If your legion could get a named character model made in plastic, who hasn't already had one in FW resin - who would you pick?

Omegon. I mean it's the last primarch without a model.

Interesting choice. Wonder if someone like Sindri would've been active around this time, though.

I would use my choice to instead get a resin upgrade pack for use on all characters, because special characters are gay and no one of good moral character uses them. One of the best things 3rd did was turn them all into varieties of beatstick so there's no incentive to run them anymore.

There's also Ingo Pech. Sindri being in HH would only enable ALfags even more in their constant memes.

Armilus Dynat works because he's one of the guys who specifically doesn't look like Alpharius. As if "old bald guy" was somehow unique. Same for the Exodus persona
Both Ingo and Herzog would pretty much be Alpharius without his helmet of spear, wielding a bolter and gladius

>>
>>96780165
No, because being ridiculously large is an increasing disadvantage in combat, specially ranged combat. Not to mention that having an assault being significantly slowed down because the marines would have to awkwardly bend down, or even worse crawl on their knees, to fit through corridors made for regular humans, is just laughable.
>>
>>96780116
...You know, I wonder about that. You think we'll ever get a rule where we can deploy both AL Primarchs on the field?
Anyway I'm personally hoping for a God-Emperor model so he can lead the Talons. You know GW will do it at some point.
>>
yestarday I came back home today, after 3 months working abroad and found out that my mother decided that my "toys", books etc took up too much spet and threw them out. Not even sold or given to someone. Just trashed them. And now I am not sure what to do. I don't think I want to rebuy my army , not even sure If I want to buy a new one. And two days ago I was spending a ton of time thinking what I want to buy for christmas. Anyone had something like that happen to them? Like someone stole your army etc and suddenly something you cared a lot about, suddenly stopped to matter.
>>
>>96780241
When I was a kid, my religious grandmother destroyed the Heroquest box I bought with my measly allowance because her church told her fantasy games were satanic.
30 years later I'm still mad about it, and you should be mad at your mother too.

You should take the opportunity to throw away her "toys" too, and teach her a lesson about fucking around with valuable personal items, and lack of respect.

I don't think that others doing bad stuff or stuff you don't like, gives me a pass to do that in return. Otherwise what am I suppose to go go "hunt" GW execs for removing Legion of the Damned after I build the army and doing to Death Wing the stuff they did post 8th ed?

But thanks for sharing. Maybe I never liked the hobby. I don't think I remember why I got in to it. I know my friends played the game, but non of them plays for years. And I mean like decades. Well to makes things funny. I have an order on 30 tacticals incoming, because 0 of those and they seem to be crucial this edition lol.

Have a good weekend anons.
>>
>>96780280
Not really. Mostly because here you wait years for the court to go in session .I know someone who has been trying to get divorced for 7 years, wife constantly is sick, her lawyer is sick, she changes the laywer, the judge changes etc And you have to pay for each month of civil case running. After 2 months it would cost more (bribes and lawyer salary not included) then buying a 3000pts army.
>>
>>96780193
Why haven't more non-imperial factions forced the Spess Mehreens to fight in cramped spaces only suited for people 6 ft and under?
>>
>>96780300
that is easy. The "door ways" aren't build with humans or space marines in mind. They are build in mind with smallest high efficency portable power generator, which is mass produced, in mind. And those mother fuckers post golden age are the size of small modern car. And as you can imagine this means you can fit a space marine, terminator etc in to such doorway too.

Anon I live on a farm that belonged to my family since XVIth century. I can "kick my" parents as in order to take over the farm, I had to sign an "eternal care" (legal term here). My parents (rather my mom, my dad moved out 4 years ago to live on his parents farm, after his brother died) are immovable from here, and if I treat them bad I could be taken to court, by state and the state, unlike civilians, takes stuff through court at an expert speed. 6-9 months and I would have to buy my mom a house or flat. Which I can't afford. I already have to work in UK to not be in the red at the end of the year.

Question about shading/weathering these guys; should I do an agrax/nuln wash on the red trim and recess in the shoulderpads, or leave it to the oils to do the work?

Also, should I do a pinwash grey for all the white first, then do some more dirty weathering, or just say fuck it and go straight into the dirty?

Ah, I'm also getting fucked by my parents, or rather my mom. I fucked up in school and it took me some years to get shit in order but now I have a job and renting a flat. But my mother has no savings left and no job, won't get a pension either except the basic one everyone is guaranteed in my country. I will inherit nothing of value and she's living with me, also paying for all her expenses. I also want a family but she's been gaslighting me my entire life that families are bad and that I can only trust her. Considering kicking her out even though that means she kills herself and her dog (which I do love and have been paying for entirely the last few years). My life went to shit when my gf I was living with at the time decided to moved back to her home country with or without me, did this in the middle of my trade education and I was lucky to even find a new place to rent. At the same time my mum fucked up her plans and had to move in with me. The last few years I have had no life, just go to work and do nothing yet I have been unable to save money due to helping my mother with some large expenses. I would have preferred never being born.

