>>96713187>TQ: What is the best in-universe art on a card?
>>96713212No one knows what this is
>>96713215Except the ones who've read the manga.
>>96713224One Piece would be better since it is more popular>NOOOO IT ISN'TIt keeps its own card game afloat and your shit has to surf off some anime crossover game.
>>96713215It's newest movie made more money that Superman and the latest MCU capeslop.
>>96713187I've got a bit of a soft spot for Hanweir Garrison. It's not flashiest card but I like the little bit of story telling going on in it. The whole town up and arms. Ready for any invasion Innistrad monsters could bring their way. Only for the monster to already be behind their walls and a part of them. The whole town becoming a swarming monstrous mass once you meld the land and creature together is cool final note there.
>No you can't tutor for you wincon that's cringe!>What? No, it's different when my deck has 10 tutors for my unlimited tutor engine because it's silly!>Well, yeah it's the entire centerpiece of my deck and it's the way I win, but that's not the point!Genuinely what makes people think this?
Has anyone tried calling WotC to ask if they have Battletoads?
>>96713243Goes great in pic related
>>96713187>TQTerese normie checking in to remind you this dyke is the GOAT and Magic artistry died with her
>>96713309She is overrated as fuck and no one sucked her clit this much until she got political.Cry about it
>>96713310I will cry at your bait, art is subjective but saying noone cared until she was cancelled is very objectively incorrect. People have been adoring her artwork from the beginning, it only got better with time. Maybe you're not old enough to know what it was like back then but Terese art was ALWAYS the staple of the Magic community along with Rebecca Guay, Mark Tedin, Christopher Rush, John Avon, etc. They ARE magic. Fuck off kid
Here is my Saffi deck. I need to make a few cuts for new cards like Angel of Indemnity and Spinner of Souls
>>96713336Nah, you don't need the new cards. New cards are bad. She's perfect just the way she is. Nice signature btw
>>96713340ThanksHere is my newest deck. Mono green artifacts
Thirty (30) starting life is objectively superior to fourty (40)
>>96713336>That saffiJesus fucking pringle
>>96713350Pretty dope, could also use a few less new cards haha. Looks a bit similar to my Lumra deck. Also is that a beta Sol Ring? how much did that set you back? Best Ill ever have is a few revised ones
>>96713356It is bent as hell despite being double sleevedLuckily the new rules mean it can never be tucked so it doesn’t matter. Time Spiral block pringled so much
>>96713361Heheh. It is a Collector’s edition Sol Ring. It has square edges.
>>96713368JUDGE
>>96713362I ordered a bunch of humidor packs for foils like that and they help quite a bit, even if it's somewhat temporary (they curl back a little bit even when double sleeved, but not as bad as before they were treated).
>one more colored pip>stronger removal and a (slightly) weaker token>nobody fucking plays it compared to generous giftWhat am I missing?
>>96713362US printed Time Spiral? I only have like 2 foils from that time but theyre not that bad, mine were printed in Belgium.
>>96713382Sorcery speed anon. You want your spot removal to be instant speed.
>>96713382>stronger removal>nonland permanentI wouldn't exactly call that stronger. Half the reason you'd run Generous Gift is because it can hit lands you need to get rid of. And the other half is Generous Gift is an instant. That's a worlds apart difference.
>>96713382Sorcery vs Instant is massively impactfulSorceries need to be a lot better to be worth it
There is a sad correlation I've noticed between my enjoyment of the afternoon and what my playgroup is playing. Everyone is on some pushed borderline YGO card word vomit that sits at top50/100 on edhrec and then claim innocence when accused of running total netdeck, only to play a 1:1 but still have to announce what everything does since they're all goldfishes and haven't learned the effects yet. At least if they could own their villainy and not cry wolf when their plan gets interacted with, and whatever durdle I'm playing from ages past better stack up to the shit that was designed to go together so well that it results in draw 15, gain 30, make 70 pooled mana, 100 hydras that are 100/100. Combined with attitudes can't really combo either without being a pariah so its "bracket 2/3" but everyone's strat feels dishonest af./blog
>>96713385I assume it is US. I live in the US and bought it in 2012ish? This is my oldest deck and has literally been in these sleeves since 2012.
Lesson means you get a free basic land to hand or something? Solid power for a sorcery but boring
>>96713394You need to communicate better with your group and have an argument about who's being a little bitchboy and what needs to change. But people don't generally change so you should probably find another group that enjoys creativity.
>>96713387>>96713388>>96713392God fucking dammit I somehow misread it as an instant despite looking between the two cards multiple times
>>96713418No worries. That happens. Better here than at the table and only finding out several turns in a game or after a few games.
>>96713418Would you say you've... learned your lesson?
>>96713382I hardly see picrel anymore and it has several benefits over yours.

