Is 5e a good system to make a 1-10 adventure path for now? I originally made it for Pathfinder for my group and I realized my campaign would actually be a decent adventure path, with a timeline of events and I already ran it so I know what to change and adjust. But would it be better to convert it to 5e? I know 5e. I know Pathfinder 1e. I don't know Pathfinder 2e but if it's way better then it might be worth learning to convert this. I just want to publish my adventure and have it do as well as possible.
>>96876223What about this Bounty Hunter?
>>96876165Depends on the reaction roll.
TQ: Always make sure to go to the best source of information when talking to NPCs.
>>96876223Sure, but much like the quantum ogre the DM decides how much the NPCs know and if they’ll meet the PCs. So my question still remains. How helpful should they be?>>96876803Fuckee is that you?
Need some good snippets for a half Yuan-Ti when she was younger growing up in the more bougie (predominantly human/elf) part of a city
I'm thinking of ways to adapt/customise Lost Mine of Phandelver. There is an old wall around the town, but some of the farms have grown beyond the remains of the wall. I had thought that Halia Thornton was sponsoring the repair of the wall, but if it's incomplete, would it be worth repairing? The Redbrands don't hassle Halia, even though she's probably one of the wealthiest/most influential citizens in town. I guess she's likely to have a couple of guards with her, to discourage them? But she'd be reluctant to lend them to someone to help deal with the Redbrands as she needs them for security. There is a smithy, but the blacksmith is not a key NPC. Should I make them a middle-aged human male/female dwarf/teenage female halfling/other?What minor side-quest could the smith offer?I suppose there would also be a small farrier's stable nearby where horses could be bought/rented?How often would travelling merchants visit the town? (In case the PCs want anything that the local shops couldn't supply easily). What other kind of travellers (quest hooks) might turn up?What about messenger services? Would there be a (semi)regular courier or would letters be entrusted to passing caravans?
What are your takes on the new Circle Casting rules?I think they're cool thematically/narratively, but the Expand, Prolong, and occasionally the Distribute options seem really powerful and easily performed without much issue.
>>96878706It's basically just copying Ritual casting from PF2E, but in a worse way. In PF2E, it's used to cast spells without using any spell slots and to be able to cast spells you might not normally have access to by using collective effort, and spending time instead of slots.
My level 5 bard is hiding an evil book from the party, he has a ring of mind shielding and a necklace of non-detection. The book is a very potent one although currently in a dormant state. We recently got a paladin join our party, will his divine sense pick up the scent of the book if it's in a satchel and if so, what can I do to prevent that from happening?
>>96878989Ask your DM.
I hate the weird "sidegrade nerf" they did to Divine Smite.Getting one free cast a day that never scales seems really doesnt feel like a fair trade for not being able to Smite as an Opportunity Attack, especially since you're a front liner.Maybe the free Find Steed and Abjure Foes makes up for it in the end but that's so disappointing.
I have once again been roped into playing 5e.Every time I play this game I get bored at the lack of mechanical complexity involved, so please give me ideas for nonsensically complex builds, or as close as you can get to it in this game.
>>96879471I think that 2014 divine smite put the paladin in your average group, who probably has 2-3 encounters between long rests, pretty solidly ahead of the other martials in damage output. It doesn't help that paladins already tend to rock high AC and have good saves as a product of their aura. At the end of the day, it feels more of not knowing what to do for the other martials to bring them closer to paladins, so they brought the paladins closer.
>>96879332That's actually the correct answer.
>>96879507>not knowing what to do for the other martials to bring them closer to paladinsPlease just bake Martial Adept into all martial classes at this point. The feat tax on martials is super real and it sucks.
>>96879595>spoilerExcept Paladins. They really do not need it.
>>96879617I meant more for the full martials. Sorry Ranger.
>>96879617>Two level dip in PalI wish the Save Bonus happened at 3, I can't justify 6 in most campaigns. Still, that would be too strong.Smite is fun, even in 2024, I actually don't mind the changes, as long as my DM allows me to choose to Smite after I get a crit so long as I have my Bonus Action still.
