Ventrue are the stereotypical princes, but what are princes of other clans like?
>>96847607He looks like a SoCal native, even the Nosferatu curse can't make him any more repulsive.
What paths and rituals would you recommend for a sorcerer trying to keep up with the splats without bargaining with dark forces?
>>96847855>BrujahEither a warrior-philosopher that actually tries or just a charismatic thug that knows how to lead a gang better than most.>TremereMercenary and likely a regent within the actual clan. Will probably be more permissive than expected since they'll wanna benefit the clan, or their house, first before wider camarilla society.>NosferatuLikely struggles against their compulsion more than most because of the balancing of politics. I'd imagine is respected more than feared in terms of local politics.>GangrelPragmatic, reasonable, but also might not like how often they're bothered. Depends on how well they do in the city.>ToreadorThe fucking Harpy, the fucking harpy ousted the prince and now deigns to be like their betters! Probably an older toreador so they can better manage their compulsion.>MalkavDepends on their derangement and if they're fighting a shadow war against themselves. Barring that, I'd wager they're a more practical type of prince outside of doing machinations for things they and other malkavians know.>TzimisceLikely a very involved prince depending on how they see their domain and how rigidly they follow etiquette when it comes to other clans. Probably one of the easier princes to bribe if their compulsion hits.>RavnosHeh. I'd wager more active than expected, in part due to their bane, so they'd be involved probably be on amicable terms with their primogens.>SalubriHa>Banu HaqimMight be like the tzimisce only with the letter of the law over the spirit. I can't see them being much different than how they normally are.>HecataPermissive and probably very mercenary. Clan comes first, it's why you're in a clan domain.>LasombraA more practical and pragmatic ventrue. Might pose themselves as the seneschal or a different member of the court to feel new comers out.>MinistryWould likely come off as very friendly and amenable as they sink hooks in you. Very likely to be more innocent looking minister to blend in better.
What spheres would be needed for an effect that reads a specific trait of people?Like a talisman or trinket that measures the Humanity or equivalent (or some other trait like Willpower) of those it scans, or a rote that replicates the effect of Daimonion's first dot.
Are there any rules or traditions that a vampire could use to achieve some sort of truce with werewolves, or at least set up some kind of rules of engagement? The "accept an honorable surrender" part of the litany wouldn't apply to leeches, right?
>>96848191Gangrel are about the only clan that come close to lukewarm relations. Individually, maybe a brujah and a glass walker. Shadow lords and Lasombra/ventrue/banu haqim might be doable if they're clear cut about things.
Do we have a list of oWoD Merits somewhere, like we have one for cWoD?
>>96848212Are there any garou customs or laws that might be of use for an attempt?
>>96847880Depends on what do you want. IIRC there is a power combo to play a nuke by just getting a magic item to reduce the cost of inferno and similar paths.
>>96848231No idea. I'm not that versed in woof lore. Beyond the point that they probably shut down most inter-splat contact, hard, because they're just like that. I suppose, if you're an ST, you could comb through CofD for better explanations. That series entertained the idea of splats working together better.

>>96848191>control a resource of value to them>be too buck for them to beat you up and take it>be less aggressive than themFuries were feeding actual babies to Theophana for services.
>>96848191Werewolves have truces with vampires in many places. New York City and Vancouver for example. Leeches are actually one of the smallest concerns for the Garou and as long as the vamps aren't actively aiding Pentex or anything Wyrm related, the two can avoid each other entirely. What works best when approaching them is power. If it's clear that a war or battle between the leeches and Garou will end on phyric terms, they'll be more amenable. What's even better is the offer to pursue a common goal. If any laws of the Litany apply to a vampire is entirely dependant on the Sept in question, their feelings and traditions. But to most there'a only one that's applicable; combat the Wyrm, wherever it dwells and whenever it breeds. Don't go in thinking you'll find a way to out-lawyer a philodox.
>>96843726Elaborating on this, I'd also make both werewolves and witches more "grounded". I'd completely toss out the Noble Savage medicine man thing that Werewolf: the Apocalypse and Werewolf: the Forsaken do. And witchcraft would be a practice, instead of something inherently different about the character.
>>96844304You just described the premise of Geist: the Sin-Eaters. Play it and enjoy it.
Can someone post the Christian Bale Psycho image macro of him about to run over a succubus disguised as a school crossing guard? It was used to describe how Hunters become schizo over time.
For the guy with the Psychopump idea from last thread here's an idea. While psychopumps as a whole work for the whole soul agency, individuals are effectively have "corporate backing" from various the afterlives. Each type of afterlife provides powers and tools to help a psychopump do their job, with the contingency that they get some kickback of the souls collected. A reaper who works for the lost-souls division wields a Khopesh from AnubisA reaper who hunts necromancers has a Valkyrie swordThe reapers who are effectively boarder patrol have shinagami powers Even in death, there are sponsorship deals
When they say temporary characteristic does it go away after a while or as in until it gets replaced at the next frenzy?
>>96848513I'd imagine for the current scene and then fades unless stated otherwise
>>96848513If I could attach the image
>>96848450I thought Geist was basically a ghost possessing a person, there's no obligation to reap souls or anything like that.
>>96848530They're WoD ghost busters that shouldn't be alive. Part of their whole schtick is dealing with hauntings and helping ghosts pass on for a reasonable fee. Of course.
>>96846402>I want my dreams back, in full, with the real colours I used to feel from them, not the fake colours I give them now.
>>96848231No. Any protections, civilities, customs, etc. that Garou afford to each other would never, ever apply to vampires. If your Gangrel tried to be cute and challenge someone to an honor duel, they'd be rebuffed as having none, at the very least, and would likely end up just getting killed. Just like Kindred culture is for Kindred, Garou culture is set up for Garou.

