New bread since the previous OP decided to shat all over the links.
>>96644330>crypto minersSeriously?
>>96644345>Broooo just click my trolled links, nothing will happen just trust me bro xDDDD
>>96644345no, the previous op did vandalize the links, but they didn't redirect to anything malicious, they just went nowherefor the mega links they still try to go to the original source, but he changed the password part of the link. for it to be malicious he'd have had to change the address parthe told you the wrong password to get into the clubhouse, he didn't give you a false address to the clubhouse so he could mug you in a dark alley
>>96644369And why would someone vandalize the links? And why would you trust them about not injecting some weird shit there?
>>96644404>why would someone vandalize the links?either he's a troll having a laugh or he works for paradox and is trying to take down our easy access to their pirated content>why would you trust them about not injecting some weird shit there?because I'm technologically literate and can see what he did and I know that he couldn't have done anything malicious?to use everyone's favorite, food analogies, since my secret club analogy from the last post didn't stick with you, imagine you're at the store and you're buying a box of whatever food. you notice someone has taken a sharpie and written "penis" on it. there's no sign that anything else has been done to it, it's still sealed airtight. you're assuming that the person who wrote penis on the box also opened the box up and put some rat poison in there, even though it's still wrapped in plastic and clearly hasn't been opened up.
>the Technocracy are now baking threads oh my god
>>96644330Hypothetically speaking, if an wraith got reforged into a stygian dildo, would it be able to enjoy its new function?
As someone who wants to run their first Vampire game for both myself and my players, which version should I use; I have V5, 20th, and Requiem
>>9664458520th or Requiem depending on what you're looking for and how much effort you're willing to put in. What, precisely are you looking for out of this game?
>>96644585V20 if you want an actual vampire game.V5 if you want to run "crybabys in a corner".Requiem is better than V5. But is still extremely emo.
>>96644585v20 or vtr is a matter of taste but i can not in good conscious recommend v5 for anything
>>96644585V20. I wouldn't even wipe my ass with the paper V5 is printed on.
>>96644585V5 is an actual vampire game, the rest are superheroes with fangs.
>>96644585V20 is generally preferred here, but it's also pretty dense for first time play, if you don't go 'only play as the seven Camarilla clans', which I'd very much recommend you do to start with.V5 isn't as terrible as some would say, especially as a starting point, but certain changes give the game a different feel you may or may not enjoy (like whether you prefer resource management or risk management for managing your character's hunger for blood, for example) and most of the new lore is either dogshit or controversial.Requiem I haven't played myself, but it can't be that bad, do keep in mind Chronicles basically got taken out behind the shed a while back.Whichever way you go, I'd recommend starting with a simple oneshot with some premade sheets, saves you and your players some headache, especially if there is no one more experienced around to help guide you. After you've rolled some dice and gotten a feel for playing/ST'ing, start setting up your first real chronicle/characters.
>>96644681why can vampires exist in v5 if every day they get stains just for existing
>>96644585V20 if you don't mind making some adjustments (like limiting what clans are playable)requiem if you want to make your own settingv5 if you want to play a shit game
>>96644585Don't start with V5. It'll only make it harder to adapt to better games later on. It's designed to be babies first rpg, but those kinds of games don't give players the skill they need to play more in-depth systems.
>>96644585>didn't respond to any repliesGuys we got baited.
>>96644732He's trolling. There's always at least one shitposter answering these kind of questions.
>>96644761damn. but honestly in my current (gutted) v5 game we came to conclusion that half the rules make no sense because npcs get special treatment, while player characters are shoehorned into a corner to play pretend their actions matter
>>96644760OP was most likely this anon: >>96644681Trying to start a skub war, but that argument is so worn it's not even entertaining anymore.
>>96644507Nah, the Technocracy would love these threads. Causing people to argue over X and Y is their bread and butter.
>>96644608I'm looking to get a taste of urban fantasy noir with a touch of supernatural punch-ups>>96644760I was playing Megabonk
>>96644760it's not really bait if it's just a normal question tho. Speaking as an outside observer.
>>96644852>>96644828you'd be surprised by how often edition wars get started by somebody pretending to be a newfag asking what edition to play only to jerk-off V5 and shit on older editions
>>96644803The irony is this is all fantasy, period. All religion and folklore and myth is just a brand. As another said. WoD is peak irony.
