Thread needs more print pics
Guy is selling an ELEGOO Saturn 8k on Facebook marketplace for $100, but one of the corners of the screen is dead and can't be printed on. (Probably like 10% of the total screen area) Is it worth it? It would be my first printer
craptastic cell pic but i just printed this androsphinx from crab miniatures. It came out great. Ive been using a mix of crab and Txarli minis for my opr tomb kings army and the stuffs been great. Their pre supports have works surprisingly well too.
>>96724980Yes. Buy it to familiarize yourself with the aspect of printing in itself. The print area is big enough so you wont notice those 10%, and you will learn how everything works. And if you realize that printing is not for you, you wont have lost so much money
>>96725017It is a well regarded printer or kinda a shitty one?
>>96725055Elegoo is THE brand, generally speaking, and while the Saturn 2 (i assume it is, because you mention 8k) is not the newest model, its still good enough to print you decent miniatures.
We managed to go the whole last thread without a furry comment post. Can we do it again?
>>96725300It doesn't say Saturn 2, just Saturn 8k
Friends, countrymen, lend me your ears. I seek Mark IV and Mark III builder kits from Loggyk, would any of you be willing to share?

>>96727360They currently sell mkII, mkIII, mkIV and mkVI in the HH ranges. The mkIV do have different proportions than the other ones though.
>>96727432That's because they're ancient and completely underscaled in comparison to modern Heresy kits. Loggyk's Mark IV fixes that, and his Mark III has more poses than the five plastics are in.

What do you think about GW suing Ghamak?
Been looking for this guy but he doesn't seem to be on the Kyoushuneko minifactory. Anyone know where I can find the files for him along with the other dwarf samurai minis by Kyoushuneko?
>>96735870Just another in an ever growing list. While ghamak is standing up against them is a good thing, to beg for money from the same people he made thousands of euros from already is highly jewish. He knew this day could come and if he didn't prepare for it but putting money aside for legal issue then fuck him.
>>96735870If things are really managed at the filing-court level and not escalated to specialized courts, he might actually be okay if he knows somebody (not likely, he's from a bumfuck small town) or if he somehow manages to make the right impression.Honestly, allowing him to take the matter into a court by getting behind him to shoulder the initial legal costs might actually be the best case scenario to set a precedent against GW.It's a trial in FUCKING SICILY of all places, about a matter so nebulous that convincing somebody who knows nothing (and doesn't care) about Space Marines and whatnot that this is real actual important business is pretty much a shot in the dark. The court bowing to the giant corporation "just because" is probably just as likely as getting a "Fuck off with this bullshit, they're not actual 1:1 replicated forgeries so I couldn't care less, REJECTED".Trust me, I'm from Catania. Also, In Italy, when you lose you usually have to pay all the legal fees of the winner too. So while this could end up crushing Ghamak forever if it goes bad for him, it might also end up being pretty hilarious if some whatever judge decides that getting bogged down with little plastic toys is not worth of his time and summarily rules agaist GW because "They're not direct copies, you have no leg to stand on".
>>96735970>He knew this day could come and if he didn't prepare for it but putting money aside for legal issue then fuck him.How can you make such assumptions? Legal fights can easily drag over years, so asking for money is never a bad thing and his reserves might only last so long..
>>96736146>Honestly, allowing him to take the matter into a court by getting behind him to shoulder the initial legal costs might actually be the best case scenario to set a precedent against GW.This. If this is settled with some kind of deal, behind the scenes, GW (their specialized lawyers ofc) will make it a win for them. But even if he loses, it might give other creators some valuable insight on what exactly is problematic to sculpt, and what is not, because GW will have to deliver a detailed list what exactly is wrong with which of Ghamaks sculps in order for the judge to even attempt to understand the situation.
>>96735968First result when i look for "dwarf samurai"
>>96736146I really hope GW fucks something up and the judge makes them stop going after sculptors for a bit.
>>96736184But then when he wins he gets all of that back and makes bank off the backs of people who already supported him.Tipical Sicilian.Jokes aside, about >>96736146, it really is a shot in the dark. I'm browsing through recent article #2598 (on which the entire thing is standing) cases in the same court and hell, the fact alone that GW sells physical minis in stores and Ghamak sells files to be then printed by another completely different process could very easily be determined as the fact that the products are intended for two different markets and be ground enough to entirely dismiss the case in a complely judicially fair and unimpeachable way. That would be a hilarious "Please base all your 3D-sculpting enterprises in Sicily, we have a precedent and will have your back" turn of event. On the other hand, GW then could pivot to have a tiny section for stls on their website (useless shit for basing or you know, those "Battlefield Trophies" bits) so that they can "rightfully" claim the same market. But I wouldn't put them past being jewy enough that they wouldn't put anything digital up because the margins would be lower, even if that would make it easier for them to squash small-time sculptors.
>>96736212I saw it was a large bundle on ebay but I'm just hoping to buy the files. Where did you find that one?
>>96736293Telegram of course.
>>96736252>On the other hand, GW then could pivot to have a tiny section for stls on their website (useless shit for basing or you know, those "Battlefield Trophies" bits) so that they can "rightfully" claim the same market. Its actually surprising they did not already do that. I expected their transition of FW towards providing prints and not casts of upgrade parts and maybe even STL files to go a lot quicker. It will come eventually, and if its only for legal reasons to support their fights against the competition, as you said.>But then when he wins he gets all of that back and makes bank off the backs of people who already supported him.But he only gets the full amount back, if he wins in full. Its also possible that it will end up in a draw, or a partial victory/loss. And to enable him to even do this for some years (which is something that will, no matter how it ends, provides a lot of clarity for other creators and customers too) giving some bucks is not the worst thing to do. Worst case for everyone involved would be if he has to submit because he cant afford to fight. Because this would encourage GW to go after the next one. And that next one might be a creator whose models i actually like.