>>96878706I initially thought that the secondary casters required concentration to assist in that Magic Action. Turns out that's only if the spell has a 1-minute or longer casting time. So with a Wizard and a Cleric, they could go:>Wizard: I want to have a 1-hour-long Greater Invisibility spell. Cleric, you okay with expending a 1st-level spell slot to help me with that?>Cleric: Sure, as long as you're okay with expending a 1st-level spell slot to prolong this 3rd-level Bless to the party for 1 hour.>Wizard: Deal! They can simply do this out of combat in like 12 seconds.
>>96878706Not a fucking chance I would allow even 25% of this in my games, I'm getting a headache from just beginning to think how my players would abuse it
>>96878706Very silly and senseless rules. If more magic = those effects, then why can none of that be achievable by up-casting? I'll happily let two players cast the same spell cooperatively, it'll result in the spell level increasing and doing whatever the fuck happens when you up-cast that particular spell. So much complexity for so little depth, horrible game design.
Is it alright to ask for build advice here, comrades?
>>96881754No, but if that stops you you're too weaksauce for making optimized characters anyway
>>96881754If its for 5E or 5.5E, go ahead
>>96881824Touche. I just wanted to be polite.>>96881825Thank you.>2024, 5.5 EditionBackstory time. Our table has had a long-time player ask to be the DM for the first time. They're brand new and running their own custom campaign. I’m not in love with their story telling but they’re trying and I’m all for it, but they suck at balancing combat. Both our normal DM and I have given advice, but they’re more stubborn than a Modron. Our fights are either a complete joke or a borderline TPK with no in between. >FOURTEEN Giant Rats all at once when we were level one as a party of four. >Not spaced out. All at once in a cramped room. There were more rats than empty tiles.>Next fight was three Goblins for an entire adventuring day.>Cakewalk or chaos. They really don’t seem to get the multiple encounters per day mantra and have been dumping everything at us all at once. They’re trying to improve, but we’re now level 5 and my druid has become the victim of this pendulum of imbalance. He’s actually trying to use a lot of custom lore so Intelligence skills aren’t completely useless and he’s added a decent bit of social challenges in urban environments. He’s using a mega city on a newly discovered continent and blah blah blah. He is keeping us massively gold and item starved. The party has about 2-3 magic items between the entire group. We currently have have:>Fiend Warlock playing decently optimized>Bladesinger Wizard who is going extremely melee focused as a tank for some reason>Thief Rogue played by a brand new player who is learning the ropes.>My Druid’s incinerated corpse, after the Warlock was possessed and fireballed.
>>96881952Our DM knew he fucked up with the fight and has been debating a free 'Your druid somehow survived' but myself and another player expressed we'd prefer to play ball and do something new. He's been waffling but finally made his decision. Now I've got about 3 hours before the session (he just decided) to finalize a build.I now need to make a new character going off of 2024 core rules + most D&D Beyond content (They insist). 1 free general feat at level 1, multiclass restrictions apply. But I’m at a loss for what to make. I want to make something that can survive his learning pains without being sadistic to him as a new DM. Any suggestions? Otherwise I’m debating on Rogue (1) > Knowledge Cleric (X) and grabbing Rogue (2) after Cleric (5) for a combination of Spirit Guardian movement and skill monkey, but I’m also open to ideas.I feel like I need to throw something AoE centric because the DM keeps adding too way too many enemy combatants and mooks who do decent damage but have low health.DM has expressed he'd rather see a new class (Not Druid) and our Bladesinger doesn't want another Wizard in the party.
>>96881973The two levels in rogue slows down you're spellcasting quite a bit for not much in return. It would probably be better to just go full cleric.>Bladesinger doesn't want another WizardHe is aware that another wizard would effectively double his known spells, right?
>>96882055Yeah, I knew it would slow me down which would suck. I only considered it so the additional Expertise so the DM could have his "feel good" moments sharing his world building. >Is he awareHe is aware and dumb. To quote him, "I'd just prefer something else."
>>96881973>>96882067Knowledge Cleric already gives you expertise in two Int skills, and as long as you pick things that the Bladesinger Wizard doesn't already have, then it should be covered well enough in terms of lore. You could take Thaumaturge to help with that more, although that means giving up Heavy Armor. Spirit Guardians should do a decent job of helping against hordes of enemies. May want to grab War Caster or Resilient Con for the sake of concentration. Word of Radiance also might not be a bad cantrip in those contexts. Taking Magic Initiate so you can get Shield could also be a strong choice, since then you can better weather an assault by all those rats and survive to ensure you get off a bigger AoE spell.
