First for sisters
GW is gonna run out of new space marine models to make.
>non 40k East Asian artist I've been following for years suddenly does 40k art out of the blueHave we made it bros? Have we truly gone mainstream?
>>96801291Im hoping to finish 1 (one) squad. Im so fucking swamped with life.
>>96801307Whats the diff between Assault intercessors adn the guys at bottom?
>>96801311post link/artist name
>>96801322Better poses and wolf shit on the chestplates
I could use some feedback, I've narrowed my choices for Harlequin color scheme to two options. Harley Quinn Harlequins, or pink and blue Harlequins like this piece of non-40k Harlequin art I found while searching for inspiration. Whadayall think?
Hot take but most (not all, but most) Tau plot-armor claims just consist of overestimating the Imperium's capabilities to a large degree
>>96801311Not yet. When the 40k Cavillverse launches on Amazon Prime, all the Marvel, Game of Thrones, and The Boys bandwagoners will hop on and we will see the horrible glory becoming true mainstream media.
>>96801336I love the right but it really is the trans flag colors
>>96801323消化Oh wait no he did this a year ago and a few other I missed
>>96801344I hate that the lgbt flags are coopting all the color schemes.
>>96801311The only mainstream worth attracting.
>>96801344That's fine with me. I agree, it's a lovely color combination and it works with harlequin aesthetics so well. I'm leaning towards it, but I would have to find a good pink paint. GW pinks are pretty shitty
>>96801322Assault intercessors are the same model copy pasted in 5 different poses. The guys at the bottom actually look like different from one another
This is why most Dark Eldar are born in vats as adults
>>96801337I think it's also from people not realizing the Damocles Crusade is like 200 years old in-universe at this point.
>have two units of regular Terminators with the Assault Cannon and Flamer >a grey unprimed unit shows up at my LGS built with the rockets for 50 percent offIf I get this Battleforce I’m really gonna run 30 Terminators huh…..That’s not even including the characters.
Kin fans.Justify slaughtering defenseless diplomats.
>>96801318Rainbow warriors would be sick if they were like pic related. Each company is a different very bright colour. Space marines can be dark and gritty and childishly bright and colourful and everything in between. The culture warrior fags can fuck off and die rainbow warriors could be sick. And they can have an element of being a glownigger since they're named after a french spy blowing up a kiwiship and accidently killing someone
Tau are quite weak and could be crushed by the Imperium pretty easily. That used to be what was grimdark about the Tau, they’re a naive race that has no idea what they are dealing with. It changed because people thought it was too nice but they’re still far too small to ever be a threat to a genuine imperium assault.
>>96801413>Tau are quite weak and could be crushed by the Imperium pretty easily. Then why haven't they?>inb4 cope
>>96801413The grimdarkness of the Tau is that they are 'foul xenos' who are a rising powers and are too powerful to be wiped out anymore. They are meant to represent all the *many* xenos empires rising in the ashes of the Imperium to replace humanity in the galaxy. Thats why they're grimdark
>>96801413are the Votann in a similar boat?
Want some opinions. Toying with the idea of doing a Space Wolves army based on the Wild Hunt of myth. I have two options in my mind:A - Entire force is composed of ghosts (they will be painted like ghosts). I have a super quick and easy scheme in mind.B - One man in every squad is corporeal, alive, probably the sergeant. The rest of the force will be painted as ghosts as above. This will make it look like his ancestors are fighting alongside him or something like that. Maybe they're fighting with the fury of an entire squad, and the enemy is simply imagining the rest of the squad? Who knows....Anyways, I feel like A sells the "Wild Hunt" theme better (I could use dryad ghosts as scouts or something), more opportunities to incorporate fantasy elements. B comes across as a little less lazy and breaks up the force a bit which would be helpful for painting fatigue and gameplay.Thoughts?
>>96801429No. The Votann are extremely powerful. They are a DAoT human faction
>>96801413>Tau are quite weak and could be crushed by the Imperium pretty easilyNo it would take a serious amount of effort. They will eventually win but it would leave the other parts of the Imperium undefended and would get ravaged by the other factions willing to pounce on the oppurtunity14th Black Crusade is gonna reach Terra and its gonna be a fight between Chaos and Votann because Space Marines and Guard will be too busy dying to Tau Railguns
>>96801411disgusting
>>96801413No amount of cope will make the Damocles Crusade an Imperial victory
>>96801413>Tau are quite weak and could be crushed by the Imperium pretty easilyThey WERE quite weak and COULD'VE been crushed by the Imperium quite easily. Now they've grown into a threat too big for the Imperium to handle. That's the grimdarkness about the Tau. They represent that the Imperium is now too weak to handle minor xenos factions from rising up and claiming new empires in their territory. They show that the Imperium is in its twilight, it is a declining empire.
>>96801411they're called Rainbow Warriors because they paint rainbows(sort of) on their armor
>>96801435but like how many worlds and people do they actually have? How powerful is their tech? Necron Tier(Tyr)?