>>96736393The chorfs in question
>>96736333>It will come eventually, and if its only for legal reasons to support their fights against the competition, as you said.Honestly, I'm all for having the GW Store turning into basically Hero Forge where I can assemble MYDUDES™ and the buy them, even if they overcharged for stls (which HF kinda does) and had all kinds of Premum paid-service bs like full kitbash ability to pose shit.I'm fully convinced that if they don't do that they're dead in the water in 10-15 years.Thing is there's a not-zero chance they won't because "NOOOO WOULD BE THEY BE STEALING OUR STLS RIGHT AWAY!".Wake the fuck up and smell the coffee, James, that's already happening, people are 3D-fying your preview pictures with AI to a pretty accurate degree (any maker worth of their name would be able to make them table-grade with very low effort months before they're even out), scanners will become consumer-level and widespread day-1 scans will be inevitable, it's a losing battle, adapt or die.
>>96736393Saturn is overkill sizewise for regular models. Get a Mars instead.
>>96736439There will always be a market for plastic (scale) models. I can see them establishing a boutique 3d-printing service as a side business (similar to FW with their resin stuff), but the plastic injection molding will not go away for a long time.
>>96736393Those are fine machines from a reputable brand in this space. The Resin might be bad, depending on how prone you are to dropping things. ABS-Like resins can take some falls, regular resin can shatter like glass depending on the brand.I have the older version of the saturn 4 ultra, and I love it, but it has a hatch where resin could get into the machine, which is bad. I printed a year and never had a critical spill, even though I had holes in the film, so it is avoidable by care. The problem with the Saturn 4 ultras is the experimental flip mechanism, which makes spills worse, but helps soo much in print adhesion. If you don't want to deal with it, the Saturn 3 Ultra is better than the basic Saturn 4.
>>96736503What's the best resin? going to be painting my chorfs but never playing with them
>>96736463The mars 5 ultra easy to use and stress free?
>>96726200Give him a shekel he does good work
>>96736470Eh.I'm not that convinced that will be true for much longer.Sure they could keep aiming at the moms and the chubby 11YOs who just finished Space Marine 2 on the easiest difficulty to drop a few hundred bucks on boxes that will never ever be opened. But I dunno, for the grognards who grew up with superglue, clippers and filing sticks, 3D printing instead of taking off the sprue and assembling is not THAT difficut of a change, if they're handy enough to do one they definitely are for the other, especially since it is becoming more user friendly by the day, quality is getting higher and post-processing is getting simpler.Hell, I don't even play and I have the full nid roster, either scans or 1:1, that I digi-bash for fun, because that is the part of the hobby that I most enjoyed back during 4th.---That of course if we're talking of the current state of things.Sure they could make larger-scale collectables, detailed, poseable models to assemble and target the gunpla/modelist corner.Or go full pre-painted-pre-assembled in support of a bare-bones easy-to-grasp widespread ruleset. Both of those would be pretty hard pivots (and probably not likely to succeed) but they would make their core product less likely to be invaded by 3D printing. But as of now, the assemble-paint-play pipeline is not different enough for 3D printing to not be an actual viable threat.

>>96736567There is a debate about best, but last time I looked around Sunlu Abs Like resin was good in detail and hardiness, but needs to be heated to room temp in the winter or it is a bit to viscous in the early layers, but since the 16k has heating that won't be a problem.https://youtu.be/UCPCsemKCS4?si=7UUMOn2HHh55SuWq That guy made great comparison pictures and linked them in the comments.

>>96740780It's the old guys in particular who will stick to the old type of models.
Do you folks use anything specific for ventilation safety for your 3d printers? I got a resin printer and realized that just having it sit in the open air of my garage is gonna stink the place up and I don't want to do that. Any benefits to a DIY chamber vs. one that someone else made vs. repurposing a grow tent for filtration and ventilation of the printer while its in use?
I've had this fail twice. How would you orient it? First time I did ~30 degrees upwards, second time I did ~30 degrees on the side.
>>96736439They're going to sell GW branded resin printers with gameboy cartridge style inputs that are good for exactly one print. You'll buy a tacticool marine cartridge, let it rip and bin it after. It'll have a giant skull on it and be themed like mechanicum stuff.
>>9674246030deg upwards with the antlers pointing up. How did it fail? Might be an extraneous factor and nothing to do with this file?

