How the hell do you upgrade a mech with the endo steel?
>>
>>96625865
Literally have to take the mech apart and assemble it on a new skeleton. It's like a classic car off-frame restoration.
>>
>>96625865
I believe mechs in BT work like the ones in IBO gundam to where they are just a frame with armor and shit attached to it
>>
>>96625898
Do you suppose the factories collect take-off parts and reassemble them into "refurbished" shitboxes to sell to mercs or out to the Periphery?
>>
>>96625921
They could, but they'd probably make their money's worth just selling the parts as-is. They might also shuffle them through shell companies and third party merchants to enter markets they're otherwise not allowed in, or they could use them to produce industrialmechs, like the Highlander -> St Florian pipeline.

So I've been thinking about the lists I want to use for the next non-MegaMek /btg game I do. In light of how much of a blowout the last game was, I figured some more time and thought may need put into the mech rolling charts. This is what I've come up with.
I am NOT looking for people to start rolling for the next game just yet, as the other one just ended. I am seeking feedback.
I figure it will be a 3025 Davion vs. Liao match. I used the RAT charts as a baseline, removed mechs I don't own, and went from there. Instead of limiting my lists to just the color schemes that match the faction, I'm pulling from the entire collection and I think that has given me some more versatility. Most of the numbers were tweaked base on lore appearance rates, but some have been chosen in the hopes of not rolling duplicates, such as how I only have 1 Cicada and Hatchetman, but 4 Enforcers and Vindicators. The big thing is that I choose the mechs I wanted to use and then distributed them across the weight classes this time, instead of the much more winging it and going by my gut way I did before. 30/40/20/10 is listed as the breakdown distribution for Light/Medium/Heavy/Assault for both Davion and Liao, so that's what I did here. The biggest change I'm making however is the potential for rolling better pilots. If someone rolls a mech with a +1 or +2, then they get to add that to the rolls of their gunnery and piloting stats. It doesn't guarantee an elite pilot, but they'll certainly turn out better than if they didn't have it. I made it more prominent in lower weight classes as well, to help take the sting out of getting a low roll. Yeah, you could still roll a regular old Wasp, but you could also roll a Wasp+2 and that wouldn't be quite as bad. I thought including -1s, as hilarious as that might be, might cause some bitterness with any anons unfortunate enough to roll one, so I didn't include any of them.
Again, DON'T roll for a pilot yet.
>>
I do wish we had more direct examples of corporate malfeasance. There's the Charger where the company was caught selling them under the table, and that one Awesome that was notable because the manufacturer *couldn't* figure out how to sell it under the table, unlike everything else, but we don't really have a lot of plots or RPG adventures or stories about mechs falling off the back of a space truck.
>>
>>96626121
Mechs are really big. If you're in charge of the transportation of a mech and you lose it, you're probably getting socially ostracized if you're Lyran, dishonorably discharged if you're Davion, shot if you're Marik, killing yourself if you're Kuritan, or getting shot alongside your entire family if you're Capellan.
>>
>>96626160
Well that's why it takes a megacorp. If you were to examine those mechs floating around behind the space truck, you might find them sporting serial numbers that "failed inspection" and were "scrapped". Or perhaps duplicated numbers. Or maybe no numbers at all, very mysteriously. And of course they're being carried by Space Logistics Hauling Incorporated Limited, which is owned by Logistics Space Hauling Limited GmbH, which is registered in Canopus but operates out of Antallos but is here near the intersection of the Great Houses. Why do they have ten mechs labeled as Murphys that are clearly Vulcans? Where did they come from? Are you a cop? You have to tell us if you're a cop. Want to buy a Murphy, 10% off if you pay in cash!

Treating the THANATOS and ARGUS as their original 'omnimech' forms before their retcon fuckery...

What would you use their podspace for?

Base ARGUS has

Where'd they get retconned? Original TRO 3067 still has them as Battlemechs.
>>
>>96625963
>the Highlander -> St Florian pipeline.
Why make premium firefighter mechs and not just send those engines on to another assault line that uses the same rating? Even if they don't have that line themselves someone will buy gently used fusion engines.
>>
>>96626470
Because they didn't want to bother converting them from SHS to DHS and shipping them all the way to the dracs who were the only ones using SHS in significant numbers wouldn't have been a great move considering that it was the early 3060s and they were all the way on the far side of Steiner space.

Im curious if you lived in the Battletech universe and got your pick of mech to pilot would you go light because of a need for speed or assault because you wanted to be a walking wall of guns or something in-between?
>>
>>96627066
Light mech if I was in a House unit. Because then I'd be a speedy recon guy who couldn't be expected to stick around for the bad shit.
Heavy if I were a merc so my mere presence would deter most of my expected enemies and give me a fighting chance to survive long enough to negotiate a withdrawal if the place I'm guarding gets targeted by serious House backed invasion.
Medium mechs don't have a get out of jail free card when the big boys come out like lights do.
Assault mechs imply bad shit by default, so ecen if you're in a beast you can expect the opposition to be fierce, else why would they send you?

"Bullying" lights while having the armor and armament of a bug, yeah sure bud. You can make it an annoyance, but you can make a far cheaper mech just as annoying. 1 Mlas, 2 SRM tubes, and 5 LRM tubes with 1 ton of ammo for each launcher (so you can't even swap between utility and damage) is an annoyance, not a menace. This isn't the 90s when Infernos instakilled vees.

I've said for years that MRMs should have matching -1 or -2 to both to-hit and cluster, to represent the fact that fluff says it's easier for new/bad pilots to use. It having a to-hit penalty was always a bit disconnect.
>>
>>96629522
AMS can now engage two flights of missiles per turn (2nd engagement optional since it still costs heat and ammo) and can reduce them to 0 missiles.
>>
>>96626496
The IS version is really underrated for what you get. If MRM changes go through then the OB might become an interesting choice though not too sure about the C3 changes being proposed.
>>96627066

I am half tempted to say if I was running merc or pirate I'd want something like a Shad even if its not the ideal choice for any situation it can pretty much do everything. >>96630633
Personally, I would allow it to adjust the to-hit and cluster up and down. Good pilots who can eat the hit penalty can tighten up their clusters to land more missiles, or bad pilots can boost the to-hit but land less missiles.

>>96629585
Nice, it's more than fair. I know they have a dark age super AMS but I always thought AMS should hit anything passing by even if over (0) or 1 hex.

Intesler was disbanded by Clan Council but the majority of the Council thought the information wasn't enough so they sent the Dragoon's in.

Looks like I got my variants mixed up. I'll change it to the -9J.

If the concern of you 2 is that the Spector and Nightstar are even on the lists to begin with, I'll direct you to the odds of them being rolled. I'm totally okay with a Nightstar or Marauder II being on the list because you have a 0.1% chance of rolling it. The Spector is at 0.3%. I want there to be the possibility of something incredibly rare and special being rolled. If someone rolls that 1,000 on the mech roll, I'm fine with letting them have a unicorn level mech.
>>96630669

Do you not understand the concept of rolling? Adjusting people's stats after the fact would defeat the entire purpose of the rolling.

Newbie here, confused about the rules a bit. Can someone please explain how partial cover works and affects things?

Scenario 2:

Scenario 3:
>mech A is on lvl 1 with a lvl 1 hex next to it. Mech B is at lvl 0 next to the lvl 1 hex.

Scenario 4:
> mech A is at lvl 2 with a lvl 1 hex next to it. Mech B is at lvl 0.