>>96801426That is not remotely what they were supposed to represent. They were supposed to represent the countless xeno empires out there that don’t comprehend the true nature of the galaxy. It’s effectively a joke about them being *wrong* genre savvy. They are in The Call of Cthulhu, not Star Trek>daemons are just weird aliens >what do you mean magic, it’s mind science >Nur’gle?>>96801422Because theyre a popular army. All jokes aside it’s because the imperium has way bigger issues. It doesn’t go out of its way to wipe out all xenos. It will do so as rogue traders and other imperium forces colonize a sector but that’s not quite the same thing.
>>96801429Frustratingly GW just handwaved that LoV have a whole bunch of competing empires in the center of the Galaxy. Areas that the Imperium haven't even fully mapped out yet
>>96801432But the WIld Hunt are elffags in heavy skeleton armour why did you post a bunch of randoms led by topless women riding horses through the air? Your could be cool, but the Wild Hunt is so centred around riding horses I'm not sure it can be translated into foot slogging space marines, without treading the ground of the legion of the damned
>>96801436This is nonsensical. The imperium would not critically weaken itself if it chose to wipe out the Tau. The Tau control almost no planets in imperial terms. People say this a lot but it’s innumerate. This is more true of the Imperium deciding to wipe out Comorragh or whatever
>>96801444Would be cool if their lore reason for rainbows was to honor the original covenant god made with man to not flood the earth again and they were huge bible thumpers.
>>96801458I still find it funny that the joke of "I use silver swords to kill elves" became a reality in Witcher 3
>>96801450>They were supposed to represent the countless xeno empires out there that don’t comprehend the true nature of the galaxy. Not anymor, GW is removing the Tau naivety
>>96801470That would make zero sense in lore.
Going to a warhammer store for the first time tomorrow. What do I buy?
>>96801480they fell out of the warp, no one knows where they came from. Boom problem solved.
>>96801470Nah gotta change it to Emperor worship. The Emperor creates the astonomicon which is a big light right. So they worship the Emperor so much they embody the whole spectrum of light the Emperor creates.
>>96801481Sometimes Hammers sometimes War, depends on how I feel that day.
>>96801490No, that still sucks. There's no way to make Christian Space Marines anything other than stupid.
>>96801481last time I did that I ended up with a sore ass and a real bad itch
What people don't understand about the Tau is that they are effectively 'playing tall'. The Imperium is very big, yes, but extremely underdeveloped relative to its size. The Tau, although their territory on the map is small, are extremely well-developed and dense in terms of both population density as well as infrastructure, factories, and of course technology. Not only do they know how to terraform planets to be habitable, but they also build continent-sized space stations functioning as massive habitats and connecting the gaps in their empire. Imagine the Imperium as a guy in Stellaris who conquered 80% of the galaxy, but now he has cripplingly massive empire size penalties, almost no research, and is heavily reliant on an increasingly rare supply of archaeo-tech weapons and and ancient relic resources to build them. And then the Tau are some guy with like 10 systems whose doing some Knights of the Toxic God max-research cosmogenesis cheese run and has built a habitat and ecumenopoli with orbital rings in all of his systems.
>>96801501I dont like furries. Post a different image
Do you use Woods or Pipes in your games of 10th edition 40k?
>>96801464>The Tau control almost no planets in imperial termsBut what they do control is way higher quality than anything the Imperium has. If you have 1,000 planets but each of your planets is worth 50 of the Imperium's then that's a lot harder to conquer than you would initially assume.
>>96801494a Second Founding Ultramarines successor that worships the Emperor is a little odd. Not impossible, but I think they would need to come up with a justification for it
>>96801478Yeah and it was dumb. Now their depiction is all over the place. Sometimes the ethereals force people to kill themselves over nothing. Then in Elemental Council someone says oh we don’t do that any more ha ha. They don’t know what to do with the TauThe naivety was pretty compelling to me as a fluff hook. There is this one incident where the Tau encounter the Death Guard that is pretty epic because it’s like a traditional science fiction faction encountering Chaos
>>96801501You repeat this nonsense in every thread but it’s just as retarded every time. The imperium has an unimaginably massive population and resources at its command. If anything the imperium is like the space USSR or whatever, it can throw infinite men and materiel at a problem. Imperial worlds are not low population>>96801501
>>96801511Gonna star using woods, specifically palm trees. I gotta buy a yellow sand colored mat to match them, maybe with an oasis on it.
If you want to claim Necrons or Tyranids can win then okay but do we really have to listen to delusional Tau weebs that think they aren’t just another doomed xenos race
>>96801511L shaped ruins exclusively
>>96801526The Tau are the most inconsequential faction to the settings story as far as I can tell.