>>96740020Saturn 4U and 3U are about the same in print quality, but the 4U has some improvements that came with slightly less build height. The Saturn 4 basic has the worst of them both, that's why when people do not want to take the risk with the tilt mechanism they default to the S3U.The mars is smaller, for not that much less money, so for most people it is a nice beginner size that tends to quickly get restrictive. Same story between the 5U and the 4U, just one number higher.
>>96743876>the risk with the tilt mechanismWhat risk? It seems to me a nice QoL upgrade, but if that's prone to break, stirring a bit by hand before printing is not rocket science.
>>96742528I'm on a Saturn 4 Ultra and I got the warning that I needed to replace the PFA after 60K layers. I went ahead and printed anyways, and this failed but the other print I had going at the same time didn't.I went ahead and replaced the PFA, so hopefully that was the issue.
>>96742501This honestly sounds kino. I'd probably buy a cartridge just for fun. (I'd never print it though, paying for models is bugman tier.)
>>96736439>where I can assemble MYDUDES™That won't happen, GW has spent the last few years making a very big and costly effort to remove all customization opportunities from their IP's, they will not back down on this, they will not 3D print, they will go into the grave kicking and screaming while throwing around lawsuits and threats of lawsuits left and right, they will stubbornly spend their last pennies toward lawfare while laying off employees rather than get into printing.
>>96744207The tilt mechanism does stir a bit, but that is not the point. With it you do not pull straight up to release, but angle it. Imagine like picking up a magnet, its way easier if you lift up a corner first. This makes printing more reliable, less force on the model and thus a bit faster. But the mechanism works with the vat on a trapdoor. If you get a huge spill it can get into the machine. Small spills are fine, there is a gutter around the trapdoor, but if you are the kind of guy that fumbles in a huge way, this might not be the machine for you.
>>96745491>the kind of guy that fumbles in a huge wayPost-processing aside, Resin printing is pretty retard proof. I don't understand how people have so many issues with it. Compared to FDM it's plug and play.
>>96745715What do you do when you get a hole?Me I run a cleaning run so the hole is closed by cured resin and carefully lift it up with something ready to stop spills and dump the resin back into the bottle through a filter. Many people did not manage that and spilled 1L of resin into their machines. The elegoo reddit was full of those guys, and loads of people got afraid to buy the machine because all they see is the few people who fuck up, not the loads of people who print fine and never write about it.And I would say, tuning a FDM printer is harder but is getting better with modern machines.
>>96745776>What do you do when you get a hole? Are you talking about hollow prints? Or a hole in your FEP? Either way, just do significant research before purchase / printing something new like a hollow print, and these issues should literally never arise.>dump the resin back into the bottle through a filter.I use a turkey baster to remove resin from the vat and put it in the bottle. I never remove the vat from the machine unless I am changing the FEP.

Recently got back into printing and have a qq for you guys- I have a Mars 3 pro which I've had for about 3 years now with no parts replaced but the occasional tray and arm, and around the edges of my plate my prints have been coming out fine, but towards the center holes get filled in/details get blurred. I adjusted the exposure time & thickened the layers from .042 to .050 to make things come out cleaner, which seems to have helped, but not things in the center are starting to get bent/contorted now, with occassional layer failue mid print. Could this be a temperature problem with the resin, maybe my light or something is just fucked on account of the printer being a little old?

Anyone know were to get good dogs of war or old school chorf models?

Found someone selling a printer for cheap, there's something wrong with the screen, though (picrel). Could i print reasonably well with this?
>>96783517No half the lcd is busted
>>96783517Just get a Mars 4 Ultra or Saturn 3 UltraDon't get used printers, resin printing is frustrating enough you don't want to have to deal with the faults being due to the printer being busted in ways you don't know, if you can't afford a new printer you can't afford the other shit you need to print
>>96783790>the other shit you need to printResin and iso, just resin and iso.
>>96783970And neither of those come for free.Of course you're probably going to want nitrile gloves too. And if you don't live in a very reliably sunny place some way to cure your prints. You're almost certainly going to use up a bunch of paper towels or some such to clean your workspace, that's also a cost. Do you have a suitable container for the iso bath just lying around collecting dust? Otherwise that's another expense. Gas mask/respirator? It's certainly recommended. Will the printer live out in a shed or so? Then you might end up wanting a space heater, perhaps a work lamp too. Is it indoors instead? Then you might want to look into some way to contain and vent out the fumes. Will it all add up to a massive amount? Hardly. But if a new previous-gen Mars makes your wallet cry then you're going to feel it sooner rather than later, and if you decide to just go for absolute maximum cheap-out, well, you'll feel that with each and every print.
>>96784758>all this other shit you don't need is a cost! No, because you don't need it.
>>96784766>you don't need ituntil you do. enjoy stage 4 lung and throat cancer later in life
>>96784758>gas mask/respiratorResin fumes are objectively safer than second hand smoke. You do not need to wear a mask much less kit up like you are cooking meth lol. The danger is that prolonged exposure can cause you to become allergic but the only way to truly prevent that is the same thing you would have to do if you became allergic so gloves are a good compromise. Unless you are running a print farm, there shouldn't be enough resin in the air to cause you to become allergic unless you are incredibly unlucky or have AIDS or something.
This Kopta makes me smile.
>>96788176>I showed you my Boyz please respond