62, and she's living with my in my rental flat. She doesn't pay rent, doesn't cook but does clean now and then. It's odd because she went to university and got a good degree, though it wasn't her choice, then she struggled with trying ro please her parents and doing what she wanted. She did get rich once due to investments but she just lived off it instead of growing her fortune. I actually tried killing myself once due to her constant verbal assaults on my competence, pretty sure she's the reason I grew up with a crippling lack of confidence. But she has done some good things for me, otherwise it would have been simple to let her die. Just worried I'm giving up my life for her, just like she gave hers up for her parents.
>>
>>96781434
>Just worried I'm giving up my life for her
You are. Try to sit down and have a serious conversation with her about this. Ask if she really wants you to sacrifice your entire life supporting her just to end up dying alone yourself. If she has even a shred of maternal instinct left, that should mean something to her.
Speaking from experience here. Don't put this off for too long and end up with nothing but regret. It's your life, and people living in the same house should respect that.
>>
>>96781434
Women do not fight with fists, they fight with words and manipulation. Have you spoken to her about her verbal abuse? You should tell her about your suicide attempt, I'm so sorry about that and I'm glad you are alive. Verbal abuse is awful to do to your own child, beating them down like that.
Let her die? No her life is her responsibility, her actions are not your fault. Very manipulative behavior.

Do not waste your life for abusive parents. If you haven't heard of him, check out Stefan Molyneux and his call in shows podcasts, he offers very good insights on abusive parents. He was abused himself by a single mom and a neglectful father.

How did you choose your legion? I know two/three threads ago the suggestion of choosing a legion based on personal mental illness but I ended up split between these four:
Imperial Fists
Iron Hands
Emperor's Children
Slamanders
>>
>>96783096
Yeah lmao. Very well, now you gotta try them. You wouldn't buy shoes without first trying them on, right?
Make lists for each of them and try them out. Either use count as, or Roll20 or TTS or whatever. You'll see how your lists play and what they're missing, so you can refine them. Choose the list you enjoyed the most, but keep note of all the games
Congrats, you've both chosen your legion, and fluffed a war theatre with enemies you can identify with, so it's not one-sided either

Honestly what could Perturabo do? That anon dismissed it too quickly, but his intelect is on par with the Reductor Mechanicum, and he does have skills similar to Vulkan and Ferrus, but with logistics like Guilliman, which those guys don't have all at once
Like, he literally creates a time-slowing machine to fight Hrud on his terms, which no one else was able to do. The only two other times people have fought Hrud was Tau (drones & remote battle suits) and massed Dreadnoughts (won but perished after what felt like thousands of years for them)
Horus and Erebus actively sabotaged Perturabo, but he was able to fight an Ork empire that not even the SW and WS together were able to defeat. And yet Perty is merely called "some comrade in arms"

Aesthetically, one is too many
Rules wise, the melta weapon seems really good but unless the opponent has land raiders or something like that I think you are going to struggle to make your points back.
In general I think you are shooting yourself in the foot bringing more than one compared to other things like predators if you just want lass canons
>>
>>96785061
your retarded comparison misses that predators are made of absolute paper and constantly dmg1 while kratos is not worth shooting with most antitank in game and stable means all its lascannons deal 100% more damage while moving.

>Aesthetically, one is too many
It (and the sicaran) are the best looking marine tanks by a literal mile.

Super chuffed 3e made them finally usable
>>
>>96785061
Three predators with full lascannons is what, 12 lascannon shots? A kratos is 4 lascannon shots + 2 melta gun shots.
However if the predators move they have half effectiveness, so effectively 6 lascannons. Plus the S9 vs S10 is quite big. (as is Av14 vs AV13)

I think if you need a dedicated At tank the best option is a laser vindicator, that shit smacks. Laser predators are however better utilitarians since lascannons are still pretty decent for poking at heavy infantry and shit.
>>
>>96785123
It's pretty ridiculous that a lasmaxxed pred can't even kill a rhino without staying stationary or having a multimelta
>>
>>96785083
Your retarded counterpoint misses that you don't need to move with 48" range weapons, that the kratos moves a whooping 7" with stable and that any kratos can also kill your kratos in one round of shooting
>>
>>96785123
kratos is 8 lascannons worth of damage because of stable. Predators are an especially stupid purchase because it costs +20 to get lascannon sponsons that do dmg1 on predators that die turn 1 or +20 points to get lascannon sponsons on the kratos that do dmg2 because stable while able to survive all 4 game turns.