>>96801526Explain why the damocles crusade failed then
>>96801458I figure it's close enough. But even if not, then maybe option B would be a bit better? Could go for a "last of their kind" thing. Maybe it's where the Imperium is about to be snuffed out and they're the last Wolves
>>96801518Fair enough, I do agree anon. Either they're unaware of the scale of the Imperium and the nature of the world or they're not. The etherals mind control angle has always been lame as fuck
>>96801549It was the writers giving Tau players something to cling to, they had nothing before it.
>>96801526>The imperium has an unimaginably massive population and resources at its commandTotal, yes. But relative to its size, it is quite poor. Many of their worlds are feudal worlds, feral worlds, and death worlds, producing little of value, and most of their worlds are civilized worlds, only producing moderate value but not much compared to what they should be. Even their hive worlds are inefficient and they only have tens of thousands of those. Their forge worlds are kind of okay but they're listed as being in the mere hundreds.Fundamentally the Imperium is a million worlds running on 1% efficiency, whereas the Tau are 1,000 worlds running at 100% efficiency.
>>96801555>Could go for a "last of their kind" thing. Maybe it's where the Imperium is about to be snuffed out and they're the last WolvesThat's a cool idea, space marines from the future where the Imperium is even more fucked or just dead is pretty unexplored
>>96801556It's funny because how sinister the Tau shifts back and forth. Like Vespids being mind controlled by their communication devices used to be heavily implied but then years later we get the kill team and those heavy implications are gone Or how ethereal suicide commands went from a secret thing to more of publicly acknowledged seppuku
>>96801567Power scaling within events is usually just whatever the author wants for their story it’s all over the place. I don’t mind that too much, but logically, the Tau are turbo fucked. >bad ftl>no truly strong psykers other than potentially humans they’ve conquered and a lot of those are going to open to portals to hell, which the Tau have no context for, similar to humanity during the age of strife>so small that every lost world matters to the Tau
>>96801574So is it your serious opinion that based on all relevant past and current feats described for both Factions that the Tau would defeat the Imperium? Is that your honest assessment?
>>96801567You're right because the Damocles Crusade failing is literally in the first Tau codex.
>>96801584> Like Vespids being mind controlled by their communication devices used to be heavily implied but then years later we get the kill team and those heavy implications are goneWhat do you mean, the mind control was made clear canon with the new vespids. But its just the squad leaders with the head covered mask that are mind controlled. The rest of the team just follow the leader since they're quite animalistic and not truely sentient
your models post them
>>96801574Most imperial worlds are canonically civilized worlds with populations in the billions. The sort of places you see in the Cain novels. Feral worlds and death worlds are uncommon but are kind of important to the imperium because they are considered good places to recruit space marine aspirants or guard regiments.
>>96801598That depends. What kind of war are we describing? Is the Imperium going on an all out invasion against the Tau? Then yes, they would lose, they don't have the resources or the manpower for that kind of endeavor. Is the Tau going on an all out invasion of the Imperium? Then they would also lose, the Tau don't have the resources or the manpower to occupy that much land and their supply lines would spread thing.
>>96801620Welcome to Fenris, enjoy your stay.
is there any canon depiction of tau women besides shadowsun ? i thought the men and women were supposed to look the same.....
>>96801624>Most imperial worlds are canonically civilized worlds with populations in the billionsWhich isn't very good. They should be ecumenopoli with populations in the trillions. But because the Imperium fundamentally doesn't have the technology to know how to maintain or create ecumenopoli anymore, they're stuck with civilized worlds and hive worlds instead.
>>96801620looks amazing anon ! pic is my noobie blackstar in ultramarine colours
Death Worlds produce a lot the best imperial soldiers, Catachan is the best example. Catachan humans are a bit like sayians but obviously far weaker. They’re stronger, tougher, and smarter than other humans. Basically an entire race of Rambos. This is probably the sort of reason the imperium bothers with death worlds and feudal worlds at all. There’s a real sense in which people from that kind of planet are better suited to deal with something like Chaos
>>96801627So everything you have read about the Imperium, the feats that they have achieved, the still living demigods that they employ and their insanely strong psykers. The fact that they are keeping the nids and necrons at bay alone all of that you say pfftt to, but a single victory against one crusade is enough for you to say yep they can win the whole setting? What?
>>96801307Not really. Blood Angels termies, death company, furioso. Grey knights refresh. DA ravenwing bikers and gravbikers, Generic astartes upgrade kit for outriders. Vanguard vets. New intercessor/tactical marines. Breacher unit of heavy intercessors with shields.CSM upgrade sprues for alpha legion and iron warriors, Huron, bikers, obliterators, WE termies, WE dread, WE apothecary, WE jugger riders, DG ranged termies like the HH unit. A DQ character on palanquin.Termies for EC and a 2nd termie or power armour unit for TS.
>>96801638>They should be ecumenopoli with populations in the trillionsThat might be pretty bad since an ecumenopolis takes unimaginable amounts of supplies to keep alive. All the food must be imported daily as does water since there's no oceans anymore (where the fucking water they use daily goes is anyones guess. Must be some flooded ancient sewers somewhere.
