>>96979342>mobile sloppa yuck
>>96979342>>96979329I think GW has forgotten that an edition really does not reach a good point until like a year or so post launch. Because you gotta have like 6 months for it to cook and find out whats wrong, another 6 months post FAQ to see if that fixed it, then about another 6 months after that to actually get a stable running edition, at which point your fucking half way through its 3 year life cycle so like....ok coolI dont wanna spend 200 bucks every 3 years, have to play roulette to see if my army is good or not, let alone if its even viable, and then have to wonder what in my army is going to randomly be invalidated, and then learn a new rule set, AGIAN. Like fuck that. >>96979342First for the First>TQThey are ight i guess.
>>96979360>>969789782.0 was a shit game but it still sold models/armies which is what is so confusing. I think >>96979283is probably closest to the truth though, at least in 2.0 people were still sold on the system one day producing fruit but have now decided it never will. I'm in a similar camp hence the selling, I never played much because of the various issues over the years from expense, the rules format, bad rules etc but kept up interest in the setting hoping it'd work out one day and with this last iteration it is clear it never will. I really thought the TOW team could pull it off again with HH but GW just cannot see marines and not jew it up.
What are you guys working on?
It's supposed to be baby Fulgrim with his foster mom that none of you can recall the name of off the top of your head.
>>96979376anon 2.0 was a fine game, it sold models because weather you like it or not, it was a decent system. The porblem it had was it was VERY easy to abuse things. But you could very easily fix those abuses with a few house rules, our group fixed most of it with>1 dread per 1k>a unit can only react once per turnAll that left was brutal, and reaction spamming which it did not take a rocket scientist to figure out how to curb and not be that fucking guy. But the whole 2.0 being good or bad aside, the reason you quoted from >>96979283That was also me. To add to it, the major reason that 2.0 did so well was that 2.0 got a massive amount of players that enjoyed the old version of 40k ,the 3rd-7th rule set as 2.0, so it became sort of a refuge for people who were just fed the fuck up of modern 40k.But once GW started pulling the same shit with HH with the 3 year cycle and the legacy units people who went through that shit in 40k dont wanna do it again, so a lot of people just jumped off the band wagon now.
>>96979397I'm split between buying a Caestus Assault Ram or a Storm Eagle. They basically do the same thing, but assault ram is AV14 front and 290 points and is Heavy Transport so warlord detach gives it, while Storm Eagle needs a fast attack slot but it's only 200 points and it's just 12-12-12.
>>96979416>Fulgrim raised by what is very obviously a middle aged dyke Yeah this explains a whole fucking lot.
>>96979416Weren't the primarchs spit out of the pods as like preteens?
>>96979439what years are we counting as pre teens? 10-12?Because i think they were spit out a bit younger like 6 or 8, but the thing is remember primarchs age really weirdly. They seem to age quickly then slow at peak age.
>>96979439It varied. In Angel Exterminatus Fulgrim is discovered as a baby. Although there's a mystic lightshow that could be read as Fulgrim assuming the form of a baby upon being found. But the same book has Ferrus climb out of his pod fully formed and aware of himself.
>>96979360I mean you basically answered there why 2.0 needed to be axed. The game was completely lopsided where the majority of armies were useless or completely overpowered. Only a few got to sit in the sweet spot between the two where you don’t feel like a cunt. 3.0’s at a good place where we’re in a better place than 2.0 ever got to <6 months after launch. The only army that needs fixing is talons and nothings quite as assrapey as lascannon hss or dreadnoughts
>>96979417>it sold models because weather you like it or not, it was a decent systemIt sold models because 40k supported some of those models and they were fine proxies. The game itself was dogshit and pretending otherwise will get you creampied
>>96979427I chose the Caestus because I find it cool. Same reason I got a Dreadclaw and a Kharybdis, except the latter was not well printed and I gotta wait for my friend to get back into it.I intend to put in the Caestus a squad of veteran Breachers with Power Axes and a Librarian to buff them and maybe a Legion Champion to shred everything the squad touches once the squad land.
Does the anon who made these frequent the thread?
I just can't get over how thunder hammers are weaker and faster than power fists, opposite to every other Warhammer edition in existence... but saturnine hammers are stronger and slower than saturnine fists
>>96979534Wasn't there a math anon that had calculated that power fist were basically useless anyway, since you now need actual antitank to go tickle vehicles?
>>96979507>3.0’s at a good place where we’re in a better place than 2.0 ever got to <6 months after launch.anon 3.0 has lower participation then 2.0. I dont think we are in a better spot here lol. >>96979511>It sold models because 40k supported some of those models and they were fine proxies.?????Fuck models are you talking about?

>>96979566>Fuck models are you talking about?Anon. I'm 50% of the HH scene in my town. At least 8 people who played 40k bought the 2.0 box just for spartans, contemptors, and/or le epic nostalgia beakies.

>>96979397Painting up the faithful lads
>>96979566i think a big part of why 2.0 was such a big deal was the novelty and plastic in stores. now the LGS doesn't have the "we can't sell it so fuck off" rule. being stuck in the "new edition every 3 years" sucks so much fucking balls.why bother with a codex when different rules will be there in 8 month ? horus heresy has it good for now because we have actual rules at launch. some 40k armies get to suck it with one way of playing for 2 years with little change to the faction
>>96979397Primed a bunch of Necromunda stuff and a few centurions. Painting some Predator sponsons tonight. Hopefully getting some infantry done over the weekend. Been ill which has been cutting into my functional hobby time a lot, so I'm well behind schedule now.
>>96979689you should put the cataphractii on a couch next time
Something very strange happened today. I was sitting in the living room, despruing some parts for my White Scars project, when I was struck with an overpowering sense of dread and pointlessness. It was unlike anything I've ever felt before, not even the death of my father or my wife's suicide attempt came close to the absolute depths I was plunged into. Just a few seconds later, I was back to relative normal but quite shaken from the experience. Anyone else felt like this?
>tqAss. Lucky I don't play mechanicus.

