>>96858800Does the Chantry count? Otherwise no. The ST quickly realize I was a bit too self motivated & would be fine without needing to call in the calvary. The other players got a few NPCs here & there to be friends with & help them out in a pinch. Meanwhile my Tremere was creating webs of blackmail & bloodbonds the hard way. Toreador get all the luck

>>96859215Not really. Like I said I did fine & yes Clan Tremere was benefited greatly, i was ever the Company Man. I just think I was a bit too devious than my ST was expecting, which was okay, but I kinda felt sad he didnt give me a buddy or two like everyone else.
Does it make sense for a Son of Aether to have a sort of psychic bent? Like he believes the soul is the key & while humans use tools, ultimately those tools can be discarded as we approach godhood & channel the aether by will alone? I like the SoA but I dobt quite embrace the steam punk vibe & want to lean more into crystal harmonic psychic BS. Death rays are still cool though
>>96859586He's simply an intellectual with good rolls
>>96859642Perfectly reasonable for an Etherite to be into any weird theories. Maybe just find a way to shove Luminous Ether into your ideas.
>>96859642Reasonable enough. You could go all the way and slip actual psionic power with the character. Weak or untrained if you feel like it but actual concrete evidence that it's there giving weight to their beliefs.>>96859464Could probably split Pentex in half and have all the science+tech companies fall under Mom's control. The collusion may just be entirely human and syndicate base with the Wyrm and Weaver not looking closely.
>>96859607>but I kinda felt sad he didnt give me a buddy or two like everyone else.Next time, use that V20 Chantry builder system and ask your ST to get at least one Tremerebro/Gargoyleslave.
So after a year of trying to convince my GM and group to give WoD another try, I finally managed to get everyone excited about giving Changing Breeds (20th Anniversary) a try; but now we've already hit a problem. One of the players wants to play a suchid Mokole who's at least 10 years past her first change; but another player is insisting that, even after a decade, she'd still be struggling to speak or use toilet paper properly. Can anyone confirm or refute this?
>>96860006Lupus wolves struggle to learn human language and how to interact with human society, but you can overcome such things with merits at character gen. It really depends on where our lizard grew up. I'd say that it's not a major concern, so long as the ST picks which merits the player needs to buy at character gen.
>>96859948>use that V20 Chantry builder systemAwa? Is this only for vampires or mages as well? I was looking for a mage chantry builder.
>>96860006That player is probably just trying to inject his gross fetishes. Even if that is normal for Mokole, player characters are free to be as exceptional as the storyteller allows.
>>96860099There's a small system in lore of the clans, but I don't think it would work well with ascension.
>>96860099Stop perving on my girlfriend and me, you bastard.
>>96860006What type of reptile are they using? Also the naysayer player sounds odd to bring it up as a point of contention. You guys are all playing young adults right? Who cares, she can pass in society under some scrutiny.
>>96860006This is reminiscent of the time our residential That Guy made a shapeshifter in shadowrun and despite knowing ancient japanese history, couldnt fathom concepts like public urination and indecent exposure. "Lol but im a fox bro, you guys gotta teach me to be human".
>>96860152This is a mage world, you're just an npc
Do entropy's third and fourth dot effects, affect predictable pattern and affect life, have any use if you don't have the associated pattern sphere? How can they be used without those spheres?
>>96859464Any Technocracy company
At our table we're (almost) all GMs at various points of time and/or within the group or with other people. What do you think about a monthly or so ST rotation of splats, all in a loose-ish continuity (aka we adapt our ST time to what has happened while we were players during other rotations but we don't prepare stuff together beforehand and each ST is independent).I think we can manage Changeling (Lost, tho, not Dreaming even if the rest would be oWod), Werewolf, Vampire, Hunter and Mage, maybe with a ST douple-upping one because there's one system more than there are STs.
>>96860152Hey, I'm free to do whatever orbination I want in the privacy of my own home! I didn't slave at SpaceX to get 5 points in Correspondence for nothing, buddy!
