Can someone with a model of the Blood Asp (Star Adder) post direct-facing pictures of the front, left or right, and back sides of the model? If so, do the same for the legs if you can-- but keep the whole model in the picture, not just the legs. I need to use them for reference. Post the height of the model in mm as well. Thanks in advance!

Does the new official art for the Grand Titan at all mean a new mini is on the way? What about the Tempest, Hercules, Anvil, Hammer, Albatross, Apollo... we can skip the Perseus, that one is too hard to make look good and not a great mech, juice is not worth the squeeze.

Basically, FWL box when?

In standard rules, are all mechs considered the same height of 2 levels? Or does a tiny mech have an advantage in being obscured where a big mech wouldn't be?

All 'Mechs are 2 levels. Consider square-cube law. MWO/5 has massive issues with 'Mech scale.

no. the art is sometimes canonical. books are the highest level of canon, and they are bad at numbers too. the 2 levels tall is just gameification to avoid LoS fuckery ala' w40K sweaty tryhard tourneyfaggotry. you can replace all miniatures with cylinders of a certain size and hex for each scale of battletechnology.
>>
>>96689910
that's wrong, as its in a rulebook for the game, which is lower level of canon than the books.
>>
>>96689898
Art is the lowest form of canon. There is a difference.

>>
>>96690049

The art is sometimes good and the books aren't so take them down a notch.

Though there is something funny about seeing plain numbers given on an official, modern, overseen product and going "nuh uh! they said they're 30 metres tall in "battletech: trial of the aardvark clan" novel from 1986 so it's wrong! higher canon!"

>>
>>96690513
>>96690517
Problem is those sizes have little to do with what we know about their mass. Commando should be 6, maybe 6.5 meters tops. Unless it is made of pure fucking carbon and styrofoam.

If we use more reasonable sizes:

BA 2-2.5 meters.
Protomechs 3.5-4 meters
Lights 6-7 meters
Mediums 8-9 meters
Heavies 9-10 meters
Assaults 10-11 meters

Your proposed assault is like 25 meters tall and should weight over 600 tons minimum. The torso alone could probably be used to make 2+ Abrams tanks.
>>
I remember when HBS RedditTech tried to declare that mechs were closer to 20m in height till an Aerotech fag quietly pointed out there was no way at all they would ever fit in a dropship if that was the case.
>>
>>96690537
Based on the old art the Commando was all legs so was considered quite tall for its weight class, see pic related. New artwork realized how silly that looked so its become a lot squatter so the older scale doesn't make as much sense for it.

Generally the accepted scale was:

Lights - Up to 8m
Mediums - 8-10m
Heavies - 10-12m
Assaults - 12-14m

With there of course being exceptions in each class.
>>
>>96690457
Install IRC and give it a spin.
>>
>>96689848
If using quirks (but that's not standard rules), some mechs do have quirks represent them being taller or shorter than average (they get more or less benefit from partial cover). Additionally, superheavy mechs are 3 levels tall.

The rules are to some degree an abstraction for gameplay's sake, but it can be assumed the average height of a mech is around 12 m and, barring some exceptions, all mechs are so tall that a 1-storey building will cover their legs and a 2-storey building will provide complete cover. For something like the Locust the partial cover rules still work despite it being shorter than a Warhammer or Atlas because 2/3rd of Locust's height is legs. For Atlas or Executioner, their head might be poking over a building but presumably not enough to make an easy target when moving, and in combat they can be ducking down to avoid shots when necessary.