>>96979342Something happened in the sweltering hot summer of 94 to Caliban
>>96979714the human body is very complex; there's cases of people getting an overwhelming sense of doom, induced by poisonous jellyfish: Irukandji.oh and the brain also secrete serotonin like crazy when it dies; so if you see your loved one welcoming you into paradise; you're in for it
>>96979560They are locally suboptimal for Space Marine arm wrestling, since they only give you +1 to wound over hammers against Saturnine or tougher, but they're pretty great for Mechanicum Magi and similar. Magi are slow enough that they rarely go first anyway and they're stronger and tougher than Marines, so there's very little harm in taking a fist and stacking it with your innate strength to punch holes in dreads or large vehicles while still being basically as proficient in a Challenge.
>>96979714The day without at least one moment of existential dread is probably the day I've stopped being alive.
>>96979797You should increase your material possesion. That usually helps.
>>96979700>horus heresy has it good for now because we have actual rules at launch. Its kinda good and bad because yeah we get all our rules at once. But that means it takes a while for everything to get worked out because we have a lot of issues that gotta be fixed all at once. And then once it is fucking fixed, we get a new set of bullshit with 3 year cycle. DESU i think the 3year cycle is the biggest fucking blight on the hobby at the moment.

IT'S A LIGMA SWEEPhttps://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/bgnffhic/armies-on-parade-2025-discover-the-winners/
>>96979949Well of course, nobody actually plays ligma so all those who have the models can do with them it paint them.
>>96979507>The game was completely lopsided where the majority of armies were useless or completely overpowered.I genuinely don't understand how people can come to this conclusion. Only if someone is the sweatiest, stankiest, cheesbeardiest tourneyshitter ever to be born who exclusively plays with similar subhumans, endlessly striving to make the most broken, retarded lists and finding the tiniest, most ridiculous RAW/RAI outliers, could someone think the balance in 2.0 was *that* bad. ESPECIALLY given the point of comparison when it was out was 1.0, which absolutely did have factions that were essentially autowins unless you purposefull gimped yourself. Some of the non-Marine armies in 2.0 were a bit underwhelming, sure, but it was nowhere close to the experience of trying to play infantry Marines against pieplatespam SAux in 1.0 or having to face down Custodes with any other army. Seriously you're either the most heinous stankmonster every to play or you don't play at all and purely perceive the game through the lens of online meme hyperbole, because those are literally the only two possible ways someone could actually think lascannon HSS or dreads being *a little* overtuned was some game-ruining fucktastrophe. Anything less than that I don't need to think about – I kill them without a thought.>>96979871>Only if you look at nothing but terminators vs terminators and AV 14 vehicles, completely disregarding all other units that exist.Because everything kills MEQ, and GEQ are confined to lesser, non-marine factions. Terminators should indeed regard only of Veteran Equivalents and above. Problem is, now that many VEQ get access to hammers, and Saturnines have arrived, "VEQ and above" is a lot of things. But I'd say, all the more so, that you better strike those Saturnines at i2 with a paradoxically weak hammer instead of risking never striking at all with an i1 fist. Also never bother with chainfists. They are indeed better than other melee weapons at killing tanks...at the expense of being bad at everything else a Terminator should be doing. Which is everything else.
>>96979792You know, I'm totally fine with one weapon being i-2 S7 and the other being i-3 S8....if I simply pretend power fists are thunder hammers and thunder hammers are power fists lmao.Remember how some people wished to fix Power fists never being used over Thunder Hammers, by giving PFs more speed or an extra attack or something? This is it. This is pretty much it. Just with swapped names. Exactly how some also wish power mauls were the anti armour power weapon instead of axes, all over again.

>>96981007A bunch of autistic WAACfag Mechanicum players mysteriously came out of the woodwork when 3.0 dropped. Mechanicum needs a nerf to fix 3.0; non-Astartes factions should not be winning many games. This is a game about Astartes. That's the narrative. Competitive players ruined 40k with their "muh balance" and now they're ruining HH.
>>96981082I'd prefer that spear being a dagger given that angleAt least then he's bringing it in for a kill rather than...waving the spear
>>96981209Then just stop playing with points. Let the marine players throw whatever they want on the table.
>>96981276Points need to exist as a shaping mechanism. They should shape the narrative to what the books portray, not some soulless WAACfag competitive bullshit. Making it arbitrary also means that there's debate over what the right amount of points is, and non-Astartes players will insist that they should be able to do their WAACfag bullshit because "muh balance" unless they're explicitly told no with point values that enforce the narrative.
Did GW signal anything on when Liber Imperium might arrive? I'd really like to have a more robust set of rules for SoS.
>>96979397Love the ram bro, its a pure Chad vibe choice and legitimately good in 3.0I am working on my Ohmu dark mech transports atm. Should be able to do decals and oils this weekend hopefully.