>>96847824>Does your crime against the natural world have someone they consider family? Is there more than one such person? Some of my players:Hermanas hambrientas: I guess they count?Tzim: considers his ghouls "family" (in the same way people consider their dogs and cats family).Gangrel: His mom and dad are around but he rarely gets to see them, even though he genuinely reveres them. There's his "adopted" family, whom he respects but dislikes.Zhong Mokole: Lots of sisters he loves deeply. Yes, it's exactly what you assume.Etherite: Has a Technocrat who considers him a failed experiment but still wants to bring him to the "right side."Ecstatic: Adopted sister and a little niece. She hopes they never ever awaken.Verbena: Crystal new age hippie mom. After awakening and joining real witch covens she realized how cringe her mom is, but loves her nonetheless and even tried to get a crone to help her awaken.Euthanatos: Mom and brother, Hunters. They hate Mages, but have never faced anything beyond beginner level hollow/orphans.Hermetic: grandma is a somewhat respected Hermetic too. They "like" each other except when it comes to in-tradition academic bullshit.Wraith girl: Mom who killed her in a really bad case of Munchausen by proxy.Wraith guy: Daughter who survived an gang (cult) attack him and his wife didn't.
>>96848819i'm playing on the 31 hehehehe
>>96847824>Does your crime against the natural world have someone they consider family? Is there more than one such person?Req Nosferatu: His family's still out there, but he basically disappeared himself and his original identity after he was embraced, his sister managed to track him down after a masquerade breach managed by making it look like a viral marketing campaign for a movie. Swore to his bitch of a sire he'd collect her head if she did anything to bring the sister into the vamp world. Still sees the guy who taught him everything he knows about being a good burglar as an uncle.Lost Fairest Mirrorskin: His fetch died to what was unclear to be either an accident or suicide while he was in the Hedge, and he came out a lot shorter and highly androgynous compared to his "leading man" Broadway star looks he had when taken, so he surreptitiously checks on his parents but hasn't tried to contact them.
>>96848914>while he was in the Hedge*Arcadia, I mean.
>>96848914>His fetch died to what was unclear to be either an accident or suicide while he was in the HedgeWas this your idea or the ST's? Was this done because of the storytelling opportunities it would create, or did you just not want to have to deal with fetch stuff with this character? Not being critical at all, I just think this is an interesting way of handling the fetch dilemma and I'm curious about the logic behind it.
>>96846898Does anyone even play Marine Gangrel?
>>96848212>Gangrel are about the only clan that come close to lukewarm relations.Lol no.It's funny the other clans believe this because IIRC the Gangrel exploit this to sell travel/protection/messenger services and mostly get by with Earthmeld. The usual clan policy is "We don't have any agreement and they fucking hate us, if you find any sign of woofs get the fuck out while you still can".
How difficult is it to run a multi-sourcebook campaign? I want to run WoD again, but no two of my players want to run the same splat. If I keep the campaign a bit shorter than usual, is it possible to balance, say, vampire, werewolf and changeling?
>>96849190oWoD is anything from a challenge to a nightmare, CoD is a bit tricky to a challenge, and nWoD is designed for it but isn’t fully complete yet.
>>96849190difficult enough that onyx path made the fact that "multi splat games aren't going to suck ass now" (although ymmv) the entire selling point of their next urban fantasy gamelike you need to custom pick specific character options so that these 3 can even be in a room together and it get's worse from there
>>96849190it's far less painful if you use NWoD/Chronicles 2E books, significantly more delicate if you want to use OWoD. This sort of thing it's a good idea to talk to your players extensively to get them on the same page as, especially in OWoD there can be very different levels of abilities - if your vampire wants to be a combat character, they're going to feel bad next to a werewolf.
>>96847889The fuck is a Hecata?
>>96849331Giovanni + All the other necromancer clans, led by the cappadocian a guy who was explicitly not as good at necromancy as the Giovanni but is now the ultimate lich lord because the v5 writers not only didn't read the sourcebooks they didn't read the wiki either.
>>96847824You as you actually are get isekaied into the WoD world. You preserve all your memories, connections, family and friends as if you were always born in that world.Wdyd?>inb4 I become a mageKnowing that the supernatural exists and that every sleeper can potentially become awakened, doesn't mean automatically going through the Awakening process though
>>96849363>You as you actually are get isekaied into the WoD worldGreat, my life doesn't change much. I'd be more careful going anywhere after dark and I'd probably avoid the woods.
>>96847880There's a lot of easy tricks to take. Ive gone over them extensively in the past. One thats pretty amazing is Path of Conjuration. Create bombs. There isn't much thats explosion proof & at high levels you can make a brick of C4 or a white phosphorus bomb (extra flamey) thats as big as you are. With a few dots in Science you can make pocket nukes or a demon core. Use the CCTV ritual on a little drone camera & fly that to the enemy. You can cast magic through it so you could say... use Conjuration to blow shit up & make walls, or Path of Blood to drain all the vitae out of a victim while a mile away. Take Necromancy Path of Skulls (finding a teacher might involve sucking your STs dick) but its capstone ability allows you to eat the skull of another to gain a trait of theirs. This means you can get max stats will some research & a shovel. Take the witchcraft merit to make Luck amulets/potions/circles to gain bonuses to all your really hard to make rolls.Use path of Mercury to teleport & stay on the move. Not being somewhere is the best defense. Its also nice to waltz into the enemies layer, conjure a bomb & then teleport out.Path of Spirit Manipulation & some work can let you turn into a werewolf & learn werewolf gifts. It can also let you swallow a Bane & become better than most vampires.Pathbof the Focused Mind allows you to use two sorceries at once so that means you can drain a guy with Path of Blood twice as fast, or whatever else you might want to do Path of the Divine Hand let's you crush dudes halfway across the worldPath of Warding let's you put wards on objects to do damage to everything thats not you that touches it. Put them on your clothes, your weapon, every inch of your haven. Or better yet put them on a bunch of coins or rocks or whatever then use Movement of the Mind to slap them all on someone. Instantly a fuck ton of damage
