one for our chemically and biologically altered, utterly psychopathic, barely controlled by drugs, indoctrination and brain implants, effectively living weapon boys in blue out there every day not really holding the line against the horrors of the galaxy.
Excellent OP. Glad to be of service.
>>96782035Shat myself, thought this was one of my BOYL pics for a second lel
Cardboard building for Mordheim. Scrap material and craft paint. TS not pro-tier like some guys can make but it beats using textbooks and unpainted boxes as terrain I figure
>>96782584I dig it
Kroxigor
>>96782943lmao these duck legs
>>96781974Here ya go frens.
Anybody working on anything fun? This Nick Bibby ADD86 Minotaur resculpt is killing me.
I know the stock answer is look on telegram but could anyone point me toward stls of the RT era metal Orks? Particularly the ones in the Space Ork Raiders box.
>>96782099>the truth huerts
>>96788275It's a subtle reference to the fact that he's Brazilian. He huehuehuert's anyone as long as it's through a free-to-play MMO.
>>96793460What line is this troll with a ray gun from?Never seen this in my life, really curious
>>96793670John Blanche, so it's probably a multipart conversion.
Some more ancient Blanche stuff, early-mid '80s here in particular, since it is kind of a fascinating look at the bleeding edge of miniatures art at that point.Old soft details lead miniatures, lots of conversions, lots of filling in the details manually with mixed media. Thick gloss varnish. Plenty of building up layering of colours for interesting effects.
Going by the earliest painting articles, a lot of the metallic effect bits might well have just been going over bare metal of the miniatures?I suspect the multiple layers of gloss varnish over everything he uses lends to a distortion effect that rounds out everything; there's not many sharp details in a Blanche miniature, even in later stuff where the sculpts definitely have them.
>>96793670Maybe a conversion of the two Orc weapons crew from:https://ralparthalegacy.com/collections/orcs/products/98-3282and similar. JB used a lot of those old Ral Partha Tom Meier sculpts and the face fits. No better picture because navigating the Ral Partha ranges on lost minis wiki is unpossible.
>>96797310Lost Mini Wiki is agonizingly slow for me.
>>96798011I assume the server is a dying x86 pentium box in some Nottingham lead shed out back behind the flower beds and unconfiscated sharp gardening implements .
>>96798011The guy is fixing it up, basically it's been scraped by AI bots all month
Its epic scale ever coming back for 40k
>>96796374I have a book about painting miniatures from this period (Painting Heroic Miniatures, '84 or '85 I think) and your idea is accurate to one of the tips they give: scrape off the paint from the edge of a sword painted black to really give it a metal appearance. I assume the metallic pigments of the day were not of good quality if they were resorting to bare pewter/lead to produce the effect.
>>96799199Try again anon.
All grogsDid the Salmander scout tank have a datafax in 2e?I feel like I've seen them painted up in 2e tank schemes but never recall seeing one in the time period
I think this guy would look sweet with a jump pack
>>96799600I thought that was an Imperial Armor/FW creation, putting it into 3rd edition era. Could be wrong of course.
>>96801083Do itChad using space crusade minis for 2nd editionWhich I think actually wasn't super uncommon I think I've seen a few space crusade marines mixed in normal armies in WD images before
>>96799600>>96801341it's a post-2nd edition invention. however there are datafaxes out there for later creations like various Leman Russ or Land Raider variants, sisters of battle vehicles and so on, but I couldn't find one for the Salamander. It'd be really easy to put together though, start with a Chimera and work backwards (exact same hull but change the crew number to fit, ditch the hull lasguns, becomes open topped, crew and most of the damage results). And the special rules, well, command vehicle is easy too, just give it a reroll on seeing if you get a preliminary barrage/the deviation on a barrage (reinforcements come on anyway if I remember right) and the Scout's just gonna have a surprisingly high movement speed, like an extra few inches on the Chimera on its attack/fast speeds (say +3/+6 at a guess?).And well, could also just look to the Griffon mortar since that was a 2nd edition vehicle, it's basically the same layout and you can pretty much copy and paste autocannon and crew into the Mortar spot but make sure the gun gets a limited fire arc (about 90 degrees to the front seem right for the mounting? As an open-topped vehicle the crew in the open compartment can engage things with pistols, as scouts maybe they could even have access to smoke or frag grenades). I think the autocannon might get to ignore a roll of a jam (or rather, having to spend a turn clearing it) on the sustained fire dice for being vehicle mounted, can anyone confirm that?
>>96799600I made this for mine. It's stats are copied from pdf which included lot of russ variants and other vehicles. Love playing it, it can infiltrate so it's great forward scout unit for my mechanized steel legion force.>>96801891Only dreads can ignore first jam on their twinlinked autocannons.
ok, let's say someone wants some of that old (2nd and 3rd) 40K minis. Is there anywhere to buy? I guess second hand is the preffered metod, but are there any recasters or something?
Wyrdstone for Mordheim. I'll make progress on a few ruined buildings tonight. Nothing crazy, but just getting some of kind of terrain table ready
>>96806625No, James nobody is recasting your stuff, stop asking. >3rdJeez. I've always felt like a fake grog for starting in 3rd but now I see kids claiming grog status for starting in 5th, so I guess I am old. Anyway, yes eBay is flooded with cheap minis from 3rd and third party minis are out there compatible with them as well. More plastic than you could ever paint
>>96806625You can go to swap-meets at conventions... but ebay is generally pretty good.... if you're willing to wait 5 years to get something for £14, rather than the £200 BIN price.