>>96979397Crazy that GW still hasn't make a plastic model for the caestus assault ram, it's possible the most space marine flyer of all the space marine flyers>Yes this is our boarding craft>How it works?>It melts the hull of enemy space ships with a big ass melta>Then it rams into the hot spot at full speed
>>96979439Going by Index Astartes (I know!), some were raised more or less as babes from their landing sites, others were found roaming, the surrounding area as young children, all the way up to young teens. There are exceptions of course, like Konnrad Kurze and Angron, but the majority found willing parents to take them in and shape help shape them into the world conquering super soldiers we all know and love!
>>96981682...I mean, MOST Boarding Craft in 40k work that way. The only really unique thing about the Cestus is that it's not the size of Boeing 747 like the Shark Assault Boat the Navy uses.Probably because at the end of the day, lots of small squads of Space Marines in multiple locations is way harder to deal with than a load of them all in one location.
I've got it in my head to paint up some LIMP Solar Aux in C&C GDI colors but I can't decide on what era of puke yellow and black I should go with so I figured I'd ask you guys for some input.Could also go with C&C3's beige tan and orange but that seems like it wouldn't pop as much and just kind of look like a regular paint scheme.
>>96981209Just bring a bunch of AV14 vehicles, and a Deredeo to kill Vultaraxii, their main answer to it.Not sure what kills Thanatars, but it probably can't do anything against good old TH termies against it. Might even be the one target power fists are actually good for.
Im old and ive been out of the game for a minute - is it just impossible to find troves of warhammer pdfs now? None of the generals seem to have proper megas or anything, and certain books (siege of vraks second edition/volume 3) seem impossible to find. the sharethread seems utterly bare of warhammer stuff. I bring this up here because i was specifically looking for some Titanicus stuff (Annas files for titanicus specifically seem mostly broken for some reason)Not begging for a handout here, do i need to look harder, am i missing something or is the age of troves and megas dead? Anna only has some of what i need. cheers
>>96981751part of what makes it unique is Land was able to fit anti grav plates to it like the eponymous speeders, so that it wasnt purely a void craft. it also has a unqiue system for docking marine armour to itself to better handle impacts, presumably allowing for it to make more rapid and thus harder to intercept approaches to void ships
>>96982147DMCA/Copyright strikes occur more frequently. Our local Titanicuschads post their troves every other thread. While hardly comprehensive, the-eye has a lot of IA and HH Black Books, and /grog/ and /midhammer/ have a decent spread of older material.

>>96981371You're an uninformed idiot. Points exist solely to balance 1v1 unrefereed play. Points were an optional subsystem in the original 1987 game because the referee was expected to curate a fair experience, and indeed, many times in a narrative one side is outgunned but has a simpler objective. Structured army lists with concrete points values were added in short order as a main system to, say it with me, sell more models. Explicitly, go read some interciews. What the books portray is irrelevant and by no stretch of the imagination are points designed or intended to align your games with the drivel you've read.

>>96982252My lord what are all those shavings from? Drilling neck holes?
>>96979560powerfists are 100% pointless as anti-tank, that is objectively correct. Soft vehicles instantly die to thunderhammers, and if you want them to also be spooky to AV14 all you need to do is have one single guy with a chainfist with the thunderhammers and they're as scary to tanks as a full powerfist squad except 10x more likely to win vs infantry than a powerfist squad. The removal of deepstrike charges and screens blocking your rhino from ever being able to transport melee to enemy tanks (moving happens before shooting so you have to come to a stop to even a 45 point tarantula battery and never get in melee with the tank) means that you can't melee a tank without deep investment like a 200 point storm eagle and waiting for turn 2 to swing into the tank from the side. The problem is if you're investing 600+ points into an airborne tankhunter drop, powerfists would have like 10% chance of getting the job done to a Kratos and you don't need to spend 600 points to kill a 125 point predator - so said squad should always be a squad of chainfists with like 90% chance of shredding said kratos. If the enemy can insta-kill 6 chainfist termies they'd insta-kill 6 pfist termies just as easily in the middle of their army, it's just the pfist ones will also have failed to kill the tank to earn 360+ points back.If the enemy fields soft vindicators and predators, your powerfists are never meleeing them in the first place and thunderhammers already insta-kill them if the enemy Does allow you to melee them - plus for cheaper than powerfists+transport you can just fire rapier lasers into said vindicator and insta-kill it with your rapiers a safe 30" away. It's pretty easy to understand for people who aren't retarded. There's no meta of AV12 vehicles charging forwards point-blank that aren't empty 60 point rhinos who already shitted out marines. If it was meta for flamethrower predators to fight 10" from the front-lines, pfists might be a thing. They're not

>>96983774Harrowing/10I still think you could use some Rapiers or similar but removing anything here would break the beautiful beautiful symmetry.I would perhaps ditch one Exodus and get 165pts of the best AT you can find. It's going to be a boring ass game of "I kill your sergeant, vox, and character, you need to roll under a 7 to not be useless" against every unit you have. >>9698445810th edition has a shitload of re-rolls that slow it down. If there's no baked-in re-roll, then there's a generic stratagem for doing it at any time anyway. The armies and units are arguably also more often defined by special abilities than not.
>>96984498The only weapons that should be used in duels are either dual axes or one very large ax. Shields are not what marines should use, as they take up the arm, that could be holding an ax.
>>96984425Is that really the thing you are getting caught up on with this Tank design. The Turret is too small for how big the gun breech would have to be full stop. Not even thinking about gun elevation. But that doesn't matter. It's not a scale model of a tank. It's a model for a tabletop wargame set in a fictional setting.

