While the Chaos Dwarf redesigns were ill-advised at best, I think these optional builds are pretty neat. Anyone get them yet?
Now that the dust has settled, how much do you love your Helsmiths of Hashut?Personally, i love them. My favorite miniatures are the Dominator Engine, the Bull Centaurs and Ashen Elder; and i cant wait to see the Lamassu next wave.
>>96820828I'm never buying anything Chaos on principle, but the new lore is great
>>96820828Very bad, very Warcraft-derivative.
>>96820828At the start i was like "meh", but in the end i really like them. My favorites are the Vandalz (i know, shitty hobgrots, but they are my boyz haha)
>>96820828>>96820862I don't necessarily see this as a "bad" thing per se, but the angular designs take a bit of getting used to. I'm surprised they went for putting them in AoS when ToW is right there, but I suppose they needed to round out the dorfs in the setting.Having said that, a new army is always welcome and they're not as bad as people say they are. I think the official paintjob is substandard, however.I like this guy. Might pick him up if I can find it cheap, I love designing little dioramas.
>>96820884I think the more geometric and "even" designs help stand it out from other chaos faction which have more spiky or flowing design elements.
>>96820828They've grown on me a lot, wasn't too happy with them at first. I think their lore is pretty fun and interesting, and I think seeing people's alternate schemes did a lot for them. Speaking of, when are their other kits dropping? I wanna see people paint up some things that aren't the despot/bull mech/arty/cohort
>>96820756Har Kuron
Did anyone else grab Spitewood? I'm loving the models and lore in it so far and can't wait to get this lot primed once the weather improves.
>>96821046No, on account of 100% of the miniatures looking like dogwater.
>>96821046Not yet, still have 6 WU warbands to paint. After I finish them I will probably pick it.(I want to see the new warbands that will come for spitewood. Hopefully they do some cool Orruks and Death bands )
>>96821073I really hope we get an undead warband of some sort since 2nd ed doesn't have a new one and the only undead you can currently get a updated existing ones.I adore the Grandfathers Gardeners so I hope we get more daemon warbands, plus maybe a new group of Fyreslayers. The Spitewood is obviously a prime setting for a new Sylvaneth warband as well.
>>96821046Headswap on the banner w*man makes the model infinitely better.
Reminder that every Chaos army save BoK should have both a spell lore and a prayer lore, as should most other armies in the game.
>>96820828I’m not really a fan. I don’t hate them overall but I think they have a lot of weird design choices that make them jarring. I won’t hate seeing them or anything but i am not interested in them at all.
>>96821078>I hope we get more daemon warbandsStill wondering why the fuck they went for whatever the fuck the khorne teeth guys are instead of khorne demons.
>>96821098unpopular opinion:khorne should have a spell lore too
>>96821046I'm thinking of getting it because the it might be fun to play. Problem is that, the game itself aside, a lot of the presentation doesn't tickle my fancy. I miss illustrated cards, I'm underwhelmed by Spitewood as a setting, the boards look rather dull, and although the Kurnothi models are well sculpted I really have no interest in a second Kurnothi warband. So although the ruleset might be fun and the HoH models look cool, I'm not sure this is for me.
>>96821046I'm still painting those 4 packs of old warbands
>>96821123Which box(es) did you get?
>>96821129I've been stuck on Brutes and Bandits for a while, might finally get something more done soon
Is Moot green the same as the old goblin green? I wanted a colour for my gobbos and the jamoke in the store said Warpstone Glow was the same
>>96821157Not even close. Moot green has a good hint of yellow in it while goblin green is this fairly bright olive green. I think warboss green is the closest one in GWs current range.
Saw some people talking about this last thread, but it looks like we'll have a preview around 6/7 november at the grand narrative event in atlanta. Idk how these usually work but they do seem to advertise a preview show.
>>96821183I remember goblin green as quite yellowish. Ok, thanks anon. Do you know of any contrast paints for gobbo / orc skin? The ones I've seen are just almost psychedelic
>>96820773>>96820756I need more Big Yellers lore to drop. How advanced are they, who leads them, what about that Cogfort?
>>96821253Just to put it in perspective. I don't use contrasts/speedpaints so I can't help you here, sorry.
>>96821279>what about that CogfortWait it was them specifically who have a Cog? I thought it was just an unamed group
>>96821253>contrast paints for gobbo / orc skinI use Gutrippa Flesh for the cloth of my Lothlorien Wood Elves and yeah, I think it'd make a great ork skin tone.
>>96821305MESBG deserves more love.
>>96821301I think it was them but it might be a general thing that they like to steal. It fits well with that automated shooting range
>>96821328I heard the game itself is actually really good, though I've never heard of anyone actually playing it in my vicinity. Lord of the rings isn't really the cultural juggernaut is was in the 2000's anymore.
>>96821387>Lord of the rings isn't really the cultural juggernaut is was in the 2000's anymore.>I'm a ZoomZoom and can only play whatever the "in" thing is or else I won't be coolOK retard,
Imagine if we got a second piece of Darkwater news in one week. Everyone would be like, "That's fake news. Their front page was hacked. There's no way they'd post a second piece of Darkwater news in one week."
>>96821422And then everyone would clap
>>96820862That doesn't look anything like HoH? I know people use the WoW == bad thing often but you're just an idiot
>>96820862There's nothing in AoS that looks anything like this art lmfao wtf are you on about?
>>96821422ngl I don't want the news, it's stupid af to show off one monopose hero
>>96821387Legitimately, the Big Blue Book for LotRSBG is The best wargames 28mm ruleset GW put out.
