>>96525919>He's as tall as plastic catsExcellent, that's what I needed to hear.I'm working on an alternate list for my IW where I use a Delegatus to take a second Hammer of Olympia so I can get a lot of terminators on the table, and he looks like a good base for that Delegatus.
>>96525919>Hand sculpted models have a soul that I think computer modeling can't emulate. I don't know why, maybe it's the imperfections adding to the realism of the model. When you have a hand sculpted model, each individual line and detail starts as nothing or a blob, and is then hand shaped until it looks correct, even if its slightly uneven or off, every single line and shape is worked into shape until it looks "right." This is the theory of Blanchitsu, you just keep moving ink and lines until it looks right, going from detail to detail and segment to segment, creating a progressively cohesive piece. Details lead to details, lines lead to lines, and they all have to add up to look "correct" to the sculptorDigital sculpting just makes all the lines perfect the first time, and keeps adding perfect lines and details until the sculptor has decided to add enough. This is why digitally sculpted models dont have much flair, the lines were perfect and constructed together properly the first time, the way the sculptor added them. It never goes through a process of evolving or refining, and thus flowing into other lines or shapes.
>>96525941>>96525919being able to see the masters is also very cool https://www.edskomo.com/en-int/products/legion-praetors
>>96525941>>96525950I've been trying to figure out sculpting recently, made a few different Nightbringer proxies to learn how greenstuff works. I love seeing masters like that, it's so inspiring. My next project is to make some kind of daemon character or small daemon engine from scratch, doing power armor seems like it'd be the hardest thing to sculpt because of all the hard angles and straight lines (and rivets!) so that'll be my end goal.Would any of you anons have any recommendations for books to get better at mini sculpting?
>>96525615The arcuitor is uniquely choppy, you want to deploy them in particular in that role because they are just so much better at this than a generic magos of similar price, although in the Arc's case in particular it's also that there's no squad in the entire army list that can infiltrate with them so they can't use their innate way to avoid faffing around with transports. If you just want to deliver Guided Scyllax to melee then a Cybernetica techpriest will make them score and can't be challenged out.

>>96526443Big boy here, and mainly what I'm going to use to tie together my laecrymata is white bits (robes on the priests, on the hands on ursarax, the pants on tech thralls) and using red osl instead of blue on their lenses and screens and such. Rather than the normal connotation of white being good because its pure, I'm going with it being considered baseline and primitive, the color of the Pale skin of the undergrounders that make up the levy and the color of the dnow on the ground, in contrast with the usual black associated with the highborn on their space stations. Which is a lot of words to say red cross colors.
>>96526470Red and white are also the colors of the Machine Orthodoxy in mtg, a fitting look