The kratos isn't "2 melta shots" it's 2 predator-one-shotting shots with Melta24" instead of Melta8", stable so it moves and stays Strength10+armourbane (easily one-shotting predator with dmg8 and kills on 3+ with 2 shots) 10 multimeltas in melta-range are less scary if they had to move than the kratos melta while zooming with 32" threat range stable.

The difference between 13/12/10 armor and 14/14/14 armor is monumental. Particularly for melee and deepstrike and jetpack and jetbike units where predators' 10 armor gets it dead instantly to even S8 powerfists that are nearly 100% harmless to the kratos.

Laser vindicators also suck compared to kratos, but not as badly as predator sucks. The laser vindicator is still an easily dead on turn 1 glass cannon that is 10x easier to counter and kill than kratos, and it's still a joke if it's not standing still (2 shots only dmg3 instead of dmg8 of kratos), but at least when it is stationary its guns are actually scary to AV14 spartans trying to drive onto the center objective unlike the predator's toy guns. So while Kratos is S-tier broken, Laser vindicators are roughly B-tier to Predators D-tier performance. The downside of Laser vindicators is they're far inferior at fighting non-tanks. A 160 point laser vindicator with only 1 gun is essentially nothing against enemy terminators, jump elites and other non-tanks, since it gets 2 shots to the kratos 6 shots (which hit identically hard against terminators but 3x more times) The killer is how bad 13-13-10 armor is. Any random hammers/fists or meltabombs or DS and vind pops instantly.
>>
>>96785214
Breaking News, in RETARD's WORLD: Buildings do not exist in the game of Warhammer. 48" gunlines can sit stationary and will always see any enemy unit they want to.

Literally the IQ of a 5 year old.
>>
>>96785123
If you are even bothering with a predator in 3.0 it's with a heavy conversion beamer as an artillery piece to blow holes in blobs on objectives or vanguard units in the open after they charge something.
>>
>>96785290

I'm still amazed the Lernaeans get the full-fat variant of the conversion beamer and as such can do the same thing. 3" blast is less effective than the Predator's 5" blast, but getting 2/3 of a predator thrown in with your objective-holding elite TEQ squad is a hell of a deal. Someone squished up an entire Astartes army into a soup-like homogenate and made terminators out of the mix.

The good news is, I'm singlehandedly shifting the meta of my playgroup by making them reconsider taking nothing but Tacticals, command squads, and AV14 vehicles after I've demonstrated the effectiveness of "statuses out the wazoo" with my mechanicum, they're now talking about taking veteran assault squads, sicarans, and of all things Chaplains since voxes can't protect against getting hit three statuses a turn

a space marine in an armoured vehicle is actually a lot better than a normal human:
>better handling of heavy ammo and parts, maintenance work
>better spatial awareness, connects its helmet HUD to the vehicle sensors
>better multitasking: comms, driving and shooting several weapons at once
>better protection thanks to power armour. Less chance of penetrating hits wounding or killing them, unless something explodes or they're in the path of the attack. They should be impervious to most small fragments and shock. (crew stunned has never made sense for Astartes, IMO)
>>
>>96787671
astartes power armor IS the extra armor rule.

and another point for your list
>astartes vehicle pilots dont count towards codex limits

They have artificial gravity in spaceships, I think they have ways to compensate for inertia. It's not like when a voidship accelerates everyone is pinned to the floor like in a rocket.
>>
>>96787671

I don't think you understand how destructive anti-armor fire can be to the things inside. Lascannons cause explosions at the point of impact, they'll fuck up an Astartes in a tank.

anon, thanks to recent wars there's a lot of videos out there showing what happens when a tank/APC is hit. Unless ammo or fuel explodes, the crew usually is not killed instantly. And that's just baseline human meatbags.

Anyway, vehicle combat in the game is gamey and abstracted to hell. Like, if you actually look at a Predator it should have better AV in the sides than in the front. LRs shouldn't be AV14 in all sides, and so on.
Ideally the custom damage tables from 2e should come back to makes things a bit more simulationist and spicy.

>>
So what's actually rusting on the DG power armor?
>>

>>
>>96787683
>astartes vehicle pilots dont count towards codex limits
Depends on the vehicle. Many vehicles (bikes, speeders, rhinos) are piloted by regular company marines. It's often more sophisticated vehicles that have techmarines and adepts piloting them.
>>
>>96787725
Plasteel.
>>
>>96787783
Why did the DG want their equipment to rust? That'll lead to equipment failure really fast. Unless it's something like corten steel where it's just the outer layer that rusts without damaging the rest.
>>
>>96787790
Considering how much they handle all sorts of chemicals, maybe the latter is the case?
>>
>>96787711

The protection afforded by sealed armor (whether Astartes power armor or Auxilia void armor) is going to matter much more than an astartes vs. regular human.