>>96984430I suppose it makes sense to evaluate every unit in terms of how good it is in an elite-terminator deathstar melee situation if you consider literally any tactic other than immediately facechecking your opponent's giant doom units funamentally unacceptable. Might explain the total memetic dominance of the thunder hammer command squad cataphractii. I like a good terminator fistfight, but this is a whole new level of being mad at the concept of tactics. No 30k army has the kind of gotchas that your average 40k army does, everything Alpha Legion/Raven Guard/any of the other sneaky boys does is very obvious from reading the rite of war and a brief check to see who has Infiltrate. I don't even think anything lays mines or has jump-shoot-jump anymore, although I could be wrong.
>>96983672I mean in 3.0 they have completely seperate playstyles lmao. Nl are a melee fast attack army while if are the gunline army. Tbf though I haven’t touched my nl this edition because I’m trying to build up my wb and militia

>>96983633uh bro? your line (x)?also MoS only unlocks 1 detachment not 2 so ILLEGAL LIST ALERT
>>96983794>>96983774RAW a unit which has Infiltrate must be either within your Deployment Zone or outside of it - they cannot be straddling the two areas - it is an "either/or" proposition. So you may find yourself unable to cap your own DZ Objectives if you want to deploy all units using Infiltrate. Lacking Line (X) on any unit will make this a fatal game-throwing error, a literal cakewalk for any reasonably competent opponent with Line units. A singe Master of Signals will not change that in any meaningful way - he only confers Line (1) at best.Infiltrate does not confer onto Transports so your Recon Raiders will have to be in your DZ - I mention this because they are relatively large models that will impede the placement of other units nearby. This is partly offset by Outflank but those units will then be out of action while still in Reserves, and may have to come on from non-optimal angles dependent upon terrain and canny unit placement - you don't have to conga-line down a board edge to deny access to the main fight when each model's blocking bubble is 7". You're also only 1/81 to never get any use from units in Reserve during a 4-turn game - the same as getting 2 MEQ kills with bolters in a single round. Outflank on relatively weak and pricey units like Effrit in heavy transports is likely a waste, especially if they end up having to come out far beyond the range of their weapons or special ability. 5-man units even with 2W will test on 2 casualties in a single turn or on 1 casualty every time after the first. Squishy five-mans are disposable, not a substitute for dedicated assault units. The hard counter to an Exodus is a Vindicare - they can kill Exodus from outside his own range, but even within his own range will kill him outright in one hit 1/5 of the time. They also cost less than Exodus. To be perfectly honest with you, a Vindicare can deploy 9" behind Exodus and stab him to death pretty reliably turn one, then cuck his sniper's nest position.
>>96985352>>96983794>>96983774Sabres are not a replacement for real armour. Short of using all four missiles in a single round on a single target you're unlikely to get them all off let alone at full BS. Saboteurs have very short range shooting and few benefits other than going after enemy armour and might replace some but will not replace all of the anti-tank you'll lack when the Sabres are exploding left right and centre turn one. Sabre missiles are notably weaker than HK missiles and lack Armourbane - they are useless against AV14. Seekers do absolutely nothing against the majority of Vehicles. A Knight or Super-heavy (which you will commonly encounter at 3k) will absolutely fuck this list to death - all you have that could counter those is melta bombs (lolololol) and maybe the lascannons on the LR or the conversion beamers on the Lerneans. Even 3x neutron sabres (or a mix of the above) is not going to help you if, god willing, someone shows up with a Warhound at 3k, it will just stomp around utterly unfazed taking you out with big flamers and stampy tantrums at squad at a time. Two LR won't do shit to a titan, neither will a couple of conversion beamers, but even most Knights will just kick your guys around like footballs. You are going to learn to hate Armigers with either list, mecha-undead too. Augur C2 will offset some of the cost of the extra maneuvering you'll need to do with infantry-heavy, short-ranged units for the bulk of your army. The idea that you'll show up and mob the other guy is a fantasy. You won't get within 9" of his DZ anywhere that's useful, unless he too has gone all-in on a meme list and is about to airstrike your guys into oblivion. But even C2 won't offset the weakness of your army to basic bolter fire. A full Tactical or Despoiler blob is going to wipe a 5-man Effrit or an Exodus (so be careful not to move them once they're Infiltrated).Either list is easy to maneuver around and vulnerable to templates/melee. You gon die son.
>>96984458that look like end of 8th edition to me, the 2.0 space marine codex with ultramarine suplement and the upgrades from end of edition booksthat's perhaps the only time in 40k history where the space marine codex was better than the eldar one
>>96985291Lernaean terminators have Line. They're probably the best line unit in the game, most vanguard units will be send running by them instead of the other way around.
>>96984634>chaplains >sparingly The maximum rerolls you should get is a master crafted reroll one hit roll

