Have a scribble of a cute redneck elf shaming our cowardly warrior
POV: you're about to go to horny-jail (it's a jail for people who have horns).
Why is /tg/ so autistic about elves? They are the least interesting fantasy race.
>>96611303Is it "autistic" to like something now?
>>96611316Yes. Intense all-consuming interests is one of the core defining traits of autism.
>>96611322Which is not the definition of "liking" something, that's obsession.
>>96611361Liking things is autistic.
You had to ruin the drawing of the previous anon putting your shitty fucking wojack there, right? Incredible how nu-anons are so fucking retarded. That drawing was OC, the fucking wojak is a shitty meme ran to the ground. You could have used an elf to put in the middle. But no.
I think the eldar are super cool. Its insane that gw doesnt do more with them. The amount of books that can spawn from each aspect warrior would be sick

No one is quite sure why the elves love to dress so scantily, basically just curtains that barely cover their private areas. When asked they just laugh at point at the person asking.Utterly bizarre.

>>96612629Yes, "adventuring".
As I said, every elf thread gets ruined by talking about humans. If you can't talk about elves without mentioning humans, then it's just your narcistic wishful-thinking and ego-fellating making the post.

We are lvl 10 and outside of enchanced weapons, we have 0 (ZERO) magic items and now we're broke because our big chicken with large compensation sword has started to avoid every fight with a potential treasure. Arrianne is the only one actually still thinking about money and earnings and luckily she was able to pawn a magical sword we used to scam people with so we can actually get some gucci gear. I think we need to start properly shaming, beating and eventually sissifing his bitch ass and turn him into a maid and then maybe pawn him to demons for a magic item. >>96613615You call that elf a redneck?
I like the notion of Asur spearmen being militia, so I'm tinkering with the idea of multibasing them as more of a mob with various weapons. Leaving the proper uniforms for real soldiers like swordmasters.

>>96613619You call that an elf?
>>96613631Not to cockblock your creativity, but militia having somewhat uniform weapons isn't really strange, since it can be a general law that a household needs to have that type of weapons + armor fulfilling specific requirements.Although, it would makes sense for high elves to showcase some individualistic traits in their choice of weapons and armor, even if it's just cosmetics.