>Emperor's Children aren't the 6th legion>Death Guard aren't the 7th legion>World Eaters aren't the 8th legion>Thousand Sons aren't the 9th legionNever understood this, surely the numbers of the Gods were established by the time they wrote the legion order? It's not even like there was ever a chance they wouldn't fall to their respective gods, it was fated and literally gene deep.
>>965270187x2 is 14 to be fair for DG
>>96527018angron's genes have nothing to do with rage. He was another kindness primarch like Vulkan. The butcher nails on nuceria simply took his normal personality away by force. If fulgrim had the butcher nails implanted in his brain, he would have become a raging berserker with no emotions but anger, so your entire argument is pure retardation. The legion numbers were listed next to the test tubes, before the female who assisted in making them decided to be a stupid woman and get them scattered to all the random worlds that turned them into chaos monsters (and caused the entire heresy because women are stupid)
>>96527082Yeah Angron was a bro and empathy before the nails, very tragic. He would have been a top tier commander primarch if it wasn't for the nails.
Fucks sake. I have an STL for ebon keshig I wanted to use, but it has everything except arms. The only terminator arm STL I have will look weird, because they have the cataphractii tassets. Although the torso on this STL has the cata design anyway.
>>96527082The simps who enable stupid women are much much worse.
>>96527093I don't think it should be too difficult to find some tartaros arm STLs, if you don't already have some plastic ones lying around.
>>96526200We finally get units with actual weapon skill, and duels are fun. Besides, the Ursas are going to stop dead against 2+ save WS5, their power fists aren't actually that good and there's no way to get them above WS4, so our more elite melee units that aren't terrified of TEQ and can nuncio-vox themselves back together after being phosphexed definitely still have uses.
>>96527082nta but the empath stuff is BL only, and an audiobook at that so its not exactly beyond question but even in that story Angron's 'power' is to take others pain into himself which echoes the nails later, he was always a pain train which arguably is still gonna set him on a path to Khorne. Also if the chaos gods did choose the planets that the primarchs landed on then the choice of Nuceria was clearly going to go in favour of Khorne. The other thing is that the war hounds were always hyper violent, really only their psykers MIGHT have some natural empath/telepath talent since they do a lot of it but that is mostly because they have to tard wrangle Angron. Even IF we claim that the BA were Khornes real target and the WE weren't fated, the other legions clearly were. For a universe obsessed with fate and humans treading the same paths it just seems a missed opportunity not to further establish this with legion numericals, at present they simply have no meaning at all. I just wonder what the thought process was, presumably there wasn't any, behind the randumb order.
>>96527196The legion numbers were chosen by the Emperor, who was doing as much as he could to avoid giving Chaos any power, leverage or advantage. He wouldn't be retarded enough to give primarchs, whose personalities were already bait for certain Chaos Gods, the number of that god.
>>96527282NTA but that's the lore reason. Out of universe, why didn't GW do it? It was completely free
>>96527326Because it would not have made sense in the lore, you dimwit. At the start GW did have some remotely people writing the lore, who wouldn't have made retarded shit just to appease inbred autists like you.
>>96525950look like i found my future auxilia marshall thanks to you
>>96527018Because it would be the equivalent of having a ww2 wargame with an american battalion whose motto is "we're nazis, we hate america, we're going to betray the allies in the third scenario rulebook".
>>96527384That seems like current day america
>>96527452That's why I specified ww2.
>>96527345how woud it have not made sense in the lore? The only reason it doesn't make sense is because of your supposedly canon reasoning that the Emperor was trying to avoid giving the chaos gods power over the legions, which doesn't even make sense because he could have just NOT had legions 6 to 9 at all. There's also no reason to think the Emperor would particularly know the numbers of the Gods, and if he did then why didn't he pick up on weird nuances like Magnus and Morty getting hard for 9 and 7? There clearly was no thought at all put into the decision, but that doesn't excuse GW not retconning it as soon as someone thought twice about it.
>>96526391Going slower than i intended
>>96527384but the heresy is already like that, thousand sons fying around on speeder discs with daemon pals and a cult system of birds etc, Death Guard being disgusting wearing green using scythes, it's not exacty a slap in the face when they turned. Nt to mention the emperor saw all this and their home worlds and proceeded to make their lives as hard as possible.
>>96526391New Sat box for my BA anon, but I am eying off a bunch of the new rapiers and Mk2 assaults when they finally get released.
>>96526515These are great, keep it up anon
>>96527531Lord have mercy, that's some 90s-looking shit.
>>96527594That's partly what the inspiration was I like my weird robots
>>96527545factually incorrect and total bullshit. Fulgrim was never treated the slightest bit badly by the Emperor even once. Morty also has no reason to not simply thank the Emperor for killing the villain, saving Morty's life and his people and bringing them to the stars. Magnus has zero grievance against the Emperor, he simply chose to constantly break the rules despite being explicitly given reasonable restrictions and warnings. Curze has zero legitimate grievance against the Emperor, he was never mistreated in the slightest. Nothing the imperium did to him is more than a mild inconvenience compared to Curze spending years eating humans and getting bullet holes put in his body trying to become the tyrant of nostramo. And nobody forbade Curze from reforming Nostramo to be a civilized golden world like in Ultramar - Curze simply was a dumb cunt who never even tried to ever improve his planet. Perturabo wasn't forcibly given the bad assignments, the lore says he explicitly volunteered for all the dirtiest hardest jobs because he's a fucked up masochist with a victim-complex "look at poor humble Perty willingly volunteer for toilet duty every day he's so heroic and never asks for the slightest bit of recognition" - some passive aggressive cocksucking behavior on his part. Primarchs are 50,000 IQ so Perty has zero to whine about and act like an 11 year old teenage girl "why didnt you read my mind and force me to have the easiest glory missions sometimes?!" And Lorgar is a little bitch who has no excuse, a 50 IQ tard could need religion, a primarch doesnt.Angron is the one and only traitor with any legitimate complaint. The emperor ought to have simply had his custodes kill the gladiator-owners and free all Angron's people in 60 seconds. Though that wouldn't have saved Angron as the nails were irreversible. (It was rather obvious Angron has no choice but to become khornate the second you meet him and experience the nails effects, so Emps might've written him off)
>>96527594Imagine not painting your models to look like children's toys.
>>96527545There is so much wrong with this that I almost typed a small book so I deleted everything and will keep this as short as possible. You are mixing up cause and effect plus pre-heresy and post-heresy.
>>96527670>Morty also has no reason to not simply thank the Emperor for killing the villain, saving Morty's life and his people and bringing them to the stars. The Emperor put Morty in that position in the first place. When he showed up he gave an ultimatum that Morty had to kill the final overlord immediately, or else the Emperor would do it and then take the planet that Morty had been trying for years to liberate. The Emperor could have simply let Morty finish up when he felt good and ready for it, or he could have killed the overlord first and then made terms with Morty. But by the Emperor's own admission, the point of the whole exercise was for Mortarion to be forced into a fight he couldn't win and then, properly humbled, be bound into the Emperor's service.Like sure there's a case to be made that Morty should just get over himself and be happy that Barbarus is at least free from the overlords no matter how that happened, but the Emperor hardly presented himself as a trustworthy or sympathetic character.
>>96527670>FulgrimI'll give you that one, though Emperor playing favorites didn't help>MortyThe Emperor tricked him and humilliates him, and cuckes him out of his life's purpose>MagnusThe Emperor designed Magnus to be turbocharged with warp shit, then held a rigged trial bannig warp shit, then let other legions like Space Wolves and Scars ignore said ban, all while being the biggest warp fucker himself, and working on his own warp shit projects, then getting mad at magnus for using the only meams he had to warn him of his favorite betraying him>CurzeEmperor had the power to soothe his visions and pain but chose not to, then saddled him with recruits from the shithole that was Nostramo. And Curze couldn't have improved it because before Emperor he literally didn't know how, and his broan was hardwired by the emperor to see guilt everywhere anyways, and post emperor he was always crusading around at the Emperor's behest, he coulsn't really take a sabbatical centuey to fix the planet>PertSure he was a massive autist with an inferiority complex, but also he was right in saying that nobody thanked him. Horus killed some orcs and got named warmaster despite being a dogshit tactician more interested in chasing glory than leading an army effectively, meanwhile Perturabo built big E an Empire and they didn't even name a toilet pattern after him
