Using your tongue to spread the Varnish evenly on models, I have yet to see someone use this technique other than myself. Its way better than spray/brush, give it a shot.

I can live with the rest but the C'tan I just entirely despise. They just made a datasheet that is completely fucking broken and cannot be interacted with in any sort of meaningful way then they went uhhh they move 6'' so it's okay, just run away from them the whole game :). So painfully unfun.
>>

If you find that GW's love for putting mold lines on the most visible part of a ribbed surface like plasma coils is driving you insane, using a brush-applicator with plastic glue like the one in Tamiya Extra-Thin Cement fill in your bingo card square does a pretty good job of getting rid of them. Put a thin sweep of glue down and then brush back and forth with the applicator until you see them blending down.
>>
>>96917194
Brush back and forth parallel to the ribs* in case that needs clarification.
>>
I finally finished my Archon. I love how this scheme turned out even though It took me a while to actually decide on the colors I wanna use. I also wish I could have fit the symbol somewhere on the model itself rather than the base, but I think it fits nicely still.

Post the latest models you guys finished

Went to the shifting Fronts event today at warhammer world, it was fun and I took my guard with me. Lost games 1 and 2 but won game 3.

Game 1: Imperial Knights, practically wiped off the board only scored 10 for painted
Game 2: Necrons, scored 25 points probably should have positioned things more but the terrain was pretty bad in terms of getting lines of sight
Game 3: super close got 53 whilst opponent got 47, mission was siphon power and I was able to keep him locked out of moving up mostly by keeping him on edge with deep striking scions and blocking with tanks.

Mission deck we were playing was the asymmetric warfare from chapter approved 2025

Pic is from start of game 3

They'd have to get past 4+ invuln into halved damage into FNP for the remaining damage. I've shot the DG deathstar (10 plague marines with full hit and wound rerolls + lethals + crits on 5s) plus two blighthaulers (2+ to hit 3+ to wound D6 weapons). It did 6 wounds. Then I charged with a Lord of Contagion + 3 deathshrouds and they managed 3 more wounds. He swung back and killed all terminators (obviously). In total that was 815 points of extremely deadly units thrown at him and he survived with 3 wounds then healed 3 next turn.

The only reasonable way to deal with one is to simply assume that it's not a killable model whatsoever. It's like a Tonberry from Final Fantasy, it moves slow, you cannot kill it, and whatever it touches is dead. Just a pure chore to play against.

I still don't understand why they added this as a pity vehicle, along with the master of executions, when they share both (and berzerkers) with mainline chaos. Like they lose a bunch of mainline chaos stuff, but don't even get exclusivity to compensate. Just like my last gf.
>>

>Do codex compliant chapters all use the same color markings for their different companies?
First off, I'm assuming you are referring to the colors themselves, not just the placing of those colors. (Codex and Ultramarines have the color on the shoulder rims, loadsa other chapters have it on one of the kneepads)
Second, remember that there can be a lot of variation between what fits inside a single color. "Yellow," could also be gold, green could be drab forest or sea green.

But beyond that, do whatever you want. It makes a lot of sense for chapters to change the color of company markings, but there should nearly always be a way for themselves to tell which company the marine belongs to.
Maybe you change a single color because otherwise it would be the same color as the base armor. Maybe a different color looks better. You decide.
The most important thing is that you have a consistent rule AND you think it looks good.

Separate thing

Also deldar heavily rely on their skyboats and dark lances to quickly run down the enemy before htey get murdered because they have no toughness and suck. They also have monsters sometimes.

Eldar have like 10 different playstyles with different shit likke yunnari and ghost boys and corsairs and guardians and vehicles and aspect warriors. Quins are basically just a subset of this, they don't have enough models for people to differentiate between "quins who rely on solitaries to win" or "quins who rely o vehicles to win" or whatever.