PF2e has been really hit-or-miss for my being able to challenge them in any meaningful way. A lot of that is them having a paladin and a druid, with both classes having access to stupidly easy to recoup healing. Seriously this shit makes 5e resting seem amazing. >>96615436Yeah I guess just individually and relationship. Also yeah she took the two-weapon ranger track (3.5 edition). Exotic Weapon Proficiency for the Spiked chain; as drow has natural proficiency with the short swords and hand crossbow (mainly just a poison delivery tool). Dagger is simple weapon. Her strength comes from both her new life as a ranger and her heritage (Deepwyrm Drow, her great grandfather is a deep dragon; she has a small tattoo of one on her cheek that I drew rather poorly there). She lives on the surface; still suffers from sun blindness but that's not as much of an issue in the gloomy setting of our campaign where the weather is almost always overcast, rainy, and snowy due to the effects of rampant wild magic.
>>96615436Also meant to add if that's your art it's exceptional; I still have almost no idea how to work with colors and I don't have/use digital
>>96616055>>96616116Your romance is one of the most wholesome things about these threads.
>>96616509>Individually>lorewiseArrianna Luna Gladebottom is a cute redneck elf mistery meat (half moon-elf, half wood-elf) that comes from an fuckoff unknown village on the edge of Snakewood forest, a place known for absolutely no one and nothing. She is mostly what you expect from a small town personm a trader and an elf. Lovely, friendly, charming, open, hands-on and down-to-earth (as much an elf can be). She is a middle child and is helping her family run a bakery. When she is not running a bakery and raspberry plantation, she is helping her wood-elven side of the family deeper in Snakewood swamps by fixing things, running delivery, trapping and skinning small animals (mostly snakes). Sometimes she would travel to Elturel to sell snake pelts, raspberries and pastries.Frost Nanya is Fire Genasi who grew up in Baldur's Gate as a fatherless thug, working with Flaming Fists. As any lone 17 year old hoodlum who grew up on the streets with big muscles, he is quick to anger, reckless, impulsive, easily manipulated, larping as a boss, always needing to prove himself and has to return any perceived slight 10fold. Frost got into deep debt by buying a sword he cannot afford so he was forced to display the worst aspects of a guard working in lower district. No dirty work is beyond Frost as long as he gets to pay off his debt.>mechanicallyArrianna is a Ranger 6, Scout 4 - Ranged flanker with huge movement speed specialized in kiting, attacking enemies from the side, chasing down or picking off remote enemiesFrost is Psychic Warrior 10 - Frontline damage dealer, he uses his two-handed large sword to deal huge amounts of damage to anything he faces and has cleave to wipe weaker chaff in any fight1/2
>>96617350>>96613989>>96614046>Their interactionSimply put Arrianna and Frost did not get along from the moment they met (campaign start). Arrianna sees Frost as an easily manipulated child, while Frost sees Arrianna as a eullible redneck who has no idea how city folk think or function. They also see their priorities as completely opposite. Frost in general sees things that are in front of him and cannot focus on compounding events and what is to come, while Arrianna always thinks about endgame and tends to miss out on things that are happening in the present. Also Frost is much more vulnerable and will take any slight to heart while Arrianna tends to overlook any impulsive scoffs. This usually results in Arrianna starting something by triggering Frost and Frost ending that something by hitting and threatening Arrianna. At the start of the campaign, Arrianna learned to control Frost by charming him, or just simply lying to him and gaslighting him, using him as a wrecking ball she can just steer into whoever she thinks is an enemy, but currently, Frost has figured Arrianna out and he is not so easily controlled anymore and has developed a severe faggotry towards Ferris, who also doesn't like Arrianna2/2What level is your Drow? Statswise is the the standard LA+2 one or the adjusted one? How does Ranger/Cleric work? Do you have a feat that makes them synergize better? It's nice to see melee rangers. They tend to be rare in my experience.>>96616516To learn colors you must force yourself to do colors. That means completely ignoring lineart and even sketching out in colored blobs. Using colored backgrounds as a start would help too.>i don't have/use digitalBuy acrylic brush markers. Buy Chinese ones as they are extremely cheap, yet they do excellent job, especially if your goal is just to practice.
>>96617357Thank you for the info and help anon; I like your characters. Also love psychic warrior as a class; with the exception of clerics I love the martial classes and the combination of psionic powers with what is basically 75% fighter can be insane. So I'm actually DM'ing right now, so Darshayn's (Drow OC in question) level actually varies. I am using the +2 adjustment, so maxed out she's only level 18, but starts at level 10-12 depending on players. Basically my group only has three players at the moment, so to give them four I developed a bunch of hirelings of various levels and skillsets to aid them, and Darshayn is one of them. The cleric/ranger combo actually ties to her backstory; she was in training to become a Priestess of Lolth until a conspiracy overseen by her mother saw her exiled (partly on account of her draconic ancestor mentioned above). It actually works fairly well as a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none build. Favored Enemy+Leap Attack+Favored Power Attack coupled with the TWF track make her a lethal melee opponent with her magic shortswords and poisons, and I've always liked the spiked chain as a very versatile weapon. She can only use 4th level cleric spells at most so I orient them towards boosting her ranger abilities and surviving the wild magic storms in the setting (Endure Elements and Resist Energy see a lot of use). I've actually really enjoyed having only three players +1 Hireling as it gives a lot of versatility for varying scenarios. Hirelings doesn't do well here? Find another one suitable for this area. I have around twelve so far but not all have art, Darshayn is one of the first I've drawn. I have a full set of Prismacolor pencils but my biggest hurdle to working with them is blending them to make appealing skin tones.
>>96609918Is this like the star trek general where they just talk about the tv shows and movies?

