The imperium is the cruelest regime imaginable. Lord Terrible Blood-Rape could be a worse person than Dudley Do-Good the guardsman, but it literally says at the beginning of every novel and codex that the imperium is a worse regime to live under. If I could choose, I would literally choose anything over living in the imperium.

I'd like a 20 trillion word explaination for how living on a flesh ship made of rape demons that slowly drives you insane just by being exposed to it where the roaming berserkers could kill you any time is worse than living in a hive. And to be clear, I won't accept any answer less than 20 trillion words.

If we use the analogy of the galaxy being a house on fire:
>The Imperium is the idiot throwing wood on the fire thinking he can smother the flames under enough of them
>Chaos is the guy throwing fuel on the fire to make it bigger on purpose
>The Eldar are the guys trying to stop the idiot from throwing wood and getting smacked by a plank for their efforts
>The Necrons are the guy in the basement who built a fireproof bunker but doesn't appreciate how you burning down the home will depreciate his property value
>The Tau is the guy with a fire extinguisher but it doesn't have enough foam to put out the entire fire
>The Dark Eldar is the guy stealing shit and raping your daughter while you're busy with the fire
>The Tyranids is the termite infestation trying to eat as much wood as they can before the fire burns it up
>>

The guy in this picture does not have a family. He was drafted a virgin. He "lost" his virginity with a hookress on the hive planet he was deployed to, but he was so traumatized by trenches that he couldn't stay hard and didn't come. But he still caught the space clap off it.

The thing that you media illiteratii have trouble comprehending is that Chaos is not a "regime." The Tyranids are not a "regime." The Necrons are not a "regime." The context and subtext of the quote is "regime [of human origin, in the continuation of the Terran line]."

You can autistically quibble that, but you'll be staying wrongn'dumb.
>>
Is it incredibly stupid to paint your first army white? I'm thinking about doing White Scars. Is white really that hard to paint?
>>
>>96668393
you are so lame
>>
>>96668393
Well tbf I'd say the Necrons are a step above the Imperium. There are some Necron dynasties that even have human subjects.
>>
>>96668393
My argument would be that while the imperium is the cruelest and most bloody regime imagineable, chaos is by its nature UNimagineable. Therefore chaos is worse because Warmaster Dickpeeler can torture you in ways that are literally impossible for any real space polity. Except the Deldar I guess.

My Knight household is something I've been working on. It's based on the Odyssey. This particular knight is based on Scylla so the number 6 is predominant. 6 eyes, each chaincannon has 6 barrels, and the chassis is outfitted with 6 guns to represent each of Scylla's heads. I also have my allied Nurglings stealing wardog masks from the manufactorum while no one is looking.

its for my mental health mostly. my psychiatrist recommends i do at least one weekly arts and crafts project to help take the edge off and so far its been helping immensely !

But dw, im going at a comfortable pace since most days im too tired after work. the painting will take a while im afraid since i still have guilliman + all my infantry units + 2 storm speeders + the corvus blackstar. thankfully i just purchased an airbrush so it should streamline the process alot once i get some practice in ....

probably going to batch slapchop paint the intercessors + eradicators to speed things up a bit so im not spending multiple hours on just one unit. im using this video as a guide since i want my army to be game pieces primarily and not showpieces ........

Adjust your seat or raise the height of your work surface so that you aren't hunching over. Get into the habit of holding things up in front of you while you work on them, with your elbows on the table if needed to let you relax your back.

The pleasure of planning and purchasing is naught but fleeting ashes in the face of the glory of a finished army.

Talking about the lack of a Daemons codex is depressing. I hate to say it but the only way to make Daemons playable in 40k without stepping on the accountants toes is to Legends every current Daemons loadout, and then rerelease every Daemon with 40k-only sprues. Every version of the kit that includes these 40k sprues will count as a 40k sale instead of a Sigmar. Yes, I AM suggesting that you give every Pink Horror a laspistol.

EC just need to be allowed to use Predators and forge fiends
>>
>>96668927
1ksons only has 7 exclusive kits
WE only has 9 if we count the kill team and some of the really shitty stuff before they became an army
EC only has 7
I’m probably miscounting but i can’t see them all getting their 2nd waves in 11th anyways
Probably a single thing for each, and maybe things they can also share like a new helbrute/dreadnaught that works like the last and refreshes for general CSM stuff they will also use

>>

For some reason 1ksons, and DG lost access to cultists
For some reason only WE gets Master of Executions
I don’t know what they’re thinking
>>

My guess is they want to give EC more exclusive kits down the road and they don't want people to bitch when they remove old units people got for their new EC army like the Forgefiend and other stuff.