>>96882117Our resident Bladesinger only picked up Arcana. Both our Thief and Warlock dumped Int, so it left Religion, History, and Nature open. I'll probably just settle for the Knowledge Cleric's base expertise and give up on Rogue though, so thanks for the advice.>Thaumaturge I had the same thought. It'll sting to give up Heavy Armor, but Dex is better anyway. I was already going to dump Str if I went Rogue (2). >War Caster and ResilientWar Caster was going to be my free level 1 and I was considering +2 Wis or Resilient with my level 4. >Magic Initiate ShieldTrust me, I planned on it. I had it on my Druid too. Any other combinations you could think of for this party comp or suggestions? Otherwise it sounds like I'll just go Mono Knowledge Cleric.
>>96881952>>96881973If all you want is to survive, Barbarian is great at that, plus it looks like your party is missing some damage. Kalashtar is a great race (species now I guess) for that class since they get advantage on Wis saves which are well known to fuck barbarians up, but if you're PHB only for species then Gnome will do that same thing, but Gnomes are cringe. Halberd's cleave property will also get a lot of value if the DM is throwing way too much at you, so that's the weapon I would recommend you build toward, and don't worry, small character can use heavy weapons just fine in 2024e.As for actually strategizing around way too many enemies, I recommend going Valor Bard. Hypnotic Pattern will shut down a lot of enemies at once and seriously eat into the DM's action economy, plus you'll have medium armor proficiency to keep yourself safe. For feats I recommend Resilient (CON) at first level to boost your HP and saves, War Caster is fine too but Resilient is the more defensive of that two and I would prioritize that heavily in this context. At 4th I would take Defensive Duelist for Temu Shield, same reasoning.>>96882144Not every skill need to be covered, the wizard will have lots of INT to get by with. Focus on making your character to their strengths, that will give you win conditions to play towards. Focusing on your party's weaknesses isn't always a bad thing, but having strengths is always more important than not having weaknesses.
>>96882202Barbarian is great for soaking up damage but I'd have gone for Paladin for the party wide save bonuses. But I figured it would be better to either CC or AoE down the mobs they're overusing.>RacesPHB only or I'd be using Satyr for the Magic Resistance. >Valor BardThis was actually an option I had considered before trying to include some Skill Monkey in the build. I was going to do Fighter (1) > Valor if I did it for the weapon masteries and Con proficiency if I did, though, but once again it slows down caster progression. Not only that but it pushes Extra Attack + Cantrip even further away.
>>96882144>>96882258Conquest Paladin comes to mind as an option, since the Aura there debilitates enemies in addition to helping allies.Could also combine that with Aasimar for other AoE fear/damage
>>96882258You don't need weapon masteries on Valor bard, you're a full caster. What do you want weapon masteries for anyway? Vex on your rapier, when you're going to use your action to heal next turn anyway? Nick on your scimitar, when you should be using True Strike and it won't even activate? The only reason to ever dip on a full caster is for armor proficiency, but Valor bard already has that. If you're going to pick Bard or pick Cleric, either way, just go full class.
>>96882290NTA but...>Vex on your rapier, when you're going to use your action to heal next turn anyway? Wouldn't most be using their Bonus Action for this via Healing Word? Why not continue to attack?>Nick, on your scimitar, when you should be using True Strike, and it won't even activate?Valor Bards get to cast Cantrips with their Extra Attack, so they can use Nick alongside using True Strike. In fact, they might be one of the best classes at using Nick due to having access ti Conjure Minor Elementals or Spirit Shroud. More attacks boost those spells
>>96882311>Wouldn't most be using their Bonus Action for this via Healing Word? No, Cure Wounds is mega buffed.>Valor Bards get to cast Cantrips with their Extra Attack, so they can use Nick alongside using True Strike. Not at 5 they can't, and while that build will in fact do a lot of damage, being overwhelmed by low power mobs means defensive play is much better. Having +2 AC from a shield won't mean shit when a Giant with +16 to hit is swinging at you, but when 8 different things with +5 to hit are swinging at you that +2 to AC is going to significantly reduce your expected time to die. Also, even if you were going for a CME focus build eventually, that is a high level spell and you would absolutely not want to delay it by multi-classing, just use your bonus action for the two-weapon fighting attack and call it good.
it's amazing how much worse the new team is than the old team, and that's saying something
well this new book is dogshit, what a surpriseback to reading old 3.5 and PF content for gameplay systems and lore to adapt
>>96882627Third party publishers and old books are way to go. 5.5e is fine I guess if you ignore the woke garbage artwork and house rule it heavily. If they ever make a 6e it will be complete and utter trash.