Anyone know the chamfer angle for GW bases? I have a friend that wants some custom name plates for the bases.
>>96791728You can find premade STL kits for exactly this.
>>96791728I don't know the angle, but I can tell you the other dimensions (4mm high, top radius = [bottom radius-3]).
>>96795033The 28.5mm base is pretty much exactly 25mm at the top
So where do I find a good stl for the old rogue trader Land Raider? I think I’ve exhausted the various keywords I know to search for it. I’ve found a few but they don’t seem to be exact replicas of the old model.
>>96795623do consider that it might not exist

>>96799277That's the neat part, you don't. You don't need to ventilate the room for one printer unless you are like an AIDS case or it is the size of a coat closet and you also happen to live in it. The resin particles wont stay in the air long enough or travel far enough to be a problem.
>>96799336>resin particleswhat about VOCs?
>>96799794What about them? No worse than what you would experience painting your walls and no one suggests you wear a respirator to do that. There are a thousand ways you can be exposed to VOCs in similar quantities as casual resin printing.

Because the Printer buying pastebin is pretty outdated.Whats a good resin printer to buy?Currently looking at the saturn 4U, or maybe the Mars 4Mostly plan to print 32mm minis, and vehicles.Would be nice to able to print a mars warlord titan. Max price is around 600

>>96802264Don't get a Mars printer, it'll be too small and you will come to resent printing on itGet a Saturn, the 3U is a good choice depending on how much you saveThe 4U is nicer but it doesn't actually offer anything you need over the 3U If buying the 3U saves you a bit of money which you can invest into a grow tent, DIY wash and cure, brew belt for heating, exhaust fan, respirator and more resin then it's worth itIf it's not really that much more then maybe not the best buy You will need to learn to replace the FEP though because the 3U comes with ACF which sucks, but then you will need to learn to replace it anywayGet Sunlu ABS-Like Resin, dark gray preferablyGood luck
>>96802264>saturn 4UI own this (previously had a Mars 3) and I've tremendous success with it and not a lot of headaches. One problem I have had that I don't think I really have the correct solution for is with the spring "auto-leveling" I've had mid/large prints not adhere to the build-plate super well. The best solution I could find was to increase the bottom layers to 10 and the bottom layer exposure time to 30 seconds. This is definitely incorrect and leads to a little warping with super precise prints, but I never have anything fail due to adhesion anymore.>>96802531>Sunlu ABS-Like Resin2nd this 100%. It's night and day compared to shitty brands like Elegoo. I drop minis with fine details like swords and spears all the time and they're perfectly fine, while with Elegoo they'd explode.
>>96798321vat heaters are cheap. i live in vermont and print in my basement year round. i don't even use a vat heater, if it's cold i just hit the resin in the vat with my heat gun and have a ceramic standing heater next to my print tent to keep the temperature up
>>96781191You should 3d print in a well ventilated area tho
>>96802557>>96802531So the Saturn 4U/3U is the move? Currently just waiting for their black friday sale to drop soon to see the prices. I dont mind dropping an extra 100 on the difference between the 3 and 4 as long as it causes less headches. Planning on getting a good bunch of the extra shit too and since I live in the cold shithole north a brew belt sounds like a really good idea. I was just going to get their standard resin so the recommendation for the sunlu stuff helps. Thanks anons
>>96803138Honestly I think the 3U will have less headaches. The 4U has autoleveling which takes away your control which in rare cases could becomes infuriating to deal with and the tilting vat is another mechanical point of failure Also idk if they really have great sales on the old machines. Btw they will discontinue extra screens for the saturn 3, maybe within a year idk
i took my s4u out of the box and wrapping, plugged it in and filled it, loaded the printer profile and my resin profile in lychee and started printing. never had a failure outside of support failures or not cleaning the vat properly. zero problems with it after 11 months now printing full plates at least 2-4 times a weekalmost a year on and I don't even know how to level my printer lmao it literally just works for me. i feel like you have to be retarded to fuck up with this thing