>>96617796>post bitching about people not talking about games directly below people talking extensively about games>picture is of merchandise of an elf from a non-/tg/ related animeit's like pottery
>>96617514How does offhand work for stacking up bonuses on the weapon? I have a TWF character idea for a next campaign but I'm still researching my options. How do the players interact with the drow? Is she the lore carrier or simply a hireling they need in a given situation?>Hireling OCI had one in the campaign I ran before we had 4th player (picrel). A cloistered cleric a couple of levels lower than the party. She was one of the NPCs that the party often interacted out of combat but in combat was just a quick healer whenever i fucked up the balance or the party really got fucked over with the rolls.> I have a full set of Prismacolor pencils but my biggest hurdle to working with them is blending them to make appealing skin tones.Let me tell you a little secret - you don't need to blend anything. Get those TEMU acrylic brush-pens. They are extremely good.
>>96612929>Only notable setting where Half-Elves have their own culture distinct from both Humans and Elves>Two different Dragonmarked Houses, one for people who like getting involved in House politics and one for people who don't>Want to be a pirate/merchant/ship captain/airship pilot? House Lyrandar>Want to be a hard-boiled detective/hunt down war criminals/faithfully serve Breland as Boranel's secret service? House Medani>Don't really care for either of those ideas? Okay, whatever. You're still a Khoravar, a child of Khorvaire, with deeper ties to the continent than either your Human or Elven ancestors>Or fuck it, you can be the direct child of a Human and Elf if you want and be an outsider to Khoravar societyThere's a lot to like, I think, if you like Half-Elves.
>>966182534e took the "Half-elves are their own thing nowadays" idea as well. They were no longer angsty "WHERE DO I BELONG?!" people who both humans and elves were wary of to "Man, it's cool to be a half-elf, and humans and elves also like us for our strong diplomatic personalities!"
>>96618365>4eNow, in fairness, I DID say notable.
>>96618173So for offhand, a TWF ranger gets the Two-Weapon Fighting feat by default with their track, which negates the attack penalty. Despite that you still have a -10 penalty to damage in your offhand, but when you get Improved Two-Weapon Fighting at level 6, it negates that too.In my setting, Drow only live in large numbers in subterranean cities or the Ashenlands, a desert region in the otherwise cold continent of Tyrnorelm formed by a volcanic eruption. Darshayn is one of the very few who lives outside those regions, but still has her evil and seductive streak so most avoid her. Her loud, arrogant, cruel and depraved demeanor is a far cry from the reserved, morose, and gloomy nature of most who live in the Splinterlands, so she stands out quite a bit. The fact that she's survived so long on her own in the treacherous region is testament to her prowess, and while her fee is exorbitant, she does know a lot about the hazards of the Splinterlands and the many monsters that live there. She's not the lore carrier but does provide some knowledge if you travel with her; they can keep her in the party for the whole campaign or just use her once. She does have a side quest they haven't done yet where you can help find her draconic ancestor in hopes his hoard has a specific lore item. Basically the catch is it costs a lot to hire her and her attitude is insufferable but she is a great fighter, knows how to counter monsters and magic, can buff the party and offers poison. One of only a few evil hirelings they can get.I'll look into the brush pens. Thanks for the tip.
>>96617876>non-/tg/ related animeWhy is she in the OP then?

>>96613890>What is an elven genasi?!So in PF2e there are "Versatile Heritages", you can take in place of your normal heritage. For comparison, heritage = subrace. The various elemental mixes are versatile, same with tiefling and aasimar. This means RAW you can have an elven tiefling, genasi. You can technically even be anything else and take the half-elf heritage.I kinda like it. But yeah it's hard to drop and switch to the new system (Advanced 5e) since one player is going to be switching characters entirely since he can't remake his current one in the new system.Pictured, the previously mentioned Half-elf Wizard. Also the oldest member of the party, even outpacing the Gnome and the Elven Genasi. He's sitting around 160. Which is old but not feeble, since I'm using much more classic age tables for the non-human races. He's got about 100 years left in him.>your pictureI see your party has met the stupid little holyphant. Surprised Arrianna hasn't tried to cook and eat him.
>>96617350>Arrianna is a Ranger 6, Scout 4Wait, is your GM running Descent into Avernus in 3.5e?

