Avatar should have been an AC sized set. Even LOTR didn't have this issue with so many versions of the same character. Apparently the series had 0 minor characters. What are we at? Like 7 Aangs?
>>96867255>>96867271>>96867278Later today I can take a picture of my Oros deck I threw together a few weeks ago. It's barely a bracket 2 and needs work, but that's part of the fun. I probably took inspiration from one anon I'm quoting here. Nothing but white creatures, lots of deathtouch equipment..
>>96867493>Have you ever played a pillowfort deck?No one attacks me because "MUH FREE CARD" Greed is the ultimate fort.
>>96867744Probably never, because most players, old and new, don't really like Chaos. You're an outlier and your playgroup/LGS probably doesn't like playing with you.
>>96867493>Have you ever played a pillowfort deck?Yes. It's a lot of fun playing defense.https://archidekt.com/decks/14793786/jenara_asura_of_war_walls

>>96867836>>96867744How many more chaos cards could they even print? Aren't there enough? I do like them every once in a while. Definitely forces your to play differently and adapt in a way you've probably never had to in normal games. Sort of like using the Planechase cards. It's fun once in a while to spice things up.
>>96867828I'm so glad my playgroup isn't like this. Someone handing everyone free resources? Kill him first, because he's helping the other opponents and can probably better use the free stuff he gives out better than those he's giving to. Nekusar and Sheoldred haven't won a game for MONTHS now in my playgroup.
I'm coming back from hiatus, apparently the only format left is edh?Can someone give me some direction here, I just want to play a deck/decks that remind me of the decks I was playing before I leftMono white prison (legacy)U/W Control (legacy)Boros Burn (Modern)Boomer Jund (Modern)
>>96867875Honestly anon this sounds like your playgroup fails to recognize cause/effect if you see Sheoldred and think the problem is group hug.

Same as slop, [insert]core, [insert]wave, etc. terminally online retards today can't comprehend brief fads have always existed and will continue to exist long after they've (supposed to have) aged out of target demographics for things.
>>96867908You may want to reread his post. He's describing why Sheoldred and Nekuzar and the like don't get wins because in his group they get focused down once their everyone draws cards start coming down.
>>96867866There may not be much safe design space left for massive board churning chaos spells but I'd love to see more chaos interaction in the form of donate spells and forcing players to exchange control of permanents at instant speed. Casting Wrong Turn and giving someone's commander to the opponent they just hit is immensely satisfying.
>>96867875Ok I'll just 7 board wipes or use my 10 counter spells or my 15 pieces of targeted removal. It's a control deck. Not sure why you think I am not overflowing with answers.
whats the best way to counter big stupid creature pile decks like dinos, merfolk, etcstax? combo? jamming 50000 board wipes? i am tired of losing just because some dude spun atla palani and nobody had interaction so its just game over

Is it bad form if I play a card that makes target player draw X cards, if I have a mana loop in play, to make them lose?I've never tried a mill deck, and its not really the "goal" of my deck, but I was just messing around with it by myself and realized I had this potential.
>>96868770Yes it is typically considered bad form to instakill one player and leave the other two alive.

I am of course raped by artifact removal and avoid Eldrazi for flavor reasons so it's not a very serious deck but it it is very fun and versatile, Surge Conductor and Steel Commander can make the tokens scary fast and I proxied all the expensive cards.

>>96869004I genuinely can't remember the last time the opportunity to do that presented itself to me in an EDH game. I do it all the time in other formats though.
>>96869004Not often. Did it a little while ago with a small army of thropters I had but that's about it. Often in groups I've played in if someone is attacking they either don't care about the creature that's attacking or there's something going on that blocking wouldn't do anything or isn't an option. Either a flier, or flying with menace, an indestructible trampling death touch creature, or some other thing like first strike death touch.

>>96869067Looks fun, run it. Most players, like >>96869072 are competitive cucks in a four player meme format and are slaves to edhrec
>>96869097Go away. I've already told you before, if you don't like the way Magic plays (trigger, trigger, trigger, boom, boom, boom!) you just don't like Magic. Quit and play another game.
>>96869072I can't deny that, but I feel like with decks that play a lot of non-flying creatures it's a way to turn removal/wipes and chumpblocks into pressure. I think of it in the same class as "your creatures gain indestructible" type cards, with sorcery speed and higher mana cost as drawbacks for the higher value ceiling.
>>96869097>Damn I hate doubling effects>What? No I won't run removal! That requires me to like... keep mana open... and think!
>>96869097>Whenever another ability triggers, deal 1 damage to it’s controller. That's never getting printed. Not only is it an unbelievable chore to track (you have literally doubled the number of triggers you need to track for the rest of the game) it's too-wide hate. It's not a silver bullet, it's "10 damage per turn unless you're playing vanillas and nothing else."
>>96869067For a more level-headed analysis; it is five mana that doesn't do anything until one of your creatures bites it. You'd get the most value out of it self-sacing stuff, but summoning sickness is then a bitch for the board unless you have a haste source. If you can cheat or ramp it out earlier it might be good. Sliding bullshit on to the table and say "oh and it's an angel now" for tribal stuff like Giada could be lots of fun, but tripping it intentionally is the issue. Orzhov is almost going to be guaranteed to be necessary to get creature sac for any cheaper than Ashnods and getting any value out of it; at which point you're looking at 8 mana before targets.Additionally, if you're going to do angels, your real angels can't be targets. Tribal synergy that has tribal antisynergy is a bridge to sell.Overall it's a lot of hoops, but I could see it as a piece of a build-around strategy. I may consider it for a Ratadrabik/Colonel Autumn Aristocrats brew, but it's a hard sell.
>>96869067Wouldn't this jam in a Persist deck?
>>96869286Well, lemme think.Persist Creature dies; you choose the order to resolve Persist or Valkyrie's Call: If Persist resolves, it comes back with a -1/-1 and Valkyrie's call misses targeting. If Valkyrie's Call resolves, it comes back an angel with +1/+1 and flying. When the Angel Persist Creature dies, Valkyrie's Call doesn't trigger, but Persist does. It returns to the field with a -1/-1; which I guess means Valkyrie's Call can go off.So you'll be flip-flopping between a +1/+1 Flying Angel version and a -1/-1 of your Persist Creature. Not bad, but you could have just gotten something to give it +1/+1 counters on entry for cheaper.