>>96849369One of the best rituals is Engaging the Vessel of Transference. Prep three bottles, walk up to somebody & tap them with each one. Instant 3rd level Blood Bond, why even need Dominate? It also let's youbfeed without getting bloody. Just tap someone in a dance club or whatever & its instantly in you. Use Principle Focus of Vitae Infusion & turn a ton of coins or little glass beads into portable vitae snacks. Then when you use Pathbof Blood to lower your generation to an Antideluvian, you can suck in all that extra blood & go to town
>>96849335Gross. Fuck v5
>>96847855Keep in mind no matter the Prince they usually have a Seneschal to balance them out or just handle things they find bothersome.
>>96849377if you haven't read about it yet it's actually stupider than you think. lazarus appearntly did -something- that turned all members of the "clan of death" into cappadocians in terms of disciplines (although with st permission you are allowed to take one discipline of the old discipline spreads for giovanni and lamia) and giovanni in terms of weakness but uhm you see they let some nagaraja in and those guys are unrelated by blood being a setite bloodline but they are still somehow effected by that change and v5 never explains why and howso if you have necromancy lazarus can just edit your bloodline it seems! remember what the other anon said lazarus didn't even knew necromancy as well as the giovanni? in fact he didn't knew it at all originally. he only learned it between second edition and revised by buying teachings of it from the giovanni! (mortis was a seperate discipline back then after all)
>>96849454It was probably just WW trying to simplify things like everything else in V5
>>96849474kinda acording to dawkins hecata is something onyx path wanted to do since before paradox took over v5 which is why it's foreshadowed in becketts but still didn't mean they had to make the guy who only learned the basics of necromancy 20 years ago the ultimate undead demigod of death
> Homid, relatively young and idealistic (college age I guess, bit of a woke mentality), concept is anthropologist/historian who took a look at actual Garou history and went "Nope, we fucked up, we fucked up bad. Only thing we can do now is find the Fera wherever they are - deep Umbra if necessary - and make amends by any means possible, most likely blood"Which auspice, /tg/, and why?Bits and pieces from every auspice apply, honestly (except Ahroun of course), and I can't seem to land on one.---Bonus question: which tribe, and why?No Children of Gaia, that's too easy.
>>96849483>hecata is something onyx path wanted to do since before paradox took over v5 which is why it's foreshadowed in beckettsBut why did they want to do it?Feels like a very odd ending to the Giovanni/remnants of Cappidocia war plotline
>>96849502i can only guess it was because the giovanni always been impressively unpopular like even doing white wolf days their books sold noticeably less and their chronicle nearly got canceled, but necromancy is cool and doing the usurping plot line again but in the modern night probably wouldn't work well so let's degrade the giovanni to a bloodline instead?
>>96849074No, mainly because what makes a Mariner different from baseline is mostly "has fucked off into the sea never to be seen again"
>>96848623>>96848634While I get that is what the game is going for, I honestly don't recall any time where that was what was delivered.
>>96849363Knowing my luck, I would end up as a Wraith and then a Specter despite my best efforts to be as far away from the supernatural. Also my ass is going to be a Catholic monk or something along those lines out of fear.
>>96849155It's easy to sell the idea because of Protean. They don't get hurt by the wolves because of how hard it is to track them.
Is there anything good about 5th edition?
>>96849155It's ancient lore by this point.
>>96849754Some of the loresheets are evocative of stories that sound cool. I really like the one with the Malkavian methuselah running a Dark City on a Manson ranch.
>>96849754The Lore Sheets and Resonances are pretty good ideas. I like some of the changes to humanity, what else...
>>96849493For a bit of a joke tribe choice, Bone Gnawers cause "Broke college kid".For a serious one Silver Fangs. Long and know history, sense of responsibility, and resources to actually act. Add it to the American House and you get a modern day activist with werewolf powers who's going on about reparations or some such similar
>>96849363Probably pick up some sorcery. I won't have much to do that won't get me killed but at least I can do some magic
>>96849493Non-asshole Shadow Lords are THE tribe. I love how in the Apocalypse book they're straight up told "yes, you could have been the best of us if only you weren't such assholes".
>>96849680This isn't true, IIRC it's stated in one Wolf book since vampire's dead body doesn't produce any pheromones and such it's extremely easy to tell a Gangrel from real wolves, I don't remember where this was said however
>>96849493Philodox or Galliard. Galliards are more combat orientated and work as supporters, so I'd lean with that one. Wanna howl with the cats better learn how to pur, that sort of thing.Shadow Lords or perhaps Uktena? The Uktena should know a lot of distant stories about old Fera.
>>96849946Not that, I'm talking about how a Gangrel in bat form can cover a huge distance in dog territory before fusing with the ground to avoid any trouble during the day.
>>96849493Stargazer
>>96850037they can do that?isnt that bullshit?
>>96849754When it comes to lore? Fuck no, they raped vampire, werewolf, hunter and they're probably gonna destroy mage next.Gameplay? They made it a lot easier to understand (only applies to new players). In W5 they removed kinfolk so there's that.
>>96850217>In W5 they removed kinfolk so there's that.But that's a bad thing.
>>96849363Make minor masquerade breaches until someone comes to investigate why a mortal knows so much. Then try to sell my knowledge of the universe, other splats and locations of important characters in exchange for an embrace
>>96849519>even doing white wolf days their books sold noticeably less and their chronicle nearly got canceled>even doing white wolf days their books sold noticeably less and their chronicle nearly got canceled