>>

There are literally cultists in SM2 and non-pox walker cultists in Darktide
Why would they take away these options
>>
>>96669042
RG Upgrade sprue
>>
>>96669047
Because GW hates options, they give 3rd part sellers the ability to better theoretically cut into their profits
>>
>>96669062
But it would be gw’s chaos cultists I’d be using
Also I liked the idea of using necromunda to proxy for them as well
All of this goes to GW
I guess you can still try to proxy gors for cultists or necromunda, but gors are on bigger bases
>>
>>96669071
Because then a 3rd party person might sell something you could use to make more thousand sonsish cultists which would cut into the theoretical profit of their own thousands sons upgrade sprue that they'd totally produce 10 years from then. Also GW is forced by britains retarded laws to sue over stuff like that and they've lost in the past so they want to make sure it never happens again

It's a balance thing. Dg has enough variety in their tools to be a consistent issue balance wise and the same is usually said for tzeentch and psychic stuff, it's just 10th had them doing a lot less with psychic stuff than usual. WE have been kinda weak outside skew lists and they more than likely weren't sure where ec would sit.

>Legends every current Daemons loadout, and then rerelease every Daemon with 40k-only sprues
This is more than likely what will happen. The current daemon line fits much better into fantasy given the lack of guns and mechanical stuff. My schizo theory is that poxwalkers, the khorne goremongers, and poxwalkers/negavolt cultists were both test poses for 40k daemons

I've seen this man's face too many times to the point of being annoyed by the size of his earlobes but still have no idea who this guy is

He's Robin Cruddace, former(?) codex rules writer and one of the head guys in the 40k rules department nowadays. He is infamous for writing horribly balanced codexes that are either OP for example the IG ones he wrote since that was the army he played or horrifically underpowered the Tyranid codexes for years upon years after he got his hands on them, rumored to be because he lost to them a lot when they were good. Only thing is there haven't been much you could look at in terms of "test sculpts" for horrors and daemonettes outside ephilims pandemonium and even then it's just sortve vaguely pink horror esque and doesn't really show them trying to do anything for 40k. I think they're kinda stumped cause they want something that they could claim is their own creation and copyright, but daemonettes are purple ladies with horns and a claw, and pink horrors are amorphous blobs with weird features, both of which are hard to copyright.

Boarding Action questions. For those unfamiliar - assume that it's just a regular 500-points 40k on the smaller table with a lot of terrain, without any vehicles and with reduced blast effects.
What Blightlords Terminator weapon loadout would you suggest? I 'm assembling the models and can't decide how to glue them.
1) "Plague spewer and bubotic blade" seems like a no brainer, but that's one. What about the other 4 termies?
2) Should I take Combi-weapon option instead of a Combi-bolter? Bolters has more attacks and better BS. But Devastating with Anti-Infantry 4+ seems like a good load-out for Boarding Action too.
3) Should I take a Reaper autocannon?
4) Is there any reason to take a Flail?

Necrons might be more likely to care about their gender imo, if it related to their society. We don't have many glimpses into the culture of the Necrontyr, but it's more reasonable for a Necron to retain gendered identities like mother, or female pride in succeeding in a male dominated space. The vast majority of Necron characters seem to be male in origin, so imagine that being a female leader in Necron society was rare or even controversial. If you got robotofied, you probably would hold on to those convictions even if your sex itself was destroyed because they are an important part of your personal history and values.

Admech actively move away from biological identities as they ascend the ranks, but low ranking ones might hold on to sex based terms when speaking in gothic like in the game Mechanicus like >>96669809 posted.

>>96669747
The humble blight launcher is one of the best guns in DG, you usually get 2+ shots with it and once you tack on infection + their datasheet rule you're looking at S7 AP-3 D2. With gift that means even T8 stuff is within range, and against marines or equals it's 2/3 chance to hit, 5/6 chance to wound, 5/6 chance to kill one outright. Basically anything in the army with a chance to take a blight launcher should take it.

They're terminators, they're decorated and dignified, they are plastic and modular enough to convert.

