I don't use magic items or named characters so I don't care. I'd like to see more hero options for Bretonnia though. Maybe a Questing Knight on Questing Beast, Grail Knight or Hermit Knight Loner duelist on foot, or a sneaky Herrimault bandit character who can lead Squires, Bowmen, or Brigands.
>>
>>96498964
Arcane journals are too small for that

We complain about aphantasia in young people today, but back then, people apparently could not come up with creatures that weren't made out of parts of existing animals.

>people apparently could not come up with creatures that weren't made out of parts of existing animals.
can you? or are you going to pretend filing off the brandings from body parts you're going to use is enough to say they don't come from something else?

Attacking me as a response tells me that you are feeling personally attacked for some reason.

I'm not attacking you, I'm trying to make you think about what you just said.
Real originality is a misnomer, there's nothing new under the sun, only ways to mix them.
Expecting someone to imagine something that bears no traces of anything else he's seen or heard about would be like asking them to imagine a new color beyond the visible spectrum.

>Have burgeoning community
>Elect to play Expeditionary Force because I love Dwarfs and that was my preferred playstyle in Total War, figuring I'll expand into Royal Clans and such after
>BTFO most of my opponents doing what EF does (softening them up, destroying exposed large monsters, opponent sighs in relief when they finally reach me only to be lol parried and lose in combat res)
>Opponents nice enough about it, but can tell they're frustrated and getting concerned people might start avoiding games with me
>Start intentionally nerfing myself. Working on more miners, another cart, and kitbashing another gyro to make slightly weaker/more interactive lists before working on more melee units for royal clans
I regret doing Xforce first rather than the other way around- I would've reached 2K points way faster focusing on elite and 90% easy to paint metal ironbreakers and such and probably wouldn't have had as many miffed opponents.
Any advice on nerfing myself in the meantime? Or any good missions that might kneecap me? I played King of the Hill with Wood Elves and just parked my giant thunderer block on it, so unless I intentionally sabotage myself that's out.
>>
>>96499199
What races are your opponents playing? Unless you are bringing 3+ bits of artillery with a blitzkrieg of gyros, I don't see how you're mowing down your opponents into putty.

>how to nerf

On paper, simply swap out one of your heavy ranged units with melee.
>>
>>96499224
The 3 I mainly play against run Tomb Kings, Wood Elves, and WoC.
I recently played and lost against a different TK player, an Empire player, and a Lizardman player, but unfortunately they're all old fantasy players so they're super busy with families and shit and only play once a month or so.
Personally I prefer competitive games where I get my ass handed to me than casual games were I win, but I understand that's not everyone's thing.
>Unless you are bringing 3+ bits of artillery
Guilty. I guess I stop doing that if my opponent isn't super experienced with dealing with them.
I don't know if it's competitive, but a block of 20+ thunderers with shields, expeditionary marksmen, Burlock, a Runesmith, and a BsB with a +1 combat res and 5+ ward save rune has been pretty effective, particularly against large targets. I can throw a sapper in there for extra defense too
>>
has anyone already finished a sky lantern and give me some tips how to apply those giant transfers?
>>
>>96499199
95% of wargame players are garbage. You're going to encounter that problem no matter what army you play. That's why tournaments exist, constantly playing with ridiculously gimped armies because most people can't even put together basic synergies gets old very quickly.
>>
Can anyone with both Empire models and ReptilianOverlord prints share if the prints need to be adjusted in scale to match the GW models?
>>
>>96499318
I didnt build one, but for a large decal youre going to want a decal softener like microsol and a soft brush to squeegee the bubbles out from underneath it during application.
Also dont remove the backing and then use tweezers like you would with smaller decals, keep it on the paper and slide it into position from it
>>
Do you consider the new AoS chorfs useful towards chorfs in TOW?
>>
>>96500562
The robot is usable, the bull statue is usable, the bull centaurs are usable, the hobgrots are usable.
Anything else is complete garbage to the point even mantic stuff is better, since that's also in plastic.
And even then you're very much encouraged to look for non plastic solutions even for your basic troops, printing went a long way and you don't need one to get some units printed.

But as a general conclusion: these aren't chaos dwarfs, as in dwarfs with the chaos warrior reskin, nor dawi zharr, as in the discreet culture and aesthetic of the classic ones, they are dark duardin in the same way dark elves aren't strictly speaking chaos elves.
It's a big difference.
>>
>>96498126
If GW is so woke when are lizard women getting back in, and when are Beastwomen going to stop being pleasant forest wives and be allowed to ravage again?
>>
>>96500562
I just dont know why you'd buy these when FW chorfs are among the easiest models to find recasts of
>>
>>96500651
I think the basic troops are okay but they need a change of hat, weapon (axe or hammer) and shield

The whole lore bit of them not using axes or hammers is fuckin tarded imo, seeing as their unit leader has one and so does one of the characters
>>
>>96500733
These are in some ways closer to bighat chorfs than legion of azgorh, and LoA has a very hunched pose with very large dwarfs for some reason, whereas this new range is more scaled to modern GW dwarfs like fyreslayers and KO
>>
>>96499261
I getit. Your opponents aren't equipped to play TOW: Trench Warfare simulation and perhaps are more mixed forces. That said you are playing dwarfs so you're doing best you can and, ironically, the optimal play style.