Does /edhg/ know who signed this card? It isn't the artist and seems the person's name starts with "Zi"
>>96713533Ziql
>>96713187>TQ Impossible to narrow down but the original Norn is probably one of the most striking and visually impressive works in the entire game.Always Watching and Platinum Angel are also up there for me.
>>96713554Always Watching is just a really nice flavor of ominous and intense, even if it's stapled to a pretty lame card. Platinum Angel's pose is so iconic that even the BRO blueprint art works it in and only a couple of printings have ever used any other art.
>>96713418If you really don't care about the nonland part, there's also Stroke of Midnight.
they should make a set with this feel
>>96713309Based. Reminder she will sign art of her cards for free, all you have to do is send her the cards in the mail.
>>96713603What set would make you feel like that anon? What set would you want to come back to or card you'd want to see again or theme revisited that would hit that feel?
Is the Soul Stone associated with Spiderman in particular? Did each major superhero franchise have a gem in their universe? Or is it all just w/e
>>96713620Kamigawa made in 2010.
>>96713382Unironically better than GG
>>96713664Okay so then you're saying that after UB: Star Trek rotates Vintage, to capture the true Kamigawa feeling they should announce a full year of nothing but UB: Kingdom Hearts stuffed with nothing but the most dogshit cards imaginable?
>>96713681Kingdom Hearts as a miniset or even just a pair of commander decks focusing entirely on KH1 would be fucking based. "Forces of Light" vs "Forces of Darkness" with it being headed by Sora and the other headed by Maleficent.
>>96713681I said none of those things anon what the fuck are you talking about. I want Kamigawa before modern power creep, nothing more or less.
>>96713713He's pretending that your desires are read by the execs as "UB UB UB UB UB!!!! AAAAAA" instead of what they are, which is false since UB is already getting an appropriate amount of backlash.
>>96713713>I want Kamigawa before power creepAnon, Kamigawa WAS the powercreep, ironically a failed attempt to stop the powercreep from NPH. It was a failed attempt at the Masques block to Mirrodin 2's Urza's Saga.
>>96713760Anon. He's talking about RETURNING to Kamigawa before powercreep. Holy shit, reading comprehension. Everyone knows OG Kamigawa was weak outside of like 10 cards.
>>96713779Anon this WAS OG Kamigawa.
>>96713760How do you filter for cards that have ever been banned? I can only find filters for certain formats.
>>96713794is:spikey
>>96713784HOLY GOD ARE YOU NOT READING?
>>96713803No. I play Magic. My point was that for a set to truly recapture Kamigawa, that would imply releasing a busted to shit set right before it, and making the set theme deliberately obtuse storytelling with obscure theming (the weeb craze was not a thing at the time, Kamigawa being comprehensible to normal people is a retroactive opinion) that 90% of consumers won't follow because it's a lot of work for an ultimately unrewarding story, hence UB: Kingdom Hearts.
>>96713813>No.Stopped reading there. You are not interested in a discussion or even understanding the desire.
>>96713760>kamigawa was overpowered because it has 8 cards banned in brawl and commanderThis is my last (you) you're getting because you're deliberately retarded. I also have no idea what the fuck yo're trying to say by bringing up New Phyrexia and I doubt you do as well. Don't bother replying to me because I'm not going to read it or give you more responses, cherish this one.
Is this card worth running in vampire decks? On its surface it seems very good since i usually have some bodies to throw away, but the fact that no other lists have it gives me pause.Am I missing a reason why this isn't a great card?
>>96713883its sorcery. You can do better at instant speed
>>96713883>sorcery
>>96713892Not really tho? Instant exile removal is usually either very expensive or has some restrictions on it, besides the two obvious white ones.