So how do you guys print bases or things on bases? Whenever I support the thing the base warps, and when I print directly on the plate it's a cunt to pull off and the edges invariably chip. Was thinking of supporting it but at a near horizontal angle.
>>96809343the only value of encoding the links is to potentially obfuscate them from automated scraping efforts in the archives. gatekeeping this info from other anons just exposes your dunning kruger brain
>>96809387Two separate answers. Usually I print bases upside down in filament, it is cheap and easy and let's me print the ones I added magnet slots to. For stuff on the bases like rocks, when I get low on resin I print more rocks so I have a bag full of them. If I need to print a base in resin I do it at 45 degrees but I usually try to avoid doing that.
>>96809540No, it's to hide it from lawfare.
>>96809575yes anon, that's who is scraping the archives for urls and domain names. you don't really think there's copyright jannies monitoring the live threads 24/7 do you?
>>96809641They don't need to, their rabid shills do it for free. But you won't see it that way, you will be only the second anon to outright give away the game in the past two years (how far back I dug into the archives when I was puzzling out the encryption for myself) and the last anon to do this faggot shit was about a month ago.2 fucking years before you two faggots just spelled it right out for the fucking idiots, 2 years in which EVERYONE ELSE FIGURED IT OUT ON THEIR OWN.So not only are you a faggot, but you're a condescending asshole because you thought anons are actually so stupid they can't figure it out for themselves when it's been demonstrably proven over and over that that is not the case.
>>96809387>it's a cunt to pull off and the edges invariably chip. Are you using a razorblade to remove it or are you hammering away at it with your scraper? Looks like you're hammering away at it with the scraper.
>>96809387>>96809992This is the tool to remove bases from the plate, note the clean unchipped edges
>>96809387>>96809569^This anon is correct. If you're wanting to print cool bases with terrain normally the makers will have "toppers" that you can glue onto your upside-down magnet bases.
>>96809960there's base64 mentions in the tg archives going back a decade, anon. this is not secret knowledge like you seem to think, it's day 1 IT shit that has been discussed publicly forever because the only value it has is keeping urls and domain names out of the archive
I have a Saturn Mark 1 (they just called it the Saturn I think). The FEP is torn and the screws in the bed are stripped. I ordered a new FEP that says it will fit, but I'm a little scared to just drill out the screws and hopefully find replacements the right size. Seems like there is little to no helpful info on the Saturn 1, I'm guessing because it's so old now. Can only find parts for the Mark II and I checked, they don't fit. tildr; Is it worth trying to fix up an old printer, or should I just spend a couple hundred and get a new?
>>96810398You can try to justify being a faggot all you like, it's not going to change that no one needed it spelled out and doing so makes you a faggot and an asshole.Anyone too lazy to figure it out doesn't deserve to be shared with, if I could do it anyone can.

Any creators or stl file bundles you folks like to use for your fantasy tabletop minis? Am looking to start printing some minis this weekend once the test prints work well, and the catalog on stuff like cults3d is quite large, so if you can save me some time searching through it I'd appreciate it. I don't mind paying a creator for their files either, I'm just looking for ones that anons like, are fantasy themed, and are ready to be printed.

Health question. Have felt shitty and had intermittent rapid heart rate and dizziness. Have temporarily stayed at my friends house for a few weeks. My friend has a resin based egeloo 3d printer. And an isopropyl alcohol cleaning tank. Are they 100 % sealed? Or still leaking traces fumes? He insists that they are but I have been feeling shitty the last two weeks and I’m starting to think it’s related to this. I have an exercise bike and he said it was fine to put it in the small room with that stuff. He hasn’t used any of the printers since I got here. I have used my exercise bike by that equipment like 10 times or so for about a half hour and I’m starting to think I ended up inhaling a shitload of whatever is passively off gassing in that room. Do you guys have any sort of input here? I’m leaving soon but not sure if I need to move my exercise bike somewhere else. Small house and the room I’m in is also right by that room so I think if it’s passively leaking fumes I probably have been feeling shitty being so close to that crap for the last 20 days or so. The egeloo has an enclosure but from what I read online they are not 100% sealed and passively give off the same amount of fumes closed if they were running or not.there is no ventilation setup I can see either running outside so I suspect if they offfas resin or IPA fumes they have just been accumulating in the small room for months. The room is open and connected to the rest of the house and while that’s good, it’s also bad as I suspect the entire house he has is probably full of whatever fumes. not sure if I should ask him if we can open the windows up for a few hours for safety. May even suggest he buy a air quality device for that room to monitor it.I have felt faint off and on and I’m not sure if it’s something else going on and some random health thing or if it’s related to this.
>>96816564>He hasn’t used any of the printers since I got here. You're being a hypochondriac pussy, thank your friend for letting you stay with him and STFU about the printer.
>>96816578My passive heart rate was over 100 some days while doing nothing so I’m not imagining it. I’m in good shape so that shouldn’t be happening. >thank himdon’t project on to me. I paid him and have thanked him multiple times. I have not brought up the printer issue because I did not want to bother him over nothing. I only asked him about it once when I put the exercise bike in the room.
>>96816658>so I’m not imagining itIt's a fact that you're imagination can make you experience medical symptoms. Your problem is literally that you're a gigantic overreacting pussy.I hope you get kicked to the curb if you start shit over this.
>>96816658>I did not want to bother him over nothing.Clearly you do or you wouldn't be asking for social approval to do so.
>>96816678Youre the one acting like a faggot and a sperg. are you always like this? I didn’t think to look it up for two weeks, and I noticed that the more frequently I went in that room to use my exercise bike the more frequent it seemed to be instead of feeling better. why are you taking this so personally? I wasn’t even thinking about the printer at all until now. The bike is 2 feet from it and the IPA tub. and I only asked because I felt like if they were off gassing, maybe not huffing that air for a half hour at a time might be something to ask about?
>>96816708>I didn’t think to look it up for two weeks,Yes you did, you're here showing that this has been on your mind from the moment you heard "3D printer" and you're just looking for someone else to bless you before you make a scene about it.