>>96527811Morty isn't some 10 year old little girl, he has no excuse for acting like a little teenage fag who is pissy for being saved. Primarchs are supposed to be so intelligent they can learn 50 languages just by flipping through a dozen random books in languages they can't read in seconds. They don't have the "I'm a child" excuse. And when the Emperor arrived on Morty's world, Morty was already an adult. Morty's just a weak piece of shit loser. And even when he's hundreds of years old he still acts like a 10 year old child - no excuse whatsoever. It's fitting he chooses to sniff farts his entire life.
>>96527844This. Mortarion was actively dying and about to be killed by his foster-father when the Emperor came in and saved his life. Mortarion is an ungrateful bitch, and one of the biggest hypocrites of all the primarchs.
>>96527818>banning warp shit boohooThe emperor literally told Magnus that he must use restraint with the warp shit and bad things happen if you go too far. It wasn't a "rigged trial", it was literally Magnus wanting rules not to apply to him and to be a fucking retard child and correctly being told no, rules apply to everyone. The Emperor is the strongest psyker in the entire universe and Magnus has exactly zero actual reason to not obey him. He's a spoiled bitch.>CurzeNo idea where you came up with that asspull. And it doesn't take a primarch 100 years to learn how basic planetary government and delegation works. A primarch can learn 50 languages in a single day or command 5,000 spaceships in 4-dimensional space combat from a chair and you think he needs 100 years break to just figure out things like "create a unit of officers who follow a set of guidelines to improve the planet and must regularly check-in with evidence said guidelines are being followed and life is getting better"? You are seriously retarded. One random imperial fist or ultramarines trooper alone (non-primarch) would have been enough to assign to nsotramo and fix the entire planet. Curze had an entire legion at his command and was too retarded to find or train a single person capable of doing a single thing useful. That's Curze being complete trash.>PertDidn't conquer more worlds than others. Horus added more total worlds to the Imperium than any other primarch, which by your own measure, fully justifies him being made warmaster. Lion el'Jonson was a better strategist and the fastest world-adder. A 12 year old may need flattery, for a primarch to rebel because he didnt get compliments means he's a pathetic trash loser bitch.
Is there a single traitor primarch that isn't retarded? Couldn't they have just given a single one a simple reason for rebelling, such as a desire for more power or independence, instead of it all being chaos corruption or daddy issues?
>>96527818also, perty's strategies are laughably bad. They're always "go straight down the middle and spend 50,000,000,000,000 shells of ammunition and lose 80% of your army assaulting the enemy position"That is literally inferior in every way to Horus or Lion's strategies which is teleport some forces behind all those defenses and save the 80% casualties figure and not waste 10 years worth of ammunition by being a moron.Perty being a strategist is one of those tell-not-show moments. He never does a single thing that actually is genius. It wouldn't be accurate to call Perty a 100x dumber version of Lion, because he's more stupid than 100x dumber. Lion realizes "oh, today is a Jaghatai strategy would win day" so Lion has his speedy boys win the day. "Oh today is a perturabo style day" and wins the day that way with siegecraft. "Oh, it's mortarion time" and has phosphex or virus bombs eradicate a planet. "Oh, this calls for Horus terminator deepstrike against the HQ" and Lion's deathwing terminators do a decapitation strike and save the day. Oh time to sneak around Ravenguard style and hunt. Lion is an actual strategist, while Perty is literally a retarded ORK who bangs his head against the wall, drooling and yelling "MORE DAKKA, MO DAKKA, MO DAKKA" Perty is simply the ranged version of Angron. Perty is incapable of actually using strategy or tactics at all, he has one simpleton cookie-cutter approach he follows no matter what which is the reason his legion has the worst casualties of any legion and brags about it.
>>96527931alpharius
>>96527914>Rules apply to everyoneExcept for Russ I guess, it's okay if you wear a fursuit>CurzeAgain, he could barely function as a human being. His brain was hardwired tl work like that, and his entire upbringing was molded by the absolute worse humanity had to offer. He didn't train one of his sons because he didn't trust humanity, especially humans from nostramo, and the Emperor never bothered to show himthe good parts of humanity; instead he gave him an army of the same people he despised and told him to go wage war across the galaxy. >PertHoeus only added more because he started first. And Perturabo's tactics worked, and he didn't chase glory like a retard. Ironically, maybe if he had, people would've praised him more. You don't hear anyone shitting on Horus for Gate 42, or Ferrus for Istvaan, but when it comes to Pert everyone goes "oh he's just a meatgrinder retard"
>>96527992I see you're a brain damaged moron. The emperor always allowed Magnus to use a little teensy bit of magic like Leman Russ men use. That wasn't a problem. It's that Magnus was a fucking stupid retard who wanted to go 10,000x further that was the entire problem (and obvious to literally everyone.) Magnus was trying to go 200 mph on the highway then when he gets pulled over is a stupid faggot who says "why aren't you also pulling over THAT guy who is doing 61 in a 60?!?!"Yeah, dumbfuck, there was no need for nikea at all if you just drove 61 in a 60 like everyone else. Magnus was literally the problem.
>>96527980Perturabo made an excel sheet to calculate resource expenditure cost/benefit and determined that his method was either the most efficient or reliable. When you're conquering a whole galaxy, law of large numbers will prove you right with time. Other Primarchs favored more risky gambits that could win the day through decisive heroic strikes, but unless you've got writer fiat plot armor, there's no way just teleporting 20 terminators on top of their HQ works reliably. Sure people will praise the heroics of the time you sent a 10 man squad deep behind enemy lines ans they assassinated a commander, but they don't mention rhe otjer 9 times where they get gunned down with no support. Perturabo is methodical.>LionBad example since his whole thing is being the perfect adaptable commander jack of all trades master of all. If Emps could turn back time I'm sure he'd have made 20 Lions instead
>>96528024>source: Perturabo says perturabo's way is most efficient, zero external evidence agreesWe've investigated ourselves and found no signs of wrongdoing. All you've shown is that Perturabo is also SHIT at excel spreadsheets like he's shit at everything else in his life.
>>96527931Their entire lives were shaped by chaos corruption and daddy, what else could it have been? The whole point of the Horus Heresy is that the Emperor wanted to lead humanity but was a horrible human, so his children turned out being gods who were all terrible people.
>>96528030>The superhuman demigod must be wrong, and the Emperor simply chose to never call him out on it, instead supplying his legion with all the latest technology and resupply priority for the lulz
>>96528024also, it's funny you're such a retard you think Lion being able to realize "maybe my army should be good at more than only 1 single thing" could not possibly be done by any other legion because the idea of a legion of 100,000+ learning multiple talents is entirely inconceivable for a 10,000 IQ primarch other than Lion.Anyone even 150 IQ would realize your army should be able to adapt to multiple situations and utilize all the different strengths that space marine armies could have. The universe is far too big a place to expect to make a flanderized inferior one-dimensional army like the Iron Warriors and have it be worth a shit. Some alien races will have forcefields that ranged weapons don't work against. Or super defenses that only mobility can counteract efficiently. Or be incredibly mighty like orks yet have very poor stealth-detection justifying a RavenGuard-style seeker team being used. This isn't some ground-breaking clever stuff. Or political vulnerabilities that manipulating divisions in power structures would suddenly make the planet defenseless alpha-legion-style. Or have billions of humans who could resist but whose resistance could be removed with a single video Nightlords-style and no collateral damage.GW wrote Perty to be a complete and utter retard who isn't good at strategy in the slightest. They did this to not have him step on the flanderizations of other legions (for brand identity purposes, so he's MrSiege and Corax is MrStealth and Jaghatai is MrSpeed) - but cause doesnt matter, the result is him being trash at warfare and not deserving to be Warmaster or complimented. Nothing he does is more impressive or effective than that done by Curze or Mortarion or Ferrus or Guilliman or Lion or Horus or anyone else. Perty's only strength is IW geneseed allows making a million replacement soldiers for his dumb gameplay's bad losses. If Perty was cursed with TS, SW or BA geneseed he'd have been fired for being a total fuckup in seconds.
>>96526391Some battlefield assets. I think I'll add spare guns and tool boxes etc to the ammo depots.
>>96528044The super human demigod had the biggest marine loses of any legion and wasn't exactly know for taking more territory than the other so yes, he was absolutely retarded