The first battle of the founding of the kingdom was, when the queen burnt the ship Dawn's Light to signal the do or die nature of their new mission and nation, came when a group of local humans came to investigate the fire that happened at night. They were a dozen, armed with torches and walking sticks. It was trivial to subdue this group and commandeer their huts.

>>96609918>/elves/
>>96611303>elves>boringNot the TES dark elves.
I miss the old figure.
>>96620082>attribute switchesNah, I'd only consider it under extreme circumstances.>>96620082>Why not just play 3.5e?Just have no personal interest in it, and trying to get away from the complexity that PF2e already presents and 3.5e would be far worse. With A5E it's a nice middle ground. Players get options at every level up, but it isn't the ever increasing list of feats and more like 2-5 choices for class features that are only relevant for that level. And they can still retrain to change it of course. Martial characters are a bit different, cause there's this Maneuvers system that's like a mix of ki points and battle master fighter combined, with all kinds of different "traditions" of abilities to choose from.It also has much better exploration and survival rules than PF2e, and especially better than 5e. Little fuckers can't get around having to actually eat and drink with magic either. (Amusingly, your drawing earlier of Arianna bathing is a good example. Create/Destroy Water can't make potable water, though you could bathe and wash with it.)
>>96620082No bonus really; just reduces or negates the penalty if the player has the Two-Weapon Fighting feat or its improved version. I do still give the half strength bonus to damage but I usually just round it up if they have an odd-numbered modifier. Her favored enemies are Undead, Magical Beast, and Animal; those cover a pretty wide range of monsters found in the Splinterlands. At present Darshayn's only magical weapons are her short swords, they're each +2 enchantment with keen for improved crit ranges and toxic, so any applied poisons last for three hits instead of just one. Her only other magic item is the collar of umbral metamorphosis you see on her neck, a valuable trinket she managed to steal before her exile.

>>96624205Man. Looking at all that art makes me realize I've not had an artist in any of my games for a very long time. The stuff I work out for my games, like I'd shared previously, works fine. But nothing beats an actual artist.I do gotta wonder how closely some of these are to your actual sessions though. Your table is really wild! Mine by comparison, as I maybe have mentioned before, are... passive. Hoping once they get out of the city they'll be less so. I really don't wanna have to lead them by the nose forever.
>>96626427Ai beats it
>>96626427>But nothing beats an actual artist. You can use ai for character/monster portraits but the problem is ai is very bad with emotions and expressions which really bring out a character's personality. Also ai sucks when depicting interations. It always tries to go for most generic thing possible unless you tie it up in your basement and spoonfeed it very specific stuff.>I do gotta wonder how closely some of these are to your actual sessions though.I mean most of it is just how characters look so it's pretty much accurate. There are few hypothetical outfits that Arrianne could wear but really doesn't. The situations and traditional scribbles folder is almost 100% accurate what happens ingame with the only exception being Ferris's choice of words because the mumbling zoomlette who plays Ferris is not as eloquent with english as Ferris would be. The only thing what I don't depict are the rolls during an interaction and us laughing for 15-20 minutes how a situation unfolds oerfectly. What Arrianne says is pretty much what I say and I can easily pull off a southern redneck accent that Arrianna speaks in (think Ellis from Left4Dead2 but faster and squeakier or slurred depending on her Bogleaf slide stage)>Your table is really wild! Mine by comparison, as I maybe have mentioned before, are... passive. Our only problem is Amy player. The dude likes D&D but he really fails to understand/build a character's personality in his head and detach it from himself. He still mostly plays Amy like a vydia character - we still catch him "waiting for a dialogue option". The running joke is that most of us treat Amy as an NPC which is kinda insulting to the guy playing her but it is what it is.
>>96624610>>96624515>wood elf lord>warhammerThanks to DnD, I'm used to wood elves being dirty communist hippies who live in trees, so a wood elf lord is a confusing concept to me