- Helsmiths bombed- AoS 4th edition is dying- Spearhead will die too- AoS has no lore and no soul- only queers and losers play AoS. The queers can be forgiven for congregating in the AoS ghetto, due to their inherent statelessness. Hello, I heard there would be Warcry rules for the evil midgets?
>>96821510no, no, you heard wrong, gw said the would be cries for rules, you evil midgets
They should just have put kruleboyz in GSG and gitmob with ironjawz, its still shit but at least they keep some visual and thematic coherence.
>>96821531it wouldn't be more thematically coherent.the only fix is souping them all together once again or keeping them all separate.
>>96821510They said the Helsmiths and all the new Underworlds warbands would be getting WarCry stats at some point but I wouldn't expect it soon. It's clear WarCry isn't a priority right now so I'd expect it to still be a few weeks before they release any stats.
>>96821540Ironjawz are migratory. Gitmob are migratory. Both are Ghur badlands themed. Both represent the default species origin in WHF. I don't think KB fit with GSG, though, but they should also have Fellwaters. Spiderfang obviously belong with Bonesplitterz.
>>96821080Indeed it does. No way I was keeping that shitty head when I had leftover HoH helmets
>>96821540>it wouldn't be more thematically coherent>sneaky swamp orks with troggoths + sneaky cave goblins with troggoths> savage orcs + savage wolf ridersBetter than the current shit we have
>>96821548Kb not having fellwaters is kinda crazy now that you mention it
>>96821566it's an old kit, krules are a new rangegw is autistic about thathonestly gits are good with just the stone trolls, if anything the river trolls should be handed to the old world where there's the troll hag, and then kruleboys should get a new kit of river trolls cavalry

>>96821566If allies remained you could run 600pts of them... RIPWe should have a Monsters of Destruction category with various free to use anywhere units like Warcry has or the FW monsters in 1e.
Has anyone tried salvaging their sacrosancts (Soul Wars)? I want to turn the evocators into prosecutors so I at least can play Spearhead
Its insane that GW makes their best minis impossible to buy, there are so many damn cool characters in the Commemorative Series
>>96821633get recasts
>>96821633Cheaper moulds with short lifespans
>>96821633Well you wouldn't pay the price of a whole box of brutez for 1 unit champion if he wasn't limited edition

>>96821607Most of soulwars except for the ballista has pretty easy equivalents. Matches up pretty well into the skaventide spearhead too>5 hammer guys>dude on gryph>3 man elite 40mm base guys>characterOnly issue is the skaventide character has a little gryphhound. If you wanna expand to sigmar proper you can use the crossbow guys as vigilors (?) too. Outside of spearhead you can use your evocators as praetors or reclusians maybe? If you kitbash wings on em you can just use them as prosecutors outside spearhead too. Yeah it's a pretty good fit for everything but the ballista.
>>96821531Fuck that.Kruleboyz out of IJGitmob out of GSG, Spiderfang made into hooded riders savage stuff killed. That’s how it should work.
>>96821708>>96821663Thx, I might try to give the evocators wings somehow. Now I just need to kitbash some spirit hosts out of the nighthaunt side!
>>96821607Sequitors: Liberators/Annihilators Dracoline: Stormstrike Palladors Castigators: Vigilors Tauralon: Stardrake Evocators: Reclusians If you can get some old prosecutors you could use their legs and wings to have flying evocators but at that point just use the old prosecutors I suppose
>>96821656Yeah but the only people getting paid that much are the resellers on EBay >>96821649Any idea where to find recasts?

Whats the difference between recasts and 3d printing a GW stl?
>>96821969Material and the general internal structure of the model. 3D printing tends to be less detailed, recast will be more faithful (if done right)
>spider legged moon on giant squig boss>giant spider pet on troggboss >gobbapalooza has 1 entire spider themed guy and the big mushroom on spider legs >sneaky snuffles use spiders as backpacks >endless spells feature a spider horde and a magic cauldron on spider legs >skagrotts staff has spider legs Why is James refusing to update spider riders when they are such a important design element of the model range, the arachnarok is still good only needs a upgrade sprue with moonclan archers and done
Interesting detail in Spitewood. Kurnothi aelves can seemingly be reborn via lamentiri and soulpods BTW the lore in this book is fucking awesome!
>>96822064>ancestorsnot sure that counts as rebirth
>>96822064>soulpodsIs that what the ambers on their stomachs are?
>>96822064I think that means the elves literally just hid within the abandoned groves that housed the Soulpods until the Rite of Life happened and they took it as a sign to go to war.
>>96822064>Kurnothi aelves can seemingly be reborn via lamentiri and soulpodsYou're assuming too much. It just says they hid in soulpod groves. That the groves were "abandoned" makes it sound like there might not even have been any soulpods there since there were no sylvaneth around.>>96822090No, those are lamentiri. Lamentiri and soulpods are different things. But I suppose people often mistake them for the same thing.

>>96820869i dont understand why so many people hate hobgrots. both slittaz and vandalz have fun lore and great models, and vandalz were lucky enough to get decent rules too
Does anyone have the Hobgrot fluff sections of the HoH battletome? I'm curious how they dodge the obvious slavery
>>96820828I don’t collect them but they are DAMN tempting. Every piece of lore I’ve read from them is super cool, too.

>>96822362>the Chorf 9/11The what now?