>>96527571Your praetor looks like he's waving his old man stick at some kids and yelling at them to get off his lawn.
>>96527931I think Alpharius had a pretty good reason, despite how retarded he was made by Abnett and French (curse his yet-unraped name).Having his allegiance be to humanity and not the Imperium makes sense as a reason to want to tear down the old system. (If we take his lies at face value).
>>96528214He does pretty well at bullying demon Angron that one time, so clearly he CAN get his shit together if he has to and the Iron Warriors are pretty good at facechecking people. I think the writing is hindered by the fact that almost everything is open battle against other legions anyway, so they can't be the best at large-scale force on force action without stepping on other legions' toes, so you just get "best at dying".
>>96528275I also like that in the speech Lorgar gives at Istvaan the part directed towards the AL is the only one that isn't essentially "daddy doesn't love us enough :("The concept of the AL wanting to rebel because the Imperium isnt xenophobic enough is extremely based.

Both dads just wanted to use him for a weapon, they never cared about him.Him and his legion becoming liberators during the crusade was a small highpoint in his life, like during Galaspar or the rangdan xenocides. Him literally becoming his necromancer dad later while his astartes sons were held hostage by Calas and Nurgle makes it all the more tragic. >>96529464Yes. 1st company were all painted black and red, terminators outside of 1st were sea green
>>96529487Well, that's nice. Years ago I bought these cataphracts because I liked the design of the miniatures and painted them according to a colour scheme that I liked. How much variation was there in the colour schemes inside a legion, besides obvious units like the justaerin etc.

>>96529166Very nice, thanks
>>96529236The ebook and book is literally free, you are just being bad faith now and you didn't even click on the site.
>>96529516Really depends on the company, but legions usually did stick to their overall color palette. Fists for example, their first company wore a reverse scheme, black with yellow. Dark Angels introduced bone white wherever a grievous wound was taken for another. WE swapped from blue to red eventually (cuz of how much blood soaked their armor). SoH use red to denote status afaik, so add in some red to your sarges and characters
>>96529577Right, thanks for the answers. Are these guys too corrupted for 30k, or would they still get a pass? I recall that the sons of Horus already had a proto-csm look to them with their spikes and other design cues.

>>96529989Setting aside the fact that they recruited them much older in lore, remember Nostramo is an absolute shithole with suicide as the main means of population control. I'd wager 30 was considered old age down there. It's like when you hear about historical figures being super young, IIRC Alexander the great was something like 19 when he was conquering europe. Besides, the worst criminals in Nostramo were the nobles, which canonically manipulated the tithe system so that their sons would end up as the privileged Contekar. Don't ask me how that works.
>Legion of the space gulag super criminal planet>not one black guy in the legion
>>96530123it's a gulag anon, they're all slavs
>>96529984They're decent. I think that shooting two 3" blasts (ignore the "but muh spacing" anons) can actually cause more hits than one 5" blast (because of hitting people multiple times). However scattering is worse for the small blasts becaused you've got a higher chance of not inflicting any hits at all.Breaching 5+ instead of 4+ is a nerf but frankly a needed one considering how op the Scorpius was in 2.0, but it only being D1 means that it doesn't have the anti-termie firepower of 2.0 (where they could just instant death the Termies). For 120 points it's still probably worth bringing, but it's not an autotake anymore and is much more specialized as anti-meq.
>>96529933Just multilasers? Are the status effects better than everything else they can bring?
>>96528949These absolutely fuck anon, great work/
>>96530186Multilasers are good
>>96530186No, the other anon is dead wrong. For the Hermes command you always wants to bring the grenade launcher. You have a million other ways to get multilasers on the table, the grenades forces a different status on infantry and can bully tanks rear armour.
>>96529516Black and gold were the SoH 1st CompanyThe "default" colors are sea green with black trim but painting some parts black, red, or gold is canon too. There's also one HS from Book 1 who seems to have a green-green shoulder pad indicating he's HS or that could be a company marking.
>>96529989They are the guy on the right.
>>96530280Mechanicum superior