>>96850217What was wrong with Kinfolk?

>>96850251Implying it's not a masquerade coverup
>>96849519Proofread your posts.
>>96849502>>96849483>>96849454That sounds like ass. I really like the Harbingers as the Cappys in the shadows. Becoming more "wraith-pires" as a way of transcending the Kindred state, kind of like Enlightenment but downward. My thought was that Cappadocius himself did the Feast of Folly & left a bunch of undesirables behind while the chosen were sealed in the shadowlands to force their "evolution" into wraith-pires. That was to be the end of his Clan at least as far as Kindred society was concerned. Then he let Giovanni do his thing as a way of keeping some going in case of failure. Letting himself be diablerized was just more of his "all according to plan" goal of eventually devouring god
>>96850266If I die and don't run the script on a vps every day, then all this info is leaked publicly on all social media platforms through n8n job and 2 of my seedboxes. >>96849493Any auspice will work for the overall philosophy, but the anthropologist/historian angle is best represented with galliards. The real question you have to answer is where is your character finding this information, since Garou canon (excluding the Wendigo and Uktena) is that the other Fera are all Wyrm-fallen. As far as tribe, I'd go with Fianna. If you uncover an ancient song full of regret and despair that really tugs on the heartstrings, Fianna are the most emotional and likely to change their mind based on that alone.

>>96849007I chose it, so there'd be a reason to have built the character an entire new fake but legal identity and so on*, as well as being why he keeps a floor of his mixed-use three story brownstone in Queens as a temporary shelter for recent escapees as well. There was also that the Fetch had basically ruined his life anyways, it had fallen hard into substance abuse, and falling in front of a subway train was just the end of that a few years before he got out.*Hostile Takeover is a really handy contract if you need to get into, for example, state records offices and Social Security

>>96852952As far as oWoD is concerned I'm only really knowledgeable about Vampire, but that kind of stuff does annoy the shit out of me. Now sure, people are not universal, they're particular. They come from particular places and times, so Vampires, especially the young ones, are in part defined by these things. They may still have some loyalty to their nation, or ethnic group, or religion. Or they never had any. Or they had it, but they lost it after the embrace. But the issue that not a lot of VTM's material really confronts is that every vampire will, provided they unlive for long enough, see one, if not both of the following things happen:>The nation, culture, people, etc. they grew up die out.>Their nation, culture, people, etc. change so much over the centuries they find themselves strangers in their own hometown. And when it is Elders, who are 300 years dead at the youngest, that hold the majority of political power in the Kindred world, it seems silly things would neatly align with modern borders or more importantly, cultures and cultural movements. This is not to say every elder must or even should be an atavism forever trapped in the immediate zeitgeist of whatever culture they grew up in, not at all, but it feels very arbitrary and artificial when these ancient elders just happen to match up cleanly to modern borders. You should have atavisms, atavisms that are nevertheless very good at manipulating and taking advantage of the modern world, while at the same time only half understanding it.It's especially bad with the clans that are too thoroughly tied to an ethnic group. The Assamites are one of the 13 Clans, but they're so deeply tied to post-Muhammad middle eastern culture (said culture being at the oldest 1400-ish years old) it makes them feel blunt and unwieldy, and the anti-Islamist Haqimite faction is underbaked as a result. Granted, Assamite lore has and always will be a complete mess.
Hey, could Changelings (from Lost) take on a group of First Team fomori somehow? I imagine Mages could handle them easily but changelings tend to nope-out of most problems rather than facing them head-on.
>>96853212You make a good point but acknowledging it in a roleplaying game would require a series of mini-lessons on history and culture and geography that no player has time for.
>>96852456I will instead explain the common misconceptions about the Sects. >CamarillaThe Camarilla is far less tyrannical than its detractors say. It loves its aristocratic trappings, but that is largely the product of being formed in the very late 1400s. The abuses of power and political intrigue is less a product of the Camarilla's structure and more the result of Kindred nature. The Prince has checks and balances, the Primogen Council and the Justicars. Only very powerful Princes can get away with telling both to kick rocks, and that's a bug, not a feature. Quoting directly from Guide to the Camarilla, most Camarilla vampires are not terribly politically interested, and more often get dragged into it by others rather than actively pursuing it themselves. If your Prince isn't a deranged tyrant (which is definitely an IF), you can avoid most of the bullshit by keeping the traditions and not starting shit. >SabbatThe Sabbat is extremely poorly organized, to the point it's more of a confederation of everyone who rejects their humanity and has an axe to grind against the Camarilla and/or the Antediluvians. The Regent is a figurehead, who only has as much influence over the Sect as they have personal sway over Cardinals and Prisci. The Black Hand is a weird ass sect-within-a-sect fifth column that wipes its ass with the Sabbat's hierarchy. It took the Sabbat until the early 1900s to even attempt to form an agency to enforce orthodoxy, the Sabbat Inquisition, and it is famously inept. Nomadic packs are pretty much ungovernable. >AnarchsThere's a good argument that Anarchs shouldn't even count as a sect. Even in timelines where their numbers are big enough, they have no centralized authority, no definitive and documented philosophy. At best you get a nebulous "down with tyrannical elders". They're the vampiric third positionists, they're only really defined by a rejection of the Cam and Sabbat.
>>96853487So what's the use of the sabbat in meta terms? Just an underbaked villain faction they half-heartedly tried to make into a serious threat with the additional garnish of "they're right about 3rd gen"?
>>96853584Are you asking what the use in including an unambiguously evil kindred group to oppose the Camarilla and Anarchs?
>>96849190Rather hard, the splats are basically all running on their own flavor of what bullshit they can do well but when you see what Furry Hulk can do in combat there's no real comparison without making someone else OP instead. and then you go like>but muh disciplinesAnd then Wraiths literally walk through walls or turn dudes into guns or something, or mages doing their bullshit. It's very imba
>>96853584They're for vampire supremacists, basically chaotic evil to the camarilla's lawful evil.
>>96853584nta but the sabbat is on one side canon fooder and just gore punk on one side but on the other the sect can be deeply physiological about exploring the vampiric condition in a way nobody else in the setting cares to bethe problem is that white wolf married those two concepts so even the sabbat paths that aren't made to be violent blood crusaders on lsd still have to pay lipservice to the idea that they live together with violent blood crusaders on lsd in a sect where there is no law of protection beside the strong rule
>>96853584Reasonable Cainites in the Camarilla and Anarchs would never think of going to war over trivial shit. The Sabbat will. They're the antagonist faction if you want some actual warfare and conflict in your games. Of course, evil factions always get all of the cool shit, so people wanted to play them. This meant they needed actual rules and stuff to work with.
>>96853584In V5? They're just insane bad guys and ideologues. Otherwise they have potential value advocating for Kindred freedom against the yoke of elders (who are scum)>>96853619>ambiguously evilCammie propaganda. But yeah, they're evil

