If I were to choose my favorite set overall, it's Planar Chaos. I love the aesthetic of the plane-shifted cards. I wish they would bring it back for a set. The cards were unique, flavorful and good without being so game busting. So many of those plane shifted cards are EDH staples to this day, and I love the shard dragons, with pic related being the first Abzan (or Junk) general ever.

Without flash enablers you won't get 2 faeries out of the Bitterblossom enchantment for 3 whole turns. Who cares about possible wipes when one card can potentially do in 1 turn what it's alternate needs 3 to do. Besides if you're not running protection that's on you.