>>
>>96691172
I'm not the one who decided that it should weight only 25 tons.
Anything that is human like in appearance and is made of anything even close to steel in density goes something like this:
2 meters - 1 ton
4 meters - 8-10 tons
8 meters - 60-80 tons
16 meters - 450-640 tons

Geometry and physics are a bitch. Even elephants weight something like 5 tons and they aren't made of super tank armor, metal skeleton and synthetic muscles with fusion reactor strapped to the back.
>>
>>96691651
It's super science material so it's stronger than steel but lighter than aluminum.
>>
>>96691743
That's not what the rulebooks tell us, anon. Standard armor is not as dense as steel, but it is close enough that you can change one for the other if needed without major problems. And in BT rulebooks are the boss.
>>
>>96690537
>>96691651
That's assuming the tonnage rating is actual total tonnage and not just max load, excluding empty weight.
I mean landers of all type get 3 vehicles per mech when converted and a Shrek sure as fuck isn't 25/3tons
That green bastard is fat as hell
I know its the autistic accountant's choice TTgame but at some point you gotta make some exotic spending classification. Tonnage is tons until you can apply deductible on your return form.
>>
>>96691830
Anon, if its max load than they should be even smaller. And the fact that a mech can carry it's own weight on its back if secured properly (lift hoists) also flies in the face of that.

Here's a compromise for grognards who don't like 20 damage cap.
Your ammo starts to cook off, the mech pilot dumps it automatically. Next turn you can't run or jump, any hit in the rear location kills you, if you fell during the previous end phase you're also dead.

Some descriptions of lights do actually stipulate stuff like this. There's a Wasp in one of the GDL novels that gets described as the head of the mech basically being a big helmet for the pilot, with the rest of him being seated in the upper part of the torso. Of course that's probably because the Wasp head is just so small to start with but still. Precident.

It's highly efficient for its cost, but it has very limited endurance. The Kraken Unleashed plan of basing Mechbusters on a submersible aircraft carrier for sneaky hit and runs is the golden usecase for them. Surface near a target, launch a bunch of Mechbusters to wreck it, get them back and resubmerge before the enemy can muster a serious response. Their landing zone being close to the target means they won't run out of fuel and the attacks being hit and runs means they won't need that much ammo (which is good, because they don't have very much of it.

In the initial Trial of Position to join the Warrior Caste, is it correct that the cadets get a Heavy and are expected to each fight a Light, Medium, then Heavy in sequence (assuming the Trial goes normal way and the cadets don't start a melee)? It seems like they'd have a pretty high success rate if their first matchup is Heavy vs. Light, even if the other guy has a little more experience. That also seems like it would make it really common for low-ranked Warriors participating in the Trial to actually get killed, resulting in unsustainable attrition rates. I suspect I'm missing something. Are there some kind of qualifier Trials to decide what Mech the cadet gets or what opponents he faces?

It's totally rigged. Usually they have no reason to intentionally wash a cadet, but the 'possibility' of making Star Colonel off of your trial is not broadly a reality except when the Clan intentionally makes it so.

Beyond being a piloting savant, intentionally cheated for or lucky as sin, it's largely determining pecking order out of the creches, who gets to lead the star and who all gets shuffled in under them until they get the chops and political backing to advance.

The PGI Clans expansion I think shows off rather fairly that after Jayden pulls his two kills, they send in a ringer with a Timber Wolf to absolutely skull fuck his Summoner. You could argue it was a fair fight, but both how they framed it and the fact they soft-balled you with a Mad Dog and A Myst Lynx first, it seemed like a setup.

I either place the movement dice either behind or in front of the mech to let people know where my butt is. Then I just torso twist when appropriate. I know some people have torso twist markers as well.

I picked up some blue ones, but it's really up to you.

I have variously colored pairs I bought as singles from Chessex. My movement d6s are 12mm, and my rolling dice are 16mm so I don't accidentally pick up the d6s for movement. I have an ovetsized d12 for a turn counter.
I don't mark torso twists. I don't see there's a need to. I do have little pawns I use to mark mechs that have fired already, and mechs that need to take PSRs.

Redpill me on the sword. How do I become one with the blade?

The sword has two purposes
>Punch table strikes give you a chance to TSM headcap in mechs like the No-Dachi
>The inherit -2 makes it good for smacking down fast lights
Personally I think it should have a defensive bonus, like +1 to the TN of physical attacks against you, but no one at CGL listens to me.