>because they were super rapists before conversion, Night Lords were the only legionnaires that weren't virgins
>>96530403I agree. Paying 120 points for what was essentially the deredeo plasma blast - with pinning(1)! - if you could fire it out of LoS was absolutely ridiculous. It's still probably decent now, I'll post feedback when I get my first few games with it but I'm looking at it this way: it costs the same as 12 tac marines and I very much doubt it'll fail to kill more than that over the course of 4 turns so it's still probably pretty great. Two of them with a siege breaker to spot seems like it would be quite insane.
>>96530419Olympian society was based on Greek culture so you can be sure young IW recruits were not virgins either
>>96530462Don't forget about DA
I made a Xenos of the Great Crusade generic army list for my local 2.5 group. It's very much a first draft, many things could be added and points are all a big guess. >>96530432Yeah I play IW so I have a Siege Breaker and a Warsmith.I'm thinking that having those guys doing spotting for the tanks will be sick.
>>96530123The conversion to space marine can fuck with somebody's melatonin levels and skin tone. RG all become pale emo boys for example. Not to mention the one organ that activates in high radiation environments, which means that all marines start to look like niggers when exposed to high radiation for extended periods.
>>96530598Am I reading this right? You can use the time parasite from the entropic cache to get a warlord to a 2++ invuln?? Based as hell. The rangdan look appropriately nasty. I can't emit a judgement on balance because I think that needs to be tested in-game but this looks pretty awesome overall anon. It's a true build-an-army. I can tell a lot of work went into this. Some factions seem quite a bit stronger than others but that's pretty lore accurate for xenos - for every rangdan or slaugth there's a dozen xenos races that get crushed in a few afternoons by the Legions.I'm probably going to use some of these guys to make an NPC like faction for co-op, I think it'll be a lot of fun converting stuff up and banding with another player against the xenos hordes.

>>96528940Well we've just found out you never read the books. Lion being the highest rate of conquering enemy planets is very clearly established. Literally even by the Emperor of Mankind specifically."'May I be the first to congratulate you on your recent victory.' [...]'You were not the first of my sons to reclaim a place at my side, but YOUR TALLY OF VICTORIES IS SECOND TO NO OTHER. Even Horus looks upon them with envy.'" (The Emperor of Mankind)Lion and Horus also have a contest to conquer more worlds (with fulgrim and dorn also joining but little chance of keeping up)"It was clear that Fulgrim, Horus and the Lion had each brought more star systems into compliance than the VII– in the case of the Dark Angels Nearly Twice As Many" (Dorn's primarch novel)Lion wins battles so fast and effectively Leman Russ even has an eternal grudge against the First for how quickly and badly Russ was humiliated.Multiple primarchs explicitly say Horus isn't fast, he just had 30-100 years head start over his other brothers when they weren't discovered, and while assisted directly by the Emperor's own armies and fleets. And guilliman is a trust fund baby who conquered nothing, his stepdad just handed him 500 planets because Konor was retiring - literally any primarch at all who had arrived on Macragge would have gotten a 500 planet head-start.It's hard to pin down who the 2nd or 3rd fastest are, whether it's DG or IW, but the 1st being the highest every year is explicitly said several places. You'd know that if you'd actually read any books instead of being a chode who learns lore only from youtubers.

Ultras and Iron Hands vs Fists^2. Probably the least fun I had in a 3.0 game, I think this is where I leave back to 2.0.Batrep:Fist team scores turn 1. They run up and cap all 3 points. The Saturnine’s plasma cannon shits itself on overload, and the land raiders lascannons drop a UM rhino to 2 hull points left.On our end, my autocannon squad slams the saturnine and it pops, grav rapiers clear out the center objective for UM tacs, and my las predator kills some shit. UM contemptor flash fries the left objective, tacs and immortals clean up and take it. Right obj is “contested” for mere moments before an IF tac squad legs it from a failed rout. We take all 3, and get extra for first strike.Turn 2The Fist deredeo on the left side somehow fails to kill a single tac, but a vindicator shell pummels a squad. A Centurion and Tac squad attempt to take it but are a bit short on movement. Middle obj ultras are approached by an assault squad and cataphractii terminator squad, waiting to pounce. Right side sees a Saturnine praetor and 5 Templar brethren waddle out of a land raider to face a UM power armor praetor and 5 suzerain. Shooting is a bit more eventful with 2 Suzies losing their lives to combined bolter, plasma, and lascannon fire. In the charge phase, the assaults somehow fail their charge in the middle, and the cataphractii make it in instead! Then the Saturnine Praetor and his squad engage in some fancy swordplay, harming 0 suzerain but wiping out the UM praetor after 3 challenge rounds. Was very boring, the usual 3.0 challenge shenanigans. The suzerain ran off the objective, totally lost without their dad telling them what to do. 2 points capped.
>>96531276>while assisted directly by the Emperor's own armies and fleetsA lot of primarchs had this for a period, secondly the DA total includes the worlds brought into compliance prion to the Lion being found while the DA have been the Legion with the longest history and most complete structure upon being united with the Primarch.
>>96531497Our side got a great start, my deredeo peed his pants and missed all his shots, so his grav rapier brothers had to Pin and kill some cataphractii to cover for him. Some very lucky breaches there. After that, the autocannon squad busted a fat ass nut all over a vindicator that was getting too close, and my las predator was on tac killing duty. My immortals actually got to fire this turn, left side squad plinking a wound off a centurion with a grav shredder, pinning him, and killing 2 Templars with melta guns on the right side. Ultras kinda regrouped and got back onto the points they lost earlier. No charges since we figured points were better and we’d bait the IF praetor into charging my immortals + iron father on the right anyway, getting an easy Gorgon Spite spitroast and then probably an easy 3 points for at the warlord.Turn 3The fists keep stuff moving. At this point they try to keep the cata in the center alive but nothing is in range for cover fire. On the flanks they move in, and the saturnine praetor does take the IH bait. Shooting kills 2 immortals total, for the whole phase. Assaults charge the now un-routed suzies, and fail to break even a single man, and die under the sharpened axes of Ultramar’s finest. The Gorgon’s spite does exactly as we thought, and my iron father practically decapitates the saturnine praetor in a single combat round. Our turn 3 was digging in and clean up. Not much left on their side after this.Turn 4:Fists just get in line to shoot. 4 dead tacs, 2 dead immortals. No scoring.Final clean up on our end leaves one deredeo, one vindicator, 3 tacticals, and 4 breachers alive. Autocannons were about to gun down Evander Garrius before the guy just took him off the table. All in all, just kind of more of the same. Not really a fan of the missions or challenge system in 3.0, and the game feels a lot less prone to character moments, ironically. Good on GW for apparently making the other armies fun, though.