>>96822362KB said Hobgrots are slave traders WarCom said HoH Hobgrots are an independent nation with a symbiotic relationship rather than slaves
>>96822383they're kinda both at the same time. its sort of like roman empire style slavery. a whole population isnt slaves, but those that are captured by professional slavers, lose in combat, get caught stealing, etc, get thrown into slavery, although the HoH uses the word "servitude" rather than outright slavery, even though the kruleboyz lore wasnt as shy about itso there are "free" hobgrots all over the place, but also hobgrots in "servitude" as well as leaders called robba baronz, which sound somewhat like little mob bosses for the hobgrots or something
>>96822379at one point chuardins and kruleboys were becoming best friends and swearing an eternal alliance while sharing beersthen an explosion destroyed a shipment of armaments going for the krules, both the generals who were swearing that alliance diedin the ensuing chaos both sides claimed they were the ones betraying the other (no, I didn't write that incorrectly) because clearly friendship between orcs and dwarfs was dumb anyway fights between dwarfs and orcs continued until the orcs sieged the ghurish capital and even reaching the inner chambers of ur zorn (lots of hobgrots labourers in that city) via suspiciously preexisting tunnels they couldn't possibly know aboutin the end the hobgrots of both sides mediated the peace between the two and have been enjoying the benefits of being the exclusive intermediates ever since

>>96821253Plaguebearer flesh, then add some Bieltan wash and it magically looks good. I'll have to dredge my 40k orks out of storage but I remember that with some snake scale green army painter highlights looking pretty good
>>96822042They're not actually that important, and also they will surely update them, but have to space them out because they already released some goblins this edition. So spiders will crawl out at the end of the edition or with the 6th edition battletome.Don't expect the goblins with them to stay forest goblins, and I would also not expect the spiders to stay as just spiders, instead of spider-squigs or some variegated hybrid or mixture of other creepy crawlies. The aracnarok will be lost completely, gw doesn't do upgrades like that for old products that are actually meant to stay up long term.
>>96822383Hobgorts trade human slaves Anon. Why the absolute fuck would they work with KB if they were selling themselves to slavery???
>>96822591are you new to how slavery works? everyone you can get your hands on is up for grabs
>>96822379Hobgrots falseflage a terrorist attack that kills orruk and chorf leaders. As a result all trade and politics between greens and menlets is now done through hob proxies. Hobs get a lot of wealth and influance from that middleman status ripping off both of their partners
>>96822575I'd honestly half expect spider goblins if GW does anything with them to probably drop the cavalry unless they can come up with a means of differentiating them too much from the entire Cavalry subset they just dropped. I'd half expect them to somehow become the more elite versions of grots? Like half spider freak gobbos that have been afflicted with some Araknarok curse.Could have them be like the zealots of the gits faction, they believe the spider will eat the world or some shit and so they have shit like suicide bomber goblins, horribly mutated freak goblins, super dangerous caster goblins that can blow themselves up. High risk, high reward type shit. I was trying to think of something that wasn't completely redundant because the gits have fucking EVERYTHING as is basically.
>>96822605Oh yes, that's why cotton plantations in USA were harvested by jews sold by other jews running the Atlantic slave trade
>>96821531>>96821540>>96821710my pitch on how to fix gitmob based on some conversations with fellow anons over the past few weeks:take them out of gloomspite, give them their own army combined with grotbag. They've still got their hating-but-also-admiring-the-sun bullshit, grotbag are the part of the army that goes a step beyond and reaches for the sky. Sort of a shitty rickety wooden tech similar to what the doomdiver catapult has. Generally a cav heavy army, with only one or two 'on-foot' units. Give them a second wave to put them on par with others. Tried to make the names appropriately gw-copyright-ese>gitmob footrabblebasic bitch wicker shield infantry. Can be snotlings if you want to minimize overlap with tow>snotling pumpwagonsfit the rickety tech, dualbuild with/without flappas to learn more grotbag or gitmob respectively.>footrabble boss/shamanbasic bitch character dual build to go along with your shitty infantry>grotbag scorch-skimmer"landship" inspired by that one old artwork where greenskins had ship. Essentially a sun-to-wind powered chariot. Maybe make it a catamaran.>grotbag sunreachazzealots who want to literally reach the sun, flying units with bows or some shit idk i'm sure there's more exciting weapon ideas out there>grotbag greatshipbig fucking zeppelin, maybe kharadron frigate sized. Can be a literal squig or just built in the shape of one.>characterbased on the ms paint suggestions of some anons, a gobbo using a lens death ray mounted on some palanquin, but he's gotta sit near the lens so he's constantly burnt to a crisp, hates his fucking life. Wish I could find the original pic but I think the thread it was in has since expired. All this + existing gitmob would create a decent size roster imo. Use the new designspace in gits to expand spiderfang. Also maybe give them an AoR that allows them to include gloomspite (and vice versa) for an edition or two at least, to not suckerpunch existing gitz players who bought into them
>>96821633Yeah imagine a mini that was only sent to specific partner stores in a quantity of like 2-3. So there's probably only like 100 of the stupid fucking things.
>>96822625do I really have to be the one to tell you it was blacks who sold black slaves to the atlantic slave traders?
>>96822591Yeah, that's why I'm curious about the HoH fluff because they're obviously slaves in HoH
oh, and this is the flying greenskin ship I was talking about
>>96822636>units of footno, unless they can only be taken alongside a transport unitgoing fast is the one good characterisation of this microfaction

>>96820828I only like the hobgrots and centaurs. I have no intention of buying anything else. I'm deeply disappointed to see no support for my Horns of Hashut.
>>96822688Then you still have an independant hobgrot nation enslaving someone else and selling that to Chrofs.See how hobgrots having stats and selling slaves isn't contradictory?I don't even know why you got the idea those two are somehow exclusive
>>96822735I really gotta save this one, I really liked the idea of him having a sunhat with no top on it and just the gnarliest scalp ever as he gets blasted with sun nonstop.I think the lore idea was, he's constantly trying to outrun the sun, but moves so slow he's basically perpetually underneath the sun at high noon. He's so completely fucking addled and angry he doesn't realize this so it's just him and his little umbrella buddy (the umbrella is burnt through and covered in holes)
>>96822323Taking issue with chaos dwarfs having hobgoblins shows a fundamental lack of understanding of the faction
What other spiders besides jumping spiders could we give the spider gobbos? I believe there's something called a web-spitting spider or something, and of course a huntsman. Trapdoors too, you could mark a terrain piece and they could ambush from there.
