Not really a lot.
Guttural Response is there but you have to hope someone is playing blue otherwise its a dead card
Hustle//Bustle is an overrun option or a cheap 1 mana 4/4
Inside Out and Manamorphose are cantrips
Lurrus can get small dudes if you go that route
Priviledged Position gives hexproof
Reknit is a one-time regen
The Azorius Sokka, Lateral Strategist gives cards
Theres also a fair number of 1 drops you could use to rush out more 4/4s if you plan to go that route

Avatar should have been an AC sized set. Even LOTR didn't have this issue with so many versions of the same character. Apparently the series had 0 minor characters. What are we at? Like 7 Aangs?

Later today I can take a picture of my Oros deck I threw together a few weeks ago. It's barely a bracket 2 and needs work, but that's part of the fun. I probably took inspiration from one anon I'm quoting here. Nothing but white creatures, lots of deathtouch equipment..

No one attacks me because "MUH FREE CARD" Greed is the ultimate fort.
>>
>>96867744
Probably never, because most players, old and new, don't really like Chaos. You're an outlier and your playgroup/LGS probably doesn't like playing with you.

How many more chaos cards could they even print? Aren't there enough? I do like them every once in a while. Definitely forces your to play differently and adapt in a way you've probably never had to in normal games. Sort of like using the Planechase cards. It's fun once in a while to spice things up.
>>
>>96867828
I'm so glad my playgroup isn't like this. Someone handing everyone free resources? Kill him first, because he's helping the other opponents and can probably better use the free stuff he gives out better than those he's giving to. Nekusar and Sheoldred haven't won a game for MONTHS now in my playgroup.
>>
I'm coming back from hiatus, apparently the only format left is edh?
Can someone give me some direction here, I just want to play a deck/decks that remind me of the decks I was playing before I left
Mono white prison (legacy)

Same as slop, [insert]core, [insert]wave, etc. terminally online retards today can't comprehend brief fads have always existed and will continue to exist long after they've (supposed to have) aged out of target demographics for things.
>>
>>96867908
You may want to reread his post. He's describing why Sheoldred and Nekuzar and the like don't get wins because in his group they get focused down once their everyone draws cards start coming down.
>>
>>96867866
There may not be much safe design space left for massive board churning chaos spells but I'd love to see more chaos interaction in the form of donate spells and forcing players to exchange control of permanents at instant speed. Casting Wrong Turn and giving someone's commander to the opponent they just hit is immensely satisfying.
>>
>>96867875
Ok I'll just 7 board wipes or use my 10 counter spells or my 15 pieces of targeted removal. It's a control deck. Not sure why you think I am not overflowing with answers.

Yes, I remember being a teen and playing a dude in a vintage game who had dega sanctuary, necra sanctuary, and a fuck ton of protective enchantments. I fell in love with the style then and there. I got off to the art AND the effect of solitary confinement.

Strangely I'm not a huge stax guy. It's more fun to let people play and just withstand the onslaught. Cant do that with combo decks (unless you're really handy with a pithing needle), but I cant change what I like.

It is SLOP and you are a PIG for enjoying it and should be ASHAMED and GUILTY and thus your points are all null and void and you should just stop posting.
We are anti-slop posting in /edhg/, perhaps Reddit would be more your style?

If you can't see that since WOTC has taken over the rules and makes all cards solely for commander because it's the only thing making Hasbro profits, and that is going to lead to even more decisions based on short term profits instead of good game design and longevity for the format, then you are completely clueless. Commander is turning into the exact thing EDH was created to be, and players WILL start a new format independent from it. I'm sorry but you won't be able to play your UB slop, hybrid mana cards, partners and you will have to deal with a new banlist and your commander WILL GET TUCKED TO THE BOTTOM OF YOUR DECK.

Is it bad form if I play a card that makes target player draw X cards, if I have a mana loop in play, to make them lose?
I've never tried a mill deck, and its not really the "goal" of my deck, but I was just messing around with it by myself and realized I had this potential.

Voltron, it's easy to give a lot of early-game commander damage and recast after removal. I run a lot of tokens, thopters and aztec gnomes, and run awkward artifact tutors to get Shadowspear and Aettir and Priwen. I am of course raped by artifact removal and avoid Eldrazi for flavor reasons so it's not a very serious deck but it it is very fun and versatile, Surge Conductor and Steel Commander can make the tokens scary fast and I proxied all the expensive cards.