>>96853751peak blood absorption efficiency - shank a nigga and drink him dry in just a few moments.cainites should be jealous.
>>96853584Oh, I would call the Sabbat anything but underbaked. Its schizophrenia is the result of trying to forge an identity out of something that started as NPC antagonists that are part of some deranged, violent, pseudoreligious cult. As time went on, they just gave the Sabbat anything "inhuman" that didn't fall under the shtick of the independent clans. But I think it actually works, even if unintentional. A dumpster fire is still a fire, very dangerous. Just because the organization is a mess does not mean there aren't competent people within it. Even if we take the Sabbat at their absolute worst, a loose horde of inhuman monsters... that's still a threat. Much as we might like to think otherwise, history is littered with tales of powerful, mighty civilizations brought low or outright destroyed by less advanced peoples they considered little more than shit-flinging savages. Not to mention, the Sabbat can be engaging as more than just a threat. What happens when the worst vamps you know have at least one good point? Maybe you're a Tremere stuck in the pyramid and the vinculum is the only way out. Maybe you were burned by your sire, and you want revenge but can't get your allies in-sect. Defections to the Sabbat happen for a reason, it's not just violent idiots. Perhaps the looser power structure can benefit you, perhaps you've come to the conclusion Noddism is right and we have to stop the Antediluvians. There's also the simple fact that the Sabbat can be quite tempting if you just want to cut loose and let your beast off the chain.

>>96853971There are mages with actual meme magic. Even an old school Hermetic could probably find some way to bullshit and make you shit your pants.
>>96853388Well you're in luck, because it's pretty easy to make a nWoD equivalent to Fomori. Forsaken created a generic version of Fomori called Claimed, humans and spirits fused into one. Claimed are like humans with boosted stats and a smattering of dread powers from the spirit that claimed them. I'd say that most Fomori would be best represented with people claimed by Rank 1 and 2 Spirits, which is definitely manageable. Hunters could win that fight with proper tactics. For the Lost, you gotta remember that even in 1e where their template was kind weak unless you got into some advanced pledgecrafting, and more oriented towards being tricksy and evasive, they are still dudes with supernatural powers. A combat specced Ogre can still unga smash things, and they have the tools to drag some Fomori into very unfavorable engagements.
>>96848623Banality 8 and proud
>>96853634>>96853812I feel at that point the sects are really just young vamp games that they take too seriously. Sounds tiring all in all
How does paradox backlash and coincidental vs vulgar magic work? If a mage is showing a spell to another mage of the same paradigm while they're both in a protected lair will it still count as vulgar?
Most chronicles I run tend not to have much combat. But I was going through the storytellers guide to the sabbat and the first adventure it gives you has upwards of twenty guys the players are supposed to face, of which half are supposed to be vampires. Even to my inexperienced eye that seems a bit unbalanced
>>96854263even people who only know about the supernatural might not count as witness for vulgar magic so even your society of leopold hunter might not trigger paradox when you throw a fireball at him unless he is a total rookiehowever there is magic that is categorized as vulgar even without witnesses which will cause paradox even if you are alone in a pocket dimension
>>96854295Would that be a collapse or tearing of dimensional walls? I can't think of much that's more apparent.
>>96854271oWoD in general isn't very well balanced. That and the encounter was probably balanced with the expectation that your typical Sabbat PC pack would be 3 dudes with a collective celerity rating of 13, and one Tzimisce who "mother may I" his way into having 5 Szlachta.
>>96854295Does that also apply to the umbra?
Does anyone find Nunehei cannot access the Dreaming and instead can step sideways into the Umbra to be interesting or even useful in their Chronicles? Now you can't have Indians in your Neverland. What the fuck is Changelings problem with allowing any part of the setting to interact with it?
>>96854263Depends on how your ST runs the game. Stuff like time travel is supposed to be vulgar even if there's no witnesses, just by its nature. For other stuff, your ST might rule that it's based on sleeper witnesses, or that it's based on witnesses period, or that the universe itself is a witness.
>>96854125If vampirism isn't tiresome, you're doing it wrong. Seems like a great deal at first, but all the other vampires, and bullshit in the night, and the annoying logistics of living forever all pile up until you're the same jaded Elder you used to bitch about. And that's if you're lucky/smart and don't get dusted before you hit 100, which is the fate of many vampires. In order to just tell the sects to go fuck themselves without a lot of writer-given plot armor that is , you would need to be very powerful, both personally and in terms of your connections, resources, minions, etc. Actually building that sort of power base is next to impossible now that the sects are 500 or so years old. Even if you're some Methuselah that built your base 1000 years ago, and you haven't lost it yet, it's much easier to just pay lip-service to whatever sect your clan is mostly in so they'll leave you alone. The only other option is to eschew power entirely and try to avoid the Jyhad. The problem there is that you have no serious allies, no protection from the big boys. Even the mightiest Methuselah isn't invulnerable, without other vampires you can band together with if the going gets tough, your unlifespan is drastically shortened. So yeah, the sects are tiring. But it's either that or live a very difficult and probably short unlife. It's vampire government, in short.