What are some of the most uninspired decks/wincons that you hate?
>>96714142t. "lost to cleric tribal"
>>96714147I just used the most popular casual 2-card combo as an example. I haven't seen anyone actually use this in years which is weird given how it's still listed as #1 popularity.
>>96714142Wincons are fine. What really grinds my gear is muldrotha piles that just remove everything and then pass turn for two hours.
>>96714154It's bracket 4 so it can't be used as commonly now
>>96714174That combo is bracket 3, Gavin even used it as an example of a late-game 2 card combo.
What's the worst token you've ever seen?
>>96714174>>96714200Do people actually use brackets?
>>96714200Do you know where he said that? I'd love to have that on hand.If you're right then edhrec needs to be updated because they consistently list it and its variations as 4, someone at my LGS actually reprimanded me for using it in a bracket 2/3 match before because of that.
this is why brackets suck. angleshooters just ramp their combo out way too early
>>96714200>"These decks should generally not have any two-card infinite combos that can happen cheaply and in about the first six or so turns of the game, but it's possible the long game could end with one being deployed, even out of nowhere."From his article explaining brackets. This combo can definitely happen before turn 6.
>>96714209Looks like a secret lair
>>96714162This. Edh players are pathologically afraid of the game ending
If money is no object, what's the "ideal" landbase for a WUBRG deck? I was thinking>10 shocks>10 triomes>10 fetches>last 7/8 slots are stuff like Command Tower, Secluded Courtyard, etc
>>9671445410 triomes seems extremely slow, i'd run more duals with a green bias to utilize ramp.
>>96714320just because something can happen before turn 6 with a dream hand and if you tap out for the 2 pieces over 2 turns doesnt mean its consistently happening before turn 6. If you make a combo deck that has Dina, soul steeper in command zone and tutors for exquisite blood with 10 different cards before turn 6 every game then yea you are bracket 4. Brackets are for pre-game discussion. Just say "my deck is vampire tribal, i run the blood bond infinite but i dont tutor for it or try to cheat it out early, it might happen lategame" in your pre-game talk and i 100% doubt that anyone will claim you are bracket 4 and refuse to play with you.
>>96714466I was thinking I could do that too. I have a few bond lands and slow lands I could use.
>>96714479You're right but try explaining that to retards who think edhrec is law and that brackets don't require context
I went to 3 commander nights at my LGS so far and nobody has pregame discussions, they just deploy whatever deck they feel like and it can be anything from a sub-precon to a $2000 deck with every gamechanger ever printed, it doesn't make any sense and is kinda stressful.
>>96714454Fewer triomes, more basics. At least a few to fetch when someone play path to exile or ass trophy. At least I don't wanna sit there and fail to find a free land when someone removes one of my things.
>>96713350I love Saffi. Wincon? My old Saffi deck won with primeval titan spitting out lands and Emeria Sky Ruin.
>>96714521if you dont like one-sided stomps then you can be the one initiating the rule-0 conversation. Even short "what kind of decks are you guys playing? can help.
>>96714527So like 2 of each basic, the 10 shocks, and 10 fetches then?
I play mtgo because I'm a special kind of autist. People are whiny fucking babies in commander. "I don't play against jodah", says the elf player as he makes 8 elves with one 40/40 by turn 5. "Your turns are too long, I'd kick you out of my pod" says the guy whose turns are just dropping a creature that causes 20+ triggers from "when a fucknut enters...". "Warp world really is a Rule 0 discussion, as it's bracket 4 MLD", despite its in a fucking precon, says the Steal deck player. "Why is everyone ganging up on me!", says the guy with a t2 reanimated 38/38 consuming aberration.
>>96714521At my LGS people generally talk about what they plan to play so we can all get a feel. Generally though it's all bracket 2/3 stuff, and the few cedh guys stick to themselves.
>>96713242And yet no one outside of Asia and terminally online tiktok zoomers know what it is lol
>>96713309Shes alright but >>96713310Is more accurate. You like her cause she made trannies angry or something. Good artist, far from the best.
>>96713382Sorcery speed. But its still an incredibly card and an auto include in most decks that have white.
>>96714551No, you don't have to go that hard. It also depends on your ramp. Having a few triomes is fine for fetching early and easy colourfixing. Especially if you play Nature's Lore, Three Visits, etc. It also heavily depends on your deck. For example in my Atraxa deck, I get by with only a few blue sources easily until I play Glen Elendra at which point I often wish every land can produce blue. So now I'm leaning towards fetching blue a little bit.
Bracket conversations are generally just setting people up to be assholes.>inf damage turn 4teehee its bracket 2, just a dream hand!>unplayable incoherent B1 trash pileI thought you guys said you were all bracket 2, you're B4!Any subjective competitive criteria is pointless. Needs to be binary. If you have game changers, you aren't b2. No infinite combos are allowed before turn 6, even if you have the pieces. No MLD. Outside of these, everyone is trying to win.Either that or start assigning certain commanders/cards point values. "My deck is a 42." "Oh, my deck is a 19." Etc.Or just shut up and fucking play the game. I used to play modern, and if I wanted to play a whimsical deck I just accepted I was probably going to lose. EDH has this bizarre culture of "yea it's only left handed creature tribal, but I should still have a good shot at winning!"
>>96714454If money is no issue then why not put in the OG duals?
>>96714576I'm slapping together a Sliver deck, likely with Overlord or First as the commander. Right now the balance is basically even, with a slight bias to green. I've got the usual Nature's Lore, Three Visits, and the tutors (Demonic, Vamp, Enlightened, Worldly, etc) to help further. I was thinking of running Burgeoning/Rhystic as well to be an asshole, since I figure if I'm already archnemesis from running Slivers, I may as well go all in.
>>96713760Kamigawa was a FAMOUSLY low powered block lmao
>>96714454>ideal means most expensive right?
>>9671445411 fetches10 true duals3 rainbowlandsFiller
>>96714610>he is unawareExpensive cards are expensive for a reason, anon.
>>96714629Damn you are actually that dumb well carry on anon
>>96714599Part of that was horrifically parasitic mechanics that did not synergize or allow play at all with the existing decks at the time while arcbound and affinity were running rampant throughout the game and had no use for anything new besides the occasional new draw power or artifact spell.
repostin but forgot one, was this correct?>have twinning staff x 2, Cerberus 3rd saga(2x)>galvanic iteration -> copied 4 times>bonus round x15>relms sketching x15 -> x45 (45 arcane signets)>narset the original relms>galvanic flashback>sorceress schemes -> galvanic/narset/bonus round>sorceress schemes -> galvanic -> narset x3infinite mana, permanents, etb, casting triggers? https://moxfield.com/decks/1gpNB-2WSUmf4f1dMVDofQAny tips for my Balmor deck?My "considering" section is giving me trouble since there are lots of good sorceries and small value creatures that I can't choose between. Also, do I have too many lands and mana rocks? Are sky and fire diamond noob-traps?
>>96715023You have 30 cards with mana value 2, half of which are red. Most of your costs are color pips, I would cut sapphire medallion. Your diamonds produce colored mana, which is what you badly need.
>>96713779>>96713713>I want kamigawa but without the good cardsThey did that, it was called Kamigawa Neon Dynasty and that shit got panned hard
>>96713784Erayo should be legal change my mind
>>96715075Neon Dynasty was a Cyberpunk 2077 set with more anime references.
>>96715115I've been saying that for years.
>>96715023>21 creatures>12 of which don't create tokens or burn >10 cards with CMC 4+It's a solid list, but in my experience you want your curve in Balmor to almost exclusively top out at 3 mana, just cram as many repeatable token generators and guttersnipes you can with that restriction and reserve the rest of your deck for cheap cantrips and rocks, ideally you will be going fast enough that nobody will be able to stop your snowball before you run over the table with 30 19/1s with trample
>>96714793This initial math is wrong, I think but it seems like you unfucked it later on cuz the rest seems right.>Galvanic is copied 6 times: 4 from Cerberus, 2 from Twinning putting 7 Galvanics on the stack