>>96531769I do think you should make brutal apply after saves so it's essentially just a hit that does 2 damage. Still an incredibly powerful rule but means it only matters against stuff like dreads and primarchs because Termies get Instant Death from every brutal weapon anyway. (Also remove brutal from all primarch weapons that have it, give them instant death or something instead). However the fact you made destroyers actually feel like a warcrime unit means I forgive you for your brutal sins.

>>96531515wrong as always. Another primarch was lucky to get a couple months alone time with the Emperor and not in a joint mission with several other primarchs. Horus was the one and only primarch to uniquely get several decades (30+ years)And the Emperor specifically says Lion's victory tally is higher than Horus tally. If it was "your legion", he'd have said "your legion's victory tally" instead.>>96531362there is zero difference. Make that guy you're working on Raven Guard"A quick head-swap to get rid of the butcher nails and bunny ears, painted black and suddenly "oh he's raven guard". The Acheron in particular can get Fear (2), stack it with its Panic (2) flamer and rout multiple squads at once, double thermal cannon Questoris is one of the few melta units that's probably worth the cost and the Atrapos black hole gun is risky but extremely mean. What would be the Vietnam of the Horus heresy? >>96532528I pictured, in my head at least, that the aftermath of the Betrayal at Isstvan III was a bit like the end part of Platoon? Ya know, after they drop the napalm on their position. “It’s a lovely fucking war” Just amped up to Warhammer scale. Bodies, devastation, Marines crawling in their death throes (from the fire, not the virus-they’re just ash). Some probably on the verge of losing it. Not suicidal like Taylor, or fearful, but more like…upended to the sheer weight of it-possibly on the verge of going completely berserk. The tankers that come in the end? Grimey and hard bastards, instead of coming to back them up is there instead to put bolts in their heads and/or hack them to death. Can find similarities in others but Platoon has a great sense of betrayal. My love for Vietnam movies and Warhammer coincides from my teen years so I have actually thought about this before. >>96533407WFB and its side games died even before blackrock purchased GW so the females are entirely irrelevant to the story or setting fortunately. Zero of the actual factions that do 99.999% of the combat or rule are female. I suppose it's a good way to set conflicts to the traditional "loyalist pyrrhic victory" or "table flipped, nobody wins" but it's odd that it's the DA every time. Mars book was great though, these are much more interesting battles than most GW campaign books and the Loyalist skitarii resistance in the mountains are pretty neat, as is Lukas Chrom ganking small groups of Custodes and dragging off their bodies for research.
>>96534300yes that is because in his genius Stalin decided that the best way to check if an attack against Russia is going to happen is going to be to do two things, and ignore all other sources. A check the prices of mutton meat (price drops means coats for winter are being preped and a ton of meat hits the markts, which means prices drop) and check the trash outside of Germany military bases for change from summer to winter oil .What he didn't know was the Hitler, being a genius himself too, would asume that the Wehrmacht would win the war before the coming of winter.

>>96534324>>96534361I mean, Adolf would have gotten away with it too if he hadn't had to clean up Italy's mess and put down a democratic uprising in Yugoslavia with the forces earmarked for barbarossa, delaying the invasion by a month. Plus, the first days saw the germans kill or capture half a million men and the entire Soviet Missile Artillery corps. That... seems like a somewhat aggressive border garrison to have for your allies? I would not have been surprised if the main reason Josef was so pissed was that he genuinely didn't believe Adolf would betray him first, especially this late in the summer.

Then the comet hit and turned the city into a survival horror game, and they started striking out into the ruins to gather up the Magic Death Stones the comet left scattered everywhere, ostensibly for noble reasons(keep it away from people), but with big hints there may have been something more sinister going on. The proper Church of Sigmar decries them as heretics because in Warhammer Fantasy - as opposed to the Warhammer Fagtasy made and sold today - they weren't afraid of depicting dodgy stuff, so religions are allowed to be assholes and misogynists who think women belong in the kitchen/convent, not on the battelfield or interpreting the Holy Word of Sigmar. They're an interesting little faction tied to their time and place and their background - like all the good old background - is just open enough to interpretation that you can decide for yourself whether they're Poor Heckin' Noble Crusaders being persecuted by the stinky Men Church, or Corrupted Psychobitches with hammers stealing the Evil Rocks for the daemon locked in their basement. Then of course that Finnish Fag decided he needed some Goodboy Points from the instapoofter crowd and did a talk a couple of years ago at a con claiming ACKSHULEE he always meant the sinister secret in their basement to actually be Trannymar(soul of Sigmar reincarnated in the body of a teen girl) and the Sisters are the REAL protagonists of the setting and objectively correct and good and the bestestest evar who would have had their own End Times featuring Trannymar vs Be'lakor so the Badass Chicks could save the setting or somesuch horseshit.