>>96868246Tbf some people dislike both theme park sets and ub slop
>>96869548No one brought up unfinity.
>>96868303Not him, but no. I think the difference lies in whether it's a first or second order product, and the degree of utility in the purchased object. Reading comics is less consumerist than playing ub or buying pops because it is a unique product in its own right. An issue of Spiderman tells a Spiderman story. Just like a deck of uw cards are their own product with their own unique purpose and origin. Llanowar Elf isn't a reference or tie in to another product; it describes an elf of the Llanowar woods.ub is inherently consumerist because it is an explicit commercial reference to another product, rather than a unique product in its own right. You are buying Stranger Things merch from Wotc essentially. It isn't as bad as funkos because the cards are at least game pieces.. Funkos serve literally zero purpose outside of being an outlet to turn money into product references. To go back to your question about a book, no a novel tie in to an mtg set is not a consumerist thing. It is a part of the unique product. When you buy the Odyssey cycle of books with the Odyssey fat packs, you are able to get the complete story, which isn't told in the cards. It is a sister product which extends the main product's value, if that makes sense. The book is an expansion of the cards and makes the cards more meaningful since you actually appreciate who Chainer or Kamahl are.

Go-shintai is still superior for doubling every etb shrine. I dont even think the panda is better than Sisay. I've gotten up to some real fuckery with Sisay as my shrine commander; sanctum of all, enchant Sisay with Chromanticore's bestow, fuck shit up with commander damage.
>>96869980you are in 5c. just blink him.

>>96869994Still seems flimsy. You cram in some blink, blink panda, get some of the ass-y shrines, and fold. Unless there are some real AtlA shrines that fuck and are worth blinking too, building the non-shrine portion of a shrine deck to be blink doesn't seem worth it. Hell, blinking go-shintai helps you out more than panda for doomwake giant et. al.Plus, Go-shintai's other ability can bring annoying ass enchantments back from the gy. The panda creates spirit tokens, which is meh.
>>96870016Aint those kavu
>>96869961Fishing is a very tranquil activity
>>96870045I'd posit the etb shrines only have value as something that etb's/gets blinked. Their passives suck balls and are only marginally better than shrine tokens.
He's kinda weird. He's not a shrine or even an enchantment, which means none of the enchantress protection package works for him. He's good in places where you can blink him multiple times, but at that point I'm playing a dedicated blink deck and could be blinking literally anything else. The tokens he makes can't protect you and you have to pay wubrg for them, but they have good evasion for offense. I think I'd probably just update my old Go-shintai deck rather than make a new one with Hei Bai. Goes into the 99 for sure though.
>>96870160He has the advantage of not being Go-shintai and thus not making you arch-nemesis the moment you sit down to play

How to best use Firebending? I was looking at the options. You are in dimir colors for flash tribal stuff, but it's a bit akward because the mana it gives you is red. You could just play a bunch of instants, i guess? Build the deck around cards with firebending and powerful instants. I also thought about building the deck around activated abilities (something i've wanted to do for a while now) but it just seems so jank
>>96869771UB is for straight aryan mentally well men. UW is for degenerate low iq freaks. This also explains why antiubtroons are so unhinged and deranged when it comes to UB, they are mentally ill and detest seeing normal attractive people on cards and not ugly urbanite bug people like themselves.
>>96870231I just personally don't like the door that UB opens. Crossovers can be cool in small doses, especially with non-mechanically unique Secret Lairs. Go ahead, put KoF or Soul Calibur characters or even Spider Man on cards, but don't make them unique (as to not force anyone to NEED them) and do not make entire sets. Now we have so much accelerationist shit going on where people can see the decline in quality (more misprints than ever, less balance/gametesting than ever, more sets per year, more than half of the cards next year being UB) happening.

Had an idea to build pic related as a bizarre combo deck where you spend your early to midgame dumping as much of your deck into the graveyard as you possibly can while assembling impact tremors effects and then try to make like 20 zombies at once with the commander, but it just has so many points of failiure that i don't see it actually being functional