>>96715168Did you read the very first card in the image?

Reworked the Jared deck after the bullying.
>>96714793Twinning staff is +1. Saga ability is +2 on the next, so +4 total with 2 twinning, 5 with the original. Each galvanic is it's own copy trigger, so it will get +2 from twinning. 6 galvanic = 18 copies + 1 of bonus roundif you cast an instant or sorcery that turn, you get 17 x 3 = 51 copies

How popular will the Jaws secret lair be? I'm hoping it's the least popular because I really want Jaws in my deck. Praying it's not instantly sold out.
>>96715531>have to burn 2 mana on to ramp into a basicYeah but I'm also paying 2 more mana and thus have to hold up 2 more mana compared to PathIt's certainly not unplayable but I'm not sure it's as good as you think. Gift makes a vanilla token that gets deleted even by flickering or bouncing, that makes a land using a token that's harder to remove. The lander also doesn't come in tapped so they can crack it before their next turn if they have the mana. A single vanilla creature isn't getting much done in most games whereas Emergency Eject effectively gives them a colorless copy of Rampant Growth.>>96715566Path is also 2 less mana and exile instead of destroy

>>96715491>man children game The sheer out of touch delusional COPE you seethetard geezers make lmao I bet you still think 2015 was just 5 years ago.Fortnite is still one of the most popular games for under 21 year olds, and basically every guy under the age of 30 has played or at least heard of it. One of the biggest Twitch streamers in history who still has 18+ million followers is a guy who got big playing Fortnite. The only manchildren game being talked about in this thread is Magic The Gathering, and that's what's got Hasbro so worried.Thr reason they're going so hard on UB is because Magic's playerbase are a bunch of out of touch greyhaired grump millennial/gen xers actual manchildren who haven't been hip to anything nerd culture since 2013 and Commander night at LGS's were starting to look like old folks homes. WOTC has totally and utterly failed to bring young people into the game in any appreciable numbers, they don't know how to design cards that appeal to younger nerds, they don't know how to create stories and characters that appeal to anyone (remember that winner Loot? Literally Porg tier lmao).I know you oldfags seethe at the passage of time and you want everything frozen in you nerd prime, when Stomp Clap music ruled the radiowaves and smart phones were the size of ipads and nobody had even heard of these newfangled things like bitcoin and streaming, but time moves on, things need to evolve, and in order to keep the game going and financially successful Hasbro needs to start bringing in young blood. Their own staff have utterly failed to make anything visually appealing to people under 30, so they have to rely on other IPs to bring in people who aren't crotechy old pissgeezers who don't even like the game anymore but are too stupid and cowardly to move into other games or finally grow up and find something that actual adults do.Everyone is tired of your "back in muh day" grampbitching. Evolve, or grow up and stop playing.

