Itchy Nuisance. Incredibly fun and useful effect but the idea of making enemies really itchy really sells it for me. Extremely cool and thematic for Goblins.

So, of the setting's three main Big Bad Evil Guys (Archaon, Malekith and Nagash), which do you like the best?

A friend and I were considering having a "drunken brawl" in which we apply this rule to every unit in the game. Anyone done it before?
>Also, in what mission are Dwarf gunlines least effective? Despite being second to worst in the current meta, my Ex-force tends to dominate everyone in my local meta unless I heavily nerf myself in the list building phase

>A friend and I were considering having a "drunken brawl" in which we apply this rule to every unit in the game.
That's not very impactful, it's just going to make the game a slower slog
There's also this rule for alcoholism that comes from warhammer's first scenario

But I think you would do better with a custom table that can make things more interesting, for example I think the most hilarious effects would be moving (fast) randomly across the table and mistaking a friendly unit for an enemy unit or rushing for a brawl.

Or in the case of cavalry, chariots and monsters, roadkill and crashing
>>

You are forgetting something here Dakka Dorf anon- 99.999% of locals are not remotely to the same level as comp tournaments.

Tournaments, people specifically tailor their lists to a near autistic degree, putting the probability of success to absolute maximum.

Locally you get a few tryhards but they still pale to tourmament goers.

Nagash. I always liked pre ET how he was a near mythically powerful being in the Old World. Fought against Sigmar, having supreme power over the Undead.

He wasn't active after falling to the Skaven but his presence was felt. Hell, he even possesed Azhag, sort of.
>>
>>96662907
Well aware- but I would still expect some overlap (for example- an average player running Cathay at my local level is slightly harder to beat than a guy I know to be very good running Skaven.)
Either way, if anyone has any suggestions for which mission would put me at the biggest disadvantage I would appreciate it. I occasionally get some good matches, but most of the time I just sort of shrug and apologize when their dragon melts in front of a bunch of buffed up Thunderers. Unless I stick like half my points in Warriors and Miners (which I tend to when playing new people or where I can tell they do not have a great way of dealing with getting blasted from across the board.)
>>
>>96662782
>anyone done it before
Not to my knowledge, but even it someone had done it, you should still give it a try and take pictures and write a battle report for us. As for your second question, gunlines will always be effective no matter which mission you play. People will tell you shooting was nerfed going into TOW, and perhaps they're not wrong (though I would posit that gunlinefags have always had it too good), but it's still extremely powerful. Dwarf shooting is even worse since even the lowliest dwarf quarreller tends to also be very effective in close quarters. You might have a bit of a hard time with missions that are all about objectives... but let's not kid ourselves, just shoot, shoot, and shoot some more, then butcher the mangled remains of your opponent's army that actually manage to reach your battle line with the great weapons your dwarfs can all wield (with functionally no downside, as I1 is basically just as bad as I2), and you'll win. Hell, take a unit of rangers and you'll be able to take objectives, too, if you're careful. Now this all being said, it's not like gunlines are dominating the competitive meta. They're very much a casual obliterator type of list. If you want a challenge, go to a tournament.

Archaon is painfully uninteresting to me, I couldn't bring myself to finish his shitass book. Malekith's "evil, punished King Arthur in Darth Vader armor" shtick is interesting and fun, but I hate that he jobs fucking constantly and somehow always gets outsmarted and played by his own retard dreadlords in books. Nagash is probably the best iteration of "extremely evil lich trying to ascend to godhood" I know of which is based, and he has a more narrow autistic focus which is more grounded and easier to follow than the thousand things Malekith has going on, so I'm going with him.

Popularity they're upper mid.

From Oldworldrankings.com the most popular are:

1. WoC
2. Dwarfs

>>
>>96662754
I'd probably like Archaon more if he weren't subject to so much authorial favoritism. Note to GW: bad guys need to earn their victories just as much as good guys do.

On a side note, is it just me, or is it hard to find fanart with all three of them together? That seems odd, considering they're the setting's three biggest villains.
>>
>>96663785
I'd take Archaon over Grimgor. Archaon at least had to go through trials and his mini Hercules adventure.

