>TQHorrowdeep
>>96722468>Which has been your favorite Underworlds season to date?Fuckin' easy, Gnarlwood and Wyrdhollow (I'm calling them one season because GW sped up releases too much) we got the Looncourt and Plaguepack which were fucking amazing sculpts and fun as fuck to play. The little book rat being able to just zap everyone on whatever half of the board he was on was fucking hilarious. I racked up so many points just having him in the backline and slow warbands running towards him. Other than that Direchasm was fantastic, felt like the best of times before the price hike and gradual changes as time went on with Harrowdeep. (Which evened out eventually, just took GW a bit to get their shit together)
>>96722498These guys need to be a generic Darkoath unit already
>>96722468>tqGood old shadespire as a setting remains unrivalled. In terms of sculpts, probably direchasm? Crimson court, dread pageant and hedkrakka's madmob (rip) are some of my favourite sculpts from their respective ranges.
>>96722510Actually good addition to the TQ, if you could have any individual model or gang from Underworlds be made into a full unit box what would you want.Other than the obvious IDK crab being part of some crab based swarm, I really fucking love the weird slaanesh daemon gang. Getting a unit of weird mixed up slaanesh freaks on par with Thricefold would be fucking amazing. (Basically putrid blight kings for Slaanesh)
>>96722527It's basic as hell but Garrek's reavers while being relatively simple, for some reason has one of my favorite all time sculpts from GW. The energy behind this guy just swinging a massive fuckoff axe like he's about to cut you in two.
>>96722548All the BoK warbands (except the last one) are pretty great in terms of sculpts.
>>96722510I think they work better as a special character with special retinue, they're too peculiar we're allowed to have this type of units now
>>96722558Was about to say, you better not be dissing fucking gorehulk. Then I remembered the weird poorly painted skinny.... Whatever the fuck they are warband. (Cute dog thingy though)
>>96722566Are any of these good? Like, not just model wise but do any of the weird black library gangs do anything worthwhile?I wound up with Cado and the vamp lady (no snake man, but I got Arkhan on foot to replace him) and have yet to get a game in with them.
>>96722582I think C&T were meta for a while. Or maybe i'm thinking of Van Densts
>>96722498>Gnarlwood and Wyrdhollow (I'm calling them one season because GW sped up releases too much)I think eveyone counts the same setting as 1 season. Like it's just part 1 and part 2
>>96722498>>96722510entire warband is great. Honestly every darkoath unit that isn't from the actual main game release mogs it to oblivion.
I think that after years of not being involved in the hobby, spearhead might be the thing to pull me back in. Apparently it's a good game, cheaper to collect, takes less space and less time to play. The gobbos on wolves look neat.
finished this fat fuck. What have YOU been working on??>>96722683yes, spearhead is fun. Never used the wolf riders before so I can't speak on their playstyle but I don't imaginet they're among the best. They can get really expensive if you want an army made mostly of them though.
>>96722734I've been picking away at my nurgle guys as well! Don't have any updated pics rn but here's my WIP Nurgle Daemon prince. Hopefully my friend should be able to hook me up with the unsheathing sword bit soon.
>>96722683Spearhead is very popular, best thing about 4th hands down. Wolf guys are fun in spearhead, but just a heads up if you wanna expand into sigmar proper with them they're very expensive to collect, and not that good at the moment. But their spearhead is fun and a decent deal.>>96722733Is this the cheap ironclad you were talking about last thread? Hysh based kitbash right ? Looking good so far, what colour are you thinking of?
I think skaven should have a new named character for each great clan and an AoR for each one starring said character.
>>96722783>Is this the cheap ironclad you were talking about last thread? Hysh based kitbash right ? Looking good so far, what colour are you thinking of?Yessir! Though i'm caught between having it be blue for celestials since they help stuff fly etc etc, but the luminark is pretty explicitly a hysh thing so white would make more sense. But Azyr working with some Kharadron and donating a relic to help the ship would be pretty sick.
>>96722734Finished my first set of Dawnriders last night. Was too humid by the time I could go out to varnish them, so I’ll try tonight. I want to know who hurt the person responsible for the assembly design of them.
>>96722734As long as the wolf rider spearhead is not so bad that it's impossible to win it's alright. Really cool that GW developped this game mode, this feels approachable. If I enjoy it I can buy other spearheads or even the other gobbo one to start a proper AOS army. Damn I'm actually really excited for this. Can't wait until I can start posting my wip here.
>>96722807Those are clean as fuck anon, I dream of the day I can output something of that level.
>>96722783Yeah I don't think I intend to collect a full AOS army of wolf guys, but this spearhead would be a fun beginning to a gobbo army. I think there is a wolf rider named character I would like to paint though.
>>96722784They haven't even though of all 13 clans yet, much less make characters for them