>>96816692My main concern was if I should just move the bike, i wanted to ask on here if it made sense or not. if I asked him about the printer and looking into an air monitor for that room that is more for his benefit because I will not be here in a few weeks. I was only staying her temporarily to get some paperwork and stuff finished up. But I have get like such crap since I got here I haven’t been able to do much. Hence me using the exercise bike trying to get my regular cardio in.
>>96816564Nothing on the resin SDS indicates the symptoms you are experiencing. Since they are overly cautious to cover their asses your symptoms are unrelated. Have you considered that you might just have AIDS?
>>96816564>there is no ventilation setupIgnore the anon shitting on you. If there's no ventilation and he doesn't have it in a grow/tent some other sort of enclosure, it's absolutely seeping resin fumes. Move your bike, and don't go into that room anymore unless there's a window inside and you can open it for at least an hour to clear out the fumes.
>>96816765Show us on the MSDS where anons "symptoms" are listed.
>>96816724This amount of baseless projection is bizarre. if it was on my mind this entire time I would have moved the exercise bike weeks ago. I just listened to my friend and accepted what he said. (Everything is air tight) I did not anticipate randomly feeling like shit for the last two weeks and initially wrote it off as something to ignore. Why are you getting so buttblasted about someone asking “Hey is it a good idea to have my exercise bike in this small room with this stuff?” Sound like a no brainer thing a responsible individual would do. I probably should have cared enough to have done it earlier.
>>96816735You sound like my mother, watching tv back in the 90's and a commercial for some medicine comes on and starts listing symptoms of the illness it is supposed to treat and mom says "OMG I think I might have that!" and I pipe in with "No, you do not have Testicular Cancer, for fuck's sake"

I had mentioned earlier that the room I am temporarily staying in is also 5 feet from the room with the resin printer and IPA tub. it seemed like a reasonable thing to wonder if huffing that shit for an about and a half or two hours a week plus sleeping near that crap wss maybe why I have get increasingly shitty. sorry about your incurable autism good luck with that no reason for you to have gotten so weird about it