>>96860211Which Hunter would you be running? Sounds like a neat idea though.
I know its been two threads but I can't get over how weird it is that the sabbat uses an ecclesiarchal hierarchy given their origin. It makes less than no sense. It's clearly because these things were thought up independently of one another.
>>96860202The fourth dot specifically notes that it ISN'T affecting their life pattern, it's a teehee entropy thing. Entropy does not directly touch their life pattern it's affecting entropy to just affect their life. Don't get mad at me, get mad at the rules.entropy users can cause heart attacks by looking at people without the life sphere, though without life they can't make the bad luck follow the person.
>>96860099Go back to your general slop-san
>>96860236>t. Seething changeling
>>96860229So you only need the pattern sphere to "tie" an effect to your target?
>>96860223Reckoning.Honestly tho I have no idea of the evolution of the systems (I'm newish to WoD and I have no clue about what changes between first editions, second editions, nWoDs, 5s, 20s, and whatnot), I'm limiting my own scope to CtL because I want to ST for a bunch of broken abuse victims who think that for better and for good they are still stuck in a fairytale.
>>96860256Basically, yes. You can affect people/objects directly with entropy alone, but you need <appropriate sphere 3> to stick it to them so it follows them around without you present. With Entropy 3, you can jam the gun of the thug trying to mug you, but his gun starts working when he runs away. With Entropy 3/Matter 3, that gun will jam for everyone for a long timeWith Entropy 3/Life 3, every gun that thug picks up will jametc
>>96860284Okay thanks this really cleared things up for me
>>96857843>>96857737The impression I always got is that a writer fell for the "there's no such thing as a clever Brujah they are all just angry retards" meme and wrote the True Brujah as a superior, improved Brujah without realising that the Idealists already exist. This is a big issue with White Wolf, a lot of the Second Edition and especially Revised writers seemed to fall for the complaints that the players made about topics that they were not the original writers of, and leaped to fix them.
>>96860225If they had developed the spiritual side more than just alternatives to humanity it'd at least make more sense. What with the Tzimisce and Lasombra presence it'd probably just be fitting to change the ecclesiarch trappings to aristocratic ones. Ducti and Prisci could be knights. Bishops swap to Counts while archbishops are Marquess, or Margrave. Cardinals are dukes and the regent is archduke
Thank you all for the quick replies. >>96860089>overcome such things with merits at character genOh, I didn't know that. Do you remember what any of them are called?>>96860104>Even if that is normal for Mokole, player characters are free to be as exceptional as the storyteller allows. The storyteller is totally cool with it; he's always been of the opinion that WoD is a good setting for people who want to be snowflakes. >>96860166>What type of reptile are they using? Monitor lizard. >Also the naysayer player sounds odd to bring it up as a point of contention. He has very firm ideas regarding lore and 'how things should be'. You guys are all playing young adults right? She is; like I said, about a decade past her first change. I probably will be also; not sure about the rest. >Who cares, she can pass in society under some scrutiny.Yea, our ST said she's probably be a little immature for her age; but she tends to play kinda juvenile characters anyway. >>96860190Ugh; I don't like it when players weirdly hobble their characters in order to get more attention from the other characters.
>>96860307Temporis is fucking cool though. Can't be a vampire in the modern day without ZA WARUDO.
What generation is the phyre supposed to be?
>>96860268Fair enough though if you're looking to be the CtL ST, I'd like to suggest looking at Hunter the Vigil. The bigger conspiracies and compacts could help be connectors between the splats your group jumps between.
>>96860335Merits and traits I would recommend to overcome Animal-Breed starting weaknesses>Common Sense >Language (You can have multiple of this merit)>A good number of dots in the Mentor background to represent a Homid mentor who can show you the ropes. And you're good to go. Could be as few as 3 freebie points.
>>96860357Six to nine. Seven could be fitting if someone's really bent on matching game abilities to ttrpg equivalents.
