I suspect what happened with harlequins is a lot of craftworlds players have wanted to dip their toes in to clowns for a while and this box put them over the line.I know that happened for me and another craftworlds player I know
>>96757881>they didn't bother to make new minis for kabalite warriorsBecause that's coming next Edition. They just added that extra sprue to get a bit more life out of the kit, same as they did with the old Cadian kit

>>96757666Because they knew it'd sell. That's an absurdly good Combat Patrol that comes with a Transport, and specialist Vehicle, a very punchy pseudo-named character, and the generic leader of the mini-faction. >>96757906The meta shift wasn't kind to DG, at the end of the day it's a very "honest" army in that they have very few tricks up their sleeve. They're extremely lethal which is good when there are big units to kill so they can get value trades (Knight meta) but bad when the lethal units are tiny and trading up all the time, which is what we have no with Admech and Sisters.Still the most fun book of the edition and now I get to play them without people hating them so I'm super happy.

>>96758027As a faction they are already gone.
>>96757992There's no reason for GW to squat them. They're a small range that doesn't take up production time, they're in one of the most popular army books, they show up in the lore all the time playing key roles, there's no other game system to move them to, and as we've just seen, they sell.
>>96758020Instead of wheelchairs they should have suits like these.
>>96757999Not surprising considering even my area’s GW just kept a few boxes of Kabelites and maybe a Lilith on the shelves until release time. They just don’t sell well enough to stock outside a few week window when their codex hits and they can sucker people into clearing stock.

>>96758040She apparently can get out and walk normally. She just doesn't want to because it was a gift from Custodes or some shit and it's sacred and she gets wet while inside of it.
The problem with Harlequins is simple; where do you go with them when it comes to new models? They basically have everything they 'need'; They have a physical leader, a psker leader, two specialist characters, a semi-elite troop option, cavalry, a transport, and a flexible vehicle. The only thing they lack is a big monster, which doesn't really fit the faction. At best they could get a Wraithlord unit and MAYBE a heavier vehicle.
>>96758006>just like witch hunters with imperial agentsDelusional, imperial agents is one kit and some random named inquisitors. We don’t even have a plastic basic inquisitorIt’s not a returned witch hunters it’s just a way to sell kill teams in 40k

>>96758062Oh yeah, you can't see it from here but all the options are magnetized on these. Prima-dona in the middle excluded cause of course Farsight gets no options.Broadside was a bear cause I went and magnetized the entire arms and shoulders so I can swap in the missile launchers, as well as the support system and plasma on the shoulders.Coldstar there has 4 magnetic weapon attachment points and is also held in position by that puck on his leg. I wanted something more subtle, but it really needs the strength there.I got 6 more crisis suits also magnetized and modularized,
>>96758053Second troop options with heavier firepower, dualbuild with lasers or missile launches (light shows vs pyrotechnics)HQ on bikeNamed characterAvatar of Cegorach that's actually a giant puppetThat right there would make Harlequins way more viable as a standalone force.

>>96758171Sure, I'll do a write up.Heavily reliant on the Starweaver and Falcon to survive. Anything that gives you extra moves after fight phase lets you get back into transports. Death Reaper famously has a combo where he rides around in a starweaver behind a wall, hops out on the other side of the wall, then hops back in to the not visible starweaver. It is quite literally the ultimate glass cannon army. You HAVE to use every bullshit trick in your arsenal just to go even, but they do have those bullshit tricks like 6" consolidate and such. My personal list uses Shadowseers and Warlocks to buff up Wraithlords as the "hammer" for the Harlequins "anvil" and corsairs to scout to draw them out because I'm not really a good enough player to maximize that style of trade gameplay.Eldra is also great in that list because of the CP generation and leading a full squad of warlocks. Warlock on Jet Bike is just an amazing solo character who can buff the Wraithlords. I've thought about painting an Avatar of Khaine in clown/wraithknight panoply but they both are pretty bad for the points right now (doubly so with the meta so kitted to kill knights)
>>96758193seeing the price of these things is kinda what made me stay away from tyranids.
So I wanted to start Tau after my Necrons but I'm having second thoughts and now thinking about Eldar. Could I get some advice? Tau have a Battleforce incoming while Eldar kinda have nothing. They would be however easier to start as they require no magnetization or other advanced techniques.

