Regen Crocs vs Laser-Eye Corps, who would win?
>>96716232Some questionable design choices by the author. IIRC, it's supposed to be something like generic level-appropriate buffs to the previous options.

>>96716441I like this CYOA, but I've always thought it feels like a beta and could really do with being more specific and balanced in places. Like, I think most people would pick wizard by default, but does wizard start with all their spells or do they need to slowly learn them over time is something I always wondered because it seems to imply the former but the latter would make more sense. I've never seen the previous version >>96715758 but having done so makes me more confused, as that is not only better presented than this newer version, but it seems more balanced. It states explicitly that wizards need to slowly learn chosen spells; this new one is changed for 'new spells' only.So just gain all this magic and don't need to study at all? That seems to make the wizard option weirdly imbalanced, since 'you don't get these instantly, you have to learn slowly' seems to be the wizard drawback that makes other options worth considering.Like, if you gain 18 runes of power from wizard instantly, who would bother with the Ritual option that gives you less power and needs multiple items to make it better?Even the challenges: in the old version it seemed like Sorceror and Ritual were the only ones granting you instant power, and their drawbacks made up for that. This one is handing you worlds and quests to use your power on, but with this shit instantly available from the start you're a goddamn demigod and shouldn't be challenged at all. Also the All-Potion option for 1 point? Any potion you can think of for one point? Potion of youth? Healing? That's enough to replace entire schools, that could be a class choice by itself at the beginning, it's crazy.

Seems pretty generous, actually, though the having to spend at least a point in everything not to be affected detrimentally is a drag.Let's go first with eliminating weaknesses:>Sunlight Weakness 4.Grey skies are gonna clear up, put on a happy face...>Feeding Amount 3One nonlethal feeding every 20 days seems relatively doable...at least if I get other benefits which would make it easier for me.>Feeding Style 2Significantly reduces the obviousness of what happened; benefits above this level are pretty minimal and don't really seem worth the investment. That's 9 points used, 15 remaining; 9 categories remain (ouch) of which you can potentially skip siring strength without being crippled, or shapechanging if you're comfortable with the current state of your body. Let's call it 8 mandatory, leaving 7 "extra" points to play with, plus any from optional weaknesses.>Shapechanging 1Reasonably fit is fine, I don't feel any pressing desire to turn into wolves or bats.>Appearance & Charm 4Pretty privilege is real. At this point the difficulty of getting blood is quite trivialized, I could just ask people if they mind my nibbling their neck for a moment.>Minions 1Just to eliminate the uncomfortable aura. Minions actually seem pretty worthless unless you get up to level 4.>Toughness 3Not getting hurt in the first place seems preferable to recovering from it quickly; going all the way up to 4 is tempting, but practically speaking probably unnecessary.>Recovery 1As above. It'd be nice to get up to 3 for limb regeneration, just in case, but...>Strength 3Moderately superhuman, suitable for a CW show.>Speed 2Peak human speed is good enough most of the time.>Stakes 2Since it bypasses toughness, I feel I need to put a bit more than normal defenses here, I don't want a random blow holding a stick to pierce my chest. This puts me two above, so...Weaknesses:>Threshold>CrossBoth potentially addressed with Charm.

Last we hear of him is that he was alive, and retired to a monastery to meditate in peace for the rest of existence. This was before Charlotte conquered the Mithraic humans though, if he's still alive that means she left him alone or he escaped into hiding, and if he's dead that means she killed him. We don't know, thought Charlotte is the type to kill anyone who might be strong/wise/old enough to resist her.

>>96717884>>96718673>>do you guys think you could beat the archdemon with only level 2 combat powers (and no magic)?>I wouldn't think so, but then I'm naturally a pessimist.Wait, you know, I was glib there and I take that back. Much of the idea of the Archdemon is that no matter WHAT personal combat power you have, the odds are greatly stacked against you if you try to defeat him by yourself - that marshaling the other forces of the world in the face of this apocalyptic threat is the most likely course to victory. Leading that charge yourself as a powerful figure can of course be very beneficial, but it's not obligatory, and you probably WOULD have a better shot as a personally 'weak' leader and guide of the forces of mankind than as a T3 Combat Monster who tries to solo Satan.