>>96860401>6 to 9Hehehehehe
>>968603576th-7th, according to the wiki
>>96860314It would make more sense to just have a modified camarilla hierarchy in terms of it being borrowed aristocratic titles, it would also be very ironic which is fitting. It would also be easier to bridge the gap since you can just gloss over the fact that it was all the lasombra and tzimisce who did not hold rank and territory who joined the sabbat by simply stating that they were rebelling to get that stuff themselves not out of any actual principles.
>>96860390NTA but wouldn't 10 years be enough anyway for a creature who already has adequate brain development to actually learn to be human enough without all of that? Good suggestion otherwise More afraid that anon's friend is just trying to find an excuse to shove his fetishes or some weird shit he's particularly fascinating in into the table but at some point I suppose that's just W:tA
>>96859464Shinzui Industries, which is basically just Sony but led by werewolves enthralled by the Weaver. Almost as powerful as Pentex, but there's basically no information about them because White Wolf wrote ten times more about the Wyrm than the Weaver (and ten times more about the Weaver than the Wyld.)Developmental Neogenetics Amalgamated, a pharmaceutical company with slight awareness of the Garou who are trying their best to understand the condition and devise a method of curing it.
>>96860709>Shinzui Industries, which is basically just Sony but led by werewolves enthralled by the WeaverI mean, I guess I can get behind that but mom should replace them with her drones or us, much nice to work with.
>>96860493nice
>>96860677It's just to cover their bases. It's all down to the ST in the end. But you're right. It's important to note that the language merit is specifically for learned languages in excess of your default ones. Now, in W20 the book recommends you handwave certain things, but if the ST wants you to provide an actual on-paper reason your lizard can speak English and know what a computer is, it's right there for you. It would be enough to shut up that other player, certainly. You can think of merits brought with freebie points as representative of the character's experiences between their first change and rite of passage? That's a good way to think about it.
>>96860719There's a good chance that the werewolves are drones. Also, what's with the recent upswing in HFY posters? Seems like the majority of posters here these days shits on anything that isn't affiliated with the Technocracy, the Weaver or hunters.
>>96860743Nta, I just find it bullshit because by the time of your initiation you will have been taught the ways of the human societies you need to blend in with. Does this player think that nothing happens before the Rite? That they just throw out completely fresh cubs into the world to go rend the veil?
>>96860765>Also, what's with the recent upswing in HFY posters? Seems like the majority of posters here these days shits on anything that isn't affiliated with the Technocracy, the Weaver or hunters.Hunter the parenting maybe? Hell, I'm not even sure if I agree with you on this one. Last couple of threads were filled with shitposts made in response to people actually talking about things yes I work for Pentex, how could you tell?. I can't say I mind some were funny.
>>96860765> Seems like the majority of posters here these days shits on anything that isn't affiliated with the Technocracy, the Weaver or hunters.I'm just saying, I'd prefer to work with someone who isn't a human abuser (woofs) and because I'd make mom more proud then they ever could.
my group has been doing a long dark ages for the past year so i got an itch for something more modern, played parliament of knives and enjoyed it, i love lucca and want corliss to step on my neck did you guys like any of the other vampire games these guys made? even the non-vtm onesi'm itching for anothermaybe v5 isn't so bad
>>96859948Where can I find the Chantry builder
>>96860838people say good things about night road>my group has been doing a long dark ages for the past yearjealous, it seems like i'm the only one in my group that's into period settings
>>96860390Thank you. >>96860677The toilet paper thing was just an exaggerated example; I don't think it's a fetish thing. And he seems to be backing off on his stance now that I've brought up some outside opinions. >>96860743>You can think of merits brought with freebie points as representative of the character's experiences between their first change and rite of passage? That's a good way to think about it.That's another thing I brought up, she's still limited in what she can spend initial dots on (other than freebies). >>96860772In his defense, some sources I found seemed to indicate that it takes a long time for animal-born to acclimate to human living. But like I said before, she's 10 years past her first change.