>>96854902The sire is a tease who equally wants to dote on him and love him but who also wants him to squirm and writhe. The Lasombra bane with a high appearance is interesting because part of the reason he was turned was because the sire wanted to ruin such an adorable young lad fresh on an internship (sort of like some nos), and keep his image all to herself. He isn't the first boytoy she made and tossed into the night who met an unfortunate end. The sire is equally fine with him dying horribly as she is with him succeeding so it's a mix of protection and doom. She enjoys him experiencing joy as much as she enjoys his tears. As far as I know, and as far as I've planned/written it, she gets her kicks this way as a yandere sadist who drives the unfortunate with future prospects to their deaths. Normally they would get tested first and then embraced, she embraces first and then ruins them but maybe she'll help here and there. She is intended to be an oddball Lasombra who ruins people after they get turned, and since she's high ranking and powerful, no one says anything. Might give her a fifth dot in mentor, honestly. He was hired as an intern with a job offer too good to refuse and too good to be true, and it was. The job offer basically makes him a private accountant for the business the sire is running and was an excuse to get close to him and turn him. In reality he has no job duties outside of the bare minimum (which is why he gets 0 financial backing) because her retainer already takes care of it. Literal unpaid intern. As for phone, I was going to make him use a stylus rather than his fingers. The stylus is designed to work with the screen without touch so he can swipe and input a number password as normal. Not sure why more lasombra don't just get a galaxy note with the stylus. Your fault for being apple drones.
I'm playing a GW lupus Ahroun who ended up–cause of tribe shenanigans and spiritual repentance–as muscle for a BF-managed women's shelter. In the void of abstract narrative possibilities, I'm kinda playing in my mind with the possibility of some NPC at the shelter trying to somewhat come onto him, because- Dunno, seems like the only male figure around, in a protective role, but with a constant aura of threat and kept-at-bay violence, could be enticing on the ground of disfunctional-similarity-with-a-violent-partner alone, more so with a high-ish Primal Urge- As a 4 year old lupus he literally doesn't have the cultural framework to understand how that would be wrong and would most likely go along with it- The fallout of that (pack-wise, Caern-wise, but even the human side of it) could be really interesting to play outSeem like the exact kind of tragic, dark shit that WoD is supposed to be built upon, but:- I'm not nearly good enough of a roleplayer to sustain that in the actual game- I don't think that the table (ST included) would enjoy thatOh well, what could have been I guess.

None of them foolproof, but overlap them and then add the countermeasures by all other splats with an interest in keeping things quiet...
>>96855350>the whole bestiality aspectI mean, the table doesn't shy from "And then I go to the bar to hook up" as a fade to black. And it's not even about technicalities of the knotting, because the problem is not much a lupus breed garou getting with humans in homid form, more like playing out how an abuse victim would repeat patterns by pursuing an inherently violent garou, how the aforementioned garou wouldn't understand the implications of such a disfunctional relationship (in a way that would be kinda sorta unwittingly mirroring some abuser behaviour), and how that would create all kinds of problems because it would be happening right into the Black Furies' turf who would probably not be very happy about it.

>>96855411>It depends how abusive your character is I supposeNot much. I mean, he's an ahroun so inherently violent but not intentionally abusive and has had enough GW training to be able to navigate bystander humanity at a functional level. Although the situation would have a whole lot of dark corners to explore:> A person being so used to relationships being based on violence to look for familiarity of that violence (which at Rage 8 or 9 is like, instintively palpable) as a point of stability after escaping an abusive relationship. That coming from somebody with a "protector" role would probably help masking the pattern.> A lupus not being able to get most of the intricacies of that and navigating it at the instinctual level of a mate-bond, without understanding the feelings involved on the other person's part, and probably not even his own's. All the while having a Rage high enough to be prone at the very least to dangerous outbursts if stressed (which could happen in such as disfunctional situation)- The Furies thrown in the mixBut again, it's a fun thought experiment and something that would be interesting to write about in a narrative scenario, but it's probably to heavy to be played out at an average table.
>>96855462might be a kino scenario for a Hunter villain/monster sighting but as a player I think that level of roleplay at a table might not blow over the best, though it doesn't hurt to ask. It isn't a bad idea but it also depends how exactly you plan on RP'ing it, there's plenty of situations like that in movies though I feel like they usually end in a double suicide or someone dying Though I feel as if this sort of dynamic is pretty common in smut works which may cause it to be weird if you roleplay it that way

