Like a talisman or trinket that measures the Humanity or equivalent (or some other trait like Willpower) of those it scans, or a rote that replicates the effect of Daimonion's first dot.

Werewolves have truces with vampires in many places. New York City and Vancouver for example. Leeches are actually one of the smallest concerns for the Garou and as long as the vamps aren't actively aiding Pentex or anything Wyrm related, the two can avoid each other entirely. What works best when approaching them is power. If it's clear that a war or battle between the leeches and Garou will end on phyric terms, they'll be more amenable. What's even better is the offer to pursue a common goal. If any laws of the Litany apply to a vampire is entirely dependant on the Sept in question, their feelings and traditions. But to most there'a only one that's applicable; combat the Wyrm, wherever it dwells and whenever it breeds. Don't go in thinking you'll find a way to out-lawyer a philodox.

Elaborating on this, I'd also make both werewolves and witches more "grounded". I'd completely toss out the Noble Savage medicine man thing that Werewolf: the Apocalypse and Werewolf: the Forsaken do. And witchcraft would be a practice, instead of something inherently different about the character.

If your Gangrel tried to be cute and challenge someone to an honor duel, they'd be rebuffed as having none, at the very least, and would likely end up just getting killed. Just like Kindred culture is for Kindred, Garou culture is set up for Garou.

Tzim: considers his ghouls "family" (in the same way people consider their dogs and cats family).
Gangrel: His mom and dad are around but he rarely gets to see them, even though he genuinely reveres them. There's his "adopted" family, whom he respects but dislikes.
Zhong Mokole: Lots of sisters he loves deeply. Yes, it's exactly what you assume.
Etherite: Has a Technocrat who considers him a failed experiment but still wants to bring him to the "right side."
Ecstatic: Adopted sister and a little niece. She hopes they never ever awaken.
Verbena: Crystal new age hippie mom. After awakening and joining real witch covens she realized how cringe her mom is, but loves her nonetheless and even tried to get a crone to help her awaken.
Euthanatos: Mom and brother, Hunters. They hate Mages, but have never faced anything beyond beginner level hollow/orphans.
Hermetic: grandma is a somewhat respected Hermetic too. They "like" each other except when it comes to in-tradition academic bullshit.
Wraith girl: Mom who killed her in a really bad case of Munchausen by proxy.
Wraith guy: Daughter who survived an gang (cult) attack him and his wife didn't.

Still sees the guy who taught him everything he knows about being a good burglar as an uncle.

Lost Fairest Mirrorskin: His fetch died to what was unclear to be either an accident or suicide while he was in the Hedge, and he came out a lot shorter and highly androgynous compared to his "leading man" Broadway star looks he had when taken, so he surreptitiously checks on his parents but hasn't tried to contact them.

How difficult is it to run a multi-sourcebook campaign? I want to run WoD again, but no two of my players want to run the same splat. If I keep the campaign a bit shorter than usual, is it possible to balance, say, vampire, werewolf and changeling?

it's far less painful if you use NWoD/Chronicles 2E books, significantly more delicate if you want to use OWoD. This sort of thing it's a good idea to talk to your players extensively to get them on the same page as, especially in OWoD there can be very different levels of abilities - if your vampire wants to be a combat character, they're going to feel bad next to a werewolf.

There's a lot of easy tricks to take. Ive gone over them extensively in the past. One thats pretty amazing is Path of Conjuration. Create bombs. There isn't much thats explosion proof & at high levels you can make a brick of C4 or a white phosphorus bomb (extra flamey) thats as big as you are. With a few dots in Science you can make pocket nukes or a demon core. Use the CCTV ritual on a little drone camera & fly that to the enemy. You can cast magic through it so you could say... use Conjuration to blow shit up & make walls, or Path of Blood to drain all the vitae out of a victim while a mile away. Take Necromancy Path of Skulls (finding a teacher might involve sucking your STs dick) but its capstone ability allows you to eat the skull of another to gain a trait of theirs. This means you can get max stats will some research & a shovel. Take the witchcraft merit to make Luck amulets/potions/circles to gain bonuses to all your really hard to make rolls.

Use path of Mercury to teleport & stay on the move. Not being somewhere is the best defense. Its also nice to waltz into the enemies layer, conjure a bomb & then teleport out.