>>96822797My biggest issue with them is GW thinking anyone's gonna be dropping full price on a box of hobgrots when the dominion ones are still like 30 cents for like 80 of them.
>>96820884Some sculptor at GW thinks they're the most clever person in the world with how hard they're going into the shape/angular motifs on CoS (diamond/twin tails), Skaven (triangles), and HoH (hexagons/obtuse angles). I'm not a huge fan of it; it only works when reigned in.
>>96822735>They could use davinci esque shit though, maybe that could work. That's definitely better and would fit the pump wagons tooplus the magical sun-absorbing gimmick they have
>>96822799Orbweaver transport unit, just have a giant orb dragging behind it the gits can pile into. Or have it be like a wolf spider with a bunch of gits glutching onto it's back.
>>96822787>I don't even know why you got the idea those two are somehow exclusiveI didn't...? You must be mistaking me for someone else.I'm just telling you that hobs will surely sell each others as slaves on top of whatever other race, not just humans.

>>96822799Jumping spiders is fucking stupid. WE already have squigs, they already teleport and ignore terrain Stop this shitty forced meme
>>96822802I do agree with you on that. The only valid reason I could imagine for someone to deliberately buy vandalz is if they play chorfs in TOW and want to differentiate cutthroats (vandalz) and sneaky gits (slittaz).>>96822799I'm a spider freak, so I know lots of potential species that could make for awesome tabletop units. As one example, there's the ogre-faced spider, which is a nocturnal variety with huge eyes (that get burned out by daylight and have to regenerate daily; isn't that fitting for GSG?) that holds its web like a net to grab at prey. And if they deign to dip into other varieties of arachnid, you can get really crazy with stuff like amblypygids and uropygids.
>>96822867Sick>>96822825Thats nasty.

ramgiS fo egA
>>96822914>>96822903Jumping spiders are very intelligent and deliberate hunters; they wouldn't function anything like squigs with their random movement. It would make more sense for them to have an ambush rule, perhaps letting them deploy from a terrain piece and attempt a charge.
>>96822920>there's the ogre-faced spider, which is a nocturnal variety with huge eyes (that get burned out by daylight and have to regenerate daily; isn't that fitting for GSG?) that holds its web like a net to grab at prey.I want this especially because netters were always a special unit for the army since fantasy
>>96822948I could see them working as a deliberate assassin type unit. Although maybe that niche is limited in aos where characters don't attach to units. But yeah definitely make them very 'focused' units to set them apart from more random jumping squigs
>>96820756>TQShyish if only to find one of those under world paradises and secure my soul.
I feel like the biggest issue with gits is, the roster is already kind of fuck off massive and so it's hard to consider ideas that don't just already exist: you got hordes of dudes in standard gits alongside your foot wizards, you got squigs for bestial big damage run in and charge, your giant big tanky beefy monsters and giant monsters with troggs, you got cavalry and war machines with gitmob, I'm trying to figure out what else could be done other than like... Elite infantry? I mean obviously you can have similar units (look at fucking nighthaunt) but it'd be nice to have something new.
>>96823047>you got cavalry and war machines with gitmobThats the problem because they shouldn't be in the army in the first place ,stealing the place of spiderfang
okay so lets say you get to design your own edition of age of sigmar. you can make whatever changes you want to it. points per model, alternating activations, wargear, more spells, more souping, less souping, characters join units, you name it. what do you change? what do you add? what do you remove? what do you think is good and should stay the same?and this is more about the rules, not a "remove X army cuz they dumb lulz" topichow would you fix the game?
>>96823047Always wanted the underworlds squigapult to become a full unit, could be some heavier shooting or whatever. But realistically gitz have a very fulfulling roster, especially with gitmob tacked on. Outside of refreshes for spiderfang I can't see too much new stuff either.I guess they could refresh stabbas, and they will have to at some point I guess, but would people really even buy it? Gits are popular but stabbas hold up well and I don't think too many people would be jumping at the opportunity to paint 60 more new gits even if they're slightly better models
>>96823047>>96823075>stealing the place of spiderfangthey were very obviously meant to replace them as the fast skrimishy venomous critters with bow wielding grot riders when old world inevitably took back spiders. for whatever reason though, old world decided it didnt want them, and now we're stuck with both
>>96823094I feel like stabbas are fine, updating them and making them with more bits and more complex feels like it would make me less likely to want them. If I'm gonna be painting 80 of the fuckers, I'd rather it be a simpler model.
>>96823094>Always wanted the underworlds squigapult to become a full unit, could be some heavier shooting or whateverPic related is already a perfect concept for that
>>96823109Stabbas are one of those timeless kits and updating it would achive nothing but waste a model release for the army
>>96823109after painting 120 stabbas and shootas, and then also painting grinkraks looncourt, the added bits on the looncourt guys dont actually make them any harder to paint. its just a dab of metallics or a mushroom here or thereas long as its not full blown mushroom cage rigs like the sneaky snufflers, i dont think a few extra bits and poses would complicate the painting process for them at all. kinda like how the new clanrats arent any harder to paint than the old ones
>>96823116what is it about forgeworld sculpts that makes everything look like it was made out of paper mache
>>96823116on the other hand that unit is ugly as fuck while picrel is a comfy instant classic in all seriousness I wouldn't mind the squig gobba coming back, as long as it's not done in the awful forgeworld style
>>96822920The net one sounds perfect - just another nail in the GW-are-retards-coffin.
