It's just social media in general (and yes, 4chan is social media) - the more builds your CYOA has, the more worth it it is to spend effort making a build, as there's something to compare it to. That's why over on Reddit you have so many interactive CYOAs lately (or at least, there were a lot the last time I checked, IDK now), because interactive CYOAs requires almost zero brainpower to make a build for outside of the fantasy of the CYOA and imagining how cool you would be in it (or whatever the fantasy in question is). The only reason OR gets so many is because A. most people started on V1 which was more manageable, and I imagine it formed the foundation for a lot of newer builds.