>>96801638That wouldn’t be a good way to build, it doesn’t make sense most of the time. Most DAOT planets were not like that either. Either way though, 1000 planets might as well be 0. The imperium has been adding hundreds of planets year for ten thousand years according to lore.
>>96801646Yay, highlightong
>>96801603The sense I got was that that the grunt vespids are mind controlled by the squad leader vespid who isn't mind controlled by anyone. But that's because they're bees, the worker drones are essentially mindless
>>96801628gorgeous army anon
>>96801657There's a finite number of bullets needed to kill God. That's the philosophy that embodies the Tau.
/40kg/ what are your hopes and fears for 11th ed? Realistically what are we most likely to actually get outside of your wishful thinking?
>>96801657The Imperium are not keeping the tyranids and necrons at bay alone lol. The necrons are mostly keeping themselves at bay
>>96801674and then Neo shows up and the bullets don't work anymore. Their philosophy is as valuable as my education and I'm a retard.
>>96801450>Because theyre a popular army. All jokes aside it’s because the imperium has way bigger issues. It doesn’t go out of its way to wipe out all xenos. It will do so as rogue traders and other imperium forces colonize a sector but that’s not quite the same thing.Doing because it's meta is a bitchmove. The Deathwatch has dozens of wiped-out Xenos empires. So you excuse doesn't fly
>>96801686I mean you can chant and laud the badassery of a space marine all you want. A railgun will still rip their head off.
>>96801683They have defeated multiple hive fleets that were eating countless xenos civilizations. Although some fluff hints that the astronomicon is what lets the Tyranids find the galaxy so it’s a bit of column A and a bit of Column B
Imperiumfags whining about losing to the Tau are so sensitive; you never see nidfags complaining about the Tau somehow managing to adapt as fast as they do, or Necronfags complaining about losing to the fucking Kroot
>>96801688They weren’t in a full scale war with the Tau. A Tau fleet just encountered a group of them, it’s a cool short story but I can’t remember the name of it.
>>96801574Let's take the silly 1% number at face value. 1% of one million is ten thousand100% of one thousand is one thousandEven with that silly reach of a 1% productivity figure, which is nonsense, the imperium would still clap the shit out of the Tau by devoting serious attention to it.
>>96801501Not to mention that the Tau basically mass produce all of their best stuff while the Imperium doesn't. Battlesuits are stronger than Space Marines and there's probably billions of them compared to mere millions of Space Marines.
>>96801704>the imperium would still clap the shit out of the Tau by devoting serious attention to it.With what? They only have a million Space Marines total. Even if they were to use all of them against the Tau it wouldn't be enough.
>>96801680>HopesExodites>FearsHarlequins get squatted>Realistically what are we most likely to actually geta Kroot style partial army release for Exodites that gives you a lot of awesome models but still leaves you struggling to make 2,000 points of them work on the table
>>96801708What do the Tau do when an Elder demon freezes time and starts devouring their souls? This is an honest question from a newfag, how do they manage against the Warp/Psykers?
>>96801717Most of the imperium’s forces are guard, navy, etc. they don’t actually use space marines for much. It can be easy to forget that because they are the poster boys for 40k but the average imperium battle doesn’t involve them at all
>>96801680want? thousand sons second waverealistically? idk probably a grey knights refresh at best
>>96801730They are literally just the Navy Seals of the Military how do people not get this?
>>96801717Space marines aren't frontline soldiers, they're specialists. The imperium could drown the Tau in guardsmen, tanks, artillery and orbital bombardments. They don't because deleting a popular faction is stupid, and the forces required to do so are fighting factions that actually threaten the imperium.
>>96801696They really only beat Behemoth by themselves, Kraken was a joint effort with the Eldar and Leviathan hasn't been beaten yet
>>96801726>how do they manage against the Warp/Psykers?Depending on the situation they can either pull out their nicassar or they can just shoot them. Pyskers aren't immune to bullets, if they were Grey Knights would be the only thing the Imperium ever uses. As it stands Grey Knights are reserved for daemons because against material forces they're just somewhat above average space marines but hardly invinicible.
>>96801497>There's no way to make Christian Space Marines anything other than stupid.I don't disagree but...
>>96801730>Most of the imperium’s forces are guard, navy, etc.None of which fair well against a military force like the Tau. Napoleonic tactics are...not very good against a long range missile.
>>96801756based
>>96801737To be fair, when you gather space marine chapters together it expands their capabilities in an exponential rather than linear fashion. The legions from the heresy are examples of it. The issue with it is that the risk of a united legion falling to Chaos is too great, which is why Guilliman created the current chapter system
>>96801726There was a Tau vs Thousand Sons codex blurb that had them reverse engineer a Chaos scepter to create warp pulse rifles
>>96801762now that is interesting, showing that they are so powerful the risk of the teaming up and falling to Choas is too risky. I dunno where these Tau kids get their confidence but I do respect it.