>>96627720Me being skilled with photoshop helps a ton when I can't inpaint, and me genning locally lets me hammer away until I get what I want. Very specific details is what I use photoshop for, like for example the AI tools wouldn't keep Arrianna's redneck face camo consistent.>problemTo be fair to my players, I don't consider any of them problems, they just rarely throw me curveballs. They're gonna have to adapt though since the next leg will be that big sea-faring bit, where they'll get to live through their own version of The Odyssey. Then the completely cult-captured city, a big trek through the desert (where they'll run into needing to gorge on more Supply per day, so 2/day per person instead of the 1/day for the normal A5E rules). And then finally hopping to another plane.
>>96628180>This is my castle made out of stone, inlays of gold, cool gems, paintings, what do you have wood elf lord?>...You're just jealous of my cool tree house That actually looks pretty cool
>>96628253If only this was an elf problem.>>96628350Also growing your own house for a millenia sounds like a very strong powerplay.>>96628190>problemWe currently have an opposite issue. Since the campaign itself is a murderhobo brainfog developed for 5e, DM is struggling to integrate our demands into the story. Example: One session I bogged him down to dig up info on small sized flora and fauna present in Avernus so Arrianne can extract poisons and plant parts for what-ever woodelven redneck weed/moonshine/potions/poisons she can produce from it and that is just one aspect of her interacting with the environment. Goes the same for every other character except Amy.
>>96609918Here's an elf character I have, she mostly works as a courtier to various courts or as a low level mage assistant when needed, often assisting high tier mages and wizards. She had a trouble past of being sold into slavery at a young age, but she overcame it and got freed by a noble and now decided to use her skills to aid honorable members of noble lines in their courts among other things.
>>96629026she has also made a few friends along the way
Are elves usually used as the wandering swordsman archetype?
>>96629648If you want to know how elves are usually used, just look up.
>>96629648when you want them to, when you've got a couple of hundred years, why not go sightseeing?I feel like having a world travelling elf is actually pretty interestingimagine all the friends you'll make, all the skills you learn>probably learning like 5-8 languages along the way>that's why in my magical realm elven nobility is required to actually leave their home for at least 100 years starting at 21 and come back wiser and smarter and then write a book about their adventurers which is supposed to be accessed by the public so the common elf can learn from them>they get nicknames based on them, some cool like 'Theylidor the dragon slayer' others not so great like 'Bobey the builder'
>>96629026Sauce? My eyes must be failing me as I've tried to search the artist's signature but nothing came up
>>96629704>live for 500 years>"If I'm gonna live this long, why not see the world?">pack a lot of money to spend on your long trip around the world>leave magical forest>get killed
>>96629885It was a private commission, so the work isn't widespread.
>>96629026being trusted courtiers feels like a logical thing elves would end up doing in human societies that have advanced noble traditions. Well educated, experienced, good looking and well behaved but also outsiders that have no claim to power or deep noble family loyalties
>>96630038you're just as likely to be killed at home by bands of wandering orcs and raiding drow partiesof which the drow parties might be worse because they'll drag you down for some R&R and SOL
>>96630075Just say you don't want to share your ai artist larping as porn artist.
>>96630075>>96629885 (me)I get that, but does the artist have an account somewhere? It's just the signature that's been eluding me.
>>96616071more Deed is good.
>>96615436>Ah yes and this boogieman came seemingly out of nowhere without any noticable pattern...for me personally, i dislike 40k so having one elf from 40k, one elf from a show i don't like, and one elf from a show i do like sort of annoyed mei promise i don't normally do the "erm traditional games???" shit
>>96630345The artists name is Ruzekatt if you want to go look for em, haven't been in touch with em for some time now
>>96630434Which elves do you like?
>>96632448I'm an Eberron-head.I like the Valenar elves for their whole warrior culture shtick. The double-scimitars are stupid in a cool way, I have to admit. I like the thing about emulating their ancestors being a huge deal for them.I like the Aerenal elves, as well. Deathless are cool, I like that they have their own flavor of good-aligned undead.Khorvaire elves are less cool to me, just because they naturally lose their cultural flavor in favor of just being more Dragonmarked dudes.I would be remiss not to mention the Drow. It's funny how they do scorpions instead of spiders.