Your biggest opponents are the more-or-less 'good' goddesses, I don't think a vulnerability to unholy powers is too likely to be relevant.Otherwise, Vampire could also be good if you also take Adaptability, which explicitly calls out its ability to address vampires' weakness to the sun. Although there are two oddities/interpretation issues with that. One is is that it doesn't explicitly say it can modify YOUR OWN race, only that you can summon racial variants suited to different environments. The other is...what exactly DOES that mean for vampires? Do day-pires need to have a different weakness, as a mere 'variant specialized for a different environment?' Or are they strictly superior?

Outsider solipsism makes a million times more sense than dragon solipsism. As an argument in the meta world, it should be proportionally stronger. Also, in the meta meta world, it’s literally true. The characters in the CYOA are words on a screen. Just fiction created for (you) to enjoy.
>>96719523I'm here for the waifus. Don't bother me with your philosophy.

>>96719523The eleventh outsider didn't exist though. *I* do. It's not going to be useful to them because they're just as imaginary as everyone else in the story. They're not Me, they're somebody that was made to agree with Me in some respects. I could even play with Outer Reincarnation's world as any of the predefined characters if I wanted to.
>>96719523Outsiders are equally fictive from the perspective of us, the readers of the CYOA. They're just characters we made for our entertainment, except for the ones that Tank made. None of this is relevant inside the fiction.Inside the fiction, Outsiders are just a soul, a body, and a spirit between the two, same as everyone else. We're not even special for havingn glimpsed the meta-world -- everyone does that in their dreams. The only things that makes us different from the world's natives are our memories of another world, and the opportunity to write our own fate that was granted to us by the elder gods. Neither erase the reality of other people, or even make us more real in comparison.
>still talking about ORI loved the update but maybe it's time to let go for now?
>>96719568>>96719597Even in the world of OR, every single person is canonically a character created by the Elder Gods. Whether hand crafted, made in bulk, or simply developed by chance, the people are characters in a story. The only difference between a person and a SRTR sockpuppet is the impartial observer that is a soul. The exceptions are, of course, outsiders. The Elder Gods didn’t make them. This fact is not trivial. As a consequence of being what they are, outsiders have some measure of control over the setting. To be a guest author is an inherently higher position than just a character. With that in mind, it’s not wrong to call outsiders the only real people. The rest are just NPCs created to make the story more interesting.>>96719677What the fuck else are you gonna talk about? Another thread of Danmachi/Mushoku Tensei sperging?
>>96719677But what about the meta meta meta meta narrative?!?!?
>>96719715Also, yes, obviously the 11th is a character created by (you). It’s just that (you) as the reader are the one with ultimate control over the setting and both your character and tankista’s. Your character IS inherently more important because it’s your headcannon and you can make up whatever retarded bullshit you want to make up.
maybe you should post good cyoajust a suggestion is all
Reminder that this has been solved for a while
>>96719769How about you solve your life next
>>96719715The Outsider System, the very tool of your guest-authorship, was made by the Elder Gods. The choices you are presented were curated by the Elder Gods. Fate is in full effect while you're making those choices, too -- Vedi proves this. The guest-authorship that you're elevating as justification for solipsism is as much a part of the Outer Gods' story as every other choice made by every other ensouled being in the world. "The whole story is already written, you're just in the middle of it."As far as earth-souls being more real than ORworld-souls by virtue of being from, that's simply not true. Tank isn't getting into the metaphysics of our world, but every indication in the text is that the souls on Earth made by God or some pantheon or random chance or the interactions of matter that created life are the same kind of thing as the souls made on ORworld by the ORworld Elder Gods. OR souls could just as easily be moved to Earth by application of Xi as the other way around, and Dei can resurrect Aat as a remembrance with a different soul same as anyone else. The Elder Gods run their world on narrative logic, and Earth does not, but in both cases the ensouled being is bound by the rules of the world they inhabit. Your soul simply happens to be from a world with different rules. This does not in any way imply greater reality or diminish the reality of the souls made by the Elder Gods in ORworld. You're imagining a hierarchy between Earth and ORworld that does not exist in the text.
>>96719844>VediSo does it offer you up as a free and mandatory mentor, or are you forcing the 12th to spend destiny points on you? What are they even going to learn from most Vedi builds?