>>96715896He does it for free
>>96715866Isshin is a good generalist Samurai commander, but if you're too much of a hipster for him (fair, he's extremely overplayed) then Raiyuu and Chishiro are also cool.Generally tribal decks tend to be inconsistent and kind of boring to build because most tribes are either A) undersupported so you wind up running a lot of do-nothing draft chaff or B) so overloaded you can just slough them all into a pile with no identity or consistency (dragons are particularly bad about this). Samurai are the former, a large number of them come from the underpowered Kamigawa block and their most defining shared trait is the Bushido keyword which isn't very strong or interactive either. However, a lot of the newer ones have good abilities that work well with combat-focused decks, so you might want to build around that instead of just putting as many Samurai as possible in there.Slivers are also pretty "boring" in that regard but it's their gimmick, imo they're cool BECAUSE the tribal synergy is their entire identity.

Some Samurai encourage what's known as "Voltron" where you focus on slapping a bunch of big buffs to your commander and then winning with Commander damage, and more generally they tend to have synergies with Equipment (all artifacts) and attacking alone or with small numbers of creatures - so you have one big guy you turn sideways to rip someone's arms off and then support pieces to protect him and guard your own board if he's tapped.https://youtu.be/zx4CDcZkaSEThis video might help you with learning how to look into cards and see how they play together. Being able to tether yourself to a group identity in fantasy is just an easy win>DominariaMostly standard fantasy fare, although I don't like how much it is tied to planeswalkers and "the plot", the cards printed for Dominaria sets very nicely feel like generic fantasy. All I want is a storyline where antagonist turns antihero. Like, a necromantic hedonist from the Grixis, let's call her Seressa, the Crimson Dirge, properly goth and edgy, decides the Multiverse has grown boring and she launches a one-woman crusade to make it interesting again. She storms Tarkir to fuck up Ugin, fries Jace’s brain on Ravnica just to watch him blush as he questions his thirst for goth baddies, and finally frees Nicol Bolas only to tell him he’s utter disappointment and she expected better of him than to get trapped and be rescued by random nobody who did it for the lulz. Then, as Bolas faces the heroes who realized what is going on, she she invades Eldraine to rewrite every fairy tale into a gothic tragedy, because book of good endings is terribly boring. But when she is faced by the heroes who want to make her pay for her crimes against multivers the real buzzkill - the Eldrazi - threatens to snuff out all flavor on Innistrad, which is Seressa beloved home. She hijacks the Gatewatch’s last stand, fuses her art with Emrakul’s madness, and reshapes horror itself into performance, while mocking the Gatewatch impotence.Give me Grixis style cosmic opera, part dark comedy, part eroero goth horror, a tale where chaos wears lipstick, dragons get therapy, and the villainess saves reality just to keep the show going.
>>96716700I was reading the thread and found your post to be stupid so I commented on it.People jump in on my conversations all the fucking time and then get pissy when I assume they must agree with the things someone else said since they're siding with them. >>96716700>>NTA lemme just go to bat for a random personI do this a lot. It's part of having a discussion
I feel like my OC would fit pretty well into the magic universe, maybe even be the best. Typhon, Lord of Super Hatred, his powers come from the tourmaline bargain, a WUBRG based wish spell that feeds on each colors hatred of each other, and runs a bureaucratic world divided into nephilim color pies- defined by each colors dislike of the missing color, and they routinely abduct other planes' people to under the guise of bringing them to a better, civilized world, all while instilling them with hate to feed the wish spell, the leaders of each pie hate each other but their constant rivalry and undermining consolidates power to typhon and his tragedy elemental. also typhon offscreens the entire current magic cast and fast forwarded time, burns down bloomburrow to be hated, but also destroyed edge of eternities plane by collecting mirari and the endstone, giving him the balls of fury
This has to be one of the worst threads of all time it's just two retards fighting or at least one retard getting baited constantly
>>96716726>Not liking ZendikarDon't think I said that. I just didn't list it among planes I found evocative.Very strange fact for you to invent.>or planeswalkersYeah, I said I'm not big on the "plot" of Magic. It was silly for there ever to have been a "plot" and the entire reason planeswalkers exist was so they could have characters that act as a throughline across planes. The setting never needed it, it was a crutch, they exist purely because there was a fear that without traditional story telling, players would be less engaged with the setting. We were already meant to be the planeswalkers. We were walking between the planes, that's the only justification that was ever needed for all the different planes to exist. Nothing was added by making named characters planeswalkers. And I think this is born out in the trajectory WotC went on. Planeswalkers were desparked, half of all sets are just random fucking IPs as "UB". No one ever felt that attached to planeswalkers and I'm not sure why you're treating them like some make-or-break aspect of enjoying Magic.
>>96716777>>im going to prove i read books by asking chatgpt to name books for me>Incredibly self defeating "point" lmao.I didn't have to tell you I asked chatGPT, my point was that the reason no one engaged with your retarded purity test was because nothing would be proved by engaging with it. I asked a robot to jump through the hoop you created, and it did.
>>96716800Planeswalkers aren't even the interesting part of Zendikar, the interesting part is elves vs cthulu
>>96716813>didnt have toBut you did? And therefore the point is null, you dont read books, and when attempted to name some you do you had to get chatgpt to do it for you. Im not sure what on earth you thought you were proving besides the fact that1. You have a dishonest disposition (asking chatgpt would've never even occurred to me)2. You dont engage with fiction.
>>96716830>You have a dishonest dispositionBy telling you the truth, that your hoop was stupid and had anyone wanted to they could have fooled you?>asking chatgpt would've never even occurred to meYeah I'm getting the sense you're not very smart>You dont engage with fiction.I engage plenty, but as I've just proved, listing off a bunch of fiction doesn't prove that someone does engage with fiction, which is why your hoop was stupid
>>96716800Finding a bunch of knockoff hat sets more compelling than zendikar (or dominaria for that matter) does indeed suggest that you don't particularly like MTG as a setting, yeah. Which makes it weird that you fancy yourself the arbiter of what is and is not Magic

