>>96535455>inkwash anon marked as deadSorry for whatever I was doing that made it seem like I had died.
>>96535455>>96535474Gonna try and use GIMP to make the pages for the ink wash stuff. I just had a thought about that and I might be able to get it to work even if it is a crude workaround.
As someone who has shilled L.Bursley's dakkadakka wash recipe page on /tg/ for years, it's nice to see people enjoying it and creating their own recipes.
>>96538140>As someone who has shilled L.Bursley's dakkadakka wash recipe page on /tg/ for years, it's nice to see people enjoying it and creating their own recipes.how much experience do you have with these homemade washes? Any advice if someone wants them to stain flat surfaces less and recesses and around raised areas more?
>>96537540Don’t bother. The project seems to be dead or on a state of slowness right now. Do it when there is activity besides bumps like this.
what chapter of chaos space marine is the worst to get captured by?how fucked you would be?

>>96540157If anything thanks to this I'm having more 4th editions games than before.Trying to push it on my local store, but the guys are having a meltdown about templates and terrain not being symmetrical.Think I'll try the combat patrol format.
Alright, it's been a while since i was on, any updates on the core?>>96518361thank you for finishing daemonhunters where i couldn't, i've added it to the archive. It appears witchunters is the last one and all the codex data is ready to go for the next step. >>96540211>but the guys are having a meltdown about templates and terrain not being symmetricalhow far this hobby has sunk. esports have rot the brains of the masses.
Someone had asked that i put this in the next thread as a to-do list: Now that we're almost done with getting all the codices down for editing, and the core is nearly finished, if someone wanted to work on getting all the expansion rules together so we can have them ready for editing, that would be helpful for the future of the project. This would include:>the Original combat patrol and Kill Team from the main rules,>Special missions, including battle missions, Breakthrough missions, raid missions, hidden setup, (jungle fighting from the catachan book may have been replaced by this, but it would be worth looking to see if some of that should also be included)>Campaigns, both the structure from the main book and the other options from expansions>Cities of death, and whatever other game modes we can get.>Apocalypse, both game modes and assorted unit rules for bigger models. thankfully the structure of armies at the time was "just bring whatever" so it's more freeform, but those special unit rules will absolutely be awesome to have in one placeThis is a whole new leg of the process, so we can take our time doing it, but i figure since there was such an overwhelming response to getting all the codexes done, it would be great to get the next leg going with this too.
>>96540211>but the guys are having a meltdown about templates and terrain not being symmetrical.BEHEAD COMPETITIVE PLAYERS
What are the definitive codexes for each faction in 4e? I know the 3.5 CSM dex is way better than the 4e dex, and I think I heard that the 4e Tau dex was the last good one before Cruddace stepped in and started stripping all the flavour out of all future dexes? What do you recommend? I want to get dexes for all my friends and surprise them with everything we need to play 4e for christmas. We've been checking out 3rd and it's a blast, so I want to try out "God's perfect 4th edition".
>>96541695>What are the definitive codexes for each faction in 4e?Going with these>>96344809
>>96541695i actually had to update the list to show what was completed, so this is a good segue. top are the 3rd ed printings, the bottom are the 4th ed printings. for 3rd we went from 3.5 era on, and eldar and on from 4th were considered too much for the meta so that was our cutoff. everything in green is what you'll want (witch hunters is yellow just because it's still pending)
>>96541810>Eldar cut offThat's a shame, I'm starting an army because of what I got in Combat Patrol Magazine, but I was bummed to see that in 3e the only options for unnamed HQs were the farseer or avatar of khaine.
My friend is trying to play thousand sons with the 3.5 codex. But it looks like those are kind of bad. Could you share lists and tips to play them using 3.5 or 4th or with any extra forge world or White dwarft extra profiles available at that time?
>>96541859>>96541862we plan on backporting stuff for a fan edition later, but this is just to distill the specific 3.5 era in a single book. there's nothing stopping you from using the later codex in your own games, just know it'll have some broken bits and try to avoid them.
>>96540211>>96540957I've been looking for the Adepticon comp rules for years now. I e-mailed them a while back to see if they had copies, but they're missing the ones from 3rd., 4th., and 5th. I've been asking around my local area to see if anyone has an old tournament flier that I can type up.4th. had actually good competitive rules, especially if both armies adhered to each composition requirement. They helped balance between 3rd. Edition codices and late 4th. You're not seeing stuff like Space Marined lasplas + assault cannon spam, Eldar flying circus, or the dreaded Iron Warrior 3x units of Oblitetators backed by 4x heavy support choices.
>>96541859If it makes you feel any better, the autarch in 4e sucked dongus and you took a farseer every time. The 4th ed book is a better book though I dont know why we sided on 3rd for eldar, whoever made the call is clearly a star cannon enjoyer.
>>96540949I'll be working on the main rulebook portions of the expansion rules.>>96535222Also, we need to add the link to the complete megas to the OP.https://mega.nz/folder/5SxSAbTK#xTn9hz0PGp1_kMYT0SZXuA>>96541810Are you the Mega's owner? if so, could you please add these summaries of Feral Orks, Genestealer Cults and Movie marines?https://gofile .io/d/rZQaJN