True Outsider Solipsism doesn't necessarily have to be true to work, as proven by True Dragon Solipsism. You're just going to be vulnerable to getting Vtorusha'd. >>96719965No, he's working on another wip instead
>>96719950It works by fate, so it's the same as everything else which is fated to happen. Whatever needs to occur to make the destined event occur will occur. Maybe the Outsider System will happen to select an outsider from cold storage who would to want to pick you. Maybe 12 will misread your description, and you'll seem cooler than you actually are. Maybe 12 will hate you so much after reading your description that they pick you specifically to give you Kako. Maybe you will just be free, or cheap enough that you feel like a steal. Fate doesn't really tell you how it will happen, only that it will happen. As far as what you teach, it's probably an improved or changed version of what one of your mentors taught (you). One is trying to pass on Mithra's philosophy to (you) if you're his kid. 0^0 is giving you an improved version of what Shaytan taught her. Keter is giving you application of Oilea's teachings, using the interpretation of death slots that she learned from her mentor to dodge them.
>>96720033If you put it that way I suppose mentors end up being the most important part of your build since their teachings are ultimately what you pass down to future generations.
>>96720070I mean yeah? All the Outsider's biggest feats were born from improving on or combining whatever they learnt from their mentors. Everything else is still important, but what you get from your mentors tends to define your build more.
>>96720082Well, aside from Sarmat(his biggest feats were done in character creation), and Savmak(he's a complete gift merchant)
>>96719844>but the elder gods chose to choose youThe Elder Gods choosing to let (you) help them write their story is not the same as the Elder Gods writing (you). It’s a fundamentally more powerful position. Just because you don’t have free reign over a collaborative project (you do, really, you just choose to play with blessing of jnpl) doesn’t put you on the same level as characters that can’t write anything. Even the Elder Gods have agreed not to create contradictions.Fate is the hand of the author. It has nothing to do with your choices, except as the instrument through which they play out. It obviously doesn’t affect you when making your choices. You wouldn’t be able to make choices otherwise. If this weren’t true, the body of an outsider would hold no power. Not just the one given to them by the outsider system, but every body they inhabit. Do you think One’s body was randomly able to create a replacement for the god script? Outsiders are closer to Elder Gods than they are to natives.

I have yet to see a SFW interactive that's good, but I think that's probably more a complete lack of authors putting in any effort in that space than it is a fundamental problem with the medium. So yea, I'd give it a shot.
I'm amazed at how few images of blood dripping swords there are.
>>96720318trashsword compact?
>>96720318Something like this?
>>96720338Yep. I decided to expand the intro page with a little section of the type of pact you're sealing with the trashsword, but images are tricky. I might have to go for symbolic images to keep up the pace.
>>96720356Something like that, yeah, but I'm trying to find a pic of a sword on its own to fit the others. The pact type where you assert your dominance over the sword has a hammer beating a molten blade into shape, though, so hands could work.
>>96720370Any restrictions on dimensions? I like image hunting and have nothing better to do
>>96720360Damn you're already at the image searching part?I'm still writing the script
>trashswordwho wants a sword in this economy. we need GUNS not sticks
>>96720436Guns are gay.
>>96720379None whatsoever. I've been resizing them to fit 400x400 pixels, but not before editing them to keep the quality from dropping too much. I would seriously appreciate any help with this, that, and I'm trying to find a pic of one of those swords giving off steam for the eternal pact type.>>96720391I haven't been planning out much longer than one section ahead of time. I do have an outline, though. There'll be a few abilities and powers that have varying costs and an extremely small point total, but every enemy you kill gets a few more points. I've got a vague idea that you're hunting a demon worshipping cult to stop them from causing the apocalypse, largely because I've saved a good chunk of grotesque demon images I've been meaning to use for something like this. Image searching and then editing for me is definitely the hardest part of the process, the actual writing is fast. That doesn't mean it's good though, kek. I'll have to go over it with a comb later.>>96720436The trashsword is free and has powers, including a cheap choice to make it not look like trash that it advises you against. The price of ammo is insane these days.
>>96720461this'll need cropping but it's large enough to crop, and he's holding the sword out from his body so it'll just be a disembodied arm once you crop
>>96720526has a nice splatter. Some of the blood looks dry tho, if that's a no-go
>>96720539
>>96720436Guns literally started off as sticks that can shoot miniature arrow tips if you want to be truthful.