>>96716874In what way? Because sets based on myth and fairy tale aren't 110% autist-certified original? Then nothing is? Everything ever printed in Magic has been based on folklore and mythology and previous works of fiction. The difference between that and UB is that some effort had to go into building a setting from the ground up, making choices about what aspects of inherited fiction they liked, what they wanted to spotlight, what they didn't want to include. >>96717085Are you fucking retarded? The key part of the sentence there is >characters being insert[ed] into it to justify the settingI never said I didn't like Magic having characters. I even explicitly fucking mentioned liking the lore of Marina Vendrell in Duskmourn.I just don't think planewalkers as characters needed to be added into Magic. I don't think Magic needs some throughline plot told from the perspective of these characters. It was a panic move from a team of people who worried that without traditional story-telling that players wouldn't engage with the setting of the game. You know they ultimately thing that this failed anyway since they desparked the planeswalkers and then just gave up on any consistency by dedicating half of all sets to UB where there isn't even any fucking story or returning characters. It goes like this>"in this game YOU are a powerful magic user, travelling between dimensions, calling on techniques and heroes you encounter there!">oh, neato>"um but uh uh uh ummmmm please don't hate us if we go to a plane that doesn't resonate with you- um oh fuck, shit- look! Look look look! We have characters for you to attach yourself to! Isn't Jace cool? Don't you love Jace? What's he up to on this plane, huh? No...? Uh how bout Loot? Isn't he cute? You want to follow Loot from plane to plane right?">cringeIt's unnecessary. It shows a lack of confidence in their world building. >>96717142Sir, do you not know that the original two major plots of this world were "going to different planes with our characters"??? Urza and the Weatherlight. I love self-contained planes too and wish they would bring that back, such as Mirrodin, but that ship's sailed.

>>96717140Because bracket 2 doesn't exist. Precons are.
>>96717652I build energy + tickets Jenova
Every deck is a 3.No, your deck isn't a 2 unless it's an unmodified precon. No, your deck isn't a 4. You took game changers out of it to drop it down into 3.No one plays bracket 1.Bracket 5 exists but no one "has" a cedh deck, you pick a deck out of the meta list like a character in a fighting game. It's not yours and it's probably proxied anyways. Not that there's anything wrong with proxying of course, but the point is that it's not a deck you built in the same way you'd build a normal deck.