>>96984064Both.
>>96984384>>96984298Its not WAAC, its too skewed and "all in" on small arms fire (and has no durability or line to score with). It is however not super fun to deal with for many lists. Seekers are very strong in the realm of "small arms firepower" and mass infiltrate is also potentially really disruptive.
>>96984616This is correct, but the occasional reroll that's earned as a reward for something is fine.
seen anons suggest taking a kratos with just the melta blast gun, and everything else on it is anti-infantryreason why? is the melta just that good that you dont need the extra anti tank firepower?
Seekers arent even THAT bad. Yea, they hurt like motherfuckers but theyre also made of paper and bad vs high toughness. Just bring some predators.
>>96985522>reason why? is the melta just that good that you dont need the extra anti tank firepower?Thats what the anon suggested yea. Personally I dont agree with it, I think you always take lascannon sponsoons, but you can swap the front lascannons for autocannons for better anti-infantry shooting.Although I think all-las is still the best, just because you really want "one volley one kill" and the melta blast gun isnt always enough vs some targets (where you want to take 2~ HP to finish something off, or vs dreads or whatever that you dont melta). And vs lighter targets (rhinos, predators) the lascannons can sometimes get the job done on their own if the melta fucks it.
>>96985540yeah, its just i have a 350ish point hole in my list and 2 armour slots, and I KNOW I need the anti-tankkratos, melta predators, sicaran venators, las destroyer vindicators can all fit there
I'm retarded. Can I put units with Deep Strike on the table during the normal setup or do they have to come in from reserves?
>>96985557and allies is also an option
>>96985522The kratos has Stable so it can split fire without anything becoming snap shots. Meaning whilst the main gun one-shots the enemy's kratos the infantry killing weapons on the sides can eradicate tactical squads at the same time.
>>96985522The melta does damage in huge 8HP chunks to vehicles, so a potential extra 2-4 from lascannon doesn't actually help much against most plausible targets if you don't have lots of other AT ready to support the Kratos. It can also fit just a metric ton of volkite with Stable and that's just handy, it makes it rather more consistent against non-Vehicle lists.
>>96985352>a Vindicare can deploy 9" behind Exodus and stab him to death pretty reliably turn oneCant charge if you infiltrate. Exodus and Vindicare maximum ranges are also essentially theoretical. On a proper board you really shouldnt be getting those insane firing lines that either of them needs to fire at max effectiveness (and neither of them wants to move since theyre both essentially useless without heavy)
>>96985560You can deploy them normally yes, they're not forced to start the game in reserves. Except for drop pods and flyers.
>>96985557I think double las vindicator might be the "Best" option? Very solid raw damage, but they can also split fire so you arent sitting there with your dick in your hands if they have a bunch of sicarans and rhinoes instead of a spartan. >>96985567Stable doesent do that. Youre thinking of superheavies.
>>96985570>The melta does damage in huge 8HP chunks to vehiclesIF youre in melta range (which sometimes you wont be).4HP isnt enough to kill vehicles, and 8HP isnt enough to kill a spartan (or enemy kratos). The ability to plink those 1/2 HP off on your own is pretty big imo. Saves you overkilling it elsewhere (or having it survive and act essentially at full effectiveness)
>>96985571Getting LOS has indeed been the main problem when fielding my exodus, the damage he does if he can shoot has been much more consistent than anticipated.
>>96985584It literally does.
>>96985609Wait what. I could have been splitting fire?
>>96985584what about maybe some las destroyer rapiers as SA allies?weaker, but can definitely get more
>>96985501Unfortunately you have to kill them dead in full and keep them in the dirt otherwise they'll just creep back to being as bad or worse than they were before
>>96985571>>96985352I'm still not sure what the use case is for Exodus or a Vindicare over a regular Vigilator, who hit almost as hard and can get Paragon for far more consistent crits while costing a lot less. Death Guard vigilators can even shuffle and shoot.
>>96985633Laser rapiers are nice, but theyre very fragile (especially the marine ones). So if its your only AT Its probably too easy for the enemy to deal with. A vindicator (or kratos) doesent need to worry incoming fire quire the same way.
>>96985647yeah, my list already has SOME (6 pairs or lascannons on 3 land raiders) but ideally dont want them having to pull double duty with anti-elite too
>>96985615Yes. This is the main reason I think a mixed loadout kratos is way better
>>96985169yes.
>>96985571what do you mean, on most boards you have 2-3 bunkers in the deployment zone and some trenchers to link them up and the no mans land is more or less flat kill zone with razor wire, barricades and tank traps.
>>96985592I find they're almost always in melta range, they have a decent amount of freedom to move and the melta range is gigantic for that kind of weapon. I think you want the lascannon if it's your sole AT and you really need it to be reliable or the Volkite if you have other sources of medium AT to finish targets if necessary.

So are Salamanders lava people as described in the video? With no other concrete defining features that would resemble any one particular group of people? If so how come they are always given African accents in audio books. Why am I so confused by this? Or does none of it fucking matter and just make your dudes? https://youtu.be/tgeJS_4xpLQ?si=KJBBQd6kx9N7qNBo
>>96985806Howdy!
>>96986019Salamanders are pitch black because of the radiation on Nocturne, but Nocturne's culture is tribal nomads so they're the African coded guys
>>96986096You sure? I’m getting answers all over the place. Plus with how they are depicted we have white looking salamanders, black, and Asian. All lava coded is what it seems to me.
>>96986148Nocturne is a big planet, you get lots of phenotypes on a planet, the geneseed isn't going to change facial features but it will change skin color especially when space marines have an organ that does that.
>>96986019Nocturne natives are within normal range of Human skintonesThe Salamander's skin color occurred even among Terrans because the organ that protects from radiation doesn't break down the melanin it produces like other legions' do
Fellow ATChads,I'm currently in the middle of trim hell. Please send me pictures of your titans so I may find the strength of the machine to power through.
>>96986378
>>96986378What Legio?
>>96986429VenatorNo, I'm not hand painting the spider webs, I reached to fellow AT GOD Scumbag and got some of his custom spider web decals.
>>96986421Does that reaver has a fucking turbo laser mandiblasters?????MY MACHINE SPIRIT IS RISING
>>96986421>>96986429My machine spirit is rising (but two warlords at once was a bad choice...)I need more. MOAR.
>>96986486Here's an old picture of laserbeak.Doesn't venator have black trim? What's troubling you?
>>96986538> Black trimThat's what I thought as well. But then I really looked at the pictures of legio venator and noticed that the trim (and the titans color scheme in general) isn't actually dark, it's just that they put this weird shadow effect over the entire Warlord titan in the photo. If you look at the shoulder pieces, you see that where the light hits the Titan's titan, it's actually just silver metal. I'm going to dull down the silver a bit with an oil wash but... Yeah. It's not actually black.Still time consuming because I air brushed the panels first so now I got to paint silver trim fucking everywhere
>>96986538That's a fucking tech heresy
>>96986633Suffering builds character!>>96986639You should see what they did to the MIU