>>96722939>>96722784I'm not big on Skaven but I think at the very least they could add a clan Eshin regiment of renown with ninja rats. there's plenty of mutant and funny warpstone tech rats, sneaky backstabbers would flesh them out more

>>96722964>and gimmicksWell go on, let's hear it then
>>96722734>>96723147Started work on my big bull last night, too. Hoping to get the flames done this weekend. Should be interesting since I've never done flames before.
>>96723147>>96723159The purple and gold is working out quite well anon, makes them look very opulent. Nice work on the banner too.

>>96723159>>96723147was making them emporers children intentional, or did you just land on purple/gold for the color scheme?
>>96723206Actually pretty cool. Rrhein sounds the most fun to me
>>96723206>skurvy: seagoing piratesShould have seen that one coming
>>96723206I like your idea with tridtch, they could go heavier into big machines and have big mole monsters
>>96723230They were basically born from the question of how the fuck skaven as a people would have looked like in the years immediately after their creation with the fall of tylos>>96723242Those were already canon, I just glorified them into the last of the expanded list of major clans

>>96723189>>96723474Thanks guys, I was definitely going for a more royal-looking scheme as I feel that perfectly embodies their chaos-fueled greed in color form.>>96723224I got the idea from emperor's children for purple and gold but mostly it was just because purple and gold are a kickass combo.>>96723430Like the other guy said:very. Though I will say that you should dry fit your shields on the arms as I didn't and therefore had a few of my cohort's shields knocking against their feet or resting on the ground by mistake. It's not very noticeable but it's definitely annoying when you've painted everything and then realize your models don't actually fit together perfectly.
>>96723942>>96723430Crap, I'm stupid. The bull's arms are still pretty posable but you will have to cut just a bit.
>>96723818I know what their symbols are now or can be, I choose or made the ones I did specifically because I think they would be the best for each of them. The new canonical one for eshin in particular is one I reject because it wasn't an eshin symbol beforehand and because if anything eshin is noted as having no real symbol, they're cryptic like that, leaving scratch marks that are identifiable only by other members of eshin, but the old symbols in the studios models were a hand holding a dagger, or an approximation of it, or shuriken/trikselion like symbols and I think that fits best.
Top five AoS factions who love fat bitches!>5. Hedonites of Slaanesh. They love indulgence, and that includes gluttony. A Slaaneshi's life goal is do literally everything they want all the time, if and when that includes fucking a fat bitch that means that Slaaneshi loves fat bitches more than anyone has loved almost anything else. It's low because this depends on want, but when it does happen it happens at a great density. >4. Beastmen, and yes I am counting these. >3. Fyreslayers. These are dwarves, arguably the dwarfiest dwarves. They literally spend their time digging and slaying monsters for their metallic god, you can't get much dwarfier than that. As such they also love fat bitches and fat pints of hard liquor.2. Maggotkin of Nurgle. They love bloat, harsh smells, and life. The bigger she is, the more biomass she represents. Also, the bad smells indicate strong colony growths. >1. Ogor Mawtribes. The foundational torta pounders. I cannot possibly do their torta pounding justice.
>>96723862How did pestilens fumble so bad anyway. I guess the better question is why gw focused on them in particular so much, since they only had shitty old sculpt and their gimmick was already done by nurgle.
>>96723995I think the image I posted was some shit GW slapped together because the 4e tome still has the old esshin symbol
>>96722734Finishing up my last dino rider.>>96722807Big fan of your knife-ears anon, very clean and crisp.
>>96724119Thanks. I love your lizards and how vibrant they always are.