>>96860225>>96860314>>96860529I'm glad I don't have this flavor of autism. Aping the church in a mocking manner fits the Sabbat well. The Sabbat accuses the Camarilla of being the highfalutin aristocrats, so noble titles are immediately out of the question but there's only so many mortal terms to steal in the year 1500. Not to mention, the Lasombra were the most heavily invested in the catholic church as an institution, and it fits the Sabbat's more religiously derived power. The Code of Milan wasn't around when the Sabbat was forming, and before the addenda and the purchase pact (much later additions) it was so vague in what it actually said that it was 90% up to interpretation. Since the Sabbat has to pretend it isn't that autocratic, it makes sense why it would try to define things in terms of dioceses rather than proper feudal holdings. You can also have a cardinal for a region that has very little Sabbat presence, as they're more like regional overseers rather than kings. As authoritarian and tyrannical as the Sabbat often are in practice, their entire structure is filled with pseudo-democratic and libertarian trappings. A religious basis for government ensures that there is always at least one person above any temporal ruler. Thus, Noddism is the one thing that even semi-unifies the Sabbat, and it's worth noting that the factions within it that are least likely to respect Noddism are the least likely to give a damn about the hierarchy. The Black Hand and their fifth columnist tendencies. Nomad Packs. Lastly and most practically, use of aristocratic titles just wouldn't fly with their base. However many self-interested elders they have, their base, especially at the time of their founding, were deranged apocalyptists who wanted to destroy the existing vampire hierarchies, nearly all of whom used feudal or even more archaic terms.
>>96860765>upswing in HFY postersHas there? I've been reacquainting myself with WoD, these past weeks, and I've been somewhat vocal about how the sabbat continues to disappoint. Although who's sucking off Hunters? They'll always be the bottom rung of the ladder despite how hard Paradox tries.
>>96860884Well hey if the TP thing and the general vibe is just for flavor and not something that will be repeated until it's a tired joke then there's no harm in it, perfectly reasonable character, Main thing is that everyone else in the table is comfortable I figure
>>96860939See now that helps sell it better than most stuff I've read that isn't in-lore. I almost wanna hazard an assumption that local to state sabbat stuff might be stand alone complexes, though I think the general anarch trappings fit that idea better.
>>96860743Good point, I suppose at my table before we just kind of treated freebie points as character rounders and not part of a backstory explicitly>>96860772I suppose that's what the freebie points represent
>>96860006It takes 3 years to potty train a human baby & they are smarter than a human baby. While language skills would be like a second language, odd phasing & bad contraction maybe
>>96858800The original Avalon logo was better.
>>96861365Even pentex subsidiaries are getting hit with the simplified logo trend
>>96860838Night road's about the only other one that gets praise. How was Corliss? I figure we can't romance her but damn it, I wanna support her from what little I've seen.
>>96860838Night Road is very interactive and I like it though it has it's fair share of problems partly due to>V5and it being that guy's first WoD game. It's pretty good though While I think his sequel is better, Werewolf is a lot harder to get into
I summon the 1 (one) Geist: the Sin-Eaters fan to convince me why it is worth playing.
>>96860838>>96861635I liked Coteries of New York and I heard Shadows was even better, but people seemed to pan Swansong for some reason.
>>96861940Half the WoD/VtM video games out there don't even have Metacritic scores. Just shows how the mighty are fallen; there's barely anyone playing these, even when they're good.
>>96861940Swansong'll likely get a surge of love. Probably. Although how much of swansong was an advertisement for v5?
>>96861968>disappointed
>>96861968Which of these should I play?>Parliament of Knives>Shadows of New York>Night Road>Swansong>Reckoning of New York>Out For Blood
>>96861691It's possibly the only 'of Darkness' setting that has a very grim premise but is surprisingly pleasant and uplifting in play. Your character has died and the death was likely very unpleasant and they have wrestle with being bound to a geist, but a typical chronicle is going to have lots of little moments of joy and catharsis and reconnecting with humanity and helping others overcome the trauma of their passing and generally coming to terms with death as a natural and healthy part of life.Of course it can be played in a more depressing and dour fashion if you want to play it that way, but the game lends itself to a positive outlook on death rather than a negative one, heavily inspired by DĂa de Muertos.