>>96985637He used to be literally a Vigilator Plus. Now I'm not sure what he's for, especially since my main use last time was to deploy directly in melee via a loophole that is (correctly) closed now. Now he doesn't have that, Infiltration itself got restricted to outside enemy DZ, and the Vigilator is too buffed up. Champions are WS6, Vigilators should be BS6 not BS7.I think Exodus can no longer join anyone? But at least he doesn't give out Slay the Warlord, since he's not a Commander this time. Right?
>>96986906>I think Exodus can no longer join anyone? But at least he doesn't give out Slay the Warlord, since he's not a Commander this time. Right? These question could be answered by reading the book
>>96986842Heralds should grant the detachment unlocked by Champions, and Champions should have the VP rule of Heralds u.u
>>96986740Ah, a fellow stolen morlock enthusiast. Honestly I'm not entirely sure when I'm actually going to get to use these, since I don't have Alphy yet and they mostly excel as a cheap and omnicapable escort squad, but I suppose I could throw in an extra squad of Inductii and give the Morlocks a workout in place of my Lernaeans a few times. I mostly just wanted cool cyborgs with scale patterns.
>>96986956Ew
>>96986906Even Commanders don't give up Slay The Warlord, it has to be a High Command choice. I'm not a huge fan of this, I still think you should have to nominate a Warlord rather than being able to deny the objective entirely if you don't take a Praetor/Delegatus/Archmagos/Marshal.
>>96986956Aight. Exodus can't join units, and only High Command units give out Slay the Warlord, so Vigilators don't give it......so what does this mean for the uses of Exodus? Not even spammability, as it is FAR easier to spam infinite HQ (allies) than Elites (only Apex and Prime Logisticals)
>>96987046He's got Shrouded and a slightly better rifle, but his armour save is worse and he can't score worth a damn, whereas a regular Vigilator at least scores at neutral. Honestly he's a fine unique Vigilator sidegrade except for the fact that he costs nearly 75% more for some reason and takes a worse slot, I really don't know why he costs as much as he does.
>>96986968Anyone who ads that queer ass 'u.u' shit to a post NEEDS to get the fuck out
>>96987046It means you opponent has to waste all of a units attacks removing 1 (one) Exodus
>>96986990You're giving up a reaction and access to apex detachments by omitting them, it's a fair tradeoff
>>96986990>I still think you should have to nominate a Warlord rather than being able to deny the objective entirely if you don't take a Praetor/Delegatus/Archmagos/Marshal.Im trying to make a list without any High Command or Delegatus. Lacking Apex detachments is punishment enough, anon, trust me. Besides the objectives on the map are the bigger source of VP.Although, if Slay the Warlord gave a little VP for killing HQ, and a lot of VP for killing High Command, that would be a healthy midpoint. I'd play that with you
>>969870842003's emojis will never die, young man xDD
>>96987099Isn't that also true of a Vigilator on his own? And he's got an actual 2+ save.I guess Exodus can run full 14" and still shoot 3 shots, doing snapshots on...4+ I think. But at D1, I'm not eager to spend 165 pts to threaten tacticals
>>96984458This was the end of 8th edition.
>>96987145Vigilator gets Precision on a 4 and crits on a 5, then breaches on a 5. If he stays still he can theoretically one shot a centurion, but he's probably better off hunting sergeants, voxes and apothecaries
>>96987145Exodus has shrouded and smokescreen>>96987560Exodus both precisions and crits on 4+ with built AP2 on the execution shot
>>96987145Exodus snap shots hit on a 3+ actually. Still with precision, so exodus running at full pace can still potentially snipe the sergeant, nuncio vox, and vexilla in one go with rapid shot.
>>96987560Crit autowounds and thus autobreaches, and if you give him Paragon of Battle then he crits on every precision hit and the actual stats of the rifle beyond damage value, status and Breaching become irrelevant. The Prime spend is admittedly something Exodus doesn't need and AL often does for Rewards of Treason, but it's a significant upgrade. There's also the option of the Vindicare for loyalists, who is AP2 D2 Precision on every hit and has the ability to spike up to D4 with Shred Crits or do D3 through Eternal Warrior, but only crits on 5+. Still costs less than Exodus, too.

>>96987792Rekt
>>96987792>the challenge in question
>>96987877Why is this not an actual gambit?
>>96987938Embrace the Myrmidon's Path, brother. WS/BS6 Myrmidon Lords are hilarious with this, they just pump critting plasma or darkfire shots into the enemy centurion until he falls over trying to breach their 5++ 5+++ 4W. Not a reliable praetor takedown but definitely a possibility.
>>96987938It is the SA gambit, and it sucks.
>>96987792Could anything be more embarrassing? >Be super human >Get clowned by an autopistol & swordMaybe space marines aren't as tough as people say. and it should be like that desu
>>96988007Legate Marshals in 1st and 2nd were pretty tough and could hold their own in a duel if you put points into them. GW nerfed the shit out of them and they are pretty useless now. Very embarrassing to lose to one.
>>96987738Oh damn, I forgot that the crit counts as a 6 to wound
>>96987792Genuinely how.
>>96988314>>96987845>>96988007I won the focus roll and decided to take furry of blows. I attacked 8 times, did only 3 hits, 2 wounds, all saved by the legate invulnérable save. The legate used the finishing blow gambit, rolled two sixes to hit so his parangon blade went to dmg 3, i saved my invulnerables and so the champion got fucking killed twice over in a single round.
>>96988491I failed my invulnerables*
>>96988491You roll for focus AFTER you pick gambits btw. But also: lmao. Absolute poof of a paragon of battle(?) champion.