Grimgor was just killy, always killy and is boring as fuck. That and he killed 90% of the old O&G characters which was so, so stupid and terrible way for them to go.

Archaon at least didn't murder half his own roster.
>>
>>96663710
Beastmen were never popular except perhaps in a brief moment after their independence in 6th.
The faction simply doesn't offer much that other factions (primarily warriors and orcs) don't do better.

I believe the one way for beastmen to truly shine would be to break the monotony of their range: more mutations, more spawns, more animals other than goats.

AoS had book writer who clearly loved goats and while he couldn't change the models, he added some crumbs of identity to the faction by giving them a philosophy that didn't make them feel like the discarded chaos shits they've always been, some mythological things to look up, and cemented a few key subfaction archetypes:
>creepy shadowy ambushing niggas
>bullish goresome trampling niggas
>warped mutating spawnling niggas
>conventionally god-branded niggas
it's nothing extraordinarily different, but showing these 4 archetypes with models that make them strikingly expressing at a glance would make a huge difference

take skaven as an example, part of the success of the faction was specifically because it was allowed to branch out beyond the basic concept of a humanoid rat, skaven would he incredibly boring without ninjas, without tech, without monks and without frankenstein monsters
and that's what beastmen currently are, in the state of skaven without any of those 4, just slaves, clanrats, stormvermin, and some random monster
>>
>>96663439
something aint right if dwarves are that popular
>>
>>96663846
I'd say they they have a better look than most armies, but otherwise agree with you. I just figured being a starter army they would have had a bigger boost.

Give them back Raider. Make centigors count as regular infantry (maybe make them 25x50 too but that's minor). Change brayhorn to "Pick one unit, it is guaranteed to arrive this turn". Units that ambush can move but not charge at -1 movement. Woods don't block line of sight. GIVE BACK RAIDER, fuck!

I'd also like them to be further detached from the chaos gods, but not chaos. It was one of the interesting parts about them. They don't worship them any more than any of the other races percentage wise. They're the red-headed step child of chaos, but they also are happy with that.
>>
>>96663902
>I'd also like them to be further detached from the chaos gods, but not chaos.
To elaborate, I mean more things like Leering spirit or Scourge of the burdened. Make them a spell heavy race. Hell, I'd almost say remove banners from them and make them all some kind of unit wide mutation instead so they can't lose points for losing banners but can gain them from claiming. It's flavor at least, and fits their theming.
>>
>>96663436
>Are Men-At-Arms the best value cheap infantry in the game or something?
One of, yes.
Empire's State Troopers weep in the corner
>>
>>96663959
You know, it IS kind of fucked how with detachments becoming a universal mechanic, Empire were left with literally no unique special rules. They're the only army who don't have a page of them at all.
>>
>>96663846
What beastmen lack is a unit of mutants. People were and are dropping their mutated children in Rekwald or Drakwald forests and it's strange they didn't get them. I totally agree we need more types of beastmen - pigs, dogs, birds etc. And there should be werewolves with some special and interesting abilities like regeneration or immunity to normal weapons. In other words - make beastmen this close and familiar chaos, that lurks just outside the walls - not the distant chaos from Wastes the chaos warriors are.
>>
>>96663998
I mean even if detachment was universal it would change very little, empire would still suck
>>
>>96663902
I mean beastmen's lack of popularity isn't for lack of being good what with their army lists being 2nd, 9th, and 10th best performers.
>>
>>96664085
Oh I'm not suggesting they couldn't use nerfs. More of a flavor thing than balance thing. Cause yeah, wildherd is nutty strong.
Even if it's just like a +2, +1, +3 pt per model cost on Gor, Ungor, and Centigors to give them Raider. Raider is just such a perfect keyword for how they want to play compared to all the other armies.