>>96717785Fair honestly. Who can be bothered to add so many sets and maintain inventory if shit is just getting rapid fired onto the market.
>>96717701No I'm pretty sure some of mine are fours. Taking the game-changers out isn't going to help I wasn't running three of them to begin with. Are we forgetting Brackets are intentional again? It doesn't 'end up' a 3 or a 4: you're trying to make it fit there by deck-building decisions.
>>9671783090% of people would rather take a field of the dead out of a bracket 4 deck and call it a bracket 3.Nobody intends to make a bracket 2 deck and the ones that do are just making bracket 3 decks.
>>96717879That means they're both targeting a 3 and if their deck isn't fitting there they need to make changes in the power until it does. If it isn't playing about on par and targeting about the same turn length, they either need to fix it or stop lying to themselves and others about it.While I'm happy to have it try its luck against 4s, I'm starting to think my Voltron deck is probably better off targeting a 3. I need to play it more against more decks to know for sure.
every deck should have some amount of lifegain. not enough that you become "you have the most health so im attacking you" lightning rod, but enough that you can sometimes push your turn-clock back a cycle.
>>96718170you should, just so you aren't extra vulnerable to burn and rushdown tactical
>>96717648I highly recommend him. I'm considering cutting either my discard subtheme or my sacrifice one and I have no idea which since both are so useful and have their own ways to victory or controlling the game.

>>96717730This is a problem even with online retailers (if you're a leaf like me). No single retailer has all the cards I want, which means I have to buy from minimum 2 different sellers (realistically 4+) even if I want just a handful of cheapo commons/uncommons, which means I would be paying way more just for shipping than the cards themselves.I took the proxy pill because of this annoying bullshit. It's easier, cheaper, and way more convenient just to throw together a proxy order than it is to try and buy company printed cards.

>>96718456Standard is the slop format, idiot
>>96718474Your fucking "XD PIGGY SLOP" meme you adopted was LITERALLY ABOUT COMMANDER and not UB.
>>96718470>UBfags all go back where they came fromYou didn't have to sell it to me anon
>>96718481good luck scaring off people who have played for 20 years
AHHHH HELP ME HITLER IT'S SPIDER-MAN! NOOOO MY MAGIC SANCTITYAnyway I cast Myojin of Life's Web on turn 4 and then remove the divinity counter to put Avacyn, Ghalta and Mavren, Two different Jin Gitaxias and an Elesh Norn.
I wish someone would start one of those "okay hand sign/pepe the frog" cancellation campaigns about the word "slop".It was literally propelled into popular usage by /pol/ talking about "goyslop", you could easily convince normalslaves to think they're using a fascist dogwhistle when they spam "slop".
>>96718508Not really. I saw it used for AI far before any /v/ shit.
>>96718508The word is "normalfag", anonYou can say faggot, can't you?
>>96718480Not me, everybody knows standard is where the pay pigs are, the secret lair aren't exclusive for edh
>>96718542the payest of pigs are in Vintage thougheverbeit
>>96718522Then you weren't on this site enough, "goyslop" predates popular usage of AI image generation. It came from /pol/ and /ck/ in reference to low quality junkfood, its more abstract usage that is now commonplace only arose as a result of people on other boards applying to their interests, I.e. bad games, which then seeped into the rest of the internet.>>96718535Yes, you're a faggot nigger kike and i curse vishnu.
>scrimblo brimblo bad>scrimblo brimblo brought to you by Carl's Jr goodWhy are slop piggies like this?
>>96718567NooooooooooScrimblo is a meme for pro UB usage only
>>96718361Because they have too many to choose from and get overwhelmed so they just go with what everyone else is. It's bad for the format.Back in the day when you had maybe hundreds, there was way more diversity.
I wanna make a ultra Timmy deck (read: a pile of ramp and draw in to huge ass crestures) and thought those thicc bitch could be good. Looking online seems most people play them as a token slop commander. Thoughts? Or should I seek other commanders for big creature
>>96718645there is one god of ultra timmies
>>96718457>Yeah but you can't do anything about itOkay? Do you also not discuss things beyond your control? How you feeling about politics in your country? What do you think about the quality of your favorite tv shows? Or new albums from your favorite musicianYou can't control any of those things so I guess you just don't talk about them, right?
>>96718645Lol this card seems evil as hell with how easily those colors can shit out and multiply creatures and tokens
>>96718567The entire point of this is not that scrimblo brimblo is bad. It's that whining he isn't on the card is bad. You can like Scrimblo. The problem comes when you begin throwing your feces because Scrimbro Brimblo wasn't on the card and instead Waggin Willy is.
>>96718657I had them built before, they're fun but I am looking for other commanders
>>96718661Yeah but its also not a good way to give creatures keywords.
>>96718672Then the reverse should be true, yes? Final Fantasy should have its characters replaced with Magic the Gathering characters, and Final Fantasy fans shouldn't get to complain, right? After all, mechanically it's the same game, and if they really hate it that much they can go back and play the old games, right?
>>96718677oh ok, if you want to stay in naya colors you have zacama who's ramp-timmy prone in playstyle as well as mayael of the anima, in adjacency i'd say eshki from the precon is also stompyish but a lot of people build her as aoe nuke from her triggers, animar just makes shit cheaper. Staying in gruul the new Rhino from spider man seems like ok stompy as he allows you to fuel your hand longer
>>96718695No that would suck because nobody likes Gayce and Trandra, but FF characters are mostly pretty solid.
>>96718672>don't like ub: McDonalds? You're just mad it's ub and not scrimblo on the card
>>96718677>they>themGo back
>>96718713>I like this IP so it should get to ruin the game you enjoyUBpigs are such sociopaths i swear to god
>>96718728No