>>96882854>Buys salt>Is mad cause it's too saltyJust take the parts you like. The best game mode is whatever is the most fun. For the most part, I accept 5.5e's limitations, while also having a system for crafting, combat, and RP I like.
I offer my 2014 and 2024 players the following:>**Paladin's Smite.** Once per turn when you hit a creature and do not cause the attack to deal additional damage from a "Smite" spell or effect, you can use your Divine Smite feature on that attack.>You can use your Divine Smite feature without expending a spell slot as if you had expended a first-level slot. The effective level increases when you gain additional levels in this class to 2nd level at Paladin level 5, 3rd at Paladin level 9, 4th at Paladin level 13 and 5th at Paladin level 17.>**Divine Smite.** (as 2014)One smite per turn, doesn't cost a BA, doesn't stack with spells/Eldritch Smite, can use on opp. attack, free use which scales.>>96879747>as long as my DM allows me to choose to Smite after I get a crit so long as I have my Bonus Action stillExactly how it works RAW. They'd have to houserule it to not let you do that.
>>96882861Piling on just to call bullshit on the Cleric getting heavier hits with every attack while Pal gets dick for Divine Strike.
>>96882861>Exactly how it works RAWIn the old phb. In the nu-phb you have to cast the spell before the hit.
>>96882877>In the old phb. In the nu-phb you have to cast the spell before the hit.>2024 Divine Smite: Casting Time: Bonus action, which you take immediately after hitting a target with a Melee weapon or an Unarmed Strike
If your wizard could only use spells from one school, which one would it be?
>>96882988Elementary, my dear Watson.
>>96882859I do much the same. I have a 4 page document of house rules. I’ve found as time goes on many 5.5e rules are a bit silly and poorly thought out. Like their rules for switching weapons mid attack. Weapon masteries are a good addition, I think I annoy my players by giving them to NPCs too but why wouldn’t they master weapons as well?
>>96878706>>96882598A 4th-level Earth Tremor with Augment is really funny. With 6 secondary casters (Who do not need to expend a spell slot), that's a 5280-foot grounded emanation. It doesn't damage objects or structures, but it does have a chance of harming creatures, so if you cast this in like a village or small town, you'd probably kill most people and animals there if you're lucky, while also causing massive difficult terrain. Augment a Dimension Door to 1500 Feet! The secondary caster doesn't even have to expend a slot for it; they could just hitch a boosted teleport ride! I'm unsure how Distant Spell Metamagic works here. Idk if you double the spell's range after or before Augment is taken into effect. If it's before, that's a 2000-foot teleport, if it's after 3000-feet!It's crazy that you can do this without having the secondary caster have to use concentration or expend a spell slot- you just gotta be able to get a turn before the primary caster loses concentration.
>>96879471It's a buff. As a spell, it can be buffed by spell effects.
>>96883138>I have a 4 page document of house rules.>he hasn't completely rewritten his own PHB by this point
>>96883172Vortex Warp and Thunder Step also work really well with Augment. Vortex Warp an ally 1090 feet somewhere that you can see.
>>96882877Did you even read the 2024 spell before posting this?
>>96878706Distribute can be used with the Summon X spells out of combat to effectively have multiple Summons going at once. You can offset the concentration to another ally caster, then cast the Summon spell again for you/another ally to Concentrate on. I don't know if that's worth the cost, but since the spells last 1 Hour and doesn't cost the ally any spell slot, I could see it actually kinda working.
Build anon from earlier. The Bladesinger has now joined my Druid in death. DM sweating bullets.