>>96758193Give the melee variants a S8 weapon and a S6 D2 weapon. They literally ONLY have twin linked S5 D1, so each one is basically just wielding two power swords. Each one is essentially weaker than an individual Terminator, with the same wounds less saves and worse weapon options and terminators aren't great. Terminators are about 40PPM usually and nids are 25PPM, so it makes sense. But Terminators aren't GOOD and they are so similar to them actually while being worse. Tank killing things EXPLODE them, Infantry killing things EXPLODE them. It's like their profile was designed to be weak to everything, where as Termies at least have their invuln. It puts them in this wierd situation of being 25PPM and only being good at killing things that are 10PPM.So yea, as I said already. Needs more weapon options so when they do get into a target they actually do something when there. Because they are too squishy too tarpit, too expensive not to do damage for the cost, too low in number to hold objectives, too limited in the targets they are good at killing... etc etc

And getting rid off them in particular would be absurd when they have a stronger visual identity than most of 1st founding chapters. >>96758206The Eldar Combat Patrol is very solid (aside from Dire Avengers being a pretty old kit). It's also a great start to an Aspect Warrior-heavy Eldar army, which is both a strong way to play and pretty elite. And a great hobby project to boot. The Tau battleforce isn't great, it's only like 500 points and that's including Farsight, who you may or may not want to play.Eldar are in a really good place right now with so much of their army being new to brand new fantastic plastic kits. They have a ton of versatility in play style too. Tau are bit inbetween, with their most iconic thing, Crisis Suits, being an old kit and a crazy expensive kit too. An they have a much more limited playstyle. If you're genuinely torn and aren't leaning one way or the other, Eldar are the safer bet for having a good time building, painting, and playing. But if you're leaning Tau but just noticed how cool Eldar are, then maybe you really do want to play Tau but you're hesitating because of the money and time commitment of an armySo really, as always, listen to you heart.

>>96758225Melee warriors actually hit kind of really fucking hard, and if you don't think so, you've never delivered a 6-man with a prime into a target. They're S6, thanks to being Synapse themselves (so always get the +1S) and Tyranids have pretty easy access to +1 to wound from Neurolictors. It takes some setup, of course, but that unit will fucking annihilate anthing that isn't T12. I play them in Vanguard, and with Surprise assault, you have 36 (+6 from the leader, but he's unironically worse at doing damage due to not having twin-linked and just AP-1) attacks that hits on 2s re-rolling 1s, sus1 (so average like 42 hits), wounds on 4+ on anything T7-11 and even better on lower toughness stuff. They almost kill a fucking knight on average dice in a single combat phase when you set it up like this, and a prime+6 warriors is just 225 points (you also want a neurolictor or similar, but those are amazing on their own). Melee Warriors are incredibly killy for their points. The problem with warriors isn't their damage output, it's how easy they are to kill combined with how difficult they are to hide (those 50mm bases fuck them over) and outside of vanguard they're too slow to be reliably delivered. So if you wanted to buff (melee) Warriors, you'd have to make them tankier, but their profile is already fairly impressive as is (on paper) and we absolutely don't want a repeat of 9th ed with stacking defensive abilities that made them absurdly hard to kill. I honestly think the best buff they could get is going to back to 40mm bases.

But if you're leaning Tau but just noticed how cool Eldar are, then maybe you really do want to play Tau but you're hesitating because of the money and time commitment of an armyBoth actually. I was dead set on Tau because Suits and Mecha are cool and they are getting a Battleforce but I was hesitating due to the fact they need magnets and maybe big robots require a more experienced hobby enthusiast to do them justice. Eldar look good and yeah I would lean into the Aspect playstyle. They were my second choice but the fact they are newer and easier to get into made them jump to #1 consideration. I'm however not a fan how beaten and humiliated Eldar are in the lore. I also made some calculations and an Eldar army would cost me about the same as a Tau army (including the Battleforce discount) so it's about the same.