In other words, a human wearing Auxilia armor would be more durable to this kind of fire than a naked Astartes.

>>96787714

Many of the aircraft in 30k/40k are spacecraft as well, and regardless the technology could be used for both. Or the pilots could be cybernetically enhanced.
>>
>>96787671
Question is, is it (always) worth it? We can put tank crews through a decade of training in all possible ways and cram their tanks full of everything that squeezes every ounce of performance out of them, but is it worth it if you only improve the performance by 10% in certain conditions while doubling the cost of each vehicle? We can't even fall back on "they're space marines, they get the best, no expenses spared" when the fluff is full of stuff how the Imperium has to keep inventing simpler equipment and faster training regimes to keep up with demand. Legions swapping non-essential roles from marines to servitors/auxilia would not be beyond them. In earlier books some Legion vehicles had Space Marine Crew as an upgrade, meaning they didn't have marines operating them stock.
>>96787838
Another question is, how much does wearing a heavy protective gear inside a cramped tank hinder you operating said vehicle? Everything is a trade-off.

Played my first game against Vulkan and his gang today.
Whoever wrote his rules deserves to be questioned by the Ordo.

I knew Salamanders were already top tier, but once they’ve got four Prime troops with FNP and what’s basically a better version of the Iron Warriors’ Rite of War for turn one, even a simple leggionary became hard to kill or status. It felt to me the game was over turn 1 since I was struggling to deal significant damage before they went on an objective (they had 1st turn)

That will teach me to play with our guy who says primarchs are "balanced". I now know where all the playtesting went.

Domitars don't cut it? If you boost them to BS5 with cybertheurgy, fire and then volley fire you should melt quite a few termies with all that Breaching 5+ D2 grav, and then you get to fire half of it again for free if they charge you. I'm waiting for a squad of three to arrive at the moment, they're great models but they were just miserable for 1st and 2nd so it's nice to have a reason to run some.

I've mostly been chipping Cataphractii down with Krioae of both types and sometimes Vultarax rockets if I have no more vehicles to plink, although I haven't been fighting any big termie deathstars that haven't immediately eaten shit from Karacnos Pinning (3) or allied unit anti-TEQ. Turns out Death Guard tacsups with 10 alchem-flamers do a surprising amount of damage to termies just with weight of saves.

>>96786561

The Krios gun is a wonderful thing, I love that pie plate. Currently running 2x Venator 1x stock, but I'm tempted to round that out to 2 and 2.

Are your Domitars terrorising people that badly? They're mean area denial, but their range is short compared to the other two units mentioned.

Yes. Backpacks too, as they're not beholden to an armour mark, but their own patterns (pic related). We know of at least Serpha-V/Sol-Harrier ("MkII"), Phaeton pattern heavy lift ("MkIV"), and Mark 7 Mars/Valkyris/Type 12 ("40k"). "MkV" jump packs and the various legion specific unit ones have not been given names. We've seen different marks using different jump packs and even backpacks (MkIV used to come with Phaeton backpacks until they were given upgrade 2e backpacks (identified as Mark IV in 3e rulebook). Various heavy weapons used to come with their own backpacks, interchangeable across all marks.

While the socket used by space marine backpacks is supposed to be compatible all the way to primaris, the backpacks were also released along certain armour marks. Like the original Mars one used by MkII and MKIII.
The mkIV backpack was the default model used in MkIV onwards until M36-7 when it began to be replaced with the one currently seen in 40k tacticals.
Phaeton was an offshot backpack used mostly in mkV and MKI suits, also based in MKVI tech themselves

The jump packs are another matter, but they usually were modified or based in the regualr backpack models. There's pretty much a jp variant for each one.

>no idea how mkV jump packs are even supposed to look
like pic related, it's based in the same Phaeton design

Currently have most of a Death Guard army painted up, 2k out of 3k. I've got 40 tacticals, 20 HSS marines (10 autocannons, 5 lascannon, 5 missile launcher), a Preator and command squad in land raider, a contemptor, and some apothecaries + a tech marine.
Think I'm going to add 2 Inductii squads in Mk6 armour with rhinos. Have it so the -true- great crusade era legionaries march in 15-20 man squads while the new guys get the usually eschewed vehicles. Should I get some Sabres and Javelins to add more damage into my list? Or should I just lean even heavier into infantry?
>>
>>96793419

You might enjoy a ten-alchem-flamer squad of some kind, either regular TSS or the DG unique destroyers. They're fairly cheap and they can absolutely murder people when 10-12 Poison 2+ flamer templates pop out of a rhino and score 50+ hits on a squad. Otherwise, I think you definitely need some anti-tank, probably of larger caliber than Sabres and Javelins can provide. Multimelta squads in transports are pretty good for DG because you can disembark, fire while benefitting from Heavy and then React back into the box, as are Dreads that can shoot and scoot their heavy guns, but there are also always Rapiers.