I'd go back to my previous suggestion, swap out a ranged block or piece of artillery or two for melee infantry.
>>
>>96500747
>I think the basic troops are okay but they need a change everything
>>
>>96500562
chorfs can't even use spears
I genuinely don't know why anyone would buy these instead of the 3D printed stuff available out there
>>

Is there a canonical reason why dwarfs don't use pikes? Would love me a dwarf pike block.
>>
>>96499040
It's supposed to be believable. Making shit up that relates to nothing and don't like anything instantly takes it out of any form of reality.
I hate that low IQ take so much, that's exactly how you end up with soulless slop.
>>
>>96501264
Because they don't. It's tradition.
>>
>>96501264
Isn't it mostly that Dwarfs fight in a maze-like tunnel system of the underway 90% of the time, where a long pike is rather impractical.

Hey, I'm just getting into Warhammer 40K and I bought my first model. Pic related. I bought the colours that the Citadel app recommended to get battle ready but i'm a little unsure which paint to use for the tabard. I'm not sure if I should use the Rakarth Flesh or a washed out warplock bronze. Could you help?

this is the Warhammer fantasy thread

You could make a lot of your roster out of the new range. If you must give GW your money it's not bad
>>
>>96501187
They come with swords and spears, you get the option of what to give them
>>
>>96501187
If someone doesn't have a printer or a friend who prints, then going through strangers to 3d print shit isn't that much cheaper than GW and your quality can greatly vary.
> T. Used Etsy print services to excellent and horrible results
>>
>>96502129
Ah, sorry. Thanks, i'll go there then.
>>
>>96502197
I'm seeing 10 dwarf warriors for 20€ on proxywars, which is a very reputable 3D printing website, there's no way GW will sell them for only 2€ a piece.
I hear you on the varying quality on Etsy though, there's a lot of random dudes printing at home on there.

I'm painting my Dark Elves right now, in the colours of Karond Kar. My question is, what's the lore accurate way to paint my black guard?
Is it more lore-accurate to paint them like the rest of my army, or should I paint them in Malekith's colours and bearing his heraldry?

Did well clearing out old stuff on eBay so I pulled the trigger and probably spent too much on a nice copy of Tamurkhan. Been waiting years and I can't wait to go through it in person. If only Bligh was able to do the other 3...
>>
>>96502833
Not WFB related but I miss that bastard like you wouldn't believe. The Black Books for 1st edition Horus Heresy are the best Warhammer lore we ever got regardless of setting.
>>
>>96502845
HH and the other Specialist games were probably in a better place than now
>>
>>96502845
I am very happy to have plastic SA tanks, but I cannot imagine how much higher quality HH would be if he was still around. To keep it on topic - Throne of Chaos is so lovingly crafted and so much better than any of the Fantasy stuff that came after it. The glimpses we got of what might have come after make me sad. A book of the same quality as Tamurkhan built around the Khorne Dragon guy...maybe with a norscan horde theme raiding Bretonnian shores...resin Norscans sculpted by the SA guy. What happened to fantasy is so bleak and I cannot believe how popular AoS appears to be.
>>
>>96502898
The Khorne dragon guy was built for Aos in mind albeit.
Per the sculptors own words.
>>
>>96502898
I'm certain that Forge World would still be around if he were with us, It's quite sad how it was taken out back and shot, and now only exists as a trademark for GW's resin. I wonder what he would have done for Old World if he hadn't passed. A Campaign book written by him would have been incredible
>>
>>96500562
I will be buying certain things and doing conversion work on them to supplement the mix of forge world chorfs and old metal chorfs I already have. Some of it could fit in well into TOW (with minor conversion work) but a few things are unusable
>>
>>96502963
Somehow worse
>>96502972
I wont the lotto tomorrow and had true fuck you money I would scrape together whoever was left from Tamurkhan, Somorowski, and have at least the second book and range made. multiple Norscan tribes, Bretonnian dukedoms, expanding upon Marienburg and maybe some other Imperial territories.
>>
>>96502833
>spent too much on a nice copy of Tamurkhan
Did you get it from Oxfam?
>>

There's a perfect scan going around, hopefully you checked and paid for the original.
I'd like it print him myself for a nurgle army but he's so big he can only be played as a dragon though.

Explains why beastmen never stop having population booms. Seriously a few does can just set up next to a farmhouse and within a couple years sire a warherd.