>>96644828If you're not married to the VtM/oWoD setting, I'd say Requiem is probably the best bet. I'm going to be honest neither oWoD or CofD have perfect systems, but in my opinion (and this is a fairly common one), CofD's is better and more importantly, the problems people often have with it are easier to excise, whereas more of oWoD's mechanical problems are baked in. Obviously mechanics aren't the primary reason to play WoD in general, but I am of the opinion they still matter and affect my enjoyment of the game. TL;DR Requiem Pros and Cons>Better mechanics in core dice rules and also discipline design>Lots of entirely optional things you can use or not use as you see fit>Handles cross-splat better (though I'd still recommend a first timer avoid it)>Has in-splat non-vampires which can be a blessing to a noob>Requires a bit more effort on the ST's part, as there's a lot less premade stuff for it and the breadth of options can be paralyzing to noobs>Fewer proper clans, but dozens of hyper-specific bloodlinesV20 is good for if you really want Masquerade specifically, because the Core, while massive, has everything you could ever want for running a game of Vampire: the Masquerade. It works fairly well as a plug and play game, and did a good job of preserving everything and keeping it all in one place. TL;DR V20 Pros and Cons>Everything a new ST needs in one book>Horribly unbalanced and broken, especially in combat, and not in a fun way>Has more clan options, clans have a more strongly defined and less archetypal character. YMMV on each clan though. >Probably the most fan content>If you want VtM, it's VtM. If you really, really want to put in the elbow grease you can even port the Masquerade stuff you like to Requiem. You could also do it vice versa but I find the former is much easier. There's a translation guide but it's for 1e, not 2e. I will eventually finish the PDF version of my group's massive Masq to Req conversion.
Hypothetically. What would happen had Hermetics or Technocrats figured out the fabric of Consensus/Paradigm and could do whatever they wanted willy nilly? What if you could have a dynamic paradigm that could be/do whatever you want? This is how science works. You keep going further and further behind the curtain until you’re capable of weaving the curtain itself. A true scientist would recognize that there is a layer of physics that allows one to change its shape.
>>96644330Tremere women owe me sex/blood bonding!
>>96644989Hermetics are already partially there. They are the ones who invented Spheres to replace the Pillars. Eventually they will find something to replace the Spheres.Ironically this means the Hermetics are more scientifically foundational than the Union, although they have their own Sphere equivalents too.
>>96644937>WoD is peak irony.Unfortunately, the IP became a victim of the same bullshit that the setting was built on making fun of. It got killed from within by "Intellectuals" with more Ego than Sense, was bought out by corporate vampires looking to suck the lifeblood out of an untapped market, and rewritten by banal, creatively bankrupt autists incapable of making any points their out-of-touch technocratic boomer overlords don't direct them to write.
>>96644654>vtrI wonder why not more people recommend Revised instead of V20. The tone and the art are 100% cooler. Pure black and white and enough lore all around. Near to 0 censorship. The only edition that gets close is the 2E probably.
>>96645025it's because the guy already said he had V20.
>>96644330>Are you still a goth?Anyone who says yes to this is either lying or brazilian. The american goth subculture died 15 years ago and its corpse has been paraded around by poseurs ever since. It's the same thing that happened to punk. The only truly surviving pockets are in brazil, because brazil is brazil.
>>96645037Goth never truly dies, newfriend.
>>96644989Don't they, though? Just knowing doesn't equal to being capable of doing it.
>>96645037how do i get a brazilian qt goth gf (outside of brazil)
Goth is still the sexiest aesthetic even if real life is too draining and brutal to manifest it beyond some zoomer e-sluts. You can't kill an idea and color contrasts.
>>96645025personally i don't really seperate between the two in my mind given that there is nothing stopping you from mixing them unlike with v5 or vtrwhen i am running v20 i am pretty much just using the v20 corebook (with a lot of notes and bookmarks because omg is that book a mess), rites of blood etc for rules and older white wolf books for lore and setting
>>96644989That's what Arete 6 is bud.
>>96645092They’re still constrained by paradigm, so there’s still hypothetical successor theories that sidestep such limitations.
>>96645115Nope. Transcending the Spheres isn’t mechanically implemented. It’s only gone from Pillars to Spheres thus far. I don’t know what would come after Spheres.
Eventually mages will be able to use the essence apart from the superficiality of foci.
>>96644330>TQNo I listen to industrial and wear a long black trench coat. So yes everyone calls me a goth even though I'm not
>>96645129Transcending paradigm is though. Mages have paradigms because doing impossible things is hard and they need a logical system to do it, which is hard to make up. Arete 6 is you realizing that it's bullshit and you can just operate on the Mage paradigm itself, where you can do anything if you have the dots.
>>96645116Even if you are a special breed of human who can 100% believe he is a God that can do anything in this malleable world, Paradigm doesn't automatically make you suddenly enlightened, get Arete 10 and Ascend.
>>96645107what do you keep using in lore and setting for revised?
>>96645100Move to brazil, survive long enough to date one, and then move somewhere that isn't america(like japan). Things with real value require sacrifice.Never bring a foreign wife to america. American media is built to poison foreigners who move here into becoming everything wrong with american culture.
>move somewhere (like japan)
>>96645207>(like japan)He doesn't know...
WoD according to the troon playerbase:>The Technocracy does zero wrong>The Sabbat doesn't randomly kill people for funWhat books are these people reading? They have two modes: Pretending all of science agrees with your personal stance, or being a turbo faggot vampire that rapes families to death.
