TQ: How would you rank GW's games?
>>
Book should be leaked by saturday

What are you hopin your team gets? All I want is for animosity to go away
>>
>>96850764
Necromunda pals, I have a few questions about specialists and genestealer cults.
The rules for genestealer cults don't mention specialists, but they say one guy can take a special weapon, does that mean he's a specialist? can he spend XP like one? The rules say new neophyte hybrids can take special weapons as they are added, does this mean they can be specialists as they want for free? what if a ganger rolls a "become a specialist" advancement? does he become 20 creds more expensive for no gain?
>>
>>96850783
I just hope everybody has fun.
>>
>>96850783
I want the Yhetee to be able to throw beer boars
>>
>>96850808
Alright after extensive googling, I think I got it, they're from before specialists were a defined thing, so their rules are pretty bespoke, RAW, "specialist" only means you get to spend experience like you want, special weapons have nothing to do with it, however, this leads to special weapon spam so its recommended you bolt on newer specialist rules, with one free specialist at the start of the game, and only specialists being able to take special weapons.
>>
/v/ related question, but does third season means Blood bowl 3 is now out of date?
>>
>>96850783
I want Chaos Chosen to gain some starting skills
>>
>>96850808
>>96850976
RAW they are not specialist and you can spam Special Weapon. But you came up with the normal, rational house rule.

Welcome to Specialist Games, where people joined because they can't get position at 40k department, and can't wait for a transfer. Necromunda was written by so many people nobody cares or give a fuck what's going on. Game didn't have any FAQ for a long time now, because no one at GW play this. And they had a moron making the FAQ too, it's an image so you can't even search for the words normally.
>>
>>96850783
I hope goblins get something cool with the new Devious Skills.
>>
>>96851056
Reason why you get strange interactions like the Magnacles.
The rules for the thing even in the new book just say it need to do an attack action. No need to hit or wound. Forcing the opponent to make an initiative test.
So you could use some Concussion carbine and give your opponet some -2 initiative and send some rookie missile with some Magnacles to lock models in place to prevent them from moving, shooting, charging.
>>
>>96850989
Blood Bowl 3 apparently won't be using the updated rules until sometime next year, or at least that's the last I heard. That means it will still be using the latest 2020 edition rules for a time after the new season of tabletop comes out
>>
why doesnt brutefun sell his dark elves anymore?
>>
>>96851284
Nearly ever Squat hand weapon has the Power Pack rule, which is so vaguely written it's unclear if it works like a regular melee weapon and replaces unarmed attacks or if its additional attack works if the model already has two hand weapons.
>>
>>96852052
I think it's pretty clear it works like a sidearm, +1 attack that uses the power pack weapon
>>
>>96852052
If you use the Power pack weapon as your main weapon you didn't get the +1 attack. Only when "in addition to any other weapon"

What caused a shit ton of youtubers to randomly make 'Zoomers love Mordheim actually' videos randomly specifically about a year ago?
Also, what Broheim warbands are worth whitelisting for a home campaign?
>>
Painting plastic Morannon orcs right now. Not only they are terrible sculpts and I hate them, but they have so much fucking metal and so many tiny pieces of armor that doing edge highlighting is pretty difficult, especially because metallic colors behave like crap when you try to thin them. Maybe I'm just shit at metallics, but I hate how they're looking, too little contrast.
Perhaps some kind of weird NMM is better for this? I don't know, it's probably my fault, it's not all on the sculpts, but man they look like crap.

>Mordheim
"Grimdark" is perfect for manchild and teenagers who want to be the modern day edgelords.
>>
>>96852791

We play 1A-1C. I think Maneaters are pretty tough to fight early on but if they take losses it's pretty costly. I also found fighting Shadow Warriors pretty obnoxious.
>>
>>96850783
I would like to see Black Orc's get a nice buff, nothing much maybe an extra movement or something else to help them out. i I get they are meant to be slow but movement 4 just results of other teams just easily outpacing them.