>>96546228>Are you the Mega's owner? if so, could you please add these summaries of Feral Orks, Genestealer Cults and Movie marines?thanks for bringing that to my attention, i downloaded them but had not uploaded them yet. usually i'm pretty fast about that.
>>96540211>Introduced a friend of mine who's only played 10th to 4th last weel>"Eh, I dunno, anon, I'm fine with what I have, but sure, let's give it a shot...">One game later>"Dude! Tanks have armour values instead of health bars? I can flank them now like I do in War Thunder! Awesome! I wanna play more!"Bit of an unexpected side, but his heart is in the right place. Besides, he's not really wrong.
>>96546278>>96546255It is inevitable that we would have hit a bump in the road. Try not to let it stop you. The burden of recovery is on you.I believe in you, anon.>>96550948>>96540211What's a good source for 4th edition codexes? I'd love to download some scans.
>>96543750It's about the shift in design in the middle of 4th that was clearly in preparation for 5th(at least, their initial concept of 5th, their codex design shifted AGAIN right as they launched 5th edition), Eldar just happen to fall after it.
>>96551553I know what youre talking about, but I cannot see how this pertains to the eldar book except the fact that it has the 5th ed style fluff/special rule pages separate from the list building pages. From a design standpoint of the actual book contents, it shares very little of the key differences between 4th and 5th ed books which mostly pertain to>subfaction rules being locked to a special characters>loads of unique special rules and wargear>force org manipulationThe biggest sin of the 4th ed eldar book is that the wargear chapter is just so pale and thin because of how they chose to format the book, but there isnt really anything actually missing from the book, the eldar wargear selection in 3rd ed is pitifully small compared to say space marines.
>>96551340https://gofile.io/d/Wrbf7J
Alright imma repost this from the tail end of last thread cause it looks like no one saw it. I prototyped out a codex format using the same bigrulebook.cls that I used to make rulebook (albeit using my homebrew content so try not to get hung up on that). If people like it I can help people start marking up the transcribed plaintext codices that other anons are working on. Where are those btw? I dont see a link with all the resources. Feedback on page and layout would be nice. https://gofile.io/d/BQqtgt
>>96552032I really like the look of wargear section, anon. It's very digestible. I am anticipating playing with a number of very new players soon and having something like this handy would be a real improvement on the way the codexes tend to present that info.
>>96552032>Where are those btw? I dont see a link with all the resources.Here. >>96546228For some reason nobody actually thought about adding it to the OP.>>96550714I fixed a few oversights in the Feral Orks list when I re-uploaded it yesterday.
>>96551922It was literally the edition of the invincible falcon.
>>96551922You have to remember anon that there were *two* design philosophies for 5th. The one we saw in the latter half of 4th that was exemplified by CSM but affected all of the latter 4th books to some extent, and the one they eventually pivoted to when the 5th core rules actually came out which is the one you mention. The post-5th one was more egregious, but the shift in the latter-4th books is still noticeable. Also as anon mentioned, 4th Eldar really emphasised the skimmer issues in 4th in a way the Tau just didn't due to Eldar invincible skimmers having fucking sick weapons and shitting Aspect Warriors in your face instead of Fire Warriors.
>>96552032I like it. Clean, clear, just a little hint of GW's own book design language of the period.
>>96552032If you're doing Orks can you add the clan rules from WD290?
>>96535455>>96535474>>96537540>>96539628>>96540157I'll try and get some fixing done tomorrow if work permits me to have some free time tomorrow.

>>96559638I was not expecting this to happen.Thank you anon.
>>96560681You’re welcome, It literally took me less than 20 minutes. I included the source files too so if you want I can teach you how to use latex so you can compile any edits you might want to make.Related, can any photoshop wizards extract the picture frame borders from the 4th ed rule book?