>>96987938Pertruabo, the SA and Admech all have it.
Tactical Squads should have an option for 1 in 5 to take special weapons, change my mind.It always made more sense to me if the Demi-Company was 2 tactical squads and 1 heavy support squad anyway.
>>96988627Shut up, Gulliman
>>96988491>Let that be lessn for you
>>96988645Nah, Guilliman wants them to only have 1 special and 1 heavy per 10, never 2 specials. He's retarded
>>96983633I love how all responses to this list are either seething about 'muh OP Seekers' or claiming it's shit and anon will be tabled.Truly the duality of /hhg/
>>96988694Because its an incredibly skewed list that will either face something it is designed to beat (and probably trounce it) or not do that and get curbstomped.
>>96986968Heralds should keep their VP rule but it should just require they OR another character in the unit win the challenge.Running a Champion and Herald together is peak and you will not convince me otherwise. Also Champions should keep the option for a Paragon Blade but still be able to take normal weapons, I'm tired of this 'Paragon Blade only for challenges' meta
Heralds should count as having a legion standardor at least a company standardfuck it, let them buy oneI have spoken.
>>96988746Herald should have the option to go without a standard but have a special rule that lets them loot one from the first unit they kill with their standard.Depending on if it's a Vexilla/Company Standard/Legion Standard they earn more VP at the end of the game. And if it was another Herald's standard they auto-win
>>96988756>t. pic related
>>96988716The herald rule should go to the champion and the herald should have other rules
>>96987678>Exodus snap shots hit on a 3+ actually. Still with precisionBut Snapshots cannot be Precision hits, anon>>96987738>The Prime spend is admittedly something Exodus doesn't need and AL often does for Rewards of TreasonI'd steal a unit with good shooting and deepstrike >PhraetusPreferably also one with no champion or Traitor requirement, so I guess I'll wait for Naufragia, see they do phosphex better than DG and hate myself
>>96987978And this does not ditch all your melee attacks, unlike Perturabo's. Crunch really suffers for fluff's sake>>96987983It really is that bad. I think1. Using a pistol should be available to every duelist2. It shouldn't void your melee attacks
>>96988045Nah. At most they were T3 EW guys with S6 hammers, no? That doesn't sound so oppressive
>>96988491>I picked a fluffy [not Finisher] gambit>He picked [one of the two gambits that matter]Yikes
>>96988788No
>>96988716I disagree. Though Champions should be able to take whatever weapon they want, yeah. This is so NOBODY ends up taking Paragon Blades, and GW sees they suck compared to Thunder Hammers, the one weapon that matters.Idk I guess Paragons could stand being S+2 or something. They be like "oops I don't wound termies half the time"
>>96988746Legion standard. Agreed >>96988788Heralds had Master of the Legion when they were introduced in 1.0. That was so they could unlock Rites of War without needing a Praetor. Now Rites of War became access to specific detachments. And the Champion unlocks one of the best non-Apex detachments with Elite and Retinue slots.Let that be the Herald's rule, while you give the rule to the Champion.
>>96988878Paragon blade is better than a thunder hammer in a challenge, at least it is on a champion with that prime upgrade. Six attacks with WS 7 that almost always gets to attack first, one or two critical hits in addition to regular damage and anything that isn't a saturnine praetor fucking dies.
You retards, if you swap them than you might as well just delete the champion, no one's taking that piece of shit for his stats when he's stuck dealing 1 damage in a world where even human characters are 3w. At least the herald actually has a chance in a challenge since he can have a powerfist.
>>96988845Flurry of blows and Guard Up are more relevant than you think.
>>96988878They probably could stand to do some extra damage, maybe make them Rending or Shredding in some capacity. Or they could go down the Lightning Claw route and do both.Personally, I feel like the Terminator Weapon tryptich of Hammer-Fist-Chainfist could do with some adjusting. Chainfists for example, would be fine if they lost Shred and just went up to D3. Hammers... the most boring thing would be to make them the same initiative penalty as fists and have them drop some points. Alternatively, you could drop them down to D1, but give them Critical 5+ or 6+. Which would sort of bring back the classic Autowound ability from 2nd ed. Then leave Fists in between.
>>96989050>yeah bro just make chainfists one shot any PA centurion this surely won't just make them the OP spambot weapon
>>96984428>>96984415These are so fucking cool its unreal.
>>96989077NGL my chainfist praetor used to be a filthy power dagger abuser since 1.0 has already won quite a few challenges in one round thanks to Shred.
>>96988831In 2.0 they were 2+,3++ 4w, 4 attacks that had murderous strike. If you didn't ID him there is a good chance he lops your praetor's head off.In 1.0 he was that with more tricks.
Paragon of Battle herald in a jump pack and powerfist in Alone and Forgotten and Blade of the Just racking up victory and honor points bullying squads with +4 to combat resolutions or clobbering people in challenges
Are Gal Vorbak bad in 3.0?
>>96989541They're at the worst they've been because GW hates them for some reason and nerfs them every edition, but they're more just overcosted then actively bad. They're still a pain in the ass to chew through with anything short of AV14 tier tank weapons and incredibly fast, and they're still pillowfisted as fuck outside if their two power fists. Really they suffer more from phraetus stealing their thunder and finally giving WB the terminator punching death star unit they always wanted.
>>96979349legions has some kino art tho
>>96979342So this talk about Seekers got me to try and build a 1ksons list with as many as possible because they can combine Rending with them via Corvidae.Except while doing so I realised 1ksons Inductii might actually be better than them if you're just going for numbers. Mathhammer-wise they're about 25% more expensive for the same amount of damage (comparing a squad of 10 Corvidae Seekers at 205 pts vs a squad of 20 Inductii with Aphyx Bolters at 240 pts) but at the same time you're getting twice as many bodies and twice as many wounds while exchanging Infiltrate for Line (1). Not to mention they're easier to spam given they're Troops. That and you can buff them with Librarians/Prosperine Sorcerers to get your Precision and status spam back.So let me present, the "Oops All Rubricae" list:>Crusade Detachment - 1 750 pts>2x Raptora Librarian (Command) w/ Divination and Telepathy - 125 pts>2x Prosperine Sorcerer (Command) - 105 pts>4x 20 man Inductii Squad (Troops) w/ Aphyx Bolters, Vexilla and Nuncio-Vox - 260 pts>Corvidae Contemptor-Osiron Dreadnought (War Engine, via Logistical Benefit) w/ Kheres Assault Cannon, Havoc Launcher and Divination - 250 pts>Tactical Support Detachment - 625 pts>20 man Inductii Squad (Troops) w/ Aphyx Bolters, Vexilla and Nuncio-Vox - 260 pts>10 man Corvidae Tactical Support Squad (Support) w/ Rotor Cannons, Thunder Hammer, Vexilla, Nuncio-Vox and Augury Scanner - 235 pts>2 gun Corvidae Rapier Battery (Support) w/ Laser Destroyers - 130 pts>Tactical Support Detachment - 625 pts>20 man Inductii Squad (Troops) w/ Aphyx Bolters, Vexilla and Nuncio-Vox - 260 pts>10 man Corvidae Tactical Support Squad (Support) w/ Rotor Cannons, Thunder Hammer, Vexilla, Nuncio-Vox and Augury Scanner - 235 pts>2 gun Corvidae Rapier Battery (Support) w/ Laser Destroyers - 130 pts
>>96989836The Tactical Support Squads provide a spot for the Librarians to hang out and buff shit without fucking with the Inductii's ability to cast Ætheric Guidance (their Rotor Cannons don't need the Corvidae buff as much, it's just for a back-up) while also shitting out tactical statuses like the Sorcerers, meanwhile the Osiron + Rapiers exist to kill the shit that 120 Rending + Breaching bolters can't. A single squad of Inductii will wipe half an opposing Tactical/Despoiler blob of the same size when they shoot, which is over twice as many as the equivalent number of Tacticals could do (mostly because the Inductii get an average of 13.33 AP2 wounds each time they shoot).Compare this to the above 120 Seeker list >>96984424, the Seekers can themselves do more damage and infiltrate, but the list gives up any functional anti-tank, any Line units, and can't as effectively apply its statuses because Seekers have to give up Breaching to do so.
>>96989836>>96989841>mostly because the Inductii get an average of 13.33 AP2 wounds each time they shootCorrection, I did the maths wrong, it's 10 AP2 wounds instead, so they're about 1.8 times better than the same points worth of Tacticals. The funny thing is somehow the math against TEQs works out so the same goes here, the Inductii will do 1.8 times as much damage as the same points of Tacticals shooting a squad of Cataphractii (and better against Tartaros). Bizarrely this also makes them almost 50% better point for point than a plasma gun TSS
If I wanted to do a group of blood angels, white scars, and thousand sons with lots of psykers whose shtick is refusing the obey nikaea or turn over their thousand sons buddies, lorewise would it make more sense to operate like shattered legions and keep their original colors or take on a new name and heraldry like blackshields? If the former, do you still have to do the mandatory mixing thing? It doesn't seem to be relevant in rules anymore for SL and I always thought it looked dumb as hell.
>>96989972You don't have to mix them anymore, the only benefit to doing so is the mixed wargear options (eg: Termies with some models having Storm Shields while others get Carsoran Axes via mixing IF and SoH)
...She's a big lad.
>>96990058>>96990058>>96990058>>96990058
>>96989541Nope just overcosted. They’re ws 5 fast terminators that hit at initiative with s5 ap3 with a 5+ fnp. The only issue is that they’re 50ppm so unless you slap a flamer on them or get really lucky with their bolter shots, you’re not gonna be able to take out a 20 man tac squat at 50 pts less. They’re not the worst unit we have right now but they’re a hard sell vs a conclave or ashen circle