I can't deny that, but I feel like with decks that play a lot of non-flying creatures it's a way to turn removal/wipes and chumpblocks into pressure. That's never getting printed. Not only is it an unbelievable chore to track (you have literally doubled the number of triggers you need to track for the rest of the game) it's too-wide hate. It's not a silver bullet, it's "10 damage per turn unless you're playing vanillas and nothing else."
>>
>>96869067
For a more level-headed analysis; it is five mana that doesn't do anything until one of your creatures bites it. You'd get the most value out of it self-sacing stuff, but summoning sickness is then a bitch for the board unless you have a haste source.

If you can cheat or ramp it out earlier it might be good. Sliding bullshit on to the table and say "oh and it's an angel now" for tribal stuff like Giada could be lots of fun, but tripping it intentionally is the issue. Orzhov is almost going to be guaranteed to be necessary to get creature sac for any cheaper than Ashnods and getting any value out of it; at which point you're looking at 8 mana before targets.

Additionally, if you're going to do angels, your real angels can't be targets. Tribal synergy that has tribal antisynergy is a bridge to sell.

Overall it's a lot of hoops, but I could see it as a piece of a build-around strategy. I may consider it for a Ratadrabik/Colonel Autumn Aristocrats brew, but it's a hard sell.
>>
>>96869067
Wouldn't this jam in a Persist deck?
>>
>>96869286
Well, lemme think.

Persist Creature dies; you choose the order to resolve Persist or Valkyrie's Call: If Persist resolves, it comes back with a -1/-1 and Valkyrie's call misses targeting. If Valkyrie's Call resolves, it comes back an angel with +1/+1 and flying.

When the Angel Persist Creature dies, Valkyrie's Call doesn't trigger, but Persist does. It returns to the field with a -1/-1; which I guess means Valkyrie's Call can go off.

So you'll be flip-flopping between a +1/+1 Flying Angel version and a -1/-1 of your Persist Creature. Not bad, but you could have just gotten something to give it +1/+1 counters on entry for cheaper.

I feel like card swapping mechanics have always been somewhat disliked for the pure fact that you're giving some neckbeard your cards so he can bend and flick and dirty them. It's especially bad now imo since everybody is looking at cards like investments and things are so pricy. Who wants to hand their $90 foil commander or secret lair card to somebody with an entire deck of bent cards?
>>
>>96869097

I already told you, if you dont like the way magic plays, cast spells do thing! Then you need to stop using counter spells and removal.

>>

No one brought up unfinity.
>>
>>96868303
Not him, but no. I think the difference lies in whether it's a first or second order product, and the degree of utility in the purchased object. Reading comics is less consumerist than playing ub or buying pops because it is a unique product in its own right. An issue of Spiderman tells a Spiderman story. Just like a deck of uw cards are their own product with their own unique purpose and origin. Llanowar Elf isn't a reference or tie in to another product; it describes an elf of the Llanowar woods.

ub is inherently consumerist because it is an explicit commercial reference to another product, rather than a unique product in its own right. You are buying Stranger Things merch from Wotc essentially. It isn't as bad as funkos because the cards are at least game pieces.. Funkos serve literally zero purpose outside of being an outlet to turn money into product references.

To go back to your question about a book, no a novel tie in to an mtg set is not a consumerist thing. It is a part of the unique product. When you buy the Odyssey cycle of books with the Odyssey fat packs, you are able to get the complete story, which isn't told in the cards. It is a sister product which extends the main product's value, if that makes sense. The book is an expansion of the cards and makes the cards more meaningful since you actually appreciate who Chainer or Kamahl are.

Last time I played I ripped out with Bolas' Citadel like a third of my deck, gaining back life from Y'shtola to cover the mana costs and I got accused of masturbation. >>
>>96869919
But if you don't fuck kids, would you run to the internet to cry to complete strangers about how much you don't fuck kids?

It's disproportional concern for literally fucking nothing.

So someone calls you a sweaty angle-shooting tryhard at your local, so you're going to come running to papa 4chan to let them know that now you're gonna bet a sweaty angle-shooting tryhard?

I'm not going to extend that to the kid fucking analogy and you shouldn't either.

The more likely case is this is a (not very) elaborate (not very clever) fabrication to solicit (mild) outrage over (literally) nothing important.

Lets talk about the fucking cardgame shall we? Lets talk about them printing a one mana fucking shrine and the impact on the local trout population.

Still seems flimsy. You cram in some blink, blink panda, get some of the ass-y shrines, and fold. Unless there are some real AtlA shrines that fuck and are worth blinking too, building the non-shrine portion of a shrine deck to be blink doesn't seem worth it. Hell, blinking go-shintai helps you out more than panda for doomwake giant et. al.

Plus, Go-shintai's other ability can bring annoying ass enchantments back from the gy. The panda creates spirit tokens, which is meh.