>>96883182At that point I’d play a different game. Other d20 games I’ve played and enjoyed are 13th Age, Iron Heroes, and Castles and Crusades. I could take the elements I like most from all of them but for now I’m enjoying trying 5.5e.
My group had a nice Halloween session in a non-Euclidean haunted house with four encounters against various crustaceans. I hope everyone else had a good time this Halloween.
>>96883431Had an administrative session for my Star Wars Saga session, strangely was fun despite it being the party maneuvering around bureaucracy shit
>>96876165How come there are no elemental, fiendish and fey sorcerer subclasses? It seems like wasted potential.
>>96883606>ElementalTechnically, storm sorcerer, but I know what you mean. It'd be nice>Fiendishiirc for the same reason a dragon patron doesn't exist, wotc wants to keep the two classes narratively different>FeyThis is wild magic

>>96878706I haven't looked into what people have been cooking up, but I will be preemptively banning the option. I'm sure people have/will come up with ways to abuse it. It being a feature of Faerun and my campaigns not taking place in Faerun gives me a nice excuse to use other than "because I said so".
>>96876165>TQAs helpful as the players want them to be. It's fine if, occasionally, an NPC gives bad information in the right circumstances.
>>96878706Way too powerful. I've got my own set of overhauled rules changes + Classes for 2024 and I took it and nerfed some of the more broken options. The Secondary Casters must also have the spell being cast prepared or in their spellbook, and use a slot of the same level as the Primary Caster's slot to participate, among other changes. The concept? Great, fun, flavorful. The execution? Poor. I have no clue how this got out of playtesting in its current state. But hey, the new UA glazes monks more so at least they're doing something right after gutting purple dragon knight into a dogshit useless subclass.>WAHHH THAT ISNT WHAT A PURPLE DRAGON KNIGHT IS!I don't care, dragon pet > whatever lazy shit they printed in the new faerun book.
>>96884106Irori, Master of Masters, is the god of enlightenment, self-perfection, knowledge, healing, and inner strength. His followers claim that he was once a mortal who achieved absolute physical and mental perfection and thus attained divinity of his own volition. He is one of the core gods of, if not the most powerful deity of, the Vudran pantheon but is also worshiped widely in Tian Xia and has a growing following in the Inner Sea region as well.

Progression is different, features are mostly different with lots of new ones (including Martial Strikes, which are just aoe powers from 4e for the most part tweaked to work in 5e).
>>96885078A quick Google Search pointed me to the Zakharan pantheon, which together embodies enlightenment. Alternatively, Padhra?

>>96885490What are some OP combos you can think up or have seen for Augment? Dimension Door, Thunder Step, Vortex Warp, and Earth Tremor is all I can really think up. So many spells require line of sight and 1000+ feet if really big, it's unlikely you could take advantage of that. This is all out of combat, too. In combat, it's tricky to use this mechanic. For the other options I got:Distribute (Offset concentration to someone else): Doesn't require spell slots from Secondaries-Out of Combat: Summon X (Such as Fey, Dragon, Celestial, Fiend, etc), Danse Macabre, and Pre-Combat Buff Spells. -In Combat: Wall Spells and Damage over Time Spells Expand (Increase radius, emanation, cube, or width of spell by 10 feet per secondary): Does require at least a 1st-level spell slot from Secondaries-Out of Combat: Pre-Combat Emanation Spells-In Combat: All Action cast time Emanation Spells and AOE Control Spells- Wall of Force?Prolong (Increase the duration of the spell by 1 Hour with one secondary or 8 Hours with four secondaries, or 24 Hours with seven secondaries.): Does require at least a 1st-level spell slot from Secondaries-Out of Combat: All Action cast time Single Target/Mass/Self 1 or 10 Minute buff/emanation spells (Bless, Blink, Blur, Fly, Giant Insect, Haste, Conjure Minor Elementals, Conjure Woodland Beings, Conjure Celestial, Aura of Vitality, Greater Invisibility, Spirit Guardians, Mirror Image, etc), Delayed Blast Fireball, Illusory Dragon-In Combat: Prismatic Wall
>>96885593>What are some OP combos you can think up or have seen for Augment?First thing I can think of is making enemies that fly high up plummet to their death with tasha's hideous laughter

>>96887332>>96887381Two different adventures but nice, more detailed than I thought. I don't suppose you have the level 6 one, "If Looks Could Kill"? That's the one I was thinking about buying for my one-shot if it matched my wants. Though the quality of the ones you linked me already seems pretty good enough to buy it.