>>96801406It's on my home PC but I literally have a screenshot of White Scars committing Perfidy against Tau diplomats
>>96801717the numbers are stupid and make no sense. if a chapter is really only 1000 units, then how do they get anything done when there are enemies in the billions>>96801737well they are called marines and not seals, and they act more like autonomous military units of knights, each with their own cultures and are more i guess being more like seals makes more sense considering we only have a few hundred active navy seals as opposed to having nearly 200k marines maybe marines should have more guards incorporated into their army as options for chaff or doing the work that limited amount of marines shouldn't do
Reminder that the recent Tau novel says they're planning to expand into Ultramar next. The blueberry showdown approaches
>>96801751Psykers can in fact be immune to bullets. That’s part of the issue with psykers, they can do magic that warps reality. Trying to shoot a truly powerful psyker is a jokeI realize you’re just baiting but the Tau don’t have experience with truly threatening psykers like alpha plus. Their population of humans is low so the odds haven’t favored one appearing, but they are *really* dangerous even if you have anti-psyker units like blanks. A single alpha plus psyker can destroy an entire planet, summon a bunch of greater daemons, twist the laws of physics. Also they’re almost all insane. That’s why the imperium has a short on sight policy for psykers beyond beta plus
>>96801783>then how do they get anything done when there are enemies in the billionsThey've got serfs to do all of that.
>>96801783>if a chapter is really only 1000 units, then how do they get anything done when there are enemies in the billionsThat is precisely why the Imperium is dying. Their only competent military force is incredibly rare.
>>96801789pffft, you know GW are gonna have our Boy Guilly lay down the law. They love that boy, he's their Golden Goose. Sorry Tau the pain train is comin and its got a power fist on the front of it.
>>96801657>The fact that they are keeping the nids and necrons at bay aloneEveryone in the setting is more or less doing this
>>96801620WIP I finally started in last week while remote. Going to count him as an Obliterator for 40k when he's done.
>>96801793The Tau have psykers. They've had them since the beginning of their empire with the Nicassar.
>>96801812The niqqas? Wtf?
>>96801805Where is the flesh, he’s not even on the right base too.
>>96801812Weak psykers, that’s my point. The difference between weak psykers and powerful psykers is vast. The emperor was “just” a psyker in 30k. It turns out that magic is op, who knew!
>>96801812The recent shadowsun novel with the Tauva stuff was something but the best part was the Nicassar not even using psychic powers to maul a Death Guard, she just manhandled him with her bear hands
>>96801822>Weak psykersEldar are weak psykers?
Ironically the tau baitfag might be the imperium baitfag from a few threads ago
>>96801822Yea no one even mentions the Emperor who is on the cusp of reincarnation, the fact that Tzeentch was greatly intrigued by his power and didn't know who he was screams volumes.
>>96801758Sure, until they run out of missiles, and another few million tanks are dropshipped in. With millions and millions more across the imperium. But why bother taking that attrition? Tau expansion was slow without good FTL and there are bigger problems. Eventually the Tau could become one of those big problems, but they aren't in current lore.>>96801783Marines don't generally sit in trench lines. They concentrate and strike in a small area of the front where they can do the most good, overwhelm it, then let the guard hold what they took. Or they hit behind the lines at commanders etc.
>>96801680>hopesDrukhari refresh with new models + grotesques back. Demons of chaos getting a codex>fears Drukhari get nothing and harlequins get squatted. More Marineslop while ignoring every faction>realistically Some new combat patrols/refresh for blood angels/fists/greys
>>96801721>pic related God why is this COCKSUCKER'S ART SO HARD TO FIND
>>96801828Eldar have to constrain their powers a lot because of Slaanesh. The Dark Eldar don’t use psyker powers at all. The one true rule in Comorragh is no space magic. There’s also no reason to think the Tau really understand the Eldar’s abilities and history since Eldar wouldn’t volunteer that info
>>96801837>ntil they run out of missiles, and another few million tanks are dropshipped inThe Tau can build missiles faster than the Imperium can build tanks. It's the nature of their empire that they're much more heavily industrialized than the Imperium is.
>>96801831I'll take bait if it's actually on topic, that's fine by me.
>>96801831I find this discussion intriguing and stimulating, I know its been rehashed over and over but it is an ongoing discussion that changes over time with lore.
>>96801805>imperial chest symbol>wrong base size
>>96801846Sure...but I'd hardly call the Eldar a psychically weak race. They have some pretty fucking powerful psykers.
The answer to any questions of Tau weakness against other factions is that the Kroot are overpowered and hit way above their weight class somehow.
>>96801860The Eldar aren’t part of the Tau empire Anyway given that the Tau freaked out and became genocidal over even a small amount of humans making the Greater Good into a god I can’t imagine they’ll deal with the psychic awakening all that well
>>96801860I find the Eldar are on the downtrend but I still view them as vastly superior to the Tau in terms of strength.
