>>96513556>/edhg/ tells me game is dying because Spider-Man is on the set instead of scrimblo brimblo from the plane of frimlo>go to commander night on a Tuesday>count attendees>60 peopledead game
>>96513581Sure, my LGS's EDH scene is popping too, but basically all of the experienced players know that Spiderman is a shit set and a cash grab.
>>96513588It is a shit set. But that isn't because it is spider-man. The UW version is equally shit
>>96513581No idea if you remember it, but years ago before UB and everything else, people in this very thread here already went on and on about "Magic dying". It was because of something dumb some dumb youtuber said. It was wrong back then, it's wrong now. Magic isn't dying. It's sure going to hell though.
>>96513618I am told the game died in 2017 because black people were angels on cards
>>96513590At least it's reprintable. Some of the art is actually decent too. The only arts from Spiderman I like are the showcase cards directly ripped from comics.
>>96513624The art is mostly bad and unfinished
Commander for this feel?
>>96513630ask grok
>>96513625But enough about Spiderman
Thanks for ruining the game you sick fucks
>>96513621God, I wish it was 2017 again. We didn't know what we had and how much worse it could get.
>>96513581The antiUB crowd is huffing massive copium at this point. They want to believe the game is dying and that UB will collapse and that Hasbro will say "whelp, guess we better go back to making the game we used to make before 2011" and that the scalpers and investards will disappear and the game will be stuck in the 1990s/00s forever and ever. It won't go back to what it was and never can, but these copers need to believe that can create some kind of tulpa and will it into being because they're too weak to just cash out to go play another game.>inb4 U R WRONK UB FAGI hate UB and hope it collapses the company and I fully recognize it's making the game shittier BUT I also recognize millennials and zillenials are lost generations of tasteless consoomer faggots who love muh references and UB and they will eagerly throw away all the money they should be spending on families on fucking cardboard.

Why did lorwyn get pushed back for spidershart, a set nobody wants?
>>96513645>I hate UB>I also hate UB hatersRadical centirism in action.
>>96513645Every UB set will make a morbillion dollars because1: existing players will buy it hunting for chase cards (ie; soul stone)2: new timmies will pick up the game because OH MY GOD THING I RECOGNIZE I'LL BUY THAT!!! (ie; Spiderman)Anyone saying UB will not make money is retarded. UB can fail to catch peoples interest or remain relevant, though.Despite that, Spiderman is a cringe set and I don't like it. I don't like that it's not a fully draftable set. I don't like that that half the set is meme variants of Spiderman while key characters like Uncle Ben are completely absent. I don't like that it introduces a bunch of modern day things in to this fantasy world with slop like Hot Dog Cart.Spiderman is my favorite capeshit hero and I firmly believe this would have been better as a small supplemental product that skips standard like Assassins' Creed as it was originally intended to be before they hastily made it in to a """full set""" or as a few secret lairs.
>>96513645>The antiUB crowd is huffing massive copium at this point. They want to believe the game is dying and that UB will collapseYou pro-UB faggots are so incapable of representing anti-UB accurately that I’m convinced this could be bait.No one is saying there are less players or less money. They’re saying that corporate interests are not player interests. More people playing the game is not beneficial for anyone, theres already more people playing than you're ever going to meet, you are not being advantaged. If it boosting Hasbro’s sales comes at the cost of quality of product, then it’s not worth it. And that is the cost. The last few years we have seen Wizards get lazier and lazier>cutting set blocks>cutting story writing>hat sets>playtesting less thoroughly (Nadu, Vivi)>wording cards less carefully (day 0 errata for EoE)All while the price of packs and boxes have gone up, and the number of packs per box has gone down. It’s all part of the same trend.>I hate UB and hope it collapses the companyYoure not going to convince anyone of this when you so clearly don’t understand the reasons people dislike it. This is just a shield. You are a UB piggy. You like the slop. Youre mad that people make you feel bad for liking the slop. That’s all there is to it
>>96513581>player count determines if the game is dying>he actually fell for corporate propaganda this hardBro I don't give a shit what the profits for this game are. I do not give a fuck. "b-b-b-but if they don't make money they go out of business." Not my problem. Not my fault. They aren't going out of business, by the way. They were making plenty of money when Alara came out. They were making plenty of money when Innistrad came out. They were making plenty of money when Theros came out. They are never going out of business. Stop falling for their "omg we only grew 1% last year we are literally dying" fucking Ben Shapiro PraegerU corporate simps that you are. You are even lower than faggots who simp for a fucking girl with H cups. You are simping for a soulless fucking corporation. Get fucked. I hope you actually die of a heart attack in your little wagecage. You brainwashed little shill. The game is dying by the very nature of the fact that they are putting Spiderman on MTG cards. The game you know and love is dead. It has been raped beyond all recognition. People are desperately still trying to enjoy it despite the hordes of normalfaggots that have flooded in for their favorite IP being shown on a card. No, get the fuck out. I always attack or use my removal to target UB cards first. I don't give a shit if it makes me toxic. Ban me from the LGS and I will appeal to the WPN and tell them I didn't do anything wrong. I have 2 other friends who also hate UB who will back me up on this. I don't give a shit if the store gets investigated and shut down. Fuck them. I will do whatever it takes to fight against UB. I don't give a fuck if it's making WotC money. I do not give a fuck if it's bringing some soulless söykike consoomer into the game. I don't give a shit that Final Fantasy made $200 million. MTG is dying regardless of how much money these sets make. Fuck you and every single fucking fag who even tolerates UB let alone supports it.
uncle ben would have tutored a spider hero on deathprobably a 0/1, costing only a single white mana to play
>>96513680Probably because originally Spiderman was supposed to be a small, nonstandard set like Assassin's Creed, but WotC saw how badly AC sold and figured inflating the set to be a full standard set would fix sales (we'll see if this ends up being correct or not). WotC was also presumably contractually obligated with Marvel to release the set this year, so they had to push Lorwyn back.
>>96513645>BUT I also recognize millennials and zillenials are lost generations of tasteless consoomer faggots who love muh references and UB and they will eagerly throw away all the money they should be spending on families on fucking cardboard. Then stop giving the company money. Make the game and its communities as unpleasant for UB tards as you legally can. Otherwise you're complicit and might as well be a corporate demoralization shill.
>>96513696They should have done this and it would have been peak.
>>96513663ATA you are the retard. You have no counter to what was said.People who can be enticed into the game by jingling keys will leave once the jingling isn’t to their tastes, that’s a fact.If they wanted to play Magic for Magic, they’d already have been interested.
>>96513704There is no evidence to this besides your own viewe and my personal experience negates that. You just don't want UB players in the game. Fuck off and find your own game. This ain't for you.