Yee, that's what the Inductii are for. Not as potent as a full squad, but 3 Alchem flamers (1 per 5 dudes and a combi on the sgt) coming out of a Rhino and having line sounds fun.
>I think you definitely need some anti-tank
This is what I am worried about. 10 man auto cannon squad has a siege breaker for sunder (worth mentioning my group is still using 2nd ed) which can kill a vehicle per turn a lot of the time. Was going to use my fast attack slots for 2 Javelins w/ lascannons and meltas in separate units, and then a squadron of 2 Sabres with an undecided loadout.
Pic rel is the big brother to my 10 man Autocannon squad, he protects them from enterprising melee units (and has an autocannon to match their own fire)

>>
>>96793505

Oh, you're in second edition, never mind, most of that advice was irrelevant. Javelins probably do adequately, then. I still like the full wall of flamers, since a full squad of 10+ can force so many saves that Terminator units will evaporate before they reach you just from eating a full round of fire and then Overwatch, but the Inductii aren't bad.
>>
>>96793590

I think I've seen you using those Grand Cathay bits before. How well do the weapons and stuff fit on space marines? Been thinking about ways to customize a WS force, but I don't have access to a 3D printer. The GC stuff looks pretty cool though and similar enough thematically.
>>
>>96793625

I haven't got a lot of DG games in this edition but I am eagerly eying up 3e transports for them. Remounting with reactions means you can make a shooty squad in something like an outflanking LR sans Assault Ramp absurdly sticky with good placement, since you can use the transport itself as a giant LOS blocker and if they move close to you to shoot/charge you just hit Reposition and get back in the box. Makes your HSS way more durable, and DG are basically the only army that can use Heavy weapons that way.

Opens with Dorn, Malcador, Valdor and Krole seeing Horus declare his rebellion and them deciding to immediately retaliate.

We see a Raven Guard astropath deliver the message from Terra directly to Corax. He wants to believe it is a false message but quickly realises it's true. He sends a reconnaissance ship to the Isstvan system and they are the ones that discover the traitors are still on Isstvan V.

We follow Kharn recovering from death on Isstvan III. His teeth clack regularly and his right side is often numb. He doesn't wear power armour because he can't, following his deaththe nerves in his body won't connect to the neural connections in the armour.

Angron is stalking around being a loner as usual. Kharn summons him to a meeting with all four primarchs. As Fulgrim explains the plan for the other legions tobackstab the loyal three Angron bursts out that it is a vile betrayal. He wants them to all announce their loyalties and fight head on with honour. He moves to attack Fulgrim after Fulgrim mocks him but Mortarion tanks the charge without moving and gets Angron to stand still. Horus interjects to calm them by agreeing with Angron to placate himbut of course backing Fulgrim's plan. Angron storms out of the meeting and the rest drift away after that. Maloghurst gets a nod from Horus to take care of the situation. Mal gets Abbadon to go talk with Kharn in the hope Kharn can keep Angron from any communication equipment. Once the room only has Mal and Horus left they have a talk. Mal is quick to tell Horus that the group is falling apart, he recommends that the forces be split up but Horus is quick to shut the idea down.

Following their talk Horus arranges to talk with Alpharius through the Davinite priests. They use an astropath who gets possessed to talk with Alpharius.

Ingo Pech is in the room with Alpharius and Omegon when their astropath is possessed so that Horus can talk with them. Horus believes he is just talking to Alpharius but Omegon is able to continue speaking right after Alpharius without Horus noticing. The three-way conversation continues with the silent primarch using hand signals to communicate with the speaking one while Horus asks them to begin manipulating Ferrus into attacking as soon as possible. The primarchs give the task to Pech to arrange and Omegon name drops, 'it is a realm of chaos out there now...'.

An Alpha Legion remembrancer agent sabotages a void harbour with a toxic gas that makes every person who inhales it go into an uncontrollable psychic blowout.

Vulkan sends out a message urging the loyalists to not act in haste but is ignored and everyone that can is told to gather at Beta Garmon. Ferrus and Corax have a series of messages back and forth where Corax keeps wondering why Horus has turned. Ferrus doesn't care, he only wants to go kill him as quick as possible.

Abbadon goes to meet Kharn in a duelling ring without his terminator armour. Kharn is still in awful shape so Abbadon beats him handily while talking about how Kharn isn't his usual self. Abbadon tells Kharn he must stop Angron from doing anything to disrupt their plans. Kharn is angry since he's feeling so useless and gets a burst of rage leading to him pouncing on Abbadon and puncing him a lot. Abbadon pushes him off and they have a stare down. Then Kharn grins and says they can now talk properly. Kharn at first says he can't help but Abbadon does convince him that restraining Angron is the best course of action.