>>96861940Swansong is buggy as hell and very in your face about it being V5. Admittedly, it's also a much better adaptation of a tabletop session than most other things. If you like DE or Planescape, Swangsong is in that vein of CRPG
>>96862012Parliament to Night Road, definitely. Swansong's your choice. Reckoning is only if you really liked Shadows, and then I suggest playing Coteries of New York. If after that you still want more New York get Reckoning.Goes without saying to try and get 'em with discounts, but that's especially true for Swansong and Reckoning.
>>96862012Everyone likes to recommend Night Road and Swansong, I've also heard Parliament and Coteries is good. I've heard reckoning was relatively bad though. Out for Blood also isn't a vampire game, it's a hunter game. If you're willing to branch out Glenkildove and the WtA game are both good
>>96862012I just finished Night Road for the first time. Pretty solid. Took about 4-5 hours or so. The ACTUAL successor to VtMB, as sad as it is to say. Bring your own OST.

Right now, they have the lead that he was working for a vampire called 'the baron', they've met the vampire in disguise(the party doesn't know), and they know the Deep Ones are just denizens of the area who are mostly super sus because their kind have been getting murdered en masse...and now the party has saved them.
>>96862833>appearance 0 while being smellySure. Originally they were the count Orlok vampires so they were visibly less human>too plastic or perfectHarder sell since revulsion is a foundation of nosferatu. Too plastic over perfect if you talked your ST into it.
>>96862501Half Life>Cheap Necromancy is fine, but the biggest advantage is being able to slip into the Shadowlands with little effort or preparation. As far as defense or setting up ambushes, you can't ask for better. Only a very small number of vampires can even effect you & usually only with preparation. Sure there are downsides but the advantages outweigh them.Sanctity>People literally don't think you're the culprit for anything. You're the last person to suspect.Invocation (Luck)>any merit to get a small bonus to any action can be overruled by this one merit. Sell yourself like a little blood slut to get unique Disciplines or Paths, pretend you're bonded & then betray them. When blood bonds are the preferred mark of loyalty, you can get all kinds of favors
>>96862833Rugged Bad Looks (5pt. Merit)>While you are still hideous, you are not quite as ugly as most Nosferatu. You still have an appearance of 0, but you might pass for human in the right light. It is a still a good idea to cover up and stay in the shadows, but the sight of you (or even the smell of you) is not cause for someone to immediately think of you as a freak or a trauma victim.. Having said that, you are still ugly enough to unnerve the crap out of most people.

>>96862952the wheelchair was a facade, and I think he was mostly viewed as an eccentric recluse. Also, are the lumps necessarily part of being a nossie? I thought it kind of varied from nos to nos, where the only consistent thing was you're inhumanly, monstrously ugly?
>>96862742The player is a Vampire, actually, I'm gassing him up to take more points in Enemy once the campaign starts
>>96862521>FaithmaxxerHonestly? Can't complain, blasting a vampire with concentrated power of faith is cool
>>96862967No the lumps aren't a requirement. Just a way it can manifest.
>>96862977Oh yeah, I meant the enemy. Keep us updated if anything interesting happens.
>>96862981yeah, Claude didn't have lumps AFAIK, he just hid in a wheelchair to seem like a feeble burn victim, which surprised groups like the enemy hunters when he got up out of the chair and proceeded to spitroast one of them on his cane, ass to mouth.
>>96862652>tracks you down (specifically YOU) because she has cancer and don't wanna dieCharisma void, genuinely. Absolutely 0 weight to the character compared to Chad McBloodfeud>>96862699>>96862658I only hope that at some day we'll get writers who actually want passionate characters in their games and not irony poisoned quip masters
>>96862952>>96862967lumps?