I'm thinking about starting either LRL or DoT force.I read somewhere, that in both factions you can create pretty varied lists covering mulitple playstyles. What would you recommend and why?

>>96724445Well you'll love the blue colored orks who love going fast on the waves and hanging ten, the Beach Boyz
>>96722468>TQBeastgrave, without a doubt. I loved (almost) every warband released during it, the game was imo the most fun version of itself and IT FINALLY GAVE US A KURNOTHI WARBAND!Given my love of centaurs and borderline fetish for Wood Elves you're likely not surprised to learn that Spitewood is also the most interested I've been in Underworlds in years.
>>96724476yeI wanted to solve the question of why skaven don't use necromancy, and a boogeyman/antichrist that cracked it and grew so powerful with it to monopolize undeath in skavendom, and made it immediately taboo for everyone else to try the same seemed the best thing.while also keeping it as thing that exists in one exceptional corner with reasons why it doesn't spillover. skaven are so paranoid that they wouldn't have underlings if they could do without them, the winged rat with necromancy can do without them, so he's the one and only exception without anyone else he shares vampirism with, also because it was probably a one in a lifetime event that allowed the curse to pass from a human to a nonhuman, it's not a given it's possible for him to make more vampire rats, but arbitrarily saying he doesn't try it in the first place works better for his character.
>>96724595Is necromancy something all races can use in whfb? Only really see humans do it usually.

>>96724839Umbraneth discussion is usually pretty chill with people giving their own desires for the aesthetic and playstyle of the army; until some retard pipes up saying they should be DoK or Malerion should adopt Deepkin.
>>96724882In a weird way, yeah it kind of is.
>>96724884Don't get me wrong, I acutally want Umbraneth and I want them now, but it always devolve into sperging. If it's not the Morathitard it's some butthurt digger complaining about elves.

>>96725181The way they price characters is so weird. Looking at some more dwarfs, for kharadron, the admiral is 26 euros. But then the codewright and drekki are both 32. The named character with his bigass balloon, only 2 more than ungrim who is just a dude. It's a very weird system.

