The problem is the cost involved. -2 is huge and it comes down to whether you think you benefit more from One-Man Army or, say, Honor Guard and Promotion, or Horde Mode and Sea Raiders, etc. Personally, I think most forms/specializations should be able to fight against armies enough to make a difference in any given battle. They're just inferior at it and don't have the power gain, however, most of your deadliest enemies won't be fighting with armies. If some isekai'd idiot that's been grinding his Level Up system for years jumps you, One-Man Army won't trigger, which could be fatal if you've come to rely on it.As for the Elitism nerf, I think a lot of it is possible to mitigate using Artisans. Sure, they're inefficient compared to more numerous Peons, and expensive, but once they finish their work it's guaranteed to be high-quality. It's the difference between great wall of China tier megastructures and a nigh-unbreakable castle. Animator fodder, or non-minion slaves, or, if you're practical or softhearted, employees, should be able to fill in the gap. Myself, I'm more interested in the Rabble drawback. That +2 is extremely juicy, at the cost of Spawners that allow Basic minions to really shine. You think Fusion is able to bridge the gap? Melding hordes of minions together into a grotesque horror is bound to be less than half as strong as a Behemoth, either way. The biggest benefit out of it is mixing with Joining for the damage to enemy morale. I doubt one man in a ten would fight a weeping blob of conscious skulls and hands if they knew that'd be them if they lost and they had any alternative.

Like for connections they don't seem very impressive if you aren't able to actually communicate with them in your dungeon dives, and if you're constantly just taking short trips and going back up you won't really progress. It seems to really incentivize going down for the long haul which makes taking one of the support specializations like the Vanguard equipment maintainer or Campmaster Cook as your build to support the rest a better option unless you simply don't plan on ever going down to the 10th floor. I assume the normal strat is doing multiple runs and eventually returning and gearing up more as going up usually is easier with some threats ignoring you, but with no real options to kind of tackle that progression it doesn't really show it. Having to make it to floor 9 to get the option to skip entire floors means every trip is in it for the long haul even if you start to speedrun with your experience, I mean 10 layers of threats is pretty extreme.I think more visions would have been interesting too since just an A or B option is also pretty limiting for customization as it's the only real progression of sorts in the CYOA. You can either choose the niche power or a general flat bonus, not very much to go off of. Some make it more interesting like Baba Yaga's inverted hex but for the most part it's pretty samey. Pretty good foundation though since my only complaints can be summed up as "I wish there was more"