I just really like reading the Black Books and the Titanicus lore. There's some fun in reading about all that transpired in the universe "before" and the little stories of characters within the civil war. From named characters to one-off marines.I'm probably a little mentally ill because I haunt these threads too often for my own good.
>>96984064the only downsize with 32mm bases is you cannot interlink the shields in a tight shieldwall
>>96989077Oh, like the ThunderHammer isn't right now you fucking gibbon. Plus at least the Chainfist is limited to Terminators only unlike the fucking Hammer which is available to everybody and their aunt thanks to it being in the Officers wargear list.Plus you can one shot a Centurion with a VetBreacher Lascutter, I don't see anyone whining about that.
>>96989836>4x 20 man Inductii Squad (Troops) w/ Aphyx Bolters, Vexilla and Nuncio-Vox - 260 ptsInductii cannot be used on prime slots ILLEGAL LIST ALERT
>>96989541Bad? Maybe not.Good? No.Theyre lower attack than they were in previous editions and their statline (3+ t5 3w) means less than in previous editions due to instant death being swapped for flat damage values. On the plus side their FNP is now always active. Their weapons also lost the "instant death" potential so theyre not as scary to characters and dreads. Theyre still farily fast for their weight class and will still mulch veterans or marines, but they still dont want to mash with terminators.