>>96725153>Huskk Gnawbone was an infamous Skaven born to Clan Gnawbone. Known as the Black Seer by the whole of Skavendom and feared even by the fearsome Council of Thirteen, Huskk was versed in Necromancy and his powers were said to have come down from the Great Necromancer Nagash himself. Dozens of generations old by the count of the Skaven, he was also known as Huskk the Heretical. He took the name "Gnawbone" after slaughtering his clan of birth to the last ratman and would conquer or destroy several more starveling Skaven Clans, including Clan Grubrr.>Huskk was a cadaverous Skaven with a noted disinterest in Warpstone. This is because he sought greater power, which could be found deep in forests of Athel Loren. The Hour of Shadows, a window of time where the power of chaos would wax and the powers of order would wan, was upon the forest and with it came an opportunity to claim the power concealed in the Golden Pool. There would be those who would attempt to foil his plans, however. The Council of Thirteen, unsettled by this rival power, had sent many Grey Seers, armies, and even a Seerlord of their Order to see Huskk destroyed but the Necromancer had slain them all. The Grey Seers and Seerlords were re-animated as Horned Wraiths, undead rat-mages who did the Black Seer's bidding.>However, for all his power and Huskk was merely a pawn to a more powerful being in a larger game. To see his goal made reality, Huskk would ally with Grey Seer Nashrik, a grey-furred rat mage sent to assassinate him by the Council of Thirteen. However, after seeing the vast gulf in their power and tempted by the offering of Warpstone by the Black Seer, Nashrik forsakes his previous masters lest he share the fates of the Grey Seers that came before him. The pair successfully battle their way into the enchanted forest and to the golden pool, but a host of Slaaneshi Daemons is summoned in the midst of the fray.
>>96725305>Nashrik is slain by a Fiend of Slaanesh and Hussk Gnawbone comes face-to-face withe malevolent presence hiding within the golden pool.>An ancient Keeper of Secrets, older than Slaanesh himself, had been imprisoned within the pool and found no favor in the ratman that come to steal it's power. In the creature’s hands, a bladed staff of silver and white shone with the brilliance of starfire. Even from a distance, he could tell it was no natural denizen of Athel Loren, nor yet some strange manifestation of the fey. He was reminded of Ywain’s words, her insistence that the Warden of the Wood was not a creature of the forest but rather something far older.'I wonder what happened to the Old World's Zoats when it went BOOM. Considering Ghyran or Hysh for maximum elf battling; could do Ulgu but we really know fuck all about Ulgu compared to the other realms, and shadow dwarfs are probably less narratively interesting - and would probably have a really boring color scheme.
>>96727677is this a new zoomerism
>>96727683Ghyran would be really easy. The industrial makeup of smiths is already at odds with the nature of the realm and the sylvaneth itself.Hysh is an oddball realm to me so I can’t really comment on that.
>>96727683Fire fits HoH, so Aqshy, but that is not an option for you. One of the major factions is located in Ghur. Metal would make sense because Dwarves love shiny things.
>>96727736I’m sure Sylvaneth souls and wood burn pretty colors. Lots of other Chaos armies fucking around, too. Might just be better to narratively be from a busy realm, more to do. Besides, Kurnothi have nothing compared to superior BVLLS
>>96727880I was thinking of painting the fires blue instead of green because Tzeentch is the kind of god that would gladly hand over his lesser daemons if he thought it was funny or it was part of one of his many plans.
>>96727816Major factions are currently in Aqshy, Ghur, Chamon & Shyish - wanted to try and do something different. In theory Chorf lore indicates anywhere where dwarf holds existed are possible places for Hashut’s whisper to reach; the other anon had a good point about the industry theming vs ghyran; even more reason to take more war machines and flamethrowers. Nothing like playing the cartoonishly evil industrialists destroying nature for fun and profit!
>>96727937The fuckers at Greywater would gladly trade with them.
>>96727917I’d be lying if I said half the reason I was considering Hysh in the first place was because I had an errant thought about what color burning Aetherquartz would look like.Pink and Blue Tzeentch flames would work really well I bet!
>>96727944Helsmiths proving themselves better allies of Order than fickle tree elves or husband-napping murder elves? I see nothing wrong with this.
Now that the dust has settled, why did the Helsmiths of Hashut flop?
>>96727953I imagine aetherquartz looking violet or some kind of purple.
>>96727816Is that AI generated?