Next we see Kharn searching for Angron and come across Kargos setting red butchers into the ground inside of pods. Laying a trap for the coming battle. He is told to search for Angron near the Emperor's Children zone of control.

Mal and Abbadon have a talk and even Abbadon can see things are straining between the legions already.

We cut to an Emperor's Children legionnaire who has cut up a World Eater during the night and is dragging his corpse to Fabius Bile as payment. The guy is already lost to noise sensations.

Kharn finds what is left of the cut up marine and wants to feel rage but still only feels numb. He worries Angron will find out and want to deal with this himself.

Mal takes a walk around the bases and goes from the Sons of Horus base to the World Eaters base. The lack of a sentry in the WE base doesn't surprise him. He goes from the WE base into a medial zone where all the normal humans stay. They have locked the door to the WE base and pointed weapon servitors at it because of past 'troubles'. Then Mal receives a message from Fulgrim to meet him as he has prepared a weapon to gift to Horus.

Hey fa/tg/guys, hel me understand this rule.
How can a weapon be shock(pinned) rule? You shock and pin a target on a 6? Or you can only shock a pinned enemy?

My favorite part of LI is when the game goes to round 5 and it's still up in the air, and you're both fighting for points with a fraction of what you had at the start.
>>
>>96794528
Imperial Fists have too much of a noble streak to them, so that already narrows it down to 2. Also painting yellow sucks.

So, would you prefer
>Angry cyborg marines outraged their dad got himself killed, and making it everybody's problem
or
>Angry medieval knight marines who autistically hyper-focus on completely eradicating their enemies
>>
>>96794633
actually 4 turns game are superior. 4th edition will have 3 turn games I can't wait!
>>
>>96794685
Actually, I would say the game needs to be only 2 turns. Since HH 1.0 every game has been decided at the end of turn 2, either because one side is entirely dead or because of the VP difference. There is never a reason to play beyond those two turns.
>>
>>96794602
I was leaning Imperial Fists already as they seem the least gimmicky with their theme but yeah, painting yellow is putting me off.

I've seen some schemes that look awesome with lots of heraldry but don't trust myself to pull that off.

>>96794643
Iron Hands seems more the vibe I want in terms of how they fight & their rules but feel like I'm not really doing them justice unless I get a lot of cybernitc/bionic bits to deck them out & already built a lot of my army.

If it helps I've already decided on the core of my force & built half of it.

We have:
>20 tactical beaky marines
>20 Seekers (might also run them as Tactical Veterans)
>10 Cataphractii w/ Powerfists + a Spartan
>5 Tartaros Siege terminators w/ Plasma Blasters
+ a Warmonger to deepstrike
>Mortificator + 3 Contemptor dreads
>Master of Signals + Command and Control Squad

Gonna add some kind of turrets, either Quad, Tarantula, or Rapier

It's a bitch but with practice you'll pull it off. I encourage to get a white primer and a yellow contrast paint since it'll make the process a lot easier
>>
>>96794740
>a lot of cybernitc/bionic bits
You don't need that many, one of the old IH legionary kits from a recaster would be enough to sprinkle throughout a sizeable army. Tactical marines only need one gauntlet to be painted silver remember, it's only high ranking members of the IH that are increasingly covered in bionics.
The IH legion trait is also very strong for dreadnoughts, so with three contemptors that would fit very well for the collection you already have.

Appius Calpurnius, the EC marine who wanted more surgery from Fabius awakes in his lab. He realises Fabius intends to use him for something else and wants to scream but Fabius has taken away his mouth. Fabius lets Dark Mechanicum tech priests continue the more advanced surgery to Appius. Following the surgery his hearing has been further enhanced but in a way useful to the coming battle.

We cut back to Mal still walking around the medial zone, he starts to notice fetishes of crows, serpents and bones amongst the human soldiers. He also sees the spiral symbol and wonders how it spread here when he makes sure the Davinites have no contact with the human troops. He continues his journey into a cavern and stops to stare at the titans of Legio Mortis standing still in the darkness. A princeps called Aruken comes to meet Mal and Mal notices how change has spread quickly, the princeps is a wasted figure almost skeletal whose face is gone, replaced by a crumpled skull with a speaker grill. Cables replace his eyes and connect to servo skulls.

Next Mal goes to the EC zone and is met alone by Fulgrim. For the entire walk Mal experiences extreme discomfort being around Fulgrim. Mal comments on how none of the EC marines are around and there have been reports of them not doing their tasks as well as other reports of them doing much viler things. This leads to an argument when Mal asks if the EC are still a viable fighting force, to which Fulgrim counters that Horus should be more worried about the WE and Angron. As Fulgrim calms down he repeatedly tries to convince Mal that Angron is a mad dog who should be killed and knows Horus doesn't have the stomach to do it but if Angron tries to attack him again he tells Mal he will kill him.
They reach Fabius' lab and enter to see the new weapon. It is Appius, he has been transformed into a being capable of singlehandedly disrupting the attackers vox network.