any pitfalls to be weary off when building Klothys? She kinda grabbed my attention as sorta reverse-color yshtola when it comes to clocking people
>>96718784You aren't funny
>>96718741Excellent plan, let's do a ravnica type set but instead of being themed around 10 guilds it will be 10 steamer organizations/esports teams or some hit. Slam dunk big money.
>>96718798Foid hands typed this
>>96718784
>>96718508It's one of those myriad meme words that used to be offensive and effective at first but crybaby retards nobody likes ran it into the ground by calling everything they disagreed with slop so it's lost its edge and relevance. Makes sense that anti-UBfag spams it incessantly in this thread, since much like WOTC they couldn't come up with something original that people like to save their life and have to rely on popular things created by others. The irony of that being totally lost on them of course.
>>96718741Cant wait for UB: grocery store items. Where you can play as the jolly green giant or the hamburger helper glove
>>96718816>urza playerJew detected
>>96718800They’ll do that, but with k-pop
>>96718829>outing yourself as a UB newfag like this
>>96718645Jetmir wants a wide board. He's useless if you're trying to ramp and stomp.
>>96718830That does sound more lucrative. Kpop fans don't give a fuck about anything.
>>96718661The evilest thing Jetmir can do is just dry swing at someone with a moderate amount of small creatures, wait for blockers to be declared, and cast a spell to make tokens at instant speed. Four 1/1s turn into 32 trample damage with the full buff going.
>>96718816>literal troonhandsOh no
Actually embarrassing coming here some times.
>>96718846I fucking hate how normal it is to be a koreaboo now. I know an actual literal Korean in high school and we mocked him for telling us about Korean girl groups even though he hated them and was complaining about the shit his sister listened to

>>96718894uhh yes its absolutely a pubstomper deck lol are you new?
>>96718924>the autist is going to unironically defend those literal stub nails as normalMy nails are long, anon. I can pick up a Magic card real easy without even touching it with my fingertips, can you imagine? Imagine the sensation of having long nails sliding across a neoprene playmat
>fails calling him brown>immediately starts crying he must be autistic and a troonYou can stop posting any time, anon.
>>96718920I'm autistic and chew my nails compulsively but it's not cus I don't wabt them to brush against things.I got fake nails with my gf once and it was actually rather enjoyable to have long nails and run them across stuff.
>gay white urzanon posts hand, immediate seethe from the four brown nogames losers that play this gamePeople need to start posting hands more, this is the best thread in weeks.Anyway anyone else excited about turtles? I am, but I'm the exact demo that would be so thanks for catering to my personal brand of slop WoTC
>>96718934Post nails and deodorant
>that player who takes every game action against him personally
>>96718952I knew showing Urza and only Urza would generate the most seethe from the local poor poos.Turtles is meh. I wont buy or play anything from it. The only UB I have ever cared about was LOTR.
>eldrazifag with a deck worth thousands pubstomps our table game 1>I target him at the start of game 2>other guy at the table says I shouldn't because it's a new game and i shouldn't make decisions based in what happened beforeAt least that guy got raped by the eldrazi dude first.
>Urza player desperately trying to defend his investment now that he's getting buttfucked by brackets
>that player who takes 10 seconds to perform any game action>theyre playing izzet
>>96718988I admit being in the strike zone for both turtles and spider-man. I mostly buy non-collector singles though. Pic related has been really fun to play.>>96719021Did they change decks at all? If it's the same deck than yeah you're definitely right, but if it's a different deck it could just be eldrazi anon didn't match table power correctly.>>96718982My current pod doesn't have this issue. Current problem is a player that swings out into someone with open mana then gets booty-blasted when there's a response
>>96719050No he played the same eldrazi deck both times.I was planning to take him out early to mitigate the threat but i guess that wasn't the vibe at the table.

Had RSV and was first symptomatic 8 days ago. Feeling mostly better. Am I safe to go to EDH tonight, /edhg/?
>>96719438Just make sure the place is properly ventilated and take something so your symptoms don't help spread it. Otherwise, you are most likely (but not surely) fine.