>>96801847Nope. 1% of one million is ten times higher than 100% of one thousand.
>>96801873It was one expansion sphere, they were chastised and the leaders seppuku'd. Based on Shadowsun's novel, they'll handle it better from now on
>>96801873>The Eldar aren’t part of the Tau empireCorrect. The Nicassar are. And you're calling them weak psykers based on...what information?
By joining the Tau, gue'vesa unlock the racial passive normally reserved for xenos, that they don't have to worry about Chaos corruption for their psykers anymore.
>>96801877Not if you have 1,000 times as much territory to defend.
the only reason the tau even still exist as a race is because no one takes them seriously enough to dedicate the time and resources to wipe them out. if they grabbed the full attention of any of the other factions especially chaos they would be gone in less than a thousand years and im being generous
>>96801817>>96801856They're on 50mm just like Oblits.Lorewise they're Phraetus Annointed, the suits are Daemon-powered and the bodies inside are more of less dead and being puppeted by the time the Warband reached 40k.And I'm not buying the Venomcrawler for two diaper-Oblits when I can get four Saturnine for the same price.
>>96801893And why would they have to defend that much territory from the measly Tau?
>>96801636The Mc of Exodite is a fem Tau
>>96801897OK but the Damocles Crusade was ordered by the High Lords themselves and the Administratum prepared it for almost a century, roping several space marine chapters in too. You can't not call that a serious effort, even if it's not their full attention
>>96801897This has always been Imperium cope. If the Imperium isn't taking the Tau seriously, why are they using up irreplaceable archaeotech weapons, entire Titan legions, and thousands of Space Marines fighting them?

>>96801897This x1000 and I do not dislike the Tau, I find them to be the socialist asians of the setting which is a legitimate framing of real parts of our current world.
>>96801897Fem Fulgrim is canonically the traitor primarch most likely to be saved by the cock+handholding right
>>96801893Okay yes, so it's absolutely doable for the imperium, they just choose not to as stomping on the Tau would divert too much attention and resources from serious threats. We agree then. Also the Tau will absolutely become one of those serious threats one day as the imperium is too short-sighted to nip it in the bud. But that's a thousand years or so away unless the Tau collapse from warp fuckery in the meantime or something like that.
>>96801887They aren't human psykers, which is a valid assessment because the setting's shitty writing firmly establishes no one is really better than the imperium at anything
>>96801912>all it took to make a good tau novel was have an Asian guy write itpretty funny
>>96801912The Tau are really more fascist than socialist desu.
>>96801912This is bait
>>96801918I'd give it 200 years desu. Every time the Tau expand they always seem to triple in size, their growth is very much quadratic rather than linear.
Keep in mind that truly potent psykers are basically non-existent. Yes there are a lot in the imperium but that is because their population is so large that they roll the dice a lot. Most psychic races have some level of baseline strength but it’s low in all cases except for the Eldar, who are bioweapons. The Nicassar are like that they only really have telekinesis. Humans are weird because most of them are not psykers but humans are also capable of creating psykers that break the scale and become toon force in real space.Although the Psychic Awakening has changed things to some degree. Huge numbers of humans close to the eye of terror are becoming psykers. That more than anything is the thing that’s really fucking the galaxy over right now. People just gloss over the Age of Strife being mostly cussed by psykers not the Men of Iron

>Imperial guys in this thread misunderstanding the lore and coping about the Tau againThe Imperium cannot be wipe out the Tau because the Tau are too powerful and entrenched. It's not because the Imperium has better things to do. The Imperium in fact has sent more forces againt the Tau than they ever did against the Necrons pre-Pariah Nexus. Now with the Great Rift being a thing, the Imperium lacks any credibility when it comes to being a threat to the Tau.
>>96801905No, but they do have to defend it regardless. It's a Mutually Assured Destruction situation. They could take out the Tau, but they'd doom themselves to destruction in the process by everyone else invading them.
I wouldn't mind if Obliterators and Mutilators got retconned into being corrupted Saturine chaos termies
Tau are pretty warlike and honourbound, if you don't comply to their "requests" they will invade. They do shit like honor duels and trial by combat all the time, in Liber Xenology they turned a planet owned by Berserker dog people into a Gaza. They are more like Klingons and Mandalorians than peaceniksIt's just that when your competition are Waaaggghhh and incoherent Khorne babbling you come off as chill

>>96802055Yes this. It’s pointless to debate power scaling events too hard because it’s all over the place. I’d say the only true powers on the galaxy are the Imperium, Tyranids, Necrons, and Chaos. >>96802093No. It's a bad argument. GW wrote the reasons why the Imperium cannot wipe the Tau in the fluff and it's not your fan fiction.

>>96802165It's not. GW wrote reasons why the Tau are too powerful for the Imperium to destroy, compared to hundreds of alien civilizations that they did wipe out.Rather than accept them and move on you cope and seethe and then go all meta on us.