I don't understand why people are complaining about "traitor guard not having this or that" or "Why won't GW let me blah blah"... doesn't the Core Rulebook explicitly say that you can do whatever you want because it's your models and time and imagination and such? Like, if you are making Traitor Guard army and you want to have a Basilisk or whatever the fuck, then who exactly is telling you no, you cannot do that? Buy, build, paint the kit to match your boys, print out the the points cost and datasheet for the unit from whatever book it comes from and play with it. Like actually who is stopping you from doing that? My Dark Eldar have a Fire Prism they stole. Call the cops, it has stats and points. My 2000 pts of models on the table vs your 2000 pts, it doesn't fucking matter what book the stats come out of. Just have some fun, stop being such Nancy's

no, it only works on certain plastics, 3d printed bits are in resin

What about kitbashing? Any cheap(ish) units that come with a bunch of cloaks?
>>
>>96918881
sword brethren are probably one of your best bangs for your buck if you want first party capes, 5 per box
>>
>>96918873
You can get decent minis out of FDM, but it requires:
-specific filaments
-specific settings
-a tiny hotend that is prone to clogs and spitting out 300 degree plastic on your hands whilst you try to troubleshoot it
-multiple batches
-model complexity no greater than Space Marines (so no faces)

Great for vehicles though.
>>
>>96918825
Not even shitposting but maybe you have a motor skill disorder. Look up refillable wax pens for rhinestone/bedazzling/nail art. They're full of a sticky wax than can grab small plastic things without sticking to it permanently.
>>
>>96918771

Ĵust a note with the wax pens, they are coming from China. I don't know if the wax in the pen you recieve will leave behind a residue. Consider a light scrub for the model after just to be safe, doesn't hurt to knock any finger oils and plastic dust from the model

Yeah, I find admech cloaks easy to attach to space marines. Just use some greenstuff to smooth over any rough parts you have trouble with.
>>
>>96918909
You just thin your paints way down and work in a lot of layers covering slightly less than the last layer each time to build up a smooth gradient
contrasts can work but for smooth things like necron blades they can be slightly trickier, cleaning them up is no more complicated than covering the mistake with white and then contrasting over it again
>>

>glazing and layering is easier than people make it out to be
It still sucks and takes forever.
>>
>>96918911
Oh hey, weeping angels anon

How many points of models do you have done?
>>
>>96918898
To transplant a cloak you need something that matches the exact contour of your model. With your own cloak, you are making those contours, so it'll fit however you like. Consult pic related. Pick up a pack of greenstuff, and a pack of milliput and mix them 50:50 as your sculpting material. It's much more forgiving than straight greenstuff because you can smooth it with water like clay, and it sands much nicer than greenstuff
>>
>>96918919
I see. I thought the texture/finish would be fucked up if you correct contrast mistakes. Would you recommend doing normal paint blades or contrast blades then?

you are bad at the game if you don't understand why this is. By agreeing that a unit is in cover before they finalize movement, that prevents any bad feelings later when you try to bring out the laser pointer and say they aren't.

It's called playing by intent. It lets you agree on the game state quickly and immediately instead of letting things linger and then getting several steps down the line and getting into a pointless fight about it when you could have said "No, I don't think he's in cover there you need to move him half an inch left" and the other guy goes "ah, nice mate".

You are literally supposed to agree, and the other player has made his intent clear so it doesn't have to be relitigated later. It makes the entire game flow better and smoother. You were just playing a better person than you.

I don't know how to play around the fact my dice are just never lucky man. I keep paying for defensive stats like Mortarion only to have him die trivially to weapons that shouldn't even be particularly good into him. Every single time my opponent shoots a hunter killer missile it doesn't matter if I'm 4+ invuln 5+ FNP I just know that I'm going to eat 6 damage from one random missile and it happens every time.
But then I will play my friends and their 5+ FNP will easily void half my damage every single time.
I just don't get it man. Anything that isn't at least a 3+ with re-rolls I can just be confident it's going to fucking fail miserably every single time.

Revised the Librarian Conclave Deathwatch list I posted a thread or two ago. Was it worth trading the deredeo dreadnaught for 4 melta bikes and a librarian on bike? Probably not, but it’s nice to see all the librarian variants in one list.

It very much is. There are ways to deal it with the usual lethal + sustained + crit 5s bomb most armies seem to have somewhere but that's more of an indictment on how stupid the datasheet is that the only way to deal with it is to use the same "this kills god" combo that is one of the biggest issues with the current edition.

BL schlock in a nutshell.
>>
>>96920359
That felt like a far reach. I mean the Adepta Sororitas didn't even come into existence until well over five thousand years after Nostramo was destroyed. Schematics have been copied, lost, rediscovered, misinterpreted, wrongfully conflated with parallel developments, forgotten, revived by third parties, etc. over ten thousand years. But ten thousand years later the specific provenance of one technological development is apparently still identifiable beyond reasonable doubt as being owed to a single planet that doesn't even exist and which has had its records largely scoured from public knowledge.