He's kinda weird. He's not a shrine or even an enchantment, which means none of the enchantress protection package works for him. He's good in places where you can blink him multiple times, but at that point I'm playing a dedicated blink deck and could be blinking literally anything else. The tokens he makes can't protect you and you have to pay wubrg for them, but they have good evasion for offense. I think I'd probably just update my old Go-shintai deck rather than make a new one with Hei Bai. Goes into the 99 for sure though.

UB is for straight aryan mentally well men. UW is for degenerate low iq freaks. This also explains why antiubtroons are so unhinged and deranged when it comes to UB, they are mentally ill and detest seeing normal attractive people on cards and not ugly urbanite bug people like themselves.
>>
>>96870231
I just personally don't like the door that UB opens. Crossovers can be cool in small doses, especially with non-mechanically unique Secret Lairs. Go ahead, put KoF or Soul Calibur characters or even Spider Man on cards, but don't make them unique (as to not force anyone to NEED them) and do not make entire sets. Now we have so much accelerationist shit going on where people can see the decline in quality (more misprints than ever, less balance/gametesting than ever, more sets per year, more than half of the cards next year being UB) happening.

Nonland permanent vs. Artifact/enchantment/creature, meaning it can't exile planeswalkers (or battles but who cares lol)
>>
>>96870919
I see, at best, maybe 2 or 3 planeswalkers A YEAR. They're never relevant and die to people throwing creatures at them. And I have EVER seen a battle since they were printed. I think the tradeoff is fair.

I like picking underdog commanders and tuning them to peak performance on a budget. I like using old weird RL cards with shit like cumulative upkeep and finding a deck that can run them well. Just hit them. Or burn them. I literally never see them played for months at a time and when I see them, the die without much effect. I think you're cry over nothing, anon. They're just enchantments that you can attack and your opponent has to waste effort making it work AND protect. Stop crying. Tell me, when was the last time you truly had to face a planeswalker? >>96871329
This never happens in my playgroup. In the startlingly rare occurrences it does happen, everyone reads the card, goes 'Oh, I don't want that to ult going off', then proceeded to beat on it till it died. I think i have only seen 1 ult before, and that was three years ago. Maybe your fellow players aren't that good?
>>

Impressive, my playgroup knows that planeswalker ulti's are stupid won't read the card and attack the walker exclusively to stop the ulti.

>>
How does the stack work in Magic? Let's say me and opponent each have 3 life, and we both have lightning bolt in hand able to be cast. If I cast mine first, he will cast his in response and his will resolve first, willing him the game. So we're at a standstill. Right?
>>
>>96871388

Guys I used to hate UB, but Im very excited for ATLA. This was the most influential and culturally relevant show of its generation. It faded into relative obscurity because Korra and the live action movie sucked.

However, seeing these characters beautifully mapped to mtg rules and colors is just awesome. The firebending mechanic and earthbending are very well designed and will augment archetypes for years to come. I see why people love UB now. Its not always for you but when it is, it changes how you see the game.

Innala / magus meme

https://moxfield.com/decks/fDdYAKNEG02izfpJ-M8N_Q

Uses turnabout / cryptic command to tap to get hits in, untap to kuja burn, surge to victory to do some weird shit like cornered hy blackmages or turnabout to untap loop

Also has stormsplitter/minds desire to go wide

Can kill with parker luck/gogo or just black mages or going wide

Can go infinite turns with conjurers closet/timestream

Mana echoes to brute force a storm turn

Doesn’t run an insane amount of protection, just blinks, 1 tutor, rakdos charm for gy/go wide burn.

Wizard book and staff, might add palantir to ponder the orb

Maybe it's an uphill fight, but you never succeed by giving up.

It doesn't belong in magic. Spiderman also doesn't belong in magic.

I guess I got lucky then. I don't like to use websites like that for deckbuilding. None of mine are even in the top 300! (Tasigur is technically 294, but I run it as 'Fact of Fiction tribal')

Unsure why you're asking me. I just wanted to hear what others considered overused.

The Tasigur list could be interesting to look at. I tried something similar once, but the first draft sucked ass, so I reverted it to budget pod instead.

>edhrec top 100 is eye roll territory.
Nooooo you cant just run fun commanders with powerful abilities!! You have to run high CMC bracket 2 shit which fills an extremely narrow niche or has reverse power creep!!!

I just sorta don't agree, except about Spider-Man. Very different type of Fiction. LOTR, FF, and ATLA are all appropriate whereas Star Trek, Spoodrman, and Marvel are not.

This thing still worth using in landfall?
It seems decent but for 4 mana maybe a little underwhelming? Idk.