>>96729604Merry christmas!
>>96729222Please please please Christmas
Canonically every city in Aqshy has at least 1 street named after Vandus
>>96729222Hello. GW insider here. The release will be on Christmas. This monday there will be a preview showcasing the models.
>>96729701Ok mr insider what will the other heroes be?
>>96729671As they should have
>>96729671Is that really so strange? Didn't he basically save the whole realm from getting fucking cannibalized (as in literally eaten) by Khorne weirdos?
>>96729925I thouhgt he stoped Khul from assembling a planet destorying super weapon
>>96729222I legit thought this was a box for ToW until I saw ToW mentioned.
>>96729977ToW wouldn''t have a god faction
>>96727683AoS dwarves don't hate elves. You're thinking of total war warhammer ;)
>>96729671Canonically every Sigmarite city in all the realms has public recitals of the Saga Vandus once a week, and this has been a tradition for over a hundred years.
>>96729996even warhammer fantasy dwarves dont have hatred: elves. just distrust from old grudges, but they arent like hostile on sight
>>96729998Are these recitals mandatory?
>>96729671>quo vadis>io vado in via vandus
>>96730003Why'd Gotrek immediately try to kill every Elf he met?
>>96730019Because they are elves.
>>96729998I swear if they retcon Vandus as a stoic Ruination hero instead of the crazed war machine he currently is I'll drop this slop
>>96730019He distrusted them to live is all. It's just an uneasy feeling not a hatred or animosity
>>96730027He has to get his act together eventually. Khul leveled up, so he's the one that should stop him.It would be 100 times worse if they invented a new SCE guy to fight Khorne's chosen
Given dwarves survived End Times through sheer skill, while elfs had to be artificially rewilded long after ET, early duarding culture would have no concpet of an "elf" and likely no pre-concieved notions about them
>>96730027Vandus returning as a Ruination murder-machine where his flaw is a urge to destroy Khul to fight Daemon Prince Khul would be a wallet-emptying event
>>96724865Nagash doesn't have a claim on skaven souls, actually just chaos souls in general. The all go to their patron god of choice. Im pretty sure they can maybe try out some chaos aligned necromantic stunts but knowing them it probably wouldn't last. In truth he doesn't have a claim over most non death factions' souls anyway. The only ones that come to mind are>Cities of Sigmar>Probably Idoneth Deepkin>Kharadon overlords>Fyreslayers>Sons of Behemat>Gloomsite Gitz maybe unless they're under Gorkamorka's protection like orkz and ogorsEveryone else has their own afterlife soulpot they can go to and Sigmar can pretty easily nab Nagash's shit.We really are the underdogs and Nagash's cause is the most noble in all of the mortal realms. Nagash shall reclain what is rightfully his. The dead know their master and they come at his call
>>96730048I'm reminded of the exchange between Grungni and Tyrion where Grungni said "the duardin were in Hysh first" and Tyrion countered "and now it's elf country, suck on that."
>>96730055Fairly sure every Git soul gets absorbed into the Bad Moon's mass
>>96730019gotrek tries to kill everything he meets
>>96730055>Everyone else has their own afterlifeThat is something nagash is trying to change. Those "afterlives" are often still located in shyish and can be invaded. Same happened to the afterlife of Katakros' people and that of his rival clan.
>>96730055>Nagash doesn't have a claim on skaven souls, actually just chaos souls in general.Nagash has a claim in ALL souls, he just fucking hates skaven and ordered any and all souls from them destroyed The skaven afterlife is an exception to this, in the same way other afterlives are, but nagash is going to claim them all, because he has a claim on all souls of the dead
>Da, this shit is fucked.>I know, lass.
>>96723206>>tridtch: premier engineers, builders and diggers of the underempires, but underappreciated, mole-like features, and some unique worm beasts at their disposalYou're missing the primary engineer rodent
>>96730082Yeah, the series opens with him killing a human called Felix
>>96730117Poles can't be villains and Skaven are an evil only race
>>96730063The ghost for Stinkmullet exists >>96730042>nothing in the narrative matters SLOP
Leak the new aerial warfare rules from WD already.
>>96730137>nothing in the narrative mattersHonouring the narrative that's at the orgin of the game is stuff actually mattering.Nihilistically discarding the protagonist as a grimderp warning is Last Jedi tier cringe
>>96730146In the last jedi luke saves the day and corrects his mistakes? Vandus shouldn't have his condition cured, his reforging flaws are at the core of the narrative. It's not revisionist, Stormcast aren't Space Marines and immune to psychological and spiritual injury.
>>96730160>corrects his mistakes?Literally HOW? He taunts and laughs at Ben (who we knoe is a good guy inside), when his mistake was not beleiving in Ben to begin with. He's just doing the exact same shit that got everyone killed before
>>96730164He apologised, shows him he's nothing to be afraid of an imparts the lesson that he'll carry all his misdeeds with him? He saves the last of the resistance, facing off against an Imperial assault single handedly >b-but he's like a hobo Watch Hidden Fortress
>>96730048How the fuck did early primitive elves/humans/dorfs show up in the mortal realms anyway. Like pockets of survivors from mallus, were they seeded there, are there primeval godbeasts that spawned them like for squigs and shit, like wtf was going on
>>96730172Dwarfs had some shit about digging so deep during ET that they fell through time and space
>>96730172The spirits around Mallus manifested. Gods made the rest. This is only ever addressed in a 2015 launch period white dwarf article so it's safe to say GW don't give a fuck and they may as well be convergent evolution from Realm Aepes
>>96730182pretty lame they should split aos from its whfb roots and just make it its own thing
>>96730172>How the fuck did early primitive elves/humans/dorfs show up in the mortal realms anyway.Imagine chaos as a great rake catching all the pesky mortals of the world like they're fucking leaves.A few leaves got left, thrown into the same clusterfuck that birthed the realm and out of sheer luck emerged unscathed.
>>96730236They did? Realistically no one is going to get into AoS and seek out ten year old White Dwarfs to know. They've never brought it up again so the presumption is that, like the Aelves, the Humans and Duardin were made by their gods