>>96823075Hold out hope anon, ya never know.
>>96822948Or maybe it's a type of assassin character, so you can't have a unit of them, to differentiate from squigs. It could get a bonus from objects, as you say.
>>96823109The underworlds versions of shootas wete basically just straight upgrades on the normal version imo. The only thing bad about shootas/stabbas is the way they hold their weapons, part of the price of a multikit. Spears are good but the clubs and especially the way they hold their bows is kind of awkward.
>>96823080more artifacts and hero traits. you now get one each per battalion in your army. all weapon options now get warscroll representation. Stormcast not in the starter, but Cities (preferably against an army that needs an expansion like tzeentch)
>>96823176That's honestly fair, the gits models also come out pretty good. (I'd honestly say they're on par with Nurgle in terms of just consistently good) IF they kept em just basic gobbos in robes I'd be happy, there's always just that little voice in the back of my head that says GW could fuck it up.
>>96823106tow wasn't involved in any part of the making of gitmob or the removal of spiderfagstow is making its own goblin wolf riders
>>96823200Gitz have been one of the best designed aos armies imo, totally agree with you. Take a strong base, and just add more fitting stuff. Very well executed range, the only miss for me is the sneaky snuffler guys. That was before gitmob of course, who clash with the rest of the army, but I think that discussion has already run its course many times over.>>96823205they are?
>>96823106Yeah, I expect them to get MW when they drop spiders which would honestly fix Gitmob competitively
>>96823080Give heroes more options, add a couple of generic spell lores that can fit into certain factions (every faction shouldn't have every lore but it would be nice to give my wizards more to do) different profiles for stuff like soggy units (I really like how a unit can exist as a fundamentally different version of itself) I'm gonna say something REALLY FUCKING CRAZY: change how points are earned to be more like Underworlds. Standing on circles isn't for anything other than specific objectives you can set up to try and get, killing an entire unit provides a point (killing the enemy leader or big fuckoff monster unit provides more points) put out objective cards that you can choose X many of before the game. (could even put out additional packs and make sales on them GW, THINK ABOUT IT) this idea is probably dumb as fuck but here we are.No more fucking double turn, just drop the concept entirely. Feels bad because you either don't get enough kills and lose by points or you completely steam roll the other guy. Have army books be physically available still, shrink size, SEPERATELY sell fluff books for the orders. (Death ,Destruction, Chaos, etc etc) just slap out a big fluff book for each one for people who want that sort of thing. (horrible idea but fuck it I'm just trying to spark conversation at this point)Actually have a team focused around keeping shit balanced so you don't put out an army book just as a means of nerfing a faction like 6 months after that has already stabilized. (Nighthaunt, COUGH COUGH)Then i dunno, make some new ROR rules and grand factions like: greenskins, legions of Nagash, etc etc.
>>96823176Moonclan without ears poking through the hoods look so terrible in comparison
>>968230801/2Return of S/T. If fixed to-hit stats are removed too, then follow the simple WS/BS calculation of greater or less than adding/reducing by 1 and needing doubles to reduce/improve by 2.PPM with minimum sizes and Non-modeled unit upgrades to unlock abilities or improve stat lines at the cost of points. Many offensive spells become shooting weapons that have damage profiles and possibly additional effects. The casting roll is the to-hit. Very few mortal wound spells remain.Subfactions can change unit stat lines or add abilities to a variety of listed units. Lorewise, every subfaction will be attributed to a rules subfaction as their primary method of battle, but not their only one.Armies of Renown removed, in their place is the ability to choose different army-wide battle traits.Hero enhancements cost points but are balanced based on how strong they are rather than making the 1 good relic cost points. There’s also many more including generic ones that are free or very low cost but less effective.Souping limited, can only be 1/4 of your total points, no enhancements. RoR’s become a hero and 1-2 units.Mission-specific battle tactics/objectives rather than list based. Once per game abilities just flat out work, no risk of failure. Only foot heroes can join units.Listbuilding is simple. Hero+ 1-2 subheroes + 3 units per regiment. Subheroes denoted in battle profiles, usually foot heroes. All sub heroes can be heroes leading a regiment.(cont)
>>96823080>>968234982/2I guess it would largely feel like a mix of 40k 7/8e without glaring issues like the detachments giving free units. Theres also lot of good in the game right now, it’s just the army rules are boring as shit and double turn feels bad especially if you can only get it without penalty if you’re getting your ass thoroughly whooped. Making the threshold easier to achieve and you get what people were doing in season 1 of 4e with them trying to game the points enough to get a double in an advantageous position. I’m not sure about how alternating activations would pan out in this game. That’s what I could come up with during periods of downtime at work.
>>96823288>Age of TDM-marFuck that
I don't think we should bring back "each weapon on a model has a unique statline" that's awful. Like imagine 20 steelhelms and you've got stats for axes swords clubs and flails, too much shit for a simple battleline unit.
>>96823080some kind of creation table for artifacts, some customization to make your dudes ( i don't think weapon options are EXACTLY the way to go about it, but who knows), KEEP double turns but turn them into something more flavorful and make them a list building consideration. Lets say you want to take some big important center piece character like big ush, if you take him you lose your ability to double turn, and hopefully ush is more re-worked in a way that makes him important enough to ignore that. A way to make them falvorful is uh...idk maybe make it so that only your hero's can take advantage of it rather than everything else if you want it to, for fec of course. Idk. Also, for army of renowns, I dont get why the rules for these things are so fucking sparse. Like the blood knight one is so boring that if it weren't for it being an eye candy aor no one would care for it, even troggherd has more nuance to it and its the dumb troll army. AOR should be given some more level of unit customization than what would be present in your bog standard army, like let me buy banners for blood knights, or decide to give them negative traits to make them cheaper in points, or turn the champion into a wizard, etc etc.