I don't know if this the actual place to ask, but it seems like the best place to do so. I've been playing Third Edition with some friends, and while fun a few rules (Mostly involving melee) confuse me:1: If you win combat against a Tyrranid in Synapse range, does that mean they don't retreat and combat ALWAYS ends in a draw? 2: On that same note: Is it possible to retreat from combat without losing a fight?3: Is there any good place to more easily read ALL of the rules. Actual layout of the books is... questionable.
>>96806865I think grog only counts for the eras of RT and 2nd edition, the related games that also came out at the time, 3rd til probably 7th is middlehammerThe style in pre 3rd edition is just so different I don't know how people call anything after 2nd edition as grog-like when it's clearly it's own different era and not oldhammer at all
>>96806625Just do not be stupid as I was. It's simple, make a plan, a list of minis you want and then buy them in as bighest batch you can find. I have bought lots of individual minis that are usually more expensive than when you buy in batch plus I spent a shitload of money on postage. Pne more thnig, be patient. The flownof old minis is stable and you will for sure find what you need. Just look for the once in a lifetime offer.and do not be stupid as me to miss those.
>>96806625ebay but be prepared to hand over your kidney, right arm and first born child. although you can take it slow and get the odd auction bargains instead of buy it now scalper prices
My friend insists there was old official lore (either explicit or implicit) that the comet that hit Mordheim was actually a crashing 40k warship. I've told him I'm super skeptical of this and haven't seen it suggested anywhere but he swears it was somewhere (he just can't remember it). Does anyone have any clue on this?I'm aware general of WHFB-40k crossover Easter eggs, but this is a really specific one.
I'll ask here as well:Any grogs that can help me find an old, metal goblin model (probably not citadel, but maybe) that I saw once? It was a night goblin bending over and rudely sticking out his butt. It was not the squig rider with his ass out; he was just standing on the ground.
>>96810613ouch, fuck that. I don't play since the early 3rd ed days (I was a 2nd ed player back in the day) and was looking to get some metal nostalgia. Thanks anon.
>>96812442I randomly get decent scores just by lurking and checking categories for stuff that's misspelled or mid-sized lots with "trash" minis in the foreground and interesting stuff in the back
Hey grogers, need sour help. Does someone here recall old Rogue trader boxes that was sold for non english market to have a piece of paper with printed disclaimer in that language. This paper was inside the wrap. I am planing to buy an old box still sealed with this paper inside, but not sure if this is original GW. I am afraid that I will find a rock inside the box.
>>96811949No unless Be'lakor came from 40k. The fluff was always that the Dark Master was cast out from the heavens (as a Paradise Lost reference) and landed in Mordheim.
>>96811949No, it's very explicitly a chunk of warpstone. This is absolutely not a thing.Mordheim was from an era where 40k and Fantasy had really quite drifted apart from each other (or been wedged more like it). The only era-relevant 40k~ish crossovers were in WHFB proper with some "magic items" found as a result of the Albion campaign. Plus the long-standing background of the warhammer world itself as an Old One thing with the warp gate collapse leading to the realms of chaos at the poles. Even Chaos had lost a lot of its 40k crossover stuff in fantasy and 40k (advent of 3rd edition removing all the extra stuff from the codex) by the point of Mordheim.
>>96815316Codex Chaos (1996) came out only three years before Mordheim and has a reference to Warhammer World existing within 40k.
>>96815402And the chaos codex for 3rd edition 40k was the same year as Mordheim, and wasn't largely a rationalisation and compression of Rogue Trader era material from a decade earlier. Things were changing.
>>96815316There were earlier hints, like Amazons and Chaos warbands in WFB sometimes getting 40k tech, but iirc, it was only hinted at.
Wasn't the majority of the Fantasy/40k crossover material from the 3rd and RT?
>>96817905>Wasn't the majority of the Fantasy/40k crossover material from the 3rd and RT?In terms of both rules and fluff, yes. A few of their books the Realm of Chaos ones and Siege could be used in both games.
was there ever a RT to 3rd edition leak outside of telegram? i have a cute dire avenger (stepping forward guy) planning on resculpting into other aspects on blender if not. don't have a smartphone for apps
>>96820231No because all of the stuff on cults gets instantly blasted by either GW or the scanner cartel It does happen but they're super short lived
>>96781974Anyone have a facebook and could dump the entirety of Original Oldhammer Artwork's media/posts to an archive? Would be a chore for sure, but adblock and selective html/jss blocking can only get me so deep.
>>96824242
This dude has handled so many sick pieces. Wil Rees full page from the back of Rogue Trader.
>>96824461woops
And the ultimate larp certificate, print this at roughly 8.5 inches tall and copperplate your name in. Insert into your copy of Rogue Trader and et voila, you now worked at GW during the Enfield Chambers/RT years. That was an entire afternoon of retouching, please enjoy.
>>96825491made it from this photo of Nicholas Coleman's (aka H) copy.
>>96825491amazing, fantastic job Anon.
>>96825491>>96825836Thanks!Did a test print, there were fuckups on the right and bottom as well as some non-colorized areas.Fixed now.
>>96825491Nice! An outstanding achievement in advanced tylenolism.
>>96828140No idea what that means, but given 4chan I'm probably disappointed and/or insulted. Thanks anyways.
>>96811949I've heard sole oldhammer-era (before 3ed 40k hit) hearsay that the double tailed comet symbol was actually supposed to represent a space marine drop pod landing on retro-rockets.Don't remember how it started, though. Could be some Citadel Journal or other magazine story with dubious relation to official canon?