Plus I can Warp and am Zoolingual. And with my 1 remaining point, I'm getting an Astral Bestiary. So, I am effectively kitted out to be an absolute monstrous bastard, which kind of sucks, since I'm not into that whole scene. I don't have any real offensive magic, but I can make a lot of shit.I think I'll go for "A God Among Men" and completely break the setting.Combing Creation with Necromancy and Fleshcrafting would give me the means to make an army of Death Knights with AK-47s riding motorcycles, supported by flying monsters of cataclysmic sizes.Nature gives me a natural fortress where I can make a literal fortress where I can expand from and conquer the world in the name a peace through superior firepower. The other 'god' is going to be a pain, but Chronomancy magic will allow me to try and try again until I can finish him off. Eventually one of the times I transform into a dragon with as many RPG-7s as I have scales will be enough to kill the bastard. Then I heal the land, heal the people, assimilate the monsters that I don't see fit to eradicate, and continually heal and/or shapeshift myself young and healthy for forever, living as a philosopher-sorcerer emperor. And then I'll make sure my forces look classy while they keep the peace with their pieces.

>>96721179Haven't made a build yet but I like it enough, though I don't approve of the stats being so arbitrary aside from being a failure check. I feel like you should implement them into a few more basic mechanics, like requirements to unlock missions or special modifiers (tech, units, etc.) if you pump them high enough. Otherwise, they're mostly just there as flavor numbers.
>>96721464I wanted to add more metrics, but I also wanted to see builds if any get posted so I can see 1. what kind of builds people end up going for so I can see how people spread out their 'points' and specialize their company. I haven't done much testing on my own beyond just finishing the CYOA so i'm not sure what strength a company that specializes in a single stat would look like, or if most people would try and spread out in a few areas.

The Shelley series of clone soldiers were cheap, reasonably skilled and loyal. Alas, the war was over by the time Batch 40 was ready to be deployed. The shoddy indoctrination meant Batch 40 promptly left the Hado military to start a mercenary company in the hopes of founding a nation of Shelleys so they can one day restart the war the Hado Empire lost and win it.(1/3)
>>96722090>Company SizeLegion5000+ Shelleys, with more coming soon the moment the Shelley Company sets up cloning labs on Planet Shelley. There are a few non-clones, mostly in support roles. The Batch 40 Shelleys were the last clones to be developed for the Clone War. Their training and combat capability were refined thanks to data from previous batches though their indoctrination was rushed. Total loyalty to the Hado Emperor took time, especially considering the cutthroat nature of interdynastic politics, so they simply programmed a commitment to winning the war and following orders. This also resulted in Batch 40 Shelleys having minor personality variations - all Shelleys are cool, taciturn soldiers but most would have extra personality traits that do not contradict the main template personality.>Leader ArchetypeThe ShieldShelley 40-1 was the first Shelly of Batch 40 to be born. The first Shelleys of a batch were born earlier than the rest so they could receive indepth officer training so they could lead the Shelleys as an assistant to the Batch's commanding officer. 40-1 is a reliable older sister to the Shelleys and wants nothing more than to protect them. She often feels tired from her responsibilities and wistful about living a civilian life but is quick to push these irresponsible thoughts away.>PresentationStrict RegulationProfessionalAny TakersBrigadeNo BiodiversityLinked ConfederacyStrict Code of EthicsOpen ContractingScorched EarthTotal Loyalty>The CompoundForge Nexus - Planet Shelley.