>>96802157>They exist and they explain why the Imperium is unable to wipe out the TauBut like, they don't. The imperium has wiped out xenos empire just as if not more powerful than the tau, they've killed multitudes of godlike entities, diverted numerous resources to petty bullshit squabbles, and have a cornucopia of various super dudes at their disposal
>>96802173Again, it's a matter of your opinion. Your misinformed opinion. The technology of the Imperium is ahead of the Tau is rare. The Tau live in a hypercluster of stars where systems are tightly packed. Their STL drives can cross the distance between systems in months. >>96802230>The Tau have not proven themselves to be at the same level as the Imperium/Necrons/EldarGrouping the Imperium in the same group as the Necrons and Eldar is laughable, the Imperium is way below those two.
>>96802250In other words, you are a tourist who just interacts with 40K through memes. While I am citing sources.
>>96801539I wouldn't say they're doomed. They don't have to destroy the Imperium to win, they just have to not be destroyed with the current trajectory the Imperium is on. And it's doubtful with the state of the galaxy and its current players, they'll ever reach the same height as either the Imperium or the Eldar. But they are not as hopeless as some people say.
>>96802212>The Tau are in their Golden Age phase.Tau are currently undergoing a three-way schism between Anti-Ethereal Separatists (Farsight), Pro-Religion Progressives (Shadowsun), and Anti-Religion Pro-Ethereal Fundamentalists (Kais and Aun'va)The T'au Empire is on the verge of collapse less then 5,000 yeard from their emergence as a power.
>>96802260>>96801539Phil Kelly said on the official GW podcast that the Tau will ascend and take over the galaxy if given enough time. Also, they will invent solutions to Chaos and perhaps even the Tyranids
>>96801737Because they're the poster boys of the setting, the game is a war game, they use tanks and other heavy armor. And a big chunky dude in armor tends to not suggest surgical strikes.

>>96802252The Imperium is the largest Empire in galactic history and is currently wiping ouy every xenos threat they come across, including the Eldar and Necrons.
>>96802251I use "your" instead of "you're" in every instance because we here on 40kg have evolved beyond basic grammar conservatism and into a more liberal use of our language. We value efficiency over some aspects of grammar law because everyone here is beyond reddit speak.
The reason for the big divide usually just comes down to the fact that, unless you're a Tau player, you're probably not up to date with what's going on with the Tau, so people tend to associate the Tau with the same Empire that we saw in the Damocles Crusade that had like 20 planets and no big mechs and no dedicated warfleet.
>>96802267You discredited yourself with your fanfiction. Aun'Va, when he is alive and as a digital ghost, was okay with religion. The Council of the Highest, in which he is the leading member, has sanctioned projecting to develop the Tau's own faith powers. There is no current lore of any schism within the Tau. The Farsight Enclaves and the Tau Empire are not interested in civil war. They steer clear of each other.
>>96802282>and is currently wiping ouy every xenos threat they come acrossSounds like the Tau must be stronger than the Necrons and Eldar then since the Imperium isn't managing to wipe them out at all.
>>96802302So you think the Tau are on par with the Necrons/Eldar? Seriously?
>>96802308You said it, not me.
>>96802292>the Tau with the same Empire that we saw in the Damocles Crusade that had like 20 planets and no big mechs and no dedicated warfleet.75 planets spreading over nearly 20 systems/septs. And they did have a fleet. The Merchant Fleet. That was their size in 3rd edition. If you are a Tau player, you should be ashamed.
>>96802308The T'au are on par with a number of Necron dynasties. Some dynasties were destroyed by less than what the Tau endured from the Imperium.
>>96801783I've heard the numbers thing doesn't apply to pilots or tank drivers. It also probably doesn't count chapter serfs or other non-military personnel.Plus guard regiments are frequently deployed in conjunction.
>>96802314That's my point though. Most players remember 20 planets, not 20 septs. And they don't even know about the 3rd Sphere Expansion, let alone the development of the Kororvesh. Hell, your average Imperium player doesn't even know the Stormsurge exists.
>>96802244you can get the exact piece but you'll have to pay for a bunch of misc tank bits

>>96802380It has very much not been neutralized.
In terms of overall power, with imperium being 100 (but incredibly diffused and usually unable to quickly concentrate enough power without tradeoffs.)Nids entire species 40,000 and rising rapidly (hence the title) but each Hive Fleet (which is but a splinter) is maybe like a 40Orks: fluctuate from miniscule threat to 20-40. Lots and lots of upside and concentrated power but huge vulnerability because it'll depend on a single, killable leader.Necrons 15 and rising : a lot of the same problems as orks in terms of concentration and infighting and Tyranids in terms of lack of full dynastic power.Chaos 666 and rising but imperium most black crusades are like a 25 lots of power, even more stupid infighting that is arguably more insurmountable than orc bullshit.Eldar 2 and falling from super max.Drukhari 3 (commoragh effectively invulnerable but pose minimal threat) mostly nuisance tier because they can't unite to do anything. More bodies than eldar so mostly tread waterTau 10 and risingVotann 5 and falling idk enough about these dudes
Do you think GW would ever pull a stunner like having the Necrons outta nowhere pull out the Galaxy destroyer and just delete the Tau? It seems absurd but it would add a nice element of surprise to the lore.