>>96823672Also I want morale to come back, idk how, but control points are bad and static.

>>96824702Neat I get to stay the underdog because I have both armys and everyone gets to hate me.
>>96824646I'd say there aren't really faction stereotypes as strong as 40k or fantasy because AoS has a shorter history (it's onwy ten) and many armies are on the newer side. Instead of army stereotypes it's more accurate to say that grand alliances have sweeping stereotypes that define them with individual factions just being extentions of those. >GA OrderNormies who like "good guys". I also feel like Order players tend to see AoS as a sequel to Fantasy and like models that resemble fantasy greatly. >GA Order, elvesDifferent from the rest of order because people who like the elf factions (Lumineth Realm Lords, Daugters of Khaine, Idoneth Deepkin, and Sylvaneth) are more likely to prefer less head-on tactics. They like tactical adaptability and don't mind physically weaker units. They are like Order players in that they like AoS continuing from Fantasy. >GA DeathDeath players tend to be edgier, tend to like having very /yourdudes/ armies with their own lore and unique twists, and view AoS as a sequel to Fantasy but want it to move on significantly. They're also the GA players who seem to have the most GA solidarity, death players fuck hard with other death players and often have more than one death army. >GA ChaosThe most diverse group. The main thing I'd say about their relationship with Fantasy is that they view AoS as just Fantasy on round bases and hate rule and lore changes that deviate from that. They're also the least solid GA; eg Skaven players really hate Tzeentch players, Khorne players are largely pretty hostile and staunch, Slaany players hate AoS lore a shitload because it screws their faction over greatly, etc. Overall the typical Chaos player is very basic but demanding. >GA DestructionThese are the players like like big things the most, best exemplified by them literally having the biggest models. They like the stompiest and most destructive passives and abilities. They like other destruction players, but hate the other armies.
>>96824727>death players fuck hard with other death playersI wish I could fight more death armys as a death player, I'd have to worry less about being shot.
>>96824727>Skaven players really hate Tzeentch players?
if a doubled up unit CAN have extra musicians/standard bearers, is there any reason TO build them as such? It doesn't stack
>>96824809the only reason would be to have them modeled in case you ever wanted to field those models as 2 MSU squads instead of one combined squad. if you build a unit of 20 steelhelms with only 1 set of command for example, then if you ever wanted to run them as 2x10 instead you wouldnt have the command models for one of those units
>>96824809You can pull one for wound allocation and not lose the benefit.

I still dont undrrstand how "Warcraft Style" is bad. Warhammer and Warcraft shared style, ideas and concepts since a long long time ago; and if you say "warcraft is too cartoony" you never played Warhammer because it has an lot of silly and cartoony things.
So is there a wide spread bone market?Bonereapears won't attack a tow if they reach the tithe, but occasionally the town can't supply the demand in time.Meaning they'd look for other sources and probably ask other places from far away to get them the required bones. There'd be a lot of money made if you can get from one place to another with dried goods that a populace isn't actually using and will probably exchange for a decent sum.
>>96826012Not to mention, don’t people whine about the loss of the cartoony shit in modern Warhammer? Theres no pleasing a mob of faceless whiners. For me “Warcraft Style” is a compliment. I love WoW and whatever company made a WoW minis line like Archon Studio has with StarCraft will have free rein on my wallet.

>>96826318The issue with the 40k admech range is just that its kinda completely tone deaf with the rest of the setting. Whether that's on purpose or not thats probably something someone whose more invested in 40k can say.
>>96826318Eh I had a look and it doesn't seem very davinci-esque? More wild west somehow. >>96826513>nta5+ Save and 4w per model says yes. They explode you on the charge, or they explode. It's very much an alpha strike army. The recursion in the new Battle Formation and the healing spell help, at least. You're elite by virtue of wounds and output, not save.
>>96826513Yep. Most models are 5+ save with 4 wounds for 30-50 points per model. Great damage output, though. 2 damage is pretty standard, if not more. It's enough wounds that you can tie down a unit for a turn or two, but you're going to lose models quickly. The Beastclaws might also be better, but I don't have any experience with them.
>>96826513yeah, ogres are basically 4 grots in a trenchcoat
I've been looking at trying out Daughters of Khaine, but I've been curious how they play exactly. They're squishy as hell and pretty fast, but it doesn't look like they have the damage output to make up for their low wounds and saves. I've mostly been looking at the snake and bird women, but their infantry has a maximum damage output of 3 or 4 per model per turn for some pretty expensive models
>>96826533>>968265535+ save is pretty rough. I'm angling to get into ogres as my next army but I'm kind of waiting to see what they do with the refresh first. I think I would like a pretty glassy army though, so as long as their damage is there it's still fine by me. >>96827246I wouldnt really want one. Not from current CA. Maybe back when the talent that worked on shogun 2 was still there I'd vouch for it. BUT if I must voice what i'd want from a Total war aos game, then first off it needs to be set it in the realm of Ghyran. So, from there its only natural to go for Nurgle, Sylvaneth, cities, skaven, and an odd pick between either night haunt or obr. Make it its own self contained game. The hard part for ca would be captiliziang on the dlc bucks the game would want to generate, and this is extremely dependent on whether gw lets CA make stuff without models like the order of the furrow, or the living city in general for cities, or the order of the fly for nurgle. As for gameplay wants, devolution is a need. Whether its old ruins, trees, or corpses, the environment of battle maps need to be interacted on a scale greater than what Attila had. ah, and make gitz and iron jawz as free dlc for the first game too.

