Detective by chance, and by nature, not by profession. More intersted in knowing the reason for things than fixing them but doesn't lack empathy, as much as it may seem othewise. Just came back from a relatively normal city and Awakened (Reunited).
I am still unsure of a couple of things, like if Goth would fit more than Geeky for him. I also don't know how to handle the arranged marriage, I am not sure if it's supposed to be a PC or an NPC, I am open to suggestions, I only took it because it felt like the only other life event that fits even if barely.

I will probably just take it away at this point but it seemed fitting as the one last connection to his past that he had no control over, nothing romantic about that, if anything it's a hindrance.

It's a bit overpowered than what I had in mind (especially regenerating in seconds) but it's something I can work with. It kinda reminds me of, and forgive the comparison, dark souls. You're living within the ruins of an age long past, and while you can come back from any damage you take, your mind might not be able to handle the hardship. Though, this is inherently more hopeful. What kind of stories do you want to write with this? There's not much to suggest for customization other than what you've said about freely picking abilities since there's not much in it to begin with.

DBZ is one of the few anime Kaoru actually kinda cares about. Her grandparents used to get her the manga periodically when she was little. As a big sentai fan, she likes the Great Saiyaman. Missed it last thread, but good work on Episode 3! Kenji's characterization was really good, I like that he views Kohaku as a kindered spirit and tries to reign in Kentaro the whole time. Che being a ghost buster/glowie kind of guy is more interesting than I thought it would be, he was cool in this episode. Normally I would think the HLA would try to confront/contract him in a Bleeding Zone to conceal their identity, but it makes sense they can't plan for one without a Tamagochi - and Kenji would probably think 'it's a sure thing, why bother hiding?'

Looking forward to the conflict it causes with the other HLA members, and seeing how Kohaku deals with the aftermath of introducing Che to the Idea World/Awakened situation at the school.

Candyman. Too familiar and sympathetic, and Kenji naturally is more fearful of supernatural threats than something mundane like Leatherface. He loves the bee scene from a cinematography perspective though.

He used to be most afraid of Freddy, but felt that he got too cartoony later on in the series - Kenji doesn't even rewatch any Nightmare on Elm Street films beyond the third one.

Much appreciated - the HLA's presence (though probably not their identities) will be revealed when Team Ken confronts the Fujiwara Senki, so that should open up an investigation from Kaoru, Yae, and the rest of the student council. Looking forward to The Riddle part 2!

Kaoru was born to fairly well-off psychologists, who were working on some high-profile research. Little Kaoru had a friend by the name of Nadeko. Nadeko's parents used their daughter to get close to Kaoru's parents, and with the riots as an excuse, they gunned down Kaoru's parents in her own home before her grandfather could arrive to take her away. The gunmen were never found, and Kaoru never saw Nadeko again. Since the age of 7, Kaoru's been raised by her grandparents. Yes. The one person Kaoru has (comfortably) ever called a friend. And just because she trusted her, because she didn't think something could go wrong, her parents died. Kaoru blames herself for this, and now she has massive trust issues. She suspects EVERYONE because the one time she let her guard down, admittedly she was 7 years old, she was tragically betrayed. Her detective skills surged out of attention to detail, thoroughness and a massive lack of trust for pretty much everyone and everything. But, every time she works together with the Student Council, the more she starts to realise that, perhaps, her distrust is misplaced. She's extremely stubborn about this. Her tsundere attitudes are basically a way for her to protect her fragile heart and prevent herself from exposing it to anyone, even if she's just as human as anyone else. She deeply craves to be friends with all of them, with Ai, (maybe a little bit more with) Takaishi, and others, but she won't bring herself to take that step and come clean to them about her struggles.

I've referenced The Scarlet Pimpernel, the novel and its 1997 Broadway musical adaptation, a lot. The author, Baroness Orczy, moved from Russia to Budapest and later Great Britain due to proletariat revolts in the late 19th century. The Scarlet Pimpernel is about a guy that fights the Reign of Terror. Basically, when I created Kaoru I had this idea that good and evil don't lie with people's class, but rather their actions. The riots stuck out to me in the lore, I wanted this character to have been slighted by the rioters and gained a rebellious outlook, even against those who would be considered the rebellious ones. Kaoru thinks everyone has the potential for evil. She's learning to change her mind, little by little. I've also been thinking about using her parents and their research as a plot device eventually, probably for the glowies.

Tetsuya's first two life events are basically just background stuff. Transfer Student to say he came out of town, and Part-Time Jobber via an online shell (and a small stipend from his parents probably) is how he supports himself.
Famous is more important. He made the local news for... um... you know in public, and being detained for a day by the police before being let out with a warning. Part of the reason it was televized was actually because it was being used to draw attention away from a disappearance story the police were embarassed by because they had zero fucking clue what happened. No one really knows much about the circumstances related to it. Or why Tetsuya was touching himself in public. This will be semi-important later.
I also had no idea Something Evil exists and might slide that in over Part-Time Jobber. Definitely would have had that if I knew it was there. Doesn't matter much because Something Evil lurks around him anyway, and I have another option to justify it enough.

For Liren I didn't have enough information on other builds so I just went with what made sense. Raised by relatives is a way to appear later since I just came back, and it's slightly more interesting than transfer student. Part time job is just a neat fitting way to be independent, and it's something that can act as a plot hook for a lot of things. I already talked about Arranged marriage, it's not ship baiting, I just wanted a connection to the past with no control on his part, and socialization was not really an option even if it is now, I am still unsure about it but I wouldn't know how to change it and just deciding to attach myself to another PC after showing up out of nowhere feels a bit wrong. The target for the marraige was supposed to be an NPC, after I got less sick I had doubts if the cyoa intended for it to be a PC instead.

I've always been partial to the "character is talking to someone who is asking about the builds" method. Also gives a short hand for how you feel your build talks and interacts, it's extremely good for purposes of a chart I feel.

Feels like it should either be Ran or Madoka just based on vibes. Ran getting hurt feels like a JoJo moment where a JoBro gets hurt. Madoka getting hurt feels like a more classic shonen scene. She feels like the Lucy/Orihime/etc of the group if that makes any sense.

He supposed to be a Rebel/quirky mix, but there is no proper mix in the cyoa rules for it so I went with Alien instead. I just like the Master powers more, or rather Assault isn't worth it unless I invest everything in it to get the same concept, so the rebellion is mostly in the attitude, I guess listing how he disregards the police wasn't enough to get that across. Good luck convincing him to follow any kind of order.

You can hurt Ran if yoh want. It'd be easy to do considering he's the tank. I havent volunteered before, because I just worry that because of his role and his perks it won't thave the appropriate impact. Like, even if his hurt, witj Catharsia and Awakened Bulletproof he'd likely just push through it, and if it's in the Idolon form then there is also Phoenix Down and Lifesteal to deal with.