It just seems like the writer wanted to put up a mirror to the Imperium but didn't have any clever ideas for it.

>>
>>96920359
>>96920403
To be fair, just because the sisters of battle didn't exist it doesn't mean that the ecclesiarchy couldn't use penitent engines during the 5000-6000 years before sororitas got made. Like they 100% could have,
Ecclesiarchy did have the Frateris Templars under their command and as a whole the ecclesiarchy was just as fanatical and weird back then as the sororitas are now.
Technically they were even more extreme back then, since after Age of Apostasy the type of Emperor worship that took over the ecclesiarchy and the imperial cult is much more tame in comparison supposedly.

its easily googleable, google mortuary archaeology, sex determination, archaeological forensics etc

you can find plenty of studies on it. A particularly famous case is the Suontaka burial in Finland. It has been argued that its a transwoman viking (man), a woman, a man buried with a woman and the womans bones are missing, a man buried with his wife's belongings. It's still up for debate because it just isn't that easy.

https://www.cambridge.org/core/journals/european-journal-of-archaeology/article/woman-with-a-sword-weapon-grave-at-suontaka-vesitorninmaki-finland/33A89DB1D7E4900F017833D87C997D3D

Another example is the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinchorro_mummies Chinchorro Mummies in Peru. Despite the overall very good conditions of the partial skeletons of the remains, about 1/3 of the remains discovered remain unsexed. Part of the difficulty is the inability to recover DNA that is viable for examination (partial DNA isn't useful for sexing), which is one of our main tools. The skeleton is very difficult to sex in many situations and across many ethnicities (some ethnicities have more or less sex dimorphism)

you didnt take those /pol/ memes about trannoid skeletons seriously did you?

>woman buried with the sword of his husband
>terminally online and hormonally ravaged loonies
>clearly it was a tranny
It reminds of the glove making tool they found and the fuckers could never figure out what it was. Because this fucker have never spend time with their grandmothers.
Or the times when people see two men having a moment and immediately think they are gay because this friendless fucks have never had an real friend in their entire life.

>>96920895
I agree with you that people are quick to jump to conclusions but the sword was left there much later and also the dna of the skeleton is xxy (klinefelter syndrome).

you should read the actual study, it is pretty interesting but Ill spoonfeed you because I know its a bit long for people with short attention spans:

>Existing methods for chromosomal sex determination lack power for data as sparse as this, but their results suggested that the Suontaka individual's X-chromosomal and Y-chromosomal read counts fit neither those expected for XX (female) nor for XY (male) individuals. We therefore developed a novel approach to estimate the chromosomal sex of the individual, where we downsampled sequencing reads from individuals of known genetic sex to the number of reads observed in the Suontaka individual (n = 8329) to model four possible scenarios that could have produced the observed data: XX, XY, a contaminated sample with a mix of reads from XX and XY individuals, and an aneuploidic karyotype XXY (male with Klinefelter syndrome). The details and assumptions of the model are described in the Supplementary Material 2.

>Despite the extremely low sequencing coverage, we found overwhelming evidence that the genetic data of the Suontaka individual most closely resemble an XXY karyotype: our model classified the Suontaka individual as XXY at a 99.75 per cent probability, as contaminated with a 0.25 per cent probability, and as XX or XY with a very low probability (less than 10-6 in either case).

>Even when we take into account the low population frequency of the XXY karyotype, the XX and XY scenarios remain extremely unlikely, and—unless we assume a considerably high prior probability of contamination—the Suontaka individual's karyotype is still most likely to be XXY.

These remains went 50 years without being sexed until we tested for a sex based disorder using a novel approach of contrasting specific sequences related to sex. Its a great case study for how complex this field can be (mortuary archaeology/ archeogenetics).

>and here we see the chimpanzee in his natural state, when confronted with an uncomfortable reality he simply rejects it. The only response can be a fight or flight reaction. Unlike enlightened European man, he is unable to shape his worldview around fact, and instead shapes it around what he "knows". This separation between fact and what he "knows" is the very essence of what separates animal from man despite our hereditary closeness.

That's why you take him with Virulent Vectorium, get him in melee with something big and tough (T13>) then use Leechspore Eruption once his wounds get low enough. If he dies just pop Putrid Detonation and he's doing D6 MWs

Fucking love the redesign. Annoyed I bought a Stealth Battlesuit kit right before they were announced but oh well. You win this game GW but now I have a resin printer.