>>96816846>>96816844I ended up looking the mode up and it’s an egeloo Saturn 3 and it says it isnt airtight and it needs ventilation so I guess that’s the confirmation I was expecting to get here. I only asked here because I felt like people here who work with these things could give a more educational answer. Like I said I have had rapid heart rate off and on for about a week and a half or two weeks and the longer I’ve been here the worse I felt. it’s not like I’m gonna get pissed at my friend it was more again me wondering what I may have exposed my body to. the volume of air you use exercising is way more than tou passively use just standing somewhere.
>>96816844There is no reason to panic him if he is genuinely concerned. While I wont say they are harmless, none of his symptoms are associated with resin exposure. That is not something he needs to take our word for, there are SDS that outline these things and the chemicals are well known.
>>96816989It needs to be vented but not because it will cause your symptoms. It is a respiratory irritant, you would be coughing (like a lot) and have a sore throat well before you started experiencing other symptoms.
>>96817036>>96817007>>96817007The symptoms I had weren’t present the first week but basically off and on for like two weeks I have been coughing a lot.wakingn up with a hoarse voice some days. I had intermittent hot flashes which I never have, have basically felt like I’m getting sick or something and that sensation just keeps coming and going. Like I said combined with the rapid unexplained heart rate I just haven’t been feeling good. was considering going to the doctor to just get a check up or something if it didn’t get better. I don’t really get allergies out here so it just was weird and out of the blue. really the main reason again I was asking about all of this is that I don’t think in retrospect having my exercise bike 2 feet from the resin printer and IPA tub was a good idea but that’s my own fault for not researching it more. I don’t use a 3d printer so (despite me thinking they are cool and wanting one eventually) I just don’t understand how well sealed stuff like this is. sounds like my buddy didnt either.
>>96817086You should still check with your doctor before assuming it is the printer. Not saying it couldn't be responsible but any time you have heart stuff you dont want to just make assumptions.
>>96817086Okay if you're here to ignore us and just repeat "it has to be the proonter, it couldn't possibly be anything else!" then you can fuck off.
>>96817111If I feel worse in a week I might. Don’t want to go to a doctor right now. Just wanted to ask if this stuff was air tight or not. (Didnt have the mode name before, now I do and I confirmed it isnt) so will just move the bike and stay out of that room. >>96817118Without getting an air monitor in that room I won’t know one way or another. if I feel worse in better in the next week by avoiding that room IDGAF if it’s the printer or not. like I previously mentioned I came here to ask if these resin printing devices are air tight and apparently they aren’t which is retarded to have in your home long term without proper ventilation. there is no safe limit of resin fumes you can passively expose your body too long term. That’s retarded. that is not me attacking 3d printing. or me saying not to have one in your home if you want to do that. I wanted to know if having my exercise bike in that room was a good idea like my friend said and it obviously isnt now that I know these devices lack a hermetic seal
>>96817158The excercise bike in the room should be fine though that is the thing. It might not be the best location but a night around a campfire is objectively worse for you than the time you would spend near the resin printer.
>>96817252The way I see it, the device is sealed or it isnt. (It’s not) you inhale a large volume of air exercising. if there is no ventilation in that room going outside, and the house has little to no airflow there is probably a concentration of those vapors in the room which is bad for you. I don’t see any logical way to say that it should be fine. thats stupid. people can build up a sensitivity to this stuff through exposure so you do not want to be exposed to it more than tou need to because then it is a bitch to ever be around it in the future.resin fumes are not something j would compare btw to smoke from burning wood let alone a campfire outside. Apples and oranges in a multitude of ways. They are not the same thing at all in any way.
>>96817252Anon isn't arguing in good faith, it's pointless.
>>96817375It is a matter of volume. The volume of VOCs and other irritants put off by a resin printer is far lower than a lot of other very common things you are already encountering. Lysol spray for example, substantially worse for you than the tiny amount of pollutants that the printer makes as a byproduct.>>apples and orangesIn this context (how much will one harm your respiratory system versus the other) they are not. Smoke of any type is really bad for you to inhale, and the shear volume of pollutants a campfire produces dwarfs the printer.
>>96817403What is there that I’m not arguing in good faith? If the device is not hermetically sealed and it’s passively leaking resin fumes, even if it’s at a “low” rate, it has probably been doing that for months now in that same room. exercising there for a prolonged period of time repeatedly we should be able to agree on is a bad idea. If you want to do that go ahead put your treadmill in a tiny room with your resin printer then.>>96817440>>96817440Maybe you are right maybe you aren’t I have no way of knowing without researching this stuff on my own or taking your word for it. Like I said before my main concern and this conversation has outgrown that, wss getting clarification on if it was sealed, it’s not. And obviously I should move my exercise equipment into another room. The actual dosage I got over the last few weeks I have no way to verify. I will just hope that next week I feel better avoiding the room.as I mentioned previously, the room I am sleeping in is directly adjacent to the room with the printer and the bike, so that’s why I do not think it’s far fetched that over 20 days my body probably got exposed to more than it should have. Does not seem that unlikely. However I am aware some people choose to sleep with resin printers in their own room. That is their choice to make I guess.
>GWfags in the thread telling anons everything is safe so they dieA new low. Long term exposure to toxins will end badly for anyone not practicing basic safety measures.
>>96817633Yep, you should wear gloves so you dont become allergic. Anything else is a waste at best and at worse will further put you at risk for developing an allergic reaction
>>96817252>night around a campfire is objectively worse for you than the time you would spend near the resin printerHoly fucking retard. What a bad faith argument. Are you just coping for your lack of safety or are you trying to get other anons to have health issues?I already know the answer. >>96818184>AI says that they have VOCs>AI says VOCs are bad for you>Somehow that is proof that resin fumes are worse for you than other common productsPer https://www.mdpi.com/2075-5309/14/11/3343, resin printers frequently - but not always - exceed recommended indoor air quality limits of 200 µg/m3 so conservatively we can say 400 µg/m3 on average as none of the varieties of resin tested breached 700 µg/m3. For the sake of argument though lets say 700. That puts it in the same range as a glade plugin which is about 300-600.
>>96818311Correction, it seems that flex resin is pretty bad for it compared to others but the average for all of the varieties in the main table of TVOC is still under 600. I guess if you are really worried about it stay away from the flex resin but if I recall that is a known issue. My bad for missing that, but to be fair according to your AI the glade plugins can even be worse than flex resin lol.