>>96611303>the least interesting fantasy racethat's just poor writing and artistry on your part
dark elves are insanely hot
I wonder if drow have something similar to the brown paper bag test, except the oppositelike the slate test, when you're a shade of brown or lighter than slate grey you must have inferior blood>excluding szarkai>which might come with deformities, so that's another can of wormsalso would be weird because some drow are clearly purple- which I assume means they had more sun exposure, as the only ones who are officially that color are Minthara and Drizzt (who are technically surface dwellers, and considering drow sunburn quite easily, maybe turning purple is their version of sunburn)>I hope they get regular check ups for skin cancer
>>96628588>Literal HellThough Forgotten Realms is autistically detailed enough that I bet there are in fact books detailing plants in hell. Or sometimes you can just go onto the wiki. Not exactly an issue with the adventure though I think, the book I'm running from has plenty of info but if you were a player and asked what Arrianna could scrounge up in the Plane of Molten Skies I'd need to make it up myself outside of extrapolating off something else in the book. (However I'd probably have autistically set aside that information already to begin with, just like how I tried to get the "feel" of what a city desperately clinging to Greco-Roman styled cultural roots in a world that's starting to approach renaissance might be like). For example, assuming certain influential people survive. Freegate is gonna become far less "welcoming" of foreigners and unknown religions after this chapter! How much experience does your DM have? I wonder if he bit off more than he could chew converting it into 3.5e on top of adjusting for player stories/requests.
>>96629704>at 21Why would elves send out what are, to them, preteens into the world all on their own?
>>96634839elves age at the same rate as humans do, a twenty-one-year-old elf and a twenty-one-year-old human are on the same developmental stage also, just from a European point of view, it is common to allow older teens and people in their young twenties to go on trips around the continentwhy shouldn't elves have the same view? have some fun in your twos before you settle down in your threes
>>96634855Well they can be physically developed, but culturally they could easily consider them barely a teenager for another 30-50 years. Lots of wiggle room for different elven cultures (and sub-races) to treat it differently. Like a stinky bogling wood elf probably kicks their children into the swamps even earlier.
>>96634866All the more reason to see the world.A 100+ elf wouldn't be able to fully connect with the mayfl- I mean, the younger races. An elf in his early twenties would see the world much the same way other races see it, and thus be able to connect with them.Learning their perspective, and appreciate the world as seen through the eyes of those that would only ever get to see a small fraction of it.Elves are the craftsmen that can spend centuries perfecting their craft. Humans, and even dwarves, making do with raw talent and some practice, can still manage to create miracles. If anything, it teaches one to not grow too full of oneself, and that there are those who, even in the short span of their lives, can achieve greatness and carry out deeds that would change the course of history. Those that fail to learn this lesson grow to embody the "insufferable elf" cliche.
>>96629648No, but they should.
>>96630139>that's right elf, come outside of your guarded forestdrow hands wrote this>>96634825>I wonder if he bit off more than he could chew converting it into 3.5e on top of adjusting for player stories/requests.Definitely feels like that. Especially because I read a couple of 5e adventure books and they tend to be very bland when it comes to environment and interaction with said environment outside of some basic effects like getting lost/cold in the blizzard. Me and one more player believe he is sticking to the book too much because he's kinda scared the game is gonna become too unbalanced (not unjustified, though), but that ends up forcing us the players to become more stale and bland too which is bad. Especially for our table where the characters have vastly different ways to interact with the world.
let's draw some elves today fellas
>>96637095does stable diffusion count as drawing?
>>96638219that's more like commissioning
>>96629648Makes sense. There is only so much you can learn about martial arts from training in a safe environment. Eventually a warrior is going to want actual combat experience. If they live in a peaceful society (magical city or hidden forest realm), they'd have to go get that experience elsewhere.