>>96827851Generic witch elf model probably wouldn't sell that well, but a Morathi model would sell out in 5 minutes>>96827854I think if they had an especially well designed figure like Bastian Carthalos with some good background lore, it could sell well. But they're obviously not going to sell much with a boring character like Neave
>>96827885What if it's a generic witch elf but she has a fat ass?
>>96827896This is fine too
Occultism is cool and gw should introduce more of that jazz to Aos.
>>96828163Destruction faction of humans who want to destroy all gods because it's the Empire of MAN not the Empire of GODS. They tap into the Evil Magic that isn't chaos magic (somehow) that decays the connection between material and magical.
>>96828187Seeing as all the gods outside of chaos and gorkamorka are ascended mortals, you could work with that with only minor tweaking.
>>96828163The new TOW book involves both lore and rules about religious worship in northern communities (chaos worship)
>>96828163I feel like they've been leaning pretty heavy into the occult theming for HoH. Everything ties back to their bullgod and worship. I do kind of wish Tzeentch cultists looked like actual cultists and not half naked men with bird masks
Disposessed acknowledged in the year of our lord 2025
>>96828209Sounds cool, I remember reading some bit bits about nosrca back when I played tww, it was alright. I guess I’ll just have to content myself with some Warcry books for now. >>96828230Yeah that’s a real neat aspect of them, really looking forward to whenever they get a book.
>>96828349>Make a warband of FIRE SAMURAI>Never revisit it againWhy
>>96828369The crasiest thing is seeing Necromunda literally right there. With all there gangs, and customization, and expansion after expansion to the point where you could literally start actual armies of them. And then there's Warcry. Only one warband got two releases, and they're jsut reposes in the Underworlds kit.
>>96828369>why does this hyper western thing barely have any asian influence in itit is a mystery. We still need skaven ninja's first
>>96828492>why does this hyper western thing barely have any asian influence in itHey, the lumineth are very unique take on Greek and Chinese Philosophies, and I applaud the thinkwork that went behind that, its a very rare combination of spheres to ever really see depicted in media. but uh...yeah u rite eshin could use some more luv.
>>96828492there are actually several entire asian themed armies, lumineth, ogres, cathay, hedonites depending on weather you count persian as asian or notthey just avoid samurai specifically, for whatever reason nobody knows, but throughout all of whfb, aos, all their side games, they basically never touch samurai
>>96828341A hero is no indication they will get anything else.At least I still have opr...
>HoH box arrived>everything included but the skullfaced tormentor crew head was broken off sprue>bought from online shop so no chance james will helpI'm salty
>>96828516We can hold put hope for obr at least
>>96828516>weather you count persian as asianPersia is Asian, but it isn't East Asian. Just like a French army wouldn't be Eastern European
>>96829020But would a French army be South American?
>>96829038...Yes actually
>>96829043Would it also be North American? What about Oceanian?
>>96827347>odd pick between either night haunt or obrNew Summecourt is right there in Ghyran
Are there any other Kurnothi/Wood Elf stories in AoS that I missed? I think this is everything relating to the woodland folk. The Warden in the Mountain (Short Story - Conquest Unbound Anthology)Chains of Fate (Short Story - Direchasm Anthology)The Roots of Death (Short Story - Direchasm Anthology)The Hunter's Quarry (Short Story - Untamed Realms Anthology)The Call of the Hunt (Short Story - White Dwarf 494)Dawnbringer Chronicles - Spring the Trap (Short Story - No Anthology)Prince MaesaDark Harvest
>>96827592I liked Realms of Ruin.It also has the dubious prize of most disgusting sound effect I've ever heard in a game.
>>96829118Better or worse than one of black mesa devs slapping his wife's wet ass?
>>96829133I hadn't hear of that one, and wished I hadnt. Is that a sound effect in black mesa?
>>96829133>Better or worse than one of black mesa devs slapping his wife's wet ass? That sound effect always makes me lick my lips.
>>96829170Yeah.Well, officially I think it "May or may not" be one but you know the deal with that sort of thing.
>>96829133That's based. Depending on his wife
>>96829133But was the ass fat
>>96828516I'd argue there's also subfactions with Asian themes either other armies. Wolf gitz feel very japanese but that might just be the big guys sun backrest looking like the Japanese thunder God dudes
General question for folks in EU are you paying any extra import taxes when buying something from the UK?
>>96829373yes, absurd ones too
>>96829407Figured, I had to deal with an import a couple of months ago but I was hoping at least smaller, less expensive packages wouldn't be an issue.
>>96829276First time I've seen gitmob referred to as japanese, i get the thunder drum thingy you're referring to, but outside of that I don't really see it
>another day without Warcry rules for HoHWhat's the holdup?
>>96829524The "Divine wolf with the sun-wheel on its back" is very reminiscent of Okami, and all the Goblins have a Zelda Twilight Princess vibe (similarly the armors have a "Zelda's take on Mongols" vibe). These are the Japanese elements I see
>>96829601>None of those images look even remotely similarAre you autistic?
>>96829601>and all the Goblins have a Zelda Twilight Princess vibeYou're grasping at straws hereDo we have to add this schizophrenia to the bingo chart?
>>96829611>>96829652No offense, but I think you guys are morons
Managed to snag a complete box of the sigmarite mausoleum for 100 euros on vinted. Everything complete with only the box having a dent. >>96829373Yes, but there is no import tax on buying from GW at least. Still sucks though. Goblintrader was a decent website for OOP kits, but now its not worth buying from them with the upcharge.
>>96829744Considering how incapable you are of matching likenesses, there's no offence taken here.