>>96862991
>>96862985 I'm planning on making the enemy a risen wraith he ended up creating whilst he was stupid in the backstory
>>96862979Blasting anything with the concentrated power of faith is kino of the highest order, which is why I seethe when Paladins in DnD are just autistic instead properly layering the religious zealotry Why yes my favorite Vermintide character is Saltzpyre
>>96862993Got some pits, too, but you have to dig deeper to fix a divot.
>>96862943That sounds mean. And from everything I've read about the nosferatu, they are mean but generally not that mean.
>>96863009my first ever experience with an RPG was in Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy. I played a self-flagellating psyker who spent most of his life in a church and fully hated himself for his curse. He only joined up with the inquisition because 'obviously, you have to do what the servants of the emperor demand', and I spent the entire game as a hella zealous dude who had a huge admiration hardon for the servants of the God-Emperor, like the Astra Militarum or *gasp* The Adeptus Astartes.Him learning to temper his zealousness was a hell of a lot of fun, and by the end of the campaign, he ended up going face to face with a daemon prince alone since the rest of the party was failing fear checks or was possessed by said Daemon Prince.
>>96862986Ah good ol' surprise potence attacks. Gotta love 'em.>>96862991Like pic related. Though they can look less like pustules.
>>96862943The curse is supernatural so it'd likely ignore the mutilation.
>>96863030That sounds incredibly based, overzealous Inquisitor learning nuance is a kino journey
>>96863043also, I modelled his appearance on picrel, complete with a flaming crown. Dark Heresy 2e has an armor enhancement called the Brazier of St. Roberto, which is hilariously broken, and single-handedly ended up turning my character into the Face. The GM let me wear it as a hat instead of an armor enhancement.
>>96863054Damn that looks cool, I'll check it out
>>96863061an anon dumps it during the holidays every year, it's a fantastic necromunda comic.
>>96863030>>96863054Sounds cash. In my first taste of DH I was a chainsword wielding techpriest and we were *this* close to uncovering some sector wide conspiracy about the severan dominate before the game fell apart
>>96863009>spoilerHe would make for a very scary inquisitor if you think about it. With a special hatred for anything demonic or with pointy ears I AM THE COMMET, I BURN THE IMPURE!
>>96862943That's actually something some Nossies do. They fuck up pretty people & then embrace them so they scars set it. The nossie curse will either keep your already ugly appearance or drop your appearance to 0, it doesn't really care how you get there.
>>96863104>can slaughter thousands of above human-tier man-sized rats>has the power of god and anime on his side>many gunsThis guy could solo WoD up until Gen 5-4 vampires I think
So what is the riddle then?
>>96863130The answer is the destination, the riddle is the journey. ie>Malk knows WHAT will happen>Malk doesn't know HOW that thing will happen>or if they know how, they do not know what or whenIt's like if you come across a difficult puzzle, someone points the answer at you before you even start it but you have 0 idea how they actually arrived at the end step. Like a dude showing you the last step of solving a rubiks cube without you knowing all the moves
>>96863129You forgot the fact he has a lot of dots in Allies and Contacts. Krubersreik 5 could solo ET.
>>96863130They know the answer but it's lost in the static. An answer is meaningless with a question. If I told you "raise/rays/rase/raze/rehs/réis/res" how do you know what that means? You'd need to know the question before you can connect it to the answer. It's like knowing the last word of a novel. It means nothing but also everything
>>96863170All of them together yeah
>Presence is just Aura Farming: The Discipline
... I suddenly like the Hecata for some reason.
>>96863210>this ad was brought to you by Cold Pussy inc.
Redpill me on the Strix. They seemed like an unnecessary spiritual addition to a splat whose secondary strength was its lack of spiritual enemies.
>>96863267They were fine as an optional enemy/thing that could be lurking in the background. Driven into the ground by 2e

>>96862833There is a nosferatu in one of the v5 books that had a sex doll sort of appearance. Apparently her mouth is perpetually half open and she cant blink.
>>96863267honestly they where fine when they where just one of the other things in the night and i really like that part of vtr and to a lesser degree all of cofd but the strix are just so overdone and overhyped in the books
>>96863283V5 is bullshit, & doesn't fuckingncount