>>96535208>only in 1st editionPort rules or go back. Stop being a bitch.
>>96535258look i'm more concerned about the model than rules, if you can, answer the scale question
I want the sniper lizard guy, rocking horse dude isn't as cool
>>96535265I have no idea dude. >>96535330This anon speaks the truth.
>>96535252Are you looking to go to 1500, 2000 or all the way to 3000, either in this list or in future games you play with a similar array of stuff?Points-value-agnostic recommendations: Every squad capable of taking a nuncio-vox should have a nuncio-vox, especially the Line units, since they enable you to move, shoot and score freely by removing the status before you take all your actions on that turn rather than after. Drop the Vexilas and/or the fists if you have to, the voxes are much more important for basic scoring units.Basic terminators have WS4 and only two attacks each, so if you plan to use them to kill MEQ then more bodies with basic power weapons will do better and cheaper than claws, and absorb more hits. I'm personally fond of Terminator Champions myself for the 4++ cataphractii save and extra wound, but if he's going with the Brethren then you're fine as is. Get a status weapon in that dreadnought fist - a grav or flamer in there can be extremely cheap value in a way that a few stray bolter shots won't. I like Rapiers here, you could use a little bit of heavy anti-tank.
>>96535208It's not that great
>>96535208I don't understand what people see in this model. It's the same retarded concept as the GK babycarrier, made even more infantile by the rocking horse. Is it purely because of FOMO? Because the model isn't readily available?
>>96535434The first I saw of it was a really good paintjob on a really good scenic base so maybe it's just association with that
>>96535414>>96535434
>>96535449Then get it
>>96535472yeah but the scale question
>>96533288Is that it? Darn, I wanted to base my LI guys off of the would become fallen, oh well, world eaters it is
>>96535475Just buy the fukken model
>>96535374Shit, forgot to include that, This would be 1,500 at first to get so games in before I increase it.Thanks for the advice so far.
>>96535484not wasting money if it doesnt fit into a collection due to scale difference
>>96535492Then don't buy it
>>96535492Buy the STL version so you can scale it differently. If you don’t got a printer someone at your club/LGS probably does
>>96535475>>96535492he's probably just accounting for scale creep. don't think the regular SA infantry is actually 28mm either
My siege tartaros have arrived. What should the loadout of the tartaros centurion who accompanies them be? Claw and combi?
What do you make of the rumours that GW is angling to make The Scouring another separate game line, using HH minis + Orks and Eldar?
>>96535504to be honest....yeah I should probably do that
>>96535525Doubt it, they already have a lot of game systems running at the same time, not sure they have room for another one. Plus its pretty clear they're trying to avoid overlap between 40k and 30k models as much as they can.
do you think leaks at GW will accelerate nuMKIV reveal?
>>96535504the STL version apparently doesn't give you the STL for the legs and base, and sends you a physical printed copy of those instead to prevent you from making more than one copy. lol. someone will probably make an STL of the legs though
>>96535549Folks need to fuck off with that kind of shit. You're begging me to never buy your shit and like you said, workarounds WILL be made. People are so goddamn stupid.
>>96535549I’m actually gonna lose it, I bought this version of it and horribly misread it… I’m physically only getting legs??? I’ll print the rest sure but that’s so gay