>>96730115Does anyone actually give the slightest shit about Brand's Oathbores?
>>96730324The minis look alright. I heard the books are pretty subpar though
>>96730342Their novel is okay. Not spectacular but not bad. Just inoffensively average. Probably worthwhile to someone who got invested in their plotline in Dawnbringers since it picks up right from the second that arc closes.
When are we getting some substantial Darkwater news?
>Silver Tower>Shadows over Hammerhal>Blackstone Fortress>Cursed CityDid anyone ITT play all of the above and feel confident enough to review them or at least relate how they differ from each other? Never played a Warhammer Quest so I've no idea what they're about in a mechanical sense.

>>96730407Monday if we're lucky
>>96730407>When are we getting some substantial Darkwater news?Feeling withdrawal, anon? Desperate to CONSUME like a good little pig?
>>96730418Idk about 40k Quest but they're relatively homogenous. >Dice pool actions, one use equipment, random dungeon generation and/or preset layouts, enemy behaviour tables, choose your own adventure side game, etc The only real difference is that Shadows over Hammerhal isn't coop by default and Cursed City added a damage dice phase alongside some meta game stuff like campaign trackers and leveling up classes. Cursed City is bloated and clunky, but Silver Tower is too barebones. The important part is homebrew is easy and both are well serviced with enemy/hero cards, official, or fan made alternatives.
Anyone ever scan the Wyrdhollow rulebook? The only one I can find online doesn't seem to have the lore section and that's all I really want to take a peak at.
I hope one of the heroes is an orruk, to have AoS get more for Orktober than 40k 3rd year in a row
Had a dream about a tsundere skaven girl who was trying to intimidate me by watching me in my sleep and telling me of her legions of rats living under the city, only to then ask me on my opinions of which were most scary. Some other intimidation tactics were to eat a baby outside my window but she couldn't find one so she gnawed on a portrait of a baby instead and killing some old people and puppeteering their bodies but the old lady smacked her with a broom. In the end she sabotaged her own invasion plan "on accident".She was also like 3 feet short and pickupable.
>>96730631That's a side effect of earwig larvas hatching within your skull. You should take anti-worm pills ASAP
>>96730625Are gitz still classified as orruks?