It USED to be Skaven Giant Rats, but then GW actually noticed that they'd made 2pt Empire Spearmen but even better, and remembered that they can't let Skaven in ToW be good because it would...somehow... effect sales of them in AoS!?!?
>>
>>96664235
They're essentially has popular as HE and they're only slightly behind TK who was one half of the starter box.
>>
>>96663050
Heard some talks about plastic chaos war mammoth and chaos dragon. Don't know how legit this is but it came from the same place aos typically gets their rumours and they're pretty on the money for them.
>>
What are you guys' thoughts on giving a model a particular mark of chaos even if it's not painted to represent that mark? For example, a daemon prince with the mark of nurgle who isn't painted all green or converted to look nurgly, or a sorcerer with the mark of tzeentch who's been painted in the colours of chaos undivided. I personally think it's really lame, but given the state of marks in TOW I'm starting to think I should just get over it if I want to make my army list better.
>>
>>96664369
I wouldn't raise a fuss, but I do really prefer for there to be some kind of visual indicator, even if it's just a slip of paper that says "[UNIT NAME(S)]: Tzeentch" etc on the side.

Not really Gavepsawn which are the abandoned kids are considered gifts from the Gods and are generally well treated and favored. It's turnskins, humans who mutate into beastmen later in life that are used, abused and treated like ungors. A glorious and bloody battle in a Mountain Pass, the Dwarfs ambushed Korgoth's horde in a 1500 battle.

It was a catastrophe, a bolt thrower tearing apart half the chosen knights and being completely repelled by the Dwarven iron wall, only Korgoth and the standard Chosen remained.

A very enjoyable game but I urgently need to improve my deployment. That said, Khorne was pleased!

> Small portion of Knight Household for AT (based) and possibly LI (I don't recommend)
> Some of my heresy tanks (3.0 is sorta... Ok. But 2.0 wasn't really any better)
> Some Trench Crusade (not as fun as the shills make it sound)

"Il nemico dentro" translates more to "the enemy inside" than "the enemy within".

GW used to have top notch translations, I remember using some of their army book during my master's, in my translation course, as an example of great translation of Italian from English.

Then around 2014 you could see a sudden and steep decline in the quality of the translation (along editorial choices of not translating unit names and characters' titles).

So what does pic related contain? Empire and bretonnia?
>>
>>96670292
No?

Many people hated them because they were something new and unasked for that stepped on the feet of other factions' unit types, had overpowered rules, and stole a release slot for a kit that could have instead updated a painfully outdated unit like the ancient knightly orders, the ugly state troopers and the beloved but weird proportioned free company.
Which was pretty much a widespread symptom of the trends of many releases in 8th edition, which exacerbated every individual instance of this.

Lore arguments against them are the usual inability or unwillingness to accept a retroactive inclusion of something as always having existed fluffwise, or the trivialisation of logistics and internal consistency regarding the rearing and taming of a large number of monstrous creatures, where otherwise griffins were a rare exception; especially when it comes to how such a widespread presence would have affected the knightly orders, since they fell for the error of saying demigryphs are kept by all orders, rather than isolating them as being used by just one or two.

I also have Vampire Counts and Bretonnians, as well as Tomb Kings and Chorfs. Tomb Kings play pretty similarly to Vampire Counts, so I wouldn't suggest them. Chaos Dwarfs play really differently to the other armies you list, and there are great STL's out there so it can be a really cheap army to collect if you have access to a 3d printer. If not, Orcs and Goblins are always a good choice, even if I don't collect them myself (besides Black Orc/Hobgoblin mercenaries for my chorfs)

>Charles Darwin’s early years as a student of Christ’s College were not marked by great academic achievements. His first contribution to Cambridge life was the Glutton Club, which he formed with several friends. The sole purpose of this student society was to consume animal meat “before to unknown to the human palate”. The club did not last long, and ended abruptly after an unpleasant experience with a brown owl carcass.
>But Darwin wouldn’t abandon his fascination with ‘strange flesh’, during his travels aboard on the HMS Beagle he purportedly ate armadillos and an unknown but large (20lbs/9kg) rodent, the latter of which he found particularly delicious, along other rare animals such as the Rhea.