Been wanting to do a Blackshield Army, and I thought using the Old Anvil Industries' Not-Marines would be a good way to represent Pariah Power Armor, but the little bastards have been squatted for Not-Primaris for a while now, anyone have any idea how to track down some of these aside from praying for an eBay listing? I know of a handful of recasters, but none who'd have this stuff nor anyone with the stuff to recast or scan these on commission.
>>96533126Use AK-Interactive's super matte gloss. It's incredible.
Bro holy fuck why are 3d print fags always the most horrifically bad painters. I'm not even taking lazy,I mean "doesn't know how to thin paints or what a wash is"
>>96535752>Anvil has something I like, but they don't sell it anymore
>>96535784Wouldnt say Im great, but I wouldnt necessarily say bad, either.
>>96535799I wish I wasn't broke 10 years ago so I could've bought an ass load of these to collect dust until I decided to have this idea
>>96535489Ah, then a couple of laser rapiers will be just fine for the amount of armour you would see there. For termie power weapons I personally like mauls, since they're most effective at mincing MEQ and can chip at light vehicles, but axes or even a lance or two to poke out enemy power weapons/voxes/vexillas have their uses.
>>96535689I miss meltas on breachers
>>96535777Good to know, thanks
>Watching a game at the LGS>See a squad of 5 legion terminators with hammers and some lightning claws struggle to kill just 2 saturnine terminators in close combatHuh, that 3 wounds toughness 6 is making more of a difference than I thought. Those saturnine command squads might really upset the eternal thunder hammer terminators meta.
>>96535689Duel grav in a rhino play them super conservatively. So far the best way i have found use for Breachers is playing this way>Put them into a rhino >Hide them behind Cover.>Wait for something to come within your threat range>Threat range is 12(Rhino movement)+7(Breacher movement)+8(Las cutter range) >27" threat range, ideally though you wanna make sure they are within like 25" >Run up, dump them out, blast with the 2 Las cutters, charge in, cut up the vehicle. as long as you are not rolling 1s your gonna fuck up anything short of a spartan or Super heavy.
>>96535997>Duel gravI meant Dual las cutters.
Are Space Wolves normal in HH, or are they furries here too?If they're less furry, which edition do I shill for the best Space Wolves experience?
>>96536007Did you though?
>>96536042Really, the only thing furry about them in either are the memes. If you lwt memes stop you from playing somwthing you think is cool, youre a faggot.
>>96536067Yes because las cutters with fuck up vehicles something fierce.
>>96536070Cannis helix is kinda furry when wulfen are a unit.
>>96536096I guess all werewolves are furries. Viking berskers must also be furries. Grow up, anon.
>>96536042Less furries, more colossal retards and hypocrites. Though that's mostly Leman Russ' fault.
>>96536114Glad you conceded they're furries; but you aren't really answering the questions. How are they in HH?
>>96536145Ah, I see youre retarded. The Blood Angels are closer to Twlilight than Space Wolves are to furries. Thaat said, I think pretty much once you make it into melee, things arent able to escape them.
>>96536182>my inner wolf is coming out>not furryBut thank you for answering.I know it's hard to have more than one thought at at time, which edition would result in the best "things aren't able to escape once in melee" experience.
How the fuck should I build these 20 reivers I have sitting here. (and 10 justaerin, I'm thinking a mix of claws and thunder hammers)
>>96536142Good to hear it's "less".I'm also less interested in the lore arguments, more interested in table top performance per edition if my datasheets aren't filled with actual wulfen and goofy ass wolf cavalry.
well, i really should've picked an easier legion to paint for a display piece
>>96535852I wish I wasn't broke now.
>>96536268....you meant reavers, right?
>>96536273HH marines are much less about spamming legion specific units. It's fun to bring one or two for flavour, but the biggest part of most armies is generic stuff available to all legions. SW have had solid rules in all three editions.
>>96536268>>96536278is it time?
>>96535974They're interesting chassis, yeah. Just in whiterooming I think they're actually more vulnerable to the traditional power weapon spam units like power axe vets/scyllax than most normal terminators, since if you're Breaching 5+ you don't care that you only wound the 2+ save model on 5+ and the Saturnines just don't have the volume of attacks to clear those units, but they still take forever to die.
>>96535928>>96536295>HH marines are much less about spamming legion specific units.Anon why would you lie to a new player like that
>>96536205>Not understanding historical or cultural contextBut youre welcome. I mean you could always check out a battle report or read the rules, but to each their own, I guess.
>>96536273No wolf-hybrid stuff, although 30k SW can take small groups of normal wolves (which are terrible) and the two giant ones that hang around Leman Russ (which are all right for their points cost). Absolutely not core components of their list, even if it is funny that one of Russ' dogs has better weapon skill than 99.9% of all Astartes and also Lorgar.3.0 Space Wolves are just fine, they did decently out of the edition change and are a very solid melee legion. I have been half tempted to put together a Space Wolves force who heard Russ' big speech about running off to die trying to solo Horus and decided to take his offer to let them return to Terra instead, but there are other legions I like the actual lore of more even if the SW grey looks spiffy.
>>96536363>conceded they're furries>doesn't want to talk about the questions being posed>leaves with reddit spacingI thought this was /hhg/, not /40kg/.
>>96536311Compared to 40k it is. You don't see armies of nothing but exclusively firedrakes or JUSTaerin now do you.
>>96536381Mate this 4chan. Nobody here has a leg to stand on talking down to anyone else. We're all losers or we wpuldnt be on this site.
>>96536378Nice. Was testing out different paints, and I think I have a blue that could pass as HH SWs.
>>96536389Anon I literally saw a player last night complaining about how he couldn't fit another 5 justaerin into his 25 justaerin because of transports
>>96533614Heavy bolter contemptors are so cool, I'm going to have at least one with dual heavy bolters.
>>96536433There's always exceptions. Like your singular anecdotal example. Fact is the vast majority of functional HH armies out there don't even have half their armies consist of legion snowflake unit spam. Just look at pics of people's armies and actual games.
>>96536378>>96536415Also, I haven't scoured the lore yet, but if it helps to have an idea before hand, I was thinking a group of Prospero off doing something crazy. It leaves me open to some Custodes and some Sisters of Silence.I don't think I've heard anything positive about Sisters of Silence forgotten, nerfed, or something in 3.0's legacies.
>>96536274This is the pain you chose!
>>96536462SoS went down to FOUR unitsFOUR!the only hopium is that the book gives them their 2.0 armylist back but it's not looking likely
>>96536562I think it's a conspiracy.
>>96536562Most of all, SoS need more models than one infantry kit, two characters, and a fleshlight shaped transport vehicle.
>>96536562This is a joke right?Hahahaha
>>96536462SoS got their legs cut out from under them and can't really do anything basic Marine troops can't other than annoy psykers, Custodes struggle as a full army because their gimmick is "nothing scores good, get your points from killing enemy units on objectives" but they have solid units for allied detachments. Cool dreads, too, since they're all WS5.
>>96536937Custodes really feel like placeholder rules, only there to span the time between 3.0 launch and their liber release.SoS have never really been a functional, standalone army. I think they never have had any proper answer to vehicles. Not to mention that people actually playing SoS are even more rare than militia players. With militia there are countless options for what models to use. With SoS you needed to do extensive conversion work, or hunt elusive SoS STLS to pr00nt.
>>96536685Well for those you're fine all those models are legal.
>>96536937the null maidens and sisters of silence aren't even good versus psykers is the real funny part, they're not even nulls anymore. The null squad doesn't get anathema (just cullexus assassin who can't join units) - just hatred(psykers) which does literally nothing to stop rending5+ tzeentch auto-winning.The SoS character doesn't even get anathema, just exoblivio (melee-only)And anathema which sisters dont even get (can't wound on better than 4+) does literally nothing to reduce rending5+ psychic power, as that's in the hit stage and skips wounding entirely while activating breaching. There's nothing that stops them psychic buffing the tzeentch units in SoS.Anathema doesn't remove the ability to use psychic reactions, it says only negates casting a buff or curse on the anathema. The psychic reaction just isn't allowed to deal damage points to anathema... so you can still cast a forcefield reaction for 4+ Shrouding or a reaction for tzeentch to get +2 toughness when shot at even by anathemas. So fucking stupid.Ex-oblivio is melee-only and at the end of combat, suffer 13 minus willpower wounds and you can take invuln tests. So 0.5 wounds to Magnus or 1.5 wounds to a 4++ squad with a tzeentch character included, provided they dont simply ranged dakka that unit before it gets in melee. The ability to use Nullify does nothing against tzeentch as it's curses-only not buffs, so doesn't stop 5+ rend, +2 toughness or 4+ shrouding or biomancy's buff, or hitting on 2+ gambit or any other broken tzeentch things.I was afraid tzeentch being boogeyman this edition might mean Sisters got hard-counter rules, but sisters are literally useless against tzeentch psykers instead.
>>96537084>tzeentchOh look it's the retarded /40kg/ tourist again. How much shit did he get wrong this time?
>>96527110Annoyingly, the only one I can find is the Fists praetor. It's a great model, but doesn't solve my problem, unless I want them to all have an identical pose. Also doesn't solve the problem that I have half cata/half tart models, but I can kind of ignore that.
Do any of the space marine units in LI have “Precise” on their weapons? AFAIK no, but maybe something was added/changed in the new book? I’m buying it at the end of the month but i’d like to know the answer to my question in order to make an informed choice (between WEs and NLs for LI)