>>96730172Some dwarfs managed to tunnel into the aethyr and then dug themselves back (presumably with the ancestor gods' help). Elves and Humans escaped in Larielle's pocket realm with Araloth (so canonically every human is a descendant of a Bretonian). Also some seem to have been just randomly spat out into the Mortal Realms like how the gods were.>>96730289Is white dwarf using fucking AI for its articles now?
>>96730768>>96730810Shame the new WU rulebook isn't in there. Where's my Spitewood lore?! T_TTY though anon <3
>>96730913No idea, I was giving for granted it was among the scanned things, I realised afterwards it wasn't the case.Maybe it will appear next week or something, dunno.
I still can't get over that James Workshop couldn't even be bothered to figure a map.The topography is too vague; thee will never be an important or iconic location ever again, that isn't encapsulated in a limited run boxed-set game that you'd better get while the getting is good.No geography means no definitive stakes for anything, and everything is vague and arbitrary; if you cared to, you could calculate how many days ride from Averheim to Blackfire Pass, and if a buncha Norscans raid down the coast, you know they're going to hit Nordland, Marienburg and northern Brettonia, probably in that order; it gives everything a sense of place. It's the second worst thing about the setting, after all the WHFB legacy characters that are hanging around for purely brand recognition reasons.Sorry to be a downer; some of your Chaos kits are nice.
>>96730972I prefer the great parch over any other map gw has dished out for its settings desu anon. I wish the map for Hysh wasnt what it was but its whatever.

>>96730972Every realm bar azyr (it's in the cuckshed for the time being) has a map of one of its continents were 99% of the narrative takes place. The great parch of aqshy especially.
I thought the map for chamon kinda sucks, but then I had to remind myself that a good portion of population is probably skyborne, so it kinda makes sense why its so fucked.
>>96731183it would be nice if there was a sky map with the various skyports, aethergold streams, and other large floating objects.
>>96731183Chamon is indeed one of the worst realms, but there's a reason for that: tzeentch fucked it up on a royal level way more than any other god did anything remotely similar to any other realm, save perhaps skaven with this bit of aqshy >>96731149.
>>96731013A location has to have a place.it has to have a place relative to other locations. It has to be locatable in proximity to other things.AOS has no map; it is definitionally a mass of vague "anywhere".It is too loose to mean anything; there is no broader context to any battle.Who cares if your city falls? It was a paper thin construct, without even the depth to postulate any real consequences. How can the border collapse under the weight of invasion, if there is no border? How can lines of logistics be threatened if there is no sense of scale? To where do the survivors flee?It can't even really be described as a coherent "setting" - it's half built and half borrowed from something better.>>96730984Aight, I see it; looks decent, but is it fleshed out at all?The Old World's map is bristling with battle sites and landmarks with substantive lore, and remains of old narrative campaign plotlines of yesteryear; about four decades worth of world building. This map is on it's face, fine, but is also one of a handful of "floating points" in a setting that morphs and squashes and stretches to accomodate any narrative; give that map a decade or more of stories and modules fleshing it out, and we'll see.But thus far?Too vague, too dreamlike, lacking enough innate structure to make "building your own" feel meaningful, because what's there to integrate it into?I guess there's the micro-setting constituting the ongoing conflicts of your play-group, and their forces, and that IS the sort of wargaming that I'm into; but I prefer to do that on my own terms, and if I'm gonna do half the fleshing out work myself, I'd rather it come with less baggage reminding me of something that was better. For AOS to reach me it would have to run a serious narrative campaign, on a fairly stable map, and then build on that basis, and for it to not be revolving mostly around hand-me-down characters who's plot arcs all concluded when their fucking planet blew up.
>>96731235why do old world trannies feel the need to shit up the AoS thread instead of actually talking about their game in their thread?
>>96731235>A location has to have a place.>it has to have a place relative to other locations.>It has to be locatable in proximity to other thingsThe significant locations we have have all 3 of those.