It's better to turn an uncorrupted armor into a chaos armor than to turn a non-terminator guy into a terminator.

Probably Slaanesh since we don't know about maternaity and Khorne worship.
You'd think Khorne would be the one chaos god most closey tied to mammalian child birth and pregenant women in general. The women is literally creating a skull inside her to brith it into the world covered in her blood. As strange as it is to think about it Khorne should be the one Chaos god most closey worship as a maternity and maybe fertility god. So a queen bee pumbing out eggs and making little bee exoskeletons which are not a skull but are similar could be khorne.

saturn 3 goes on sale for insane deals quite often, and if you can find a LOT barely used because people by them and dont really use them a lot as well. that said, the saturn 4 is a pretty significant upgrade in technical specs and resolution though I don't own one myself. I would just spend an afternoon watching youtube reviews and googling to build up a baseline of info on the differences, but for an entry level printer I have zero doubt that saturn is the brand you should be looking at. You should think about what you want to print before you buy as well, as base plate size is an important factor of if you are just printing marines or trying to do something more advanced (and more likely to fail if you are inexperienced) like tanks or monsters.

I'd like to brainstorm together what changes to competitive Warhammer might occur in the next edition.

But I'd like our assumptions to be more than just wishful thinking, but to take into account the following two factors:

- First, GW makes all changes for commercial reasons. C-level management doesn't understand the rules; they simply want to sell more product. They tell middle management what product they want to sell and how much more. Middle management already understands the rules better and outlines the expected results for the level below – the game designers. Game designers already understand the game like no one else and are thinking about how to implement the requirements from above into the game while keeping the rules simple, competitive, and fun.

- We've heard a repeated rumor that the existing codexes will remain relevant in the new edition. If this rumor is true, it means a lot.
There won't be any major stat changes (at least until the corresponding codex is released. Remember what happened with the second wound in CSM back in the day?), weapon rules, stratagems, and existing phases won't disappear. That is, the changes in the new edition should be at the most fundamental level, and so on.

So with all said my humble guesses are in responses to this post
>>
>>96670069
>Those are flies
a bee flies too, you know
>>
>>96670112
- In 10th edition, we all got hooked on competitive terrain layouts. I think GW will try to ride this horse and try releasing terrain sets for competitive play.

- If the above assumption turns out to be correct, then we should understand that sets with a large amount of terrain are expensive and unprofitable. This means boards will be less dense. This means a rule will be needed to increase the survivability of melee armies. So, GW could very well add a rule for -1 to hit if the target is further than 1/2 weapon range, or a more smart option: + to the save in more than 1/2 range. Similar happened in KT 2018.

- The missions will be just as complicated, or even more so. GW wants to sell us more card decks. Perhaps the scoring rules will change so we have to buy larger decks or do it more often. I don't know exactly how. But i expect something on this field.

- Something needs to be done about the Space Marines' clearly excessive unit list. Perhaps they'll break the units down into detaches based on availability. Or perhaps some will simply be smoothly transferred to Legends, like they did with Kill Team 2024. They might also merge them, although that's too good a move for GW.

What are your guesses?

inb4:
- No, bringing back relics and traits violates second condition
- Bringing back Psychic phase also violates second condition

Now you're talking about a whole different thing. If you had daemonic bee models you could use the fleshhounds or fiends datasheet to represent them. I didn't post the plague drones to say you should use their datasheet, its to point out insects and flying gribbles are very much represented by Nurgle. Just like dogs and scorpions are Khorne, birds for tzeentch and uh... bulls are slaanesh.
>>
>>96670119
kek, cool pic but flies are not hive insects, Demonic hive insects with an extra large fucked queen would be cool, man eating new born grubs, very tough warrior class (which are in ants and termites and not bees but you get my point)
>>
>>96670129
oh yeah for sure but the chaos gods domains do stretch into each others domains and tread on each others toes as well as their sphere of emotion. Thats what the great game is all about, the gods argueing with each other who gets control of what, which never lasts long regardless of who wins. The great game is the process in which the chaos gods 'think' in a way. So nurgle having flying insect creatures doesnt mean he has sole dominion over all demonic flying insect creatures
>>
>>96670136

MFM for wargear and a lot of space marine kits squished down
Wargear replaced with a multi tier system instead of paying per item. Rather than each piece being costed, a tier unlocks types of weapons.