>>96883172now I'm picturing an adventure where you have to track down the 8 casters who are destroying the countryside via Earth tremors. (the 8'th is for the safeguard effect)
>>96887440https://files.catbox.moe/m07fro.pdf
>>96887409Female half-elf Ranger with wolf companion.
>>96887480Yeah, think I'll buy this, the dungeon's basically just what I wanted. Thanks
Wizard
How do you guys do "fog of war" for dungeons when using physical maps? Just cover that shit up with lots of paper? There has to be a better way
>>96887526you just know
>>96887537
HumanFemaleChampion Fighter
>>96887540Yeah, it's called "don't use maps that have everything already laid out on them". Just use segments for the immediate area, or just draw new areas with a marker if you're using a marker-friendly medium.
>>96887548https://www.youtube.com/shorts/8GhBubSOPrA
>>96887548
>>96887460A spell can only be effected by a single Circle Casting bonus effect. The primary caster will be safe from the Earth Tremor, but the others... Well, they could just get off the ground, climb a tree or something and support from 30 feet.
>>96887537We do be Bladesinging around here.
>>96887720oh I must have missed that part. it still is a fun idea though
>>96887540Things are only conveyed to the players as the characters learn them.
my new dm is a woman, what am I getting myself into
>>96888261>Playing with women at allDon't do it in general
>>96888261In my experience, a very horny dm
>>96888261Pic related.
>>96888261Depends entirely on her personality and interests, but they tend to be heavier on RP than combat, with some exceptions
>>96888261the female dm I played with was heavy on feywild/alice in wonderland/wild magic stuff
What makes a good 5e campaign?
>>96887749cool although I never liked Asian aesthetics
>>96888581Horrible monsters, dastardly villains, devious plots, glittering treasures, exciting locales, kissable princesses, musical numbers, a large quantity of elephants, and at least one guy who sounds like Ed Wynn.
>>96888261That sounds like a question you should be asking your DM. She'll be able to tell you more about her style of DMing and what type of campaign or one shot she'll be running.
>>96888753Nah, asking random strangers to project onto his new DM sounds a lot more fun. I'm going with "running a Gamma World game masquerading as fantasy".
>>96888587Nah, son. Dastardly treasure, devious princesses, glittering monsters, horrible locales, kissable villains, musical elephants, a large quantity of numbers, and at least one guy who sounds like Ed Wynn.
>>96889074Unironically a compelling combination as well.
>>96883609>ElementalThey made the four you'd want in Unearthed Arcana. Water: https://dnd5e.wikidot.com/sorcerer:sea-sorcery-uaEarth: https://dnd5e.wikidot.com/sorcerer:stone-sorcery-uaFire: https://dnd5e.wikidot.com/sorcerer:phoenix-sorcery-ua But only Air made it into print:https://dnd5e.wikidot.com/sorcerer:storm-sorceryThis was just a failure in development, that's all. All three of the dropped ones are mostly ok and could even be used straight. The one with extra attack is probably a bit too good when combined with paladin (for a 5.0 game). More work would be needed to play them in 5.5. As for fiendish and fey, I really do think these would be at cross paths with warlocks. They would certainly not be impossible though.
>>96889510NTA but sea sorc works perfectly for an adventurer NPC in my campaign. This was interesting to see. I'd have to read the fire sorc, but I know that there's a pyromancer subclass in one of the planeshift books.
>>96884646Probably just an extension of Mearls wanting to get rid of all player choices other than subclasses.
What did i thunk about call of the deep campaign?
I will start a "horror" campaign next week end.I will put my fetishes in it
>>96889992>I will put my fetishes in itbased
Give me an item name and I will make for you an item.
>>96890135Belt of engorgement
I ran my first one-shot last night lads. Had to stop a few times to sort out how shit worked but everyone seemed to have fun so that was nice.
>>96890135The Throngler
>>96884646Which feat were you eyeing?