Again, Autarchs are the military leaders of the Craftworlds. Farseers do not command them, they advise them. Some Craftworlds, namely Biel Tan, don't even have leading Seer Councils. Even then Farseers are valued because Eldar are a dying species who need every advantage and premonition they can get, hence why Farseers are so valued.>Supposedly a great Admiral widely respected on his CraftworldHe's repeatedly shown as a power-hungry moron who got outmatched in Naval combat by Orks and had to be saved by Craftworlders, only to insult and belittle said Craftworlders in turn. Nothing they would get wouldn't overlap with normal Eldar, so I suggest just modeling and making Harlequin wraithlords / Avatar of Khaine and write your own lore. Other than that Falcon chassis are easy to see why they would is them in addition their weaver vehicles and rangers are easy to understand why as well. >>96759392>he's individualistic in a collectivist societyEldar aren't collectivist. Unless someone is Lost in a Path, if they don't feel comfortable they can pick any of the other paths. In fact becoming a Warrior is viewed as a sombre and honored Path specifically because those Eldar who walk it are choosing to put the Craftworld above themselves. Even then if an Eldar doesn't feel any calling to the Paths they're free to leave as a Ranger, either until they get Lost on the Outcast Path or return and resume their life on the Craftworld. The only time Eldar have been portrayed as truly collectivist is in a niche situation involving Twins, as only Twins can pilot Wraithknights. And Farseers don't "rule" Craftworlds. They report their findings to one another to go over their visions before reporting to other central figures of the Craftworld to determine the best course of action. As I said, in some cases Farseers aren't even central leaders and solely act as advisors to Autarchs.Again, Myrin is just a really shitty knockoff of Prince Yriel.

>>96759450I wouldn't mind this. I don't mind Epic Heroes unlike most of this general. Its never mutually exclusive with your dudes except maybe primarchs. A NL and AL character could be cool, just make them mutually exclusive with other side characters. The mono legions already have Kharne, Typhus, Ahriman, and luscious Lucius who are all better than average BL characters. Unfortunately the best NL character was in the HH and he's dead and AL all remain anonymous. That just leaves Iron Warriors but I would bet a Combat Patrol they will get a release as as their own codex one day with maybe dark mech in there. >>96759518anyone can become a farseer if they really wanted to do though. which might be the actual problem with how typical craftworlds are run since farseers also pick out the eldar who become autarchs
>>96759495Not the anon you are talking to but you just described a collectivist society. Just because there are individual freedoms doesn't mean it isn't collectivist. Also you don't have to "rule" a society to have massive and potentially harmful influence. America is nominally a democratic state separate from the church and yet religious leaders still have enormous pull at the white house and everyone has to constantly virtue signal how much they love God (including dema like Biden). Ultimately someone doesn't just say "I want to walk the path of being president or king or Admiral" on a Craftworld, their government is basically a seniorocracy with the oldest and most psychically gifted having, on average, the most political influence. Someone who wanted to fight naval battles would walk its associated path regardless of how much they cared about the Craftworld.
>>96759526he's a generic technoarcheologist in 40k, at that point might as well count Larsen van der Grauss from the Rogue Traders kit
>>96759518>they literally have a path called the path of the outcast because do many people feel lost and aliensted by the path system.Yeah anon, I mentioned that. And if an Outcast wants to rejoin Craftworld life they can do so without issue, just like they can leave. And no, they don't have a Caste system. Seers often work in seclusion with the Crystal Domes because they're literally communing with the crystalized seers of the past. Furthermore any Eldar can go on the Path of the Seer regardless of their past, hell Warlocks are specifically Seers who were once Warriors. Being a Seer does not automatically put your above other Eldar in status, and Farseers are respected because they're Seers who have had significant and long-standing experience, just as Autarchs are respected for having mastered several Aspects while being a Warrior.
>>96759552>since farseers also pick out the eldar who become autarchsThey don't pick out Autarchs, Autarchs are specifically the Path Of Command, which is (in usual Craftworlds) walked by learning from numerous Aspect Shrines as a Warrior without becoming an Exarch.