Most expensive cards have some sort of cheaper alternative you can play instead. It is a casual format, it isn't the end of the world if you are not playing the most optimized version of your build. I would rather have 10 decks worth 100 dollars than 1 deck worth a grand. Far more opportunity for fun with 10 decks. I can rotate decks and I can also use my extra decks to teach newer players about the game (and they won't be as intimidated by the cost to get into the game if I tell them the deck cost 100 instead of 1000). I've even given decks away to people just to get them started, even gave away a bunch of other cards to them so they can start building their collections and have some options for deck building.

But I've gotten a bit jaded and tested in the last year because my decks are getting curb stomped by super optimized turbo autismo decks with players that have a win at all cost no matter how cancer their strategy is, while also being ultra slow and they all smell of standard/modern players that wantes to play "more casual".

Mono black has to be the most expensive decks to build. I'll be broke by the time I'm done with this.
>>96516436That's pretty broad. I have four Gruul decks at the moment and they're dictated by the commander. >RoxanneDrop a bunch of meteors and treasures on the field, clone Roxanne a bunch, kill with a giant X spell or infinite combat through Reaver Cleaver and Aggravated Assault. >AnzragForce blocks and give him indestructible or first strike and get as many combats as the opponent has blockers. >TannukLandfall burn. Kind of boring. >BelloBeeg artifacts and enchantments. Play a bunch of fogs to prevent dying due to your blockers disappearing every turn.I love green and I like the crossover between the colors but the red stuff is mainly there for damage multipliers, burn finishers as your mana dump, and haste enablers. Green has the draw, the ramp, the big creatures, the removal, and the protection. But god are the Gruul pip combo cards fun. Xenagos and Cactusfolk Sureshot are two of my favorite cards in the whole game. I've been considering spinning Xenagos off into his own deck since I play him in so much already.
>>96519638Why do you say that? There are an incredible amount of great black cards for cheap, same with green. Now if you're going 100% optimized, maybe, but black is just damn strong all by itself even on the budget end.