>>96890225
>>96890135Glaive of the Hornswoggled
>>96890265
>>96890135Spear of the last dawn
>>96890337
>>96878706For a brief shining moment, I thought I could finally Eldritch Blast the Moon. And then, the cuckolds put a limit on it. Still, it brings up the limit of Eldritch Sniping up to 1 Mile, 5280 feet and 1164 5' squares or hexes.
>>96890369Typo
My Halfling Rogue spent a lot of the one shot I ran perched on top of the Wood Elf Barbarian. When it came time to roll initiative for combat, I just took the higher of their two rolls and let them both use it, but I also want to discourage them from trying to metagame this. Do I just have them roll seperately going forward or keep doing what I was doing but have them roll with disadvantage?
>>96890307This one is OP af. Every feat should be like this. You can even remove Versatile Merc and still more useful than the rest of the feats.
>>96889510>wikidotFor what fucking reason?
>>96890135Enforcer's cudgel
>>96890546This looks amazing for a rogue
>>96890639For any melee, better for a rogue, marvelous for a swashbuckler. The bad thing of it? you have to be Zentharim 100%. I don't see logic nor sense on locking these kinds of feat exclusively on one setting.
>>96890673I think the logic is to prevent everyone from taking it.
>>96890722>To avoid people on using this badass feat, we're going to lock it behind a Setting and specific Faction>Everyone becomes a Zentharim ruffianNothing personel, kid
>>96890886>The reason the Zhents have such influence in the realms is because they offer genuinely useful character optionsDevilishly cunning.
the game was already dogshit but everything they do makes it worseit's honestly impressive
>>96890135Tin of Many Mints
>>96890546Could you not just re-flavor this feat into something else? Tie it to a different faction relevant to the setting you're playing in? Or even just rename both into generic names?>Zhentarim Ruffian---> Ruffian>Zhentarim Tactics---> Ruffian TacticsNothing stops a character from getting an Origin Feat as an ASI or from Lessons of the First Ones. So technically you don't have to have a background as a Zhentarim to get access to it!
Do Dan Coleman's adventures not come with non-GM versions of the maps? They're high quality otherwise but that's such a weird thing to exclude
>>96884646Only no games care about subclasses. if you're in a game, you probably ALREADY have a subclass, and are looking for other options to customize your character or increase their power.each book should be coming up with new FEATS to change how the game works and interactractions players can do.
>>96891933My mention on subclasses was to contrast the 5e books where you had 2 or 3 subclasses per class in each book.
>>96891878My complain is not that i'm not capable of doing that (hell, why not even change the flavor so i don't have to be a ruffian) but the design ethos of whoever came up that restriction.
>>96890407You can't Eldritch Blast the moon, but you can Spellfire Flare the moon! This is basically Eldritch Blast, but it's a 1st-level+ spell, so it's kind of meh.
>>96892174Also, you can't Circle Cast with cantrips. Spells using spell slots only!
I'm interested in playing as a farmer druid... what subclass would you recommend for a beginner?
>>96892253Circle of the Land
>>96892253Either Land or Dreams. Land just boosts your spellcasting in a general way, and Dreams offers extra healing and utility with some features that are relatively basic.
>>96891933No-games is not the same as caring about future games. You can desire more options than what you presently use in a game, especially if you aren't happy with the ones present. Plus, people like to make back-up characters. Having more feats is important, but subclasses contribute more overall features to a character and are important for flavoring your options.
>>96891880If you bought them from DriveThru RPG you get the player safe maps. It'll be in your library.
so i imported the map into roll20 however it doesn't fit. how do i fix this?
>>96893307You can resize the backdrop and/or the map itself to fit. If you go to the page settings there is an option to expand the backdrop to a size that will accommodate the map without having to resize it.
Question: Do your adventurers eat the monster they kill? Such a waste of good meat if you do not.
>>96890602
>>96892942Oh I see, thanks
>>96891661
>>96890135Faithbreaker (Mace)
>>96892315>>96892301I forgot to mention that I can only use subclasses of 2024, I don't know if that changes the answer in any way
>>96894069Circle of the Land is 2024
5e Queen’s Blade(HobbyJapan)Release date 2026
>>96894173oh ok... I've been taking a look at it and it looks pretty good. Basically, it seems to increase my druid's versatility by adding more spells.
