Going full circle, I could very much see the hecata take a caitiff who naturally developed necromancy under their wing. They're already basically a bunch of bloodlines pretending to be a clan but acting more like a sect, so if you can do their thing, then hey, welcome to the club.

WoD is written with an unreliable narrator in mind, so half of what is written in any book is legitimately and unironically just straight-up lies. The rest is more heavily biased and politically spin-doctored than the average newspaper hit-piece.
Even the parts where the writer breaks character and tried to establish something as 100% true in canon, they're so retarded that they'll contradict themselves In The Same Book. So even the writers takes can only be treated as headcanon.

Almost everything you say is utterly wrong. It doesn’t surprise me that you didn’t realize each book is intentionally using unreliable narration.

It’s stated explicitly that technocratic paradigms can produce glamour, it’s just often in weird places you wouldn’t traditionally expect. A void engineer or virtual adept hacker is a glamour factory. A syndicate mage who wants all the returns to stay the same each year is very banal.

Consensus is what people believe is true about the world, the rules that govern it. To give an example, they believe you can’t shoot fireballs from your hands or turn into a dragon. That doesn’t mean all wonder and imagination are banished from the world. The moon landing opening the gates to Arcadia is a useful example because it shows how technology can make people feel wonder and dream of new possibilities.


The problem is more that people are so comfortable in the modern world, so caught up in routine, they the often become banal. They’re not exploring the frontiers of knowledge and reason, they’re watching Netflix (or arguing on 4chan.)