Path of Spirit Manipulation & some work can let you turn into a werewolf & learn werewolf gifts. It can also let you swallow a Bane & become better than most vampires.

Pathbof the Focused Mind allows you to use two sorceries at once so that means you can drain a guy with Path of Blood twice as fast, or whatever else you might want to do

Path of the Divine Hand let's you crush dudes halfway across the world

Path of Warding let's you put wards on objects to do damage to everything thats not you that touches it. Put them on your clothes, your weapon, every inch of your haven. Or better yet put them on a bunch of coins or rocks or whatever then use Movement of the Mind to slap them all on someone. Instantly a fuck ton of damage

One of the best rituals is Engaging the Vessel of Transference. Prep three bottles, walk up to somebody & tap them with each one. Instant 3rd level Blood Bond, why even need Dominate? It also let's youbfeed without getting bloody. Just tap someone in a dance club or whatever & its instantly in you. Use Principle Focus of Vitae Infusion & turn a ton of coins or little glass beads into portable vitae snacks. My thought was that Cappadocius himself did the Feast of Folly & left a bunch of undesirables behind while the chosen were sealed in the shadowlands to force their "evolution" into wraith-pires. Any auspice will work for the overall philosophy, but the anthropologist/historian angle is best represented with galliards. The real question you have to answer is where is your character finding this information, since Garou canon (excluding the Wendigo and Uktena) is that the other Fera are all Wyrm-fallen. As far as tribe, I'd go with Fianna. If you uncover an ancient song full of regret and despair that really tugs on the heartstrings, Fianna are the most emotional and likely to change their mind based on that alone.

Now sure, people are not universal, they're particular. They come from particular places and times, so Vampires, especially the young ones, are in part defined by these things. They may still have some loyalty to their nation, or ethnic group, or religion. Or they never had any. Or they had it, but they lost it after the embrace. But the issue that not a lot of VTM's material really confronts is that every vampire will, provided they unlive for long enough, see one, if not both of the following things happen:

>Their nation, culture, people, etc. change so much over the centuries they find themselves strangers in their own hometown.

And when it is Elders, who are 300 years dead at the youngest, that hold the majority of political power in the Kindred world, it seems silly things would neatly align with modern borders or more importantly, cultures and cultural movements. This is not to say every elder must or even should be an atavism forever trapped in the immediate zeitgeist of whatever culture they grew up in, not at all, but it feels very arbitrary and artificial when these ancient elders just happen to match up cleanly to modern borders. You should have atavisms, atavisms that are nevertheless very good at manipulating and taking advantage of the modern world, while at the same time only half understanding it.

It's especially bad with the clans that are too thoroughly tied to an ethnic group. The Assamites are one of the 13 Clans, but they're so deeply tied to post-Muhammad middle eastern culture (said culture being at the oldest 1400-ish years old) it makes them feel blunt and unwieldy, and the anti-Islamist Haqimite faction is underbaked as a result. Granted, Assamite lore has and always will be a complete mess.

The Camarilla is far less tyrannical than its detractors say. It loves its aristocratic trappings, but that is largely the product of being formed in the very late 1400s. The abuses of power and political intrigue is less a product of the Camarilla's structure and more the result of Kindred nature. The Prince has checks and balances, the Primogen Council and the Justicars. Only very powerful Princes can get away with telling both to kick rocks, and that's a bug, not a feature. Quoting directly from Guide to the Camarilla, most Camarilla vampires are not terribly politically interested, and more often get dragged into it by others rather than actively pursuing it themselves. If your Prince isn't a deranged tyrant (which is definitely an IF), you can avoid most of the bullshit by keeping the traditions and not starting shit.

The Sabbat is extremely poorly organized, to the point it's more of a confederation of everyone who rejects their humanity and has an axe to grind against the Camarilla and/or the Antediluvians. The Regent is a figurehead, who only has as much influence over the Sect as they have personal sway over Cardinals and Prisci. The Black Hand is a weird ass sect-within-a-sect fifth column that wipes its ass with the Sabbat's hierarchy. It took the Sabbat until the early 1900s to even attempt to form an agency to enforce orthodoxy, the Sabbat Inquisition, and it is famously inept. Nomadic packs are pretty much ungovernable.

