My buddies and I have all kinda grown past 5e over the past few years and we've all been getting into Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, but the more I look for resources the more I see people saying that 2e is pretty solid too. Which is your preference? I'd like to get some opinions before I try to wrangle my tard friends into playing a game of 2e.If you've played both how would you compare the two? 4e combat and advantage kinda threw me for a loop at first but I got the hang of it.

4e. The combat and advantage need some time getting used to, but it's great. The supplements add a lot to the game and make it more complete. But yeah, check the fucking catalog.
>>966194852e is a great game and a great setting that's a little rough around the edges mechanically so you have to run a few quick games to get your brain around it and houserule anything not to your taste.4e sands off all those rough edges and sanitisies the setting for Modern Audiences, creating a formless, shapeless blob of DEIslop for faggots. But hey it plays easier. You decide which you prefer.
>>966194852e has more official and fan content. It's simpler to run and play, about as easy to houserule (and you WILL want to houserule stuff if you run it for a while). I think 4th adds too much gruft or problems of its own for the problems it solves, and it's drawing on 8e+ET trannylore, which makes the fluff aspect of the splats undesirable for me. Something I will point out is that conversion of content between editions is not too sweaty to do. So unless one really grabs you buy the nuts, it may be worth your while to try both, keep the one you like better, and drag over the furniture you want to keep.
Both are pretty good with their own sets of problems. Take note that a lot of complaints of 4e are political, not mechanical, and a case of "old good new bad". I prefer 4e for a variety of reasons. The system really got a lot better with the supplements and some of the new books treat ground that 2e did not dare to enter (Ulthuan, Lustria).
>>96619978I don't even think 4e plays easier. It adds unnecessary and unhelpful complication without actually making combat any more varied. My biggest beef with 2e is - after a while - careers are just tedious. Even with a generous GM, you're going to be locked into a path for a very long time picking up load kibble skills and talents to get to what you want. Assuming you have a GM who isn't a cunt about exits and trappings.