The greatest secret which appears in no religious doctrine and is found nowhere in the world's overburdened library of myths and fabled, nor receives the slightest mention in any philosopher's system or scientist's speculation. The greatest secret, perhaps the only secret, is that the universe, all of creation, owes its existence to a degenerate little town. And if it were possible to strip away the scenery that surrounds us, to pull up the landscape of every planet, to rip away the skies and shove aside the stars and suns, to tear from ourselves our own flesh, and delve deep into our bones, we would find it standing there eternal; the origin of all things visible or invisible; the source of everything that is or can be: this degenerate little town. And then we would discover its twisted streets and tilting houses, its decaying ground and rotting sky, and with our own eyes we would see the diseased faces peeking from grimy windows. Then we would realize why it is such a secret, the greatest and most vile secret, this degenerate little town where everything began, and from whose core of corruption everything seeps out.
>>96856282From the beginning, if there was a beginning, this degenerate little town has become evermore degenerate. Its streets more twisted, its houses more tilting, its ground more decayed, its sky more rotten. Those faces behind evermore grimy windows have become evermore diseased, and in the end... but there can never be an end for this degenerate little town, no more than an end will ever come for the worlds that have seeped out of it. For everything we can know is degenerate from the beginning. Everything becomes more twisted and tilting, more diseased and decayed, rotting from the very sky. This is the law of things, if there can be any law in a world in a universe that has its source in origin and a degenerate little town, which has been degenerate for the beginning, if there was a beginning, and will go on with its degeneration. Its ceaseless twisting and tilting, its disease and decay, its infinite shades of rottenness, forever, and without end.
>>96856289We can not help but wonder, in our most perverse moments, what it would be like to inhabit this degenerate little town, where the sky is forever dripping its rottenness like rain. To be among those faces that are diseased faces, eternally diseased faces, eternally peeking through the glass of grimy windows and out into twisted streets lined with tilting houses in a town that is forever degenerating and will be degenerating forever. We cannot help but wonder, in our most perverse moments, as we look through bleary eyes and see the stars that seem to form so many twisting roads through the blackness, or feel our flesh rotting upon our bones... and yet we can only wonder, we can only whisper, or cry out in our dreams, "Oh, where is the way to this degenerate little town?"
>>96856291There are those among us who claim to have seen this degenerate little town, although they may be unaware of its true nature. There are those who have emerged from some painful ordeal of the body or of the mind, and then become speaking of how they saw, in the distance, an outline of crooked houses tilting this way and that, or walked along some twisted street and felt the ground soft with decay beneath their steps, or even glimpsed those diseased faces, their skin rough and pale as plaster, peeking from behind grimy windows. But those who claim to have seen such things always seem to tell a somewhat different story, failing to compose a consistent picture of what they may have seen, or imagined they have seen. And so we stare at them suspiciously for a moment, and then start to walk away, leaving them to their lives or their illusions, which of course are the very essence of this degenerate little town.
>>96856197Moros mage finding weird things while traveling through Stygia. People, place, and things like an 8-track player.
>>96856294Where is this place, this degenerate little town, and who are its creators? Such questions are inevitable, a matter of course whenever a world knowledge is attained about anything, nevermind the greatest secret, the greatest mystery. Are there seasons in the land of this town? Is there springtime in which great rains pour down, day and night, from that rotting sky? Are there sultry summers that lay a heavy stillness upon those twisted streets? And what of its Autumn, which must be so succulent with all the colors of decay? Do the winters there in this degenerate little town pile their weighty snows upon the peaks of those tilting houses? So many questions about this secret place, but as long as such questions are asked, and countless answers are offered, the greatest secret will always remain protected, for no questions will ever be asked, no answers will ever be allowed concerning those diseased faces that have gazed forever behind the glass of grimy windows.
>>96856301Like every phenomenon that we cannot fully phase, this degenerate little town must remain occult and its essence, and serve as a limit for such as we care to know about what is beyond the blackness of night or what is deep in our bones. For, like everything else we've actually come to face, this degenerate little town can only pain us, adding to our lives a mere surplus of the pains that we have so well throughout the agonized ages of a degenerate creation. But like no other phenomenon that we have ever faced, this degenerate little town, under its rotting sky, standing upon decayed ground, a landscape of a pain that is like no other, may be our last hope, the only hope we have of killing all the hopes we have ever had and murdering every mystery we have ever cherished, so that we may step forth, finally, into that great shining Kingdom of which we've always dreamed.
>>96856304It may be quite likely that we are grotesquely mistaken to think there is anything special, anything remarkable at all, about this degenerate little town. Far from being the greatest secret, the worst to the finest of all our dreams, it may be quite likely the greatest common place, the supreme banality. Consider the possibility. Who has not found himself beneath the rotting sky, broken and rotting from what has been heaved up to it during every epoch of this Earth, this ground that is miles deep with the decay of anything that has ever lived upon it? Who has not travelled through twisted streets and under the shadow of houses? Even the straightest of which, if our eyes could only see it, is veering towards the tilt. As for diseased faces, we are ever-prevailing to the point of embarrassment. And so much for this civic marvel that is beyond the blackness of night, or resides deep in our bones. Yet, if this is the case. as it quite likely may be, what remains for us in universe nothing special, nothing of any account, let alone the saving miracle of this degenerate little town?
>>96856305It seems entirely natural that, should anyone gain full knowledge of this degenerate little town, they would deny the truth of this greatest, most terrible of secrets. and, as a consequence, as an act of self-protection, would fabricate some other set of circumstances, a more companionable picture of the way of things. This would explain so many of the deranged idles and beliefs that have arisen in our world. At least we would be able to account for the multitudes of "mannequin saviors", as one might view them, their faces smooth and serene behind display windows, welcoming the faithful who, upon their death, will enter a department store paradise of the most vague and intangible delights. And some mention must be made of what might be called the "sect of the puppet lands", whose highly deranged adherence posit a transcended universe of infinite and harmless antics that are imperfectly mirrored in the chaos and crises of our own world, which, in any case, will end nicely when the great puppet play is concluded in a sweet bedtime of slumber until the next show begins. Yet, who would begrudge anyone their denials or alternate renderings of the twisted streets and tilting houses, the diseased faces and a grimy windows of this degenerate little town, which itself seems so perfectly bleak, so in tune with the world we know, forever inclined to ever-greater degeneracy, that even the few enlightened ones among us sometimes doubt it to be real?
>>96856308We sometimes imagine that we have heard voices, strange and harsh voices faintly calling from beyond the blackness of night, or from deep in our bones. And even if there are no actual words, no actual language we know in which the voices speak, still, there is a terrible understanding delivered into our world that only a few may comprehend and none would desire. For this understanding, this message of strange, harsh voices from beyond the blackness of night, or from deep in our bones, declared that this degenerate little town, that greatest of secrets, is only a façade or a mirage. A picturesque lie or illusion in the guise of twisted streets and tilting houses, all the rottenness and disease which we sense is the source of all of the things we know or can never know, when in fact there is something else altogether. Something which none could comprehend or desire to comprehend, yet which they cannot fail to hear when it slips through the sounds of those strange and harsh voices, when it drifts through during the briefest moments of silence and from beyond the blackness of night or from deep in our bones - comes forth as the hollow resonance of a most dismal laughter.
>>96856301>>96856304>>96856305>>96856308>>96856314How the town pussy game be tho?
>>96856314Even though there is no evidence that a degenerate little town forms the greatest secret and is the source of all the things we know, its truth and its existence remain assured. And there do seem to be certain indications, certain aspects and elements of our lives that in no uncertain terms inform us of one fact: sooner or later, we will find ourselves in this degenerate little town, whether we wish to go there or not. Because, when the sky begins to darken as if rotting before our eyes, and when our bones begin to change, going soft with decay, we know that all the ways of our lives have been leading us and can only lead us to this degenerate little town. And then we may understand that everything around us, everything within us, has a direct point of contact to that secret place, that source of all things. Dreams for instance - the dreams of our sleep wherein every mind is destined to go twisted and tilting into lands of swift magic. These dreams alone would make the case if anything were ever needed in the way of evidence. These dreams alone would put us in close view of those grimy windows, behind which diseased faces peek out behind the glass, as if they are waiting for someone to arrive, as if they're waiting for everyone, sooner or later, to enter their little town.