>provides evidence from an actual study showing TVOC rates among six different resin types>volume is similar to air fresheners>no rebuttalI honestly am starting to believe that this "fumes will kill you" idea started to demonize 3d printing to reduce how popular it is. No way this many people have AIDS and/or retarded.>But muh chatgpt responseThere is simply no scientific evidence to support the idea that resin VOCs and airborne particles are any more dangerous than air fresheners. Even the MSDS (notorious for being exaggerated) only lists that it may cause respiratory irritation and rates it at a category 3, which is the same category it lists for household cleaners and many other common occurring substances. Not every resin even has respiratory irritation listed on their MSDS which matches the findings of some varieties having extremely low VOC counts.>tl;drResin fumes are no worse than Glade Plug-Ins. There is enough scientific evidence to support that conclusion that is freely available. Anyone who says otherwise is a retard, AIDS faggot, or some combination of both.
>>96818870>no scientific evidenceyou mean outside of the resin manufacturers own safety instructions. and talk about pot and the fucking kettle. you cannot find shit to back up your claim youre having to use air fresheners to support your retarded stance. you are trying to claim all vocs are one in the same.>fuck off retard
>>96818891I used air fresheners because they are a good comparison retard. They produce a similar volume of VOCs, do so relatively continuously, and are common enough where most people have experienced them. >Muh MSDSAlready addressed, they are notoriously over exaggerated. Not just for resin but for everything, for example it lists for Glade Plugins "Wear protective gloves". Do you handle your Glade Plugins with nitrile gloves? No probably not, no one is that retarded.>All VOCs are not one in the sameIf you are going to move the goal post at least be genuine, do you have any actual basis for the VOCs in resin being worse than Glade Plugins? Considering the primary VOC in Glade Plugins turns into Formaldehyde when exposed to ozone from things like electronics I doubt you even looked into whether they had worse ones or not lol. The primary VOC in resin is considered by the WHO to be no more dangerous than the primary VOC in a Glade Plugin and none of the VOCs recorded in significant volume in resin are the two that are considered the two worst VOCs. >tl;drUnchanged, resin fumes are no worse than Glade Plug-Ins. Going to post this from now on in each 3dpg, hopefully we can get to a point where people stop acting like 3d printing is similar to cooking meth.Reminder: Only retards and AIDS faggots think resin fumes are dangerous. >But Muh MSDSNotoriously exaggerated, for example the MSDS for sand lists the recommendation that you wear nitrile gloves, a mask, and eye protection when handling it. Sand. They are published solely for the purpose of covering the company's ass so anything and everything that could happen with a substance is taken into account. That only some resins have a respiratory irritation caution and the ones that do are category 3 (same as many household cleaners) should put it into perspective. Do you wear a respirator when you mop your floors? Well maybe some AIDS faggots do.>But Muh VOCsA lot of stuff has them, like Glade Plugins for example. Resin variety has a lot to do with the volume of VOCS they produce, but of the six varieties tested in the below study the average TVOC was about 586 µg/m3. Glade Plugins are generally between 300 and 600 µg/m3 for a room the size of most print rooms. They do have different VOCs, but neither have any of the truly bad VOCs in large amounts. Source: https://www.mdpi.com/2075-5309/14/11/3343>But Muh Internet Search Results Unless you are looking at an actual study with data you are getting people's opinion, often based entirely off of other people's opinion. You can also find articles telling you how gluten is poison and tomatoes cure cancer. Things like ChatGPT and other AI programs just scrape the internet and as a result will often present these opinions as facts. Look into the actual science and studies that have been conducted and review the data.>Summary Resin fumes are no worse than Glade Plug-Ins. There is enough scientific evidence to support that conclusion that is freely available. Anyone who says otherwise is a retard, AIDS faggot, or some combination of both.
>>96819423If your point is that resin's are as bad as glade plug-ins then you would agree with the other anons that wearing respiratory equipment should be utilized when handling resin. Recent studies researching routine cleaners and professional cleaners show significantly higher lung degradation. Even cleaning your house once a week can still significantly diminish your lungs. >oh but its only for women, not men. Only weak females get reduced lung functionIf thats a point you want to raise you are significantly retarded. Absence of evidence is not proof of absence. The studies did not have significant male participants and what little they did have indicated it might actually be worse in men. >Inb4 pic relatedhttps://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6726387/Anyway's you shouldnt be using any artificial sprays in your household less you want your test to deplete and to be filled with microplastics
Quick PSA, for anyone with an open-minded: the resin and "plastics" used for 3D Printing is quite literally toxic poison. You should not be anywhere near this stuff, letalone in your own home. There are a variety of compromised actors who who will tell you that its safe, but this is actual proven nonsense. Do not treat this "hobby" lightly, because it will literally kill you and take years off your life.

>>96819756So are you suggesting that people who do routine cleaning should be wearing respirators? That seems pretty wild to me, I dont doubt there is a casual correlation between the two but there is between interior painters for example as well. Unless you are arguing that resin exposure is worse than those things then I am not sure what your point is as not even OSHA expects painters and cleaners to wear masks let alone anything more while working.>>96819775>will literally kill you and take years odd your lifeMaybe if you have AIDS from a lifetime of faggotry, but for others it will not unless you chug a bottle of it.