>>96829601warhammer fantasy had orc pig riders before either of these things existed, but okay. I didn't think there would be nintendies on this board too, but alas
>>96828516>if you count persian as asianwe know what an asian is, middle easterners are not "asian" in any but the most technical sense. >ogreskind of? other armies do the horse back mounted monghol thing better, but none of them including ogres have particularly strong asian theming>LRLpeople say this but aside from the guy riding a DBZ goku cloud I'm ust not seeing it. I'll give you Cathay being the singular dedicated asian faction, and it took them how many decades to put out one?
>>96829799Tolkien had goblins riding wolves but I'm pretty sure he was influenced by the Japanese folklore that went on to influence Okami and The Legend of Zelda
>>96829765>>96829652>>96829611NTA, how does either schizophrenia or autism tie into either of those? Do better.
>>96829817making connections where there aren't or focusing on small details beyond what's reasonable are respectively symptoms of schizophrenic delusions and autistic disorders.
>>96829601Warhammer always presented O&G as Mongol which follows the tradition of Tolkien but no the leather barding isn't present in TLoZ Orcs at all.Zelda didn't invent multiple riders on a mount. Okami didn't invent the idea of the sun.
>>96829812>Tolkien had goblins riding wolves correct, because in western fantasy all roads lead to Tolkien>pretty sure he was influenced by Japanese folkorehe collected woodblock prints and calligraphy because he thought it was pretty. He would have had almost as little knowledge of japanese folklore as you do of where the inspiration for these GW models comes from.
>>96829856Cope, the plot of LoTR is basically Twilight Princess 1:1 he was definitely aware of it
>>96828516Lumineth are way too Greek. So are the Deepkin. So are the Ossiarchs.
>>96829601sex with midna
>>96829862Lumineth and Helves aren't really Greek at all, they're just bronze age hodgepodge. The only real connection is the phalanx
>>96829601Nintendo should sue. The blatant plagiarism is getting out of hand!
>>96829862>Lumineth are way too GreekYou cannot genuinely be arguing that they're more greek than they're asian
>>96829601please tell me how Gitmob have a "Zelda Twilight Princess vibe"
>>96829862Ossiarchs are more like Hellenistic Near East, or maybe Ptolemaic Egypt. They are Alexander the Greats legions as bone golems, not classical Greece.
>>96829889HE were absolutely Greek, between the units, the way their pantheon of gods played, the Atlantis themes running through them, their navy and the depictions of their ships, the various competing city state kingdoms, etc.LRL.... Not so much. They went a lot harder on more Asian elements as >>96829946 pointed out. They lost the God pantheon aspect, kinda kept the seperate city state thing, it's a lot more muddled than it was before
>>96827587>strong woman face/v/ tier bait, there's a 1 to 1 shot you have a saved copy of that stupid fuckin chart. If you really belonged here you wouldn't buy it because stormcast are boring.
>>96830116that's a golden demon entry, I assume?
>>96830116Holy shit that's excellent. Is it someone's Golden Demon piece or something
>>96830116How people pull off this level of detail is amazing, now the only thing I wonder is what does it look like from the other sides.
>>96830116Ooh that's pretty
>>96830113>Atlantis themesNot a Greecian thing and you're thinking of the Moorcock Elric influence
>>96830154>high elves>not atlantis>atlantis>not greekdon't be dumbulthuan is placed where many positioned atlantisone of their most important events is the near sinking of the continent one of their characters is not!hercules monsters in their mountains are greek monsterstheir temples have a classical greek stylethe myths regarding their gods are meant to evoke olympian stories, down to a crippled forge god associated with volcanos they had other influences as well, but only a blind retard who thinks gitmob have zelda vibes would think they're not also greeks
>>96830201Fantasy high elves sure, they literally live on a ringed island. Not LRL
I wonder if malerions faction will carry any tolkein influence
>>96830384They will turn into stone in sun like the trolls in hobbit
>>96829601I don't see the zelda connection but the sun wolf ring thingy is pretty cool, might be a source of inspiration
>>96829601You’re not wrong but this is the worst comparison that could have been made
>>96830116good lordI wonder what bits were used. I recognize tahlia's chair and some battlemage bits on the body, but damn
>>96830201Atlantis has nothing to do with Greece. High Elves took their island nation downfall narrative from Melnibonians
>>96830668>atlantis has nothing to do with greeceThe absolute state of this board

THE GREAT PLAN BEARS FRUIThttps://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/htmsx5mm/adrian-tchaikovsky-interview-writing-the-seraphon-in-starseers-ruin/
>>96830749WOOOOOOOOOOO
>>96830749Oh shit why not. This guy any good?
>>96830116That guy looks like his brother has a abnormal hate for smurfs
>>96830757Similar energy
>>96830771His 40k stuff has been really good. His non-Warhammer stuff has been great xenofiction. Dunno how he cuts it as a writer of licensed fantasy stories but he's got some bona fides in other respects.
>>96830771Yeah
>>96830749I’m not really a fan of his thoughts during the interview, but I’ll be loookign forward to it. Also I guess it’s gonna be up for pre order next week.
>>96830749Oh fuck yeah. The previous short the starseer MC is from was fun.
>>96830749>>96830757wait, what the fuck? is he picking up on the short story? I had fun with the skink in that one
>>96830854It’s a prequel to the short.
>>96830829He’s right tho the most interesting/interesting parts of Warhammer books aren’t even about the “war”. Like vaults of terra fucks and a lot of the Warhammer crime books
>>96830863>Warhammer crimeFucked up that that entire imprint was entirely set in a single location in one time period of just one of GW's settings. Like it never even touched HH, AoS, or TOW. Didn't ever move away from the one hive world. It's nuts.
>>96830681atlantis isn't real