Next Mal leaves the EC zone to visit the Death Guard zone. It is an entire zone of trenches with almost no elevated fortifications unlike all the other zones. Underneath the zone networks of tunnels have been dug by Mortation's command, just in case the loyalists virus bomb them. As Mal steps into a gun emplacement to survey the Urgall Depression Mortarion appears behind him and confronts him. Mal is shocked and has no idea what to expect but Mortarion blurts out that they are using the Davinites powers too much. Mal explains how they are necessary to enable secret communications and disrupt warp travel. Mortarion tells Mal that he won't allow Horus to become a tyrant, and he tells Mal to reject the Davinites and remove them. Mortarion sees Mal as the string puller responsible for them in Horus' shadow. He threatens Mal that there is nothing he won't do if Mal continues to use them. When Mortarion leaves Mal gazes at the stars and wishes for Ferrus to arrive soon.

Next we follow Ferrus and his commanders onboard the Ferrum. Rather than say Horus they use the term Principal Traitor. Ferrus tells how he has taken command of all forces in the area and sent word back to Terra to which Dorn has agreed on behalf of The Emperor. They all watch a holo projection of Isstvan V and Ferrus wonders why Horus is waiting there. Castrmen Orth realises he is expecting their assault and says it to Ferrus to which Ferrus agrees. They use the holo to look at the Urgall Depression and know Horus wants them to attack. They predict that Horus will attack them in the back once they begin their assault and that is why none of the traitor legion fleets are at Isstvan V. When Ferrus asks what his commanders propose to do as a solution, mass bombardment is offered by Ruuman but shot down by Belog as they would have to go down to root out the marines anyway. Orth says to attack as swift as possible, end the fight on the ground and then turn around to fight whatever is behind them.

Next we see the galaxy map in this area reveal the nearby forces for Ferrus to command. And then the 'loyal' primarchs engage in astropathic messaging.
Lorgar is first to message Ferrus and agrees they must attack as quickly as possible. Ferrus asks Alpharius if he has elements within the traitor legions to which he gets a reply that they have all been 'rooted out'.
Corax messages Ferrus that he desperately needs to have a talk with him before they commit to anything. Next Perturabo messages that he is ready to comply with all orders. Lorgar again messages that they can't show restraint and must kill everyone on Isstvan V.

Next Alpharius (maybe) messages Corax that Horus is baiting their attack and he recommends that they instead blockade and siege Isstvan V. He knows Corax is closer to Ferrus than him so he asks him to please get Ferrus to stop his rash attack.

Following that Alpharius (maybe) messages Ferrus directly telling him that the plan for the direct assault is a terrible idea and he instead recommends blockading and sieging Isstvan V. He tells Ferrus that if they kill Horus it could make him a martyr and lead to further rebellion. Ferrus won't listen, he replies that the direct assault will happen.

Corax tries to message Vulkan as he believes he could calm Ferrus somewhat but he can't get a message through to him.
Corax tells Alpharius that he can't get a message to Vulkan and asks him if something has befallen Vulkan to which Alpharius tells him that he has heard nothing.
Then Corax messages Ferrus asking Vulkan is.

Finally the delayed message Vulkan sent earlier is received but the plan is already set and Ferrus won't deviate. Vulkan tries to tell him that even though they are traitors they are still their brothers and Vulkan can't forget that so quickly. Ferrus simply replies he is glad to have Vulkan by his side.

Corax and Vulkan have an exchange where they both wonder if perhaps they are wrong to care so much about not wanting to kill the traitors and maybe they should be more like Ferrus in his pure rage.

Next a human fleet and some solar auxila receive word that they will be amongst the first to enter combat at Isstvan V due to how close they are to the system.

We see Cassian Draco wake from his slumber and be placed in a dreadnought, he reminisces about a moment he had with Horus then opens his eyes to see Vulkan before him. Vulkan asks him how he would serve the legion now to which he replies he would serve in battle.

Aboard the Shadow of the Emperor, Alvarex Maun is in Corax's chamber. He watches a memento mori clock tick before Corax appears in the room. As the legion master of descent Corax asks him if it is possible to drop the entire legion within 100 minutes of arriving at Isstvan V. Maun is shocked and says it's impossible but Corax knows he's thinking about how to accomplish it. Finally Maun says it can be done and he will do it.
Also aboard the ship Kades Nex prepares for the coming fight by going against kill-servitors in a training deck. He has no orders and nobody is commanding him, he just knows that Corax wants him to descend and murder the ranking officers of the Sons of Horus.