For example, Intercessors will just have bolters, for 10 extra points you get access to a special melee weapon on the sgt and access to the doubles bolt rifle shots, and for an additional 5 he can now take a thunder hammer

I don't think you can really compare the old stormcast situation with space marines, where even the unpopular shit outsells most other factions/games. the stuff that looks up to date with the rest of the range will remain and be used to fill out box sets. moving reivers to legends doesn't make financial sense when they could just write new rules and make them op for six months. there's nothing wrong with the sculpts or the kit.

>>
>>96670300
GW is trying to have some sort of connection between kill teams. Vespides we fighting new flying scions, big ork tank busters fighting small hobbits, daemon worshippers vs a relegious group of imperials etc. Catachan vs a stealth team seems likely with this consideration
>>
>>96670308
until GW brings back vehicle armour, tanks will either be complete garbage or the best thing ever

vehicles being able to be wounded by anything, and varying rules of "automatically wound" in 8th and 9th led to vehicles being shit, melta weapons just deleted them regardless of range
so they buffed the stats beyond 10 in the game for "more granularity" because of this, making tanks T9 at the minimum, and stuff like melta weapons are wounding them on 5s

it's a sunk cost fallacy, rather than go back to vehicle armour which worked for like 5 editions+3 editions of heresy, they keep doubling down on the new system and constantly having to change the new system because it just doesnt work
>>
>>96670308
i can't really tell if this is accurate because i've only ever played EC and my army gets slapped pretty hard by heavy vehicles and mobile artillery just because we can easily reach them but we struggle with high str weapons and armour pen to actually kill them quickly. maulerfiends are pretty good and cost effective at this but they can be easily screened by some chaff.
>>
Why do marinefags put hand flamers on their sergeants now instead of plasma pistols?
>>
>>96670324
You are mistaking the cause from the effect. They release kill team in pairs and then have to figure out some way to make them correlated to justify a box. There are more than enough boxes where the connection is flimsy at best.
>>
>>96670302
If they had a monastery on a planet that could sustain life I could see them beekeeping but I imagine there aren't many bees on Terra or the Phalanx.
>>
>>96670331
>it's a sunk cost fallacy, rather than go back to vehicle armour which worked for like 5 editions+3 editions of heresy, they keep doubling down on the new system and constantly having to change the new system

I dislike the current system too, but please let's not pretend the old one didn't constantly swing from vehicles being invulnerable to being fragile as hell and wasn't constantly changed too.

The only real difference is that at the time one edition lasted a shitload more years, so the pendulum swings lasted more too

>With long, powerful strides, Direnc quickly caught up to the girl. She yelped, eyes shining as she spun and leapt into his arms. The sudden weight unbalanced the slave, and the two tumbled together down the side of the hill, their laughter intertwining as they rolled. Their joyful shouts only grew as they came to a stop at the bottom of the hill, half concealed within the swaying ocean of soft grass.

>Redness flushed Direnc’s face as they settled. Human sexuality was not entirely alien to those who served amongst those who failed at Terra, even if intimacy was. The World Eaters had enforced a rigid breeding doctrine to ensure the mortal populations of serfs aboard their fleets was maintained, even as they raided and pillaged those of the other fallen Legions and those belonging to their own kin.

>Direnc himself had been selected, his size and robust constitution passing him through the eugenic trials of his masters to participate, though the cold, inhuman process established by the Apothecaries of the XII Legion had left much to be desired. The acts were sterilised and distant, devoid of any warmth or humanity. They were more akin to surgical procedures than any means of conveying love.

>With a start, Direnc realised how different his lot in life had become. After growing to adulthood in the dark aboard the Pit Cur, mired in the blood and hatred and violence of life in service to the Eaters of Worlds, he had inexplicably found a Legion of masters who seemed to demand nothing from him but happiness. He should have railed against that, suspicious of the ease of it all, but it was all so intoxicating.