There's a good argument that Anarchs shouldn't even count as a sect. Even in timelines where their numbers are big enough, they have no centralized authority, no definitive and documented philosophy. Oh, I would call the Sabbat anything but underbaked. Its schizophrenia is the result of trying to forge an identity out of something that started as NPC antagonists that are part of some deranged, violent, pseudoreligious cult. As time went on, they just gave the Sabbat anything "inhuman" that didn't fall under the shtick of the independent clans.

But I think it actually works, even if unintentional. A dumpster fire is still a fire, very dangerous. Just because the organization is a mess does not mean there aren't competent people within it. Even if we take the Sabbat at their absolute worst, a loose horde of inhuman monsters... that's still a threat. Much as we might like to think otherwise, history is littered with tales of powerful, mighty civilizations brought low or outright destroyed by less advanced peoples they considered little more than shit-flinging savages.

Well you're in luck, because it's pretty easy to make a nWoD equivalent to Fomori. Forsaken created a generic version of Fomori called Claimed, humans and spirits fused into one. Claimed are like humans with boosted stats and a smattering of dread powers from the spirit that claimed them. I'd say that most Fomori would be best represented with people claimed by Rank 1 and 2 Spirits, which is definitely manageable. Hunters could win that fight with proper tactics.

For the Lost, you gotta remember that even in 1e where their template was kind weak unless you got into some advanced pledgecrafting, and more oriented towards being tricksy and evasive, they are still dudes with supernatural powers. A combat specced Ogre can still unga smash things, and they have the tools to drag some Fomori into very unfavorable engagements.

Seems like a great deal at first, but all the other vampires, and bullshit in the night, and the annoying logistics of living forever all pile up until you're the same jaded Elder you used to bitch about. In order to just tell the sects to go fuck themselves without a lot of writer-given plot armor that is , you would need to be very powerful, both personally and in terms of your connections, resources, minions, etc. Actually building that sort of power base is next to impossible now that the sects are 500 or so years old. Even if you're some Methuselah that built your base 1000 years ago, and you haven't lost it yet, it's much easier to just pay lip-service to whatever sect your clan is mostly in so they'll leave you alone. The only other option is to eschew power entirely and try to avoid the Jyhad. The problem there is that you have no serious allies, no protection from the big boys. Even the mightiest Methuselah isn't invulnerable, without other vampires you can band together with if the going gets tough, your unlifespan is drastically shortened.

So yeah, the sects are tiring. But it's either that or live a very difficult and probably short unlife. It's vampire government, in short.

The sire is a tease who equally wants to dote on him and love him but who also wants him to squirm and writhe. The Lasombra bane with a high appearance is interesting because part of the reason he was turned was because the sire wanted to ruin such an adorable young lad fresh on an internship (sort of like some nos), and keep his image all to herself. He isn't the first boytoy she made and tossed into the night who met an unfortunate end. As far as I know, and as far as I've planned/written it, she gets her kicks this way as a yandere sadist who drives the unfortunate with future prospects to their deaths. As for phone, I was going to make him use a stylus rather than his fingers. The stylus is designed to work with the screen without touch so he can swipe and input a number password as normal.

I'm playing a GW lupus Ahroun who ended up–cause of tribe shenanigans and spiritual repentance–as muscle for a BF-managed women's shelter.

In the void of abstract narrative possibilities, I'm kinda playing in my mind with the possibility of some NPC at the shelter trying to somewhat come onto him, because

- Dunno, seems like the only male figure around, in a protective role, but with a constant aura of threat and kept-at-bay violence, could be enticing on the ground of disfunctional-similarity-with-a-violent-partner alone, more so with a high-ish Primal Urge
- As a 4 year old lupus he literally doesn't have the cultural framework to understand how that would be wrong and would most likely go along with it
- The fallout of that (pack-wise, Caern-wise, but even the human side of it) could be really interesting to play out

Seem like the exact kind of tragic, dark shit that WoD is supposed to be built upon, but:

- I'm not nearly good enough of a roleplayer to sustain that in the actual game
- I don't think that the table (ST included) would enjoy that