Finally the fleets arrive at Isstvan V and immediately proclaim that they have come to war.

As the words are spoken we see them repeated at a meeting on the planet as the traitors have access to the loyalist communications thanks to the Alpha Legion. Horus gives a speech about how the moment has finally arrived where they will enlighten their former brothers that the Emperor is the true traitor and Horus and his fellows are simply fighting against a great lie.
Just as his speech ends to shouts of 'Lupercal' a Justaerin door guard is sent flying backwards. Angron enters in a rage shouting how he knows Horus is silencing him. He says how his legions astropaths have all been taken to which Mal says they are needed. In a blink Angron is before him and tells him if he says one more word he will die. Horus cuts in to tell Angron that there can be no word to the loyalists and he will not allow Angron to ruin things now. Angron roars that actions are what matter and honour needs no explanation.
To this Mortarion says he is the tyrant son of a king. He calls Angron a selfish child. Angron stands transfixed and silent. Mortarion leaves the room, while Horus stands still staring at Angron. Finally Angron leaves quickly and Mal turns to Kharn to tell him to follow him.

As Kharn tries to find Angron his mouth clacks open and closed, getting stuck often so he can hardly speak. He finds a trail of meat and body parts leading to the EC command zone. He follows the trail into a trench which has a secret tunnel entrance, he realises that all the time Angron spent outside was not him daydreaming and staring at the sky but finding routes and forming plans on how to get into the central vox station.

We cut to the Shadow of the Emperor again with Maun being by Corax's side as he armours. Corax tells him t stay as he wants a witness and then begins a vox communication with Ferrus and Vulkan who appear as holos in the room. Ferrus informs them that the countdown to the attack has begun and only small incremental changes can be made. Vulkan and Corax both try to start a conversation with him but are unsuccessful until Corax asks should they do this which has Ferrus' head shoot up in rage.

Kharn descends the tunnel finding dismembered EC marines as he goes, his only weapon is a seax. Kharn finds Angron just outside the blast doors to the vox station, surrounded by hunks of meat that he guesses were EC marines. Kharn struggles to get the words out but tells Angron he can't do this, he is immediately sent flying through the air by a backhand. He lands hard in a bloody heap and raises his seax to the air just in time to meet Angrons chainaxe. Angron shouts at him, insulting him, Kharn realises Angron is holding back as he could easily force his axe right into Kharn.

Then Horus enters in full armour wielding Worldbreaker.
He tells Angron no message will be sent. Angron tells him this is wrong. Horus simply replies words mean nothing and only actions matter, using Angron's words against him. Angron is surprised and simply says 'Horus...' to which Horus replies 'No more words, brother'. And attacks him.

We cut back to the conversation between Corax, Ferrus and Vulkan. Ferrus asks if they think that nothing should be done. Corax simply says that he thinks they should talk about what they are doing. The order from Terra is to end the rebellion and bring Horus back, they are asking Ferrus if committing a massacre is the right way to do that. Vulkan and Corax both recommend restraint. Vulkan recommends to encircle them and blockade them when Ferrus asks what he would do. Ferrus knows it would not work as Horus would never surrender. Corax and Vulkan both believe that the reason Ferrus is so angry is because he has a personal vendetta.

Next it cuts back to Kharn feeling transhuman dread as he sees Angron and Horus fight. Horus is a relentless attacker, always putting Angron back. Angron kicks chest eye Horus has and shatters it, Horus smashes Angron with his mace in return. Angron asks why he is never given a choice to which Horus tells him you are never given them, you make them. Angron attacks with his axes but the blows don't land. Horus drops Worldbreaker to grab one of the axes and uses his claws to slice the chain on the other axe letting him twist it out of Angron's hand and use it himself. He shows Angron he could have killed him then and there. As they face each other axe to axe Horus asks him what his choice will be.

The three-way conversation continues as Corax explains he does want to kill Horus but not out of shame. They know that Fulgrim tried to recruit Ferrus and that is why he is in such a rage that the traitors thought he was similar to them in any way. Vulkan and Corax both tell him that he has no reason to rage at himself as they know he has always been loyal. He thanks them for their trust and words but still persists with the plan, he explains how the rebellion must be ended now or it will persist and be never ending. He tells them to say if he is wrong but they both agree that with all they know this does seem to be the only choice they have.

Angron shouts that he will never submit and goads Horus to kill him and end it. Instead Horus replies no and steps back. He explains to Angron that the only chain on Angron is the one that the Emperor placed around his neck. He says how he wanted to fight the war with honour but because of the Emperor they cannot. He tells Angron all the things Angron wants to hear. He tells him how he won't find freedom in his own death but in the death of the Emperor he will find freedom perhaps. Angron agrees slowly and begins to wind the chains of his axe around his wrist again. He wants to begin.