>>96731257>>96731298>>96731639Gw really shot itself in the foot by not having these maps ready day one because 10 years later retarded grogs still think the mortuary factory is the height of aos cartography. Which is not their fault per se, but when they then grumble about shit they clearly know nothing about it becomes annoying real fast.
>>96731235>muh logisticsNo offense but the biggest problems the old world faces are hordes of marauders coming from the fucking north pole. Any sense of scale and logistics is lacking from warhammer in general. Somebody post that image of a high elf capital that looks like a theme park.
>>96731975that's more of an issue with aos being unable to hook new people and being still doomed to try and enlist a preexisting group of people that were fans of other versions of warhammer.
>>96730647>>96730813is there a collection of these?
>>96732035In my experience the vast majority of aos players I meet at this point never played whfb. Lotta new people and 40k refugee (themselves also new more often than not). That being said, yes, thinking of aos as successor to whfb is just not going to work, even though that's how gw presented it. You gotta view it as it's own thing entirely. As annoying as grogs are, it's not hard to see why they are the way that they are.
>>96732054Not a collection but I can share the artists twitter when I have a chance.

Anyone got a scan of Helsmiths of Hashut and/or Kharadron Overlords to share? The fluff parts, specifically.

>>96731975Are you telling me it isn't?
>>96731895I am like 99% certain that the people who post "aos is dead" and "tow is dead" are the same people because they're always equally unnecessarily vitriolic
>>96732068I've never played any of the games. I'm pretty much just a hobbyist and lore fan and was introduced to Fantasy by Total War. From my perspective, AoS has the models down pat. There's scarcely a bad one and the only real issue is GW discontinuing them all the time. I have very little lore knowledge compared to what I know of Fantasy and 40k, but from what I understand it's largely fine. I believe the realms used to be essentially infinite expanses where basically nothing mattered, but now they have some sort of limited territory that can be used and conquered. Which is good because it gives a sense of stakes, but it isn't as hard as it was with Fantasy to have events happen since there's more space to play with and it's not all one contiguous world. There are some pretty good books from what I hear too, like Hollow King and the AOS continuation of Gotrek. Having only read the awful Castle of Blood, I can't say much on that.Do I have it pretty much right?
>>96730972I actually play TOW and even I don't give a shit about this sort of thing; in fact I find the specifics a bit stiflingIt's just like "my guys are... somewhere in the Dark Lands so I base them to suit that" for me

The whole setting of Shadespire, it's lore and the sort of gameplay/story opportunities it presented is one of my favourite parts of all of AoS and I'm still sad GW left it behind. It'd be fucking awesome if they did a "Return to Shadespire" sorta thing, maybe a boxed game or as a setting for the new edition of Underworlds. I love Wood Elves and Kurnothi so the current setting for Underworlds, but I miss Shadespire :(
>>96732897Isn't shadespire just gone, like the entire storyline resolved itself?
>>96732938Kinda yeah. Almost like most post mentioned missing it. Crazy how you can miss things once they're over.
>>96732897Kinda related but I seem to be one of the few people out there who loves the Gnarlwood and if/when (cope) Warcry gets more support I hope they don't set it in a different location and we continue to explore the Gnarlwood.

>>96733842>they will absolutely reuse the spidersNo, they won't. They can't copyright spider minis. I think GW is feeling the pinch from other competitors, hence the lawsuits the past few years. I'm pretty sure anything they put out from now on will be trademarked, patented, copyrighted. etc
>>96733957>They can't copyright spider minis.They can't copyright wolf minis...
>>96734085True but that won't stop them from sueing anyone else that does. Especially if they are paired with goblins.
>>96733821why do the "spiders" have the same face as orcs? The designs of some of these old sculpts is mystifying, genuinely confused why they thought these were a good idea.
>>96734172No clue. I don't think the fluff ever mentioned them as related to greenskins like squigs are. There's one piece of art that makes the spider look bizarrely similar to a tyranid too.
Real leak (legit): rest of helmsmiths will drop on halloween