>There was glory in worship to the War God. Blood and skulls meant honour, they meant victory. But here, in this place, in the shadow of another of the divine pantheon, there was joy. Real joy. A bliss that, as Direnc looked down into the maiden’s eyes, he wanted more than any conquest that could be won upon a battlefield.

the first digit (2) denotes size
as these stealthsuits are not bigger than the old ones, a digit increase wouldnt be needed
instead it should be something like the XV25-02 as I believe the extra designation (at least the 2) is "undergoing field testing" but may be wrong on the extra designation part, the XV02 pilot suit that longstrike wears is experimental tho

or they could just say its a new model in lore, the old and new broadsides are both XV88, but the newer plastic model is a newer version of it in lore

Centerpieces are fine in my book, in fact they are fucking awesome, I love big badass dudes and robots in my armies.
I just don't like named characters because it does make the setting feel marvelized + always get in the middle of decent list building + gets in the way of any halfway decent homebrew when you realise all minimally viable 1000+ point armies need at least 1 big named marvel commander character like Guilliman, Typhus, Silent King, Farsight etc just to name a few. Big units can be a pain to transport but I find that issue seems almost absent in 40k compared to AoS (lady olynderbros will KNOW)

If you put big named character the focus is on them, it's not a battle between armies, it's big hero dude and his followers.

Also why is the biggest boss of that faction/subfaction fighting this dinky battle?

Personally I make my dudes generic so they can die, if you wipe me out of the board you have wiped out an army, the next battle may be the same minis, but they're representing another army.

Going to start working on a Dark Eldar army in the near-ish future and at the current moment I'm thinking of doing a squad of Incubi, who as part of their initiation tradition, when they kill their first Aspect Warrior and break their soulstone, they also take and use their helmets.

I'm also thinking about at some point in the further away future, doing an Ultramar Auxilia force made using Imperial Guard and Solar Auxilia parts. But that's just a rough idea kicking around the back of my head at the moment.

He posted an ork too. I doubt someone autistic and mentally shattered enough to spend tens of thousands of dollars castrating himself is going to stop at one army.

>>96671047
holy no games. no one uses them and everyone uses scouts. scouts are so insanely mandatory and OP there is zero room for infiltrators in comp space marine lists.
>>
>>96671018
Space wolves have a less retarded way of assigning roles on a tactical level. Unlike most chapters they recognize that their veterans are better reserved for specialist roles instead of having their skills wasted in the rank and file. All the other chapters are the ones doing it wrong.

>>96671020
Their new lore is that they made a bunch of stable wormholes everywhere on accident so that they could justify bringing Tau into more battlefronts.

>>96671062
>>96671047
I literally only ever run scouts personally. They're good & cheap, and the new sculpts look great. Sometimes I'll run eliminators or a single squad of infiltrators because the 12" no deploy is funny to me but even then, I can accomplish that with a scout squad standing there in a big retarded line.
>>
>>96671019

It's a bit weird that scouts are the cheapest chaff option but also have all the best skills with guerilla tactics, scouts 6" and infiltrators. The core phobos units only get one of the deployment rules each despite being costed as more the elite operatives.
>>
I didn't do any hobbying last month...

The only stable wormhole I heard about is the startide one, is there a map or list of some other places?

In any case I still don't understand why some writer is afraid of giving FTL to the tau, I could understand writing their history as not having it so that they can justify their empire still being small, but we've had some significant jumps in the status quo, it was the perfect opportunity to say "they did it, they unlocked mass FTL, now tau forces can be anywhere"

it's not like the empire doesn't have auxiliaries with FTL capable ships already anyway, so what's the problem?
>>
>>96671013
it's so they don't have to give them anything going forward

>>96671131
would be weird, either
a) It's safer and faster than imperial travel, in which case the imperium would grit their teeth and steal it because it's one of the greatest bottlenecks of imperium expansion.
b) It's worse, in which case the T'au wouldn't use it because they're not as cavalier with their own lives as the imperium.
>>
Anyone else notice how good these threads have gotten now that all the avatarfags hiding behind "I'm just posting models bro" got banned?
>>
>>96671047
Doesn't matter, even if Phobos is the most underwhelm variant of Marines. People still excited for it more than any xenos faction.
>>
>>96671152
>would be weird, either
it can be

c) safer, still FTL, but slower than imperial FTL and reliant on tau AI for navigation.
>>
>>96671182
NTA, I though they had this for slipstream drives or whatever? Still FTL but slower than warp travel as they didn't enter the warp fully.
Did that get retconned?

If you're musically inclined, Epic: The musical starts at the end of the Trojan War and finishes with Odysseus reuniting with Penelope. I think it does a pretty good job showing Odysseus becoming more and more cruel as his journey goes on all the way to the point where he's stalking Penelope's suitors through Ithaca palace like a fucking horror villain, picking them off one by one. Also, Im Just a Man fucks as a song