>>96759567>young talented military leader constantly held back from killing chaos by pussy ass farseersI would join the corsairs too. You realize that the Eldar are written specifically to be flawed right? They aren't objectively good at everything. Its 40k, everything is complaining. The corsairs are where anti social talented people go because Eldar society doesn't like you if you don't hero worship the oldfags and the novel does a good job of showing that. I'm not saying the Path system isn't good for most Eldar, but there are people who it doesn't work for and that's what the novel shows. Why would a naval officer walk the path of the Outcast? That makes no sense, giving up your career and becoming a social pariah because you disagree with the Farseers of your community isn't freedom. Of course you will always be welcomed back, as long as you conform to societal norms surrounding jerking off oldfags/ancestors/psychic presience. We not the Farseers can be wrong because we see it in almost every Eldar story, but its taboo to say so. Even in Bieltan.

>>96759514t. knower
>>96759571The way its written, its like a candidate thing, where certain Eldar are chosen to walk the Path of Command, and then they go through the various shrines. The ritual where autarchs get a relic weapon from shrines is also a test to make sure they can be an autarch. Its kind of vague, and seems inconsistent honestly.Like is it possible to just casually become an autarch, like you become an aspect warrior a few times over centuries and someone notices you'd make a good autarch? Do you then go back and pick up relic weapons from the previous shrines you were at? Its also interesting because autarchs aren't inherently lost on the Path of Command like farseers are on their path, though they can be.
>>96759609>You realize that the Eldar are written specifically to be flawed right?careful, you are going to make the resident eldarfags very upset

>>96759627Everyone is flawed! That's the point of 40k! I'm an eldarfag! >>96759630don't jinx it
>>96759539its unfortunate there aren't any recently prominent thousand sons characters who aren't ahriman, what's with that
>>96759648Thousand Sons were always the smallest legion, but Ahriman has had a few apprentices over the years and he killed the pyromancer dude in a sorcerer duel. At the end of the day he is THE sorcerer so anyone else is going to be either his student or in conflict with him. He's older than Magnus is. They are quite literally just too few in number to have a lot of named characters, even more so because 95% of them were dusted to prevent mutation.
>>96759609>>young talented military leader constantly held back from killing chaos by pussy ass farseersIt wasn't 'constantly'. The Farseer told him to not poke the Chaos cult that wasn't aware that the Craftworld was even there, because why potentially get Eldar killed or bring unwanted attention towards the Craftworld, and the retard sperged out over it because he legitimately doesn't care about the lives of other Eldar. It flat out says so in the book during a battle when he has a power trip over having become a higher commander. He's an immature gloryhound, and instead of stopping to think over his actions he got pissy and left. The Craftworld didn't even force him out or punish him for his thoughts, he left entirely on his own.

When i opened up I saw that some pieces were broken off the sprue and there was even a broken piece of plastic straight up through the box. >>96760023they're specialized to fight xenos, recruit from a variety of chapters so they have diversity, have inquisition resources and sanctioned xenotech, can do whatever they want because the marines have to swear secrecy but they also bring back some tactics to their chapters.
>>96760063Wrong. Real marinefags are fine with DW being marine spec ops, but GW wants to sell viable full factions.Same for GK
god i wish i had the patience to be good at painting.
>>96760101A lot of Space Marine players are into the power fantasy of it, and the Inquisition being the fun police while also being "normal" midgets ruins it for them. This leads to a funny situation with the Months of Shame, where both Space Wolves and Grey Knights blame the Inquisition for the whole fiasco. There's a cognitive dissonance where GKfags act like they aren't beholden to the Inquisition but turn around and say that all the grimdark purging is the Inquisition and they had no agency in the fiasco

The organization of the Inquisition has always been rather fluid and changed as needed for the tasks at hand. For example in the Grey Knights 10th ed codex its said that most of their work with the Inquisition has been relegated to the 7th Brotherhood. >>96760210 is confused because a lot of people can't properly parse the (purposeful) lack of information around things that are meant to be everchanging mysteries. The Sisters of Battle are a large organization, and have many different roles split out amongst the various Orders. The Deathwatch have dozens of small fortresses around the galaxy, some might be linked to the High Lords, or now under the command of Guilliman, or still controlled by the Inquisition. The Imperium reshapes itself constantly.