ravnos really get a domain expansion huh? pretty cool, pretty cool

Help understand Geist. So basically, you died, but you made a contract with a Geist. A Geist is a ghost that’s existed for so long that’s its human identity has long since vanished, leaving only a “Monster” ghost. This Geist makes a contract with you so it can remember what it’s like being human. It basically function as an Ascension Mage and their Avatar, but you can only have access to “ghost-related” powers.Am I correct?
>>96856496How about a story about a awkward Japanese guy going to school, but all of his classmates are supernatural monsters!!! A broody gothic lolita vampiress, a tech savvy but very shy Demon, a tomboy Red Talon, a Promethean girl with big tits, that causes calamity when she gets flustered, a yandere Beast girl that molests the other girls with tentacles because they deserve it, etc.And somehow they all end up living together??!!?? What kinda of hijinks will this guy have to deal with? It's okay though, his parents secretly come from a long line of Hunters & he knows that with a little luck he just might be able to tame these wild ladies!!!

>STILL haven’t discovered I’m Kinfolk by being ravaged by a shewoof in her war form and then taken to a Black Fury breeding camp where they force me to lift weights and eat big and consume lots of oysters for their zinc content so I make big cummies to produce more woofs *sigh*…
>>96856764I have bad news for you. There are no Kinfolk in W5.
>>96856768No… no, God, please, no… no…NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
would the camarilla tolerate two rival princes who try to take the rest of the city from each other as long as they don't break the masquarade?
>>96856637>>96856639>>96856645It's actually mostly done, just that converting Blood Magic as it is in Masquerade is almost as long as the rest of the book combined.
>>96856828oh neat.did you convert the disciplines or did you turn them into devotions?
>>96856828Are gargoyles covered?
>>96856810As long as it doesn't lead the city falling into the hands of the Anarchs or the Sabbat, sure. If the Camarilla are in danger of losing an important city to the enemy because of these shenanigans, a justicar might be sent in to say "hey, knock this shit off" and appoint the Inner Circle's favourite as the one true prince.
>>96856898I converted over all the unique disciplines, fuck V5 amalgaming everything. The common disciplines are mostly as they are in Requiem 2e, with some tweaks or altered powers to reflect the Masquerade setting. I took a shitload of elder powers and made them Devotions. I made optional rules for 6+ dots in disciplines, wherein those extra dots give you free devotions if you want your elders a bit oomphier. There's a lot of optional rules, some in sidebars, some with their own dedicated section. It's a conversion guide after all. Don't like how Requiem vamps take less damage from sunlight unless they're high blood potency, low humanity? Here's a flat sunlight damage rating. That kind of stuff.>>96856910Gargoyles in their playable bloodline form are in, so is Visceratika. The main gargoyle creation ritual is in, but I haven't put it on the PDF yet. If demand is high I'll adapt the other types of gargoyle creation rituals from House of Tremere.
>>96857071is there a link for the work in progress? i was thinking about doing something like this myself (mostly as a excuse to make vtr style bloodlines for vtm clans) but never really got around to it
>>96857181No, and truth be told I'm a little self-conscious about posting a WIP since it's unfinished, hasn't gone through a final editing pass and more importantly, art. I'm also a little unsure about how I formatted it (never made a PDF before) but 270+ pages in and it's a little too late to go back now. If you really want to see a WIP (basic rules, clans/bloodlines, disciplines/devotions, and merits and flaws are effectively done), I could post it.
>>96855332Failed a Rage roll and Frenzied. He's coming down from it but wrecked his house and probably came close to ripping and tearing his girlfriend to shreds. Kinfolk are used to the abuse though, and she has to be the one to comfort him.
