>>96909638Alright so this is bad but you're first 20 models will be terrible. The idea here is that you mostly painted in the lines and put a lot of effort into a single model. You didn't really know what you were doing but you tried. Take this and slow it down, work on basic intercessors - clean up your metallics. Try priming white with a spray can and then watery layering your blues twiceover. Take your time with it and keep painting. Don't go back to redo this guy (except when you redo his base at the end). Don't get discouraged - but clean up your painting area. Get 9 papertowels on a flat board, put your paints into a shoebox, and keep your area clean. Clean up trash. You also need to look at tutorials for basing after you've painted a few more models. Some really basic steps or texuture paint + your flock is what you're going to go for. What you have now for basing is a hard no from anywhere.

Anyone know how to stop the grainy looking paint from drybrushing? Its fine for sharp surfaces but for something like skin i tend to use contrast and from a distance it looks fine but once I take a photo and post it here for example it looks hilariously bad

All the things you're struggling with are things that can be solved via the proper process, the only one of those that is up to feel and experience is thinning paint, which is something that is hard to wrap your head around, but becomes easier the more you do it, AND the closer you pay attention to what you are doing when picking up water, picking up paint, and mixing them. How deep are you dipping your brush in your water cup(yes this matters, where do you think the water further up on your brush goes after you rinse it), how much paint are you picking up to place on your palette, how long are you painting for before rinsing your brush and reloading? Take all of that into account and literally anything else you are doing with your water and your paint.