Looking forward to seeing what they do with Humans, I hope they give allot of what's considered bad teams buffs.
>>
Did GW ever make the different variants of space marines battlebarge and strike cruiser (Mk1, Mk2, etc)? or you were supposed to only use the same miniature? i know a that mostly chaos and imperials had modular ships and stuff like light cruiser and escorts had their different variants modeled, but what about the other factions?
>>
>>96852052
Yeah PPW is very poorly written and can be easily misinterpreted. I agree with >>96852200 interpretation as it makes the most sense after going over it previously. PPWs are weapons you can take in excess to your normal weapon limit, with a cap of 2 of them. They all have Sidearm or Melee and follow the normal rules for those, I.e. Twin Guns Blazing or close combat etc. They can be used in excess of normal weapon limits for melee in which case they give +1A using that weapon profile, otherwise they can be used normally as a Melee or Sidearm in close combat and follow the rules for that but don't get that +1A.

The biggest issue with PPWs is that GW decided to add the Circular Stone Saw as an option for everyone which is great, but then only put one on the accessory sprue meaning you only get 2 from the whole accessory box. That is some absolute bullshit.
>>
>>96852702
Mordheim has always kind of been floating around, but what would have triggered a resurgence of attention is The Old World releasing which sparked discussion of the potential return of other WHFB ancillary/spin-off games. That or probably more general discussion around skirmish games in a similar vein to Mordheim. It only takes one video being successful for the algorithm to pick it up and the vultures swoop in.
>>
>>96853825
There was some variants available in BFG as profiles, but no models. FW did some stuff though since I have some of their GK Strike Cruisers, but can't recall if they did any regular Chapter bits or kits for BFG.
>>

We already have BFG.
We have rules for the full spectrum of 40k factions.
We have dozens of fleet lists to build from.
We have mechanics for everything from boarding to teleport attacks to manifesting daemon ships to DE slave raids.
We already have a full Horus Heresy spin-off including Legion traits and Gloriana ships.
We have dozens of sculptors producing models for every ship class in the game.
We already have a worldwide playerbase.

We do not need a new BFG that breaks up what we already have, only to sell it back to us piece-by-piece and stupider.
The game is already complete.

It's going to happen for the same reason Blood Bowl was brought back into their fold in 2016: if they don't do something with it they will lose IP rights for disuse.
So GW doing BFG is actually an attack on BFG to prevent the community efforts from being used as the influx of incredibly vocal whales that buy whatever GW does with it will rabidly crusade across the internet in an all out war to convince people that it is the only option.
On the one hand we don't want consumer noobs or their whale commanders in the game, but on the other hand it will serve to obfuscate and bury all existing groups who play the loving crafted community rules, internet searches for videos or local groups will invariably direct you to GW garbage from the day of it's release onward.

Jesus Christ the dwarf changes are major!

>spike journals separate from the rules
So, on DAY 1, the two launch teams will not be in the rule book.
>>
>>96858583

I think they have to be, otherwise the core box set doesn't include rules for the models it's packed with.
>>
>>96858583
The team rule can be printed on a single page. The Spike Journal doesn't come with just 5 pages of rule. It came with sport news and comic like a sport magazine.
>>
>>96858650
>handy cheat sheets to help you get through your first few games
This is where you will find a premade team roster for exactly the 11 models that come in the box for each team, this designed to make you want to go out and purchase a separate box of minis for each team and the two separate journals for each team.

2nd season had Nobility and Black Ork team stats in the rulebook and also published a Spike Journal that both teams shared.
>>
>>96859077
Right and they have since realized that doing a double journal resulted in half the sales and that having the box team rules in the book also resulted in loss of sales.
If they were going to streamline things again then the journal for these two would also be a double issue, which it is not, showing GW has examined the numbers and didn't like what they saw.
>>

As a leaf I have to inform you that Monopoly money is more solid in value than our currency as the value of each monopoly bill is the value of the paper it is printed on and FIAT currencies are worth less than the materials they are printed on.

How's the price for the new edition of BB? A friend is considering getting it, but doesn't know whether it's good value or not. Personally I think it's a bit on the expensive side, but I'm used to mesbg, which is a bit cheaper, considering there's a huge 2nd hand market

2020 was a mild shit test to see if they could make big changes and still sucker you into paying.

It went up in popularity during lockdown, then youtubers got into it and began milking it, as every piece of terrain, conversion and paint job can be turned into a whole video.

As for Warbands, I stick to 1a and 1b.

>>96857020 while true, the popularity spike begun back in 2019, during the game's 20th anniversary.

>>96857931
But wouldn't all that be much better if split into a dozen books released quarterly, with new editions that break everything every third year and $150+ big box releases sold for fomo?

Build 2-3 Warbands yourself and some terrain, then convince a single person for a quick game.