>>96645366If these threads have proven anything it's that the lore doesn't matter for the sake of arguing on the internet.
>>96645392I'm addicted to WoD discussion so I keep going to Reddit and being baffled at how completely wrong and insane everyone is. You will get downvoted into oblivion if you mention how the Sabbat does actually randomly kill people for recreation. You'll get the troons riled up if you point out the books where they just blast a cashier, force a family of kine to kill each other or take a car and crash it into a family on a crosswalk for the funny. Fucking troons.
>>96645149They can’t. Traditionalists and Technocrats “transcend” their paths in different ways. It’s not truly transcending anything. In M20 for instance a technocrat can’t truly ditch his equivalent of foci. Sad!
>>96645153>missing the pointThe point is dark ages mage are a lot less advanced than modern day mage. Spheres are more advanced than Pillars.
>>96645416Anyone can be retarded on the internet.
>In M20 for instance a technocrat can’t truly ditch his equivalent of foci. Sad!I fucking forgot about this. “Dude Technocrats are like sooo material they like cannot ditch their shit!”Fuck I hate M20 so fucking much.
>>96645366>The Sabbat doesn't randomly kill people for funWho says this? Seriously, who? Games of Instinct almost always involve at least terrorizing and assaulting a mortal for shits and giggles.
>>96645416>>96645366The online WoD community hates the intended player factions and loves the intended antagonist factions.Sabbat cool, Anarchs shit.Pentex and BSD cool, Garou Nation shit.Technocracy cool, Traditions shit.
>>96645432Anyone in this case is the r/WhiteWolfRPG subreddit where you can find the most WoD players in one place. They're insanely delusional and both sway the course of the setting and do historical revisionism of what happened in the old books too. It's baffling how exponentially delusional WoD players get the more of them you muster up. They just stop reading their own lore entirely or making up new dogshit lore.>>96645462The troons at r/WhiteWolfRPG.
>>96645497Every antag except the Nephandi. Because as we all know, Donald Trump and Elon Musk are Nephandi.
>>96645158...that is actually kinda hard for me to answer because i don't actually have it in my head what a pure v20 setting would look likesome of the revised setting books like midnight siege, the council of primogen etc are so burned into my head i don't i can picture my version of vtm without the worldbuilding in them even if i throw out the metaplot to keep the gangrel around and such
I'll be honest, as someone who doesn't play Mage the Ascension, I understand that paradigms are very important to playing a mage but at the same time, the nature of the consensus and how magic objectively works in the setting is such an important and common topic. How are people able to juggle playing a mage who stays true to their paradigm while also acknowledging that they're fundamentally wrong about the nature of magic? All magefags talk about is avatars and consensus and awakening, but the mages that they play aren't able to acknowledge that at all, not without contextualising it within their paradigms. Isn't it difficult to play characters who are unable to acknowledge the fundamental truths that the setting they live in is built around?
>>96645501I ain't going to reddit to confirm that, send me their bullshit justifications. I wanna see this dumb bastards sweep for the Sabbat.
>>96645588At this point Mages mostly fight for a reality where their own way of doing things is uninhibited. You can't change how you do things. Having Arete is like having a 10th dot of Firearms. You have 10 dots in firearms, you can't just move those dots over to another ability. Imagine you found a way to bend reality IRL, that's your system you're stuck with. That's how you do magic. You can't change it, not easily anyway. This is why the Traditions now mainly want a sci-fantasy batshit world where all paradigms can coexist, excusing the trads who want to kill everyone else when in power.
>>96644585V5 cause it is easiest and not bogged down by a myriad supplements. Just ignore all the sjw shit and let your players have fun
>>96645608Right now I'm being told that the Sabbat couldn't be doing that because the numbers wouldn't add up. Sabbats killing a person every night is unsustainable. We're talking about fucking Mexico City.
>>96645576I was actually asking what lore you use from revised not from v20
>>96645696Don't trust the books guys. Trust my table ruling.
>>96645713This reads less like Sabbat apologia and more "hey white wolf didn't think this through". Which is something we do a lot.
>>96645640>Just ignore all the sjwyou would have to ignore the whole book
>>96645713Is there not a system in Masquerade like Requiem where you can get immunity to certain breaking point actions by taking banes? I'd imagine most Sabbat would be riddled with folklore vampire-curses because they just love murdering people and being bastards.
>>96645712ah okay yeah then stuff like midnight siege, the primogen concil, war of ages, the prince's primer and of course the sabbat and camarilla guides given that v20 has nonemostly books that don't do a lot metaplotting but flesh out the setting and talks about how a vampiric society in a city could work
>>96645730They want to use headcanon and technicalities so they can have their cake and eat it too. They want to pretend to be moral while also getting ot be a tranny vampire that takes out daddy issues forcing kids to kill their parents and then fleshcraft their genitals. Same with the Technocracy, they want to fight anti-vaxxers and promote transrights while not being part of an organization that has billionaires or military connections.