>>96802420Yeah that's something that doesn't get touched on enough I think. Everybody is fucking infighting. The Tau have the least infighting and the Orks have the most, with the Imperium and Necrons somewhere in the middle.
There are many GREAT things about the Imperium, and despite what some people may claim, even some who have allegedly had a hand in its lore, the Imperium in 40k is no cautionary tale. Things that plague the modern leftist societies, such as sexism, racism, and homophobia, are non-issues in the Imperium. Technological advancement is at the forefront. Rather than individualistic hedonism *coughs and looks at Aeldari jews* the Imperium strives towards racial and mental purity, with its eye on the WHOLE. Sure, maybe life sucks for those at the bottom, but if its the life they earned and its all they know and their ancestors have known for so long, it's probably not all that bad. A society that cares what the dregs think is a WEAK and DEGENERATE society. The MILITARISM and IRON WILL of the Imperium literally oozes from its being, and it faces down any xenos degenerates and chaos subhumans who challenge it, no matter who or what they are. Honor, courage, and devotion are rewarded, and the society follows a strict hierarchy.So... dare I say it...The Imperium is no cautionary tale of what to avoid, but largely a tale of something to STRIVE FOR!

WTF was GW smoking when they designed the sprues for the Ballistus dread vs the Brutalis dread? I already have 2 Ballistus dreads in my BA army but got the Brutalis model to make my DC dread and holy fuck the sprues are night and day. Ballistus had like 30 pieces that all snapped together. Brutalis has 100+ and requires half a bottle of glue. They’re both similar models besides the weapon loadouts, why do they need to be so fucking different? Fuck, the Brutalis even has one foot that’s entirely assembled and another you need to build. The fuck is the point of that? Also, I absolutely despise when they make you glue parts that are supposed to move around another part.Pic related kinda, my Bastillus. I’m still new to painting. These aren’t completely finished yet, but I was trying out some contrasts and shades.

>>96802719It does. Their mental magic is more like oil, it just smoothes things out. An Ork gun on a humans hands has bullets too big and parts too loose but that's where their mind magic helps out. >>96802703Are the dreadnought torsos compatible? Like can you swap the brutalis torso with the ballistus for a bit more pose variety. I dont know how monopose the brutalis or redemptor are. I've only built the balldreadAlso to answer your question, it's because starter set kits are simplistic monopose models, and some are just repacked into separate kits. The ballistus is one such kit and because they only gave it a single weapon loadout there was no such need to give it a full kit. Also, it's not a bad thing for a kit to have options. The real shitshow is that the kit is absurdly priced for how simplistic it is.

>>96802931It's more like they heard about giant bugs digging into hive blocks from underneath and shredding everything inside and went hmmm we could make a robot that does that. Similar to how we looked at birds and then spent thousands of years jumping off cliffs with palm fronds before we came up with planes. As far as I know the ambots are expensive because they're mining equipment, so they need to be doing something that makes them more credits than mining for it to be worth bringing them out
>>96802896Not a captain but a squad of fire warriors can certainly take down a single Space Marine and there's a hell of a lot more Fire Warriors than there are Space Marines.

And to boot there is some evidence in this mixed media with LoL that girls overwhelmingly prefer to play as girls while boys pick both. Unsure how much that holds up when it comes to /tg/ stuff, its a different set of media to begin withAnother case to be made is just more women have been recently interested in boy or mixed gender media and I think this is less applicable to boys showing interest in typically girl media, at least the type of media thats social interaction-based, because men presenting more femme has also been on the upsurge. And so there is less social uproar about boys doing feminine stuff because a chunk of it is performed more solitary and thus less socially "visible"

>>96801803No one is really keeping Necrons at bay. The last Dawn of Fire novel revealed that they can destroy everyone wherever they wish. They just don't want to because they need test subjects and again it may require a lot of souls to ascend so they need everyone alive.

>>96804064The worst quality of the Black Library reader is to take ever bit of wank and integrate it with suredness of fact. Really put on your thinking cap for a second, if all they need is test subjects why can't they just keep Truman Show style colonies under their thumb after eliminating the irritation, if it were so easy? The answer is because the point of the setting is to sell toys. The tyranids can make acids and diseases so aggressive and virulent, according to fiction that means to portray them powerfully, that they can eat through power armor and choke plague marines to death. They could semply send assassin fleets of acid gaunt bombs to every tomb world. So my super laser beats your laser shield and it is me who could destroy you at a whim (I choose not to because I am savoring the flavor of my lunch).
