>>97006925I feel like if you're purposely putting those two cards into a deck fully aware that it becomes mld and you intend on using them in combination as mld then it is mld, yes. >>97007551Sorry, nuPhyrexia is just inherently cringe. It's sad but it is true.
Was Odyssey peak magic? They deliberately finished 10 years of Magic storyline with Apocalypse and threw everything away to start fresh and new. The world was original, with new cultures that weren't mere echoes of what came before or weak attempts at creating hat expies of real world ones. The story and themes reflected MTG accurately, harkening back to 1994's Arena novel front and center. The 2000s dudeguy protagonist was the weakest link but it beats the ones today.
>>97007646For nu-full arts they are pretty goodI also like the art-deco lands from SNC

The way the idea was introduced was one of the most spine-tingling moments in all MTG fiction, however low a bar that may be. >>97008435>>97008415Gotta be the same person arguing with himself at this point.
I proxy basics because I like how they look.I'll also proxy expensive cards like Gix if they're my commander (back when he was $10+) or Bitterblossom if they have crazy synergy with the deck, but I don't proxy staples just because they're staples. I always have some crappy cards I can swap in if they're a problem for the table anyway.I'll also proxy pain lands, check lands, slowlands, filter lands, and enemy tango lands if they're exorbitantly expensive for some reason (a lot of them are).I don't do shocks, fetches, surveils, or triomes because those are too expensive and not everyone splurges on their manabase.
I only proxy cards I own or I feel are 'strictly necessary' for a deck. For example there's no card better for Oketra than the new Appa card. >>97007003

Its something I was wanting as far as its effect goes, but the artwork/design is just too god awful and I won't use it. I considered overlooking the card being from aetherdrift but once I realized the card I couldn't.But shit like that is why I won't use a single Spiderman card, or TMNT, or Marvel, and probably Star Trek too. >>97011071>No one cares about lore, people care about story. That is the same thing niggerHoly gymnastics
>>97009338And blood moon effects shouldn't be relegated to bracket 4 hell either. Gavin and co are brainlets when it comes to good rules. It's not my problem to coddle someone who built a 3+ color greedpile with no basics in it. That should be part of the risk in every bracket if you're going with more than 2 color decks. Should Ghostly Prison or Crawlspace also be bracket 4 cards because they shut down entire deck types? Fact is WOTC designers are a bunch of petty autistic nerd faggots that refuse to regulate their favorite deck types and slop piles, that's why they're fine with tutors at all brackets because "lol some cost a bit more so that's okay :) " and they refuse to make distinctions between non-basic/basic land hate, mass land denial, and mass land destruction. But no, introducing rules like that would mean sweaty faggots would actually have to make compromises and they wouldn't be able to shit out 3 color slop goodstuff piles willy nilly and that's just yucking peoples yum too hard. :(
>>97011241>and probably Star Trek too. Just not happening.I could be wrong but I think Trek will be decent. I think they will avoid the shittiest spinoffs. There will definitely be a lilot of legendary sloppa but I think Trek has potential and some of it will be good
Dark Souls UB in 2027It will blow Final Fantasy out of the water
>>97010065There is no meta. Three Dog is a shit bracket 1 commander. No inherent protection, requires build around, no redundancy, auras are one of the worst card types, you have to invest in going wide and auras to make it work, and after all that bullshit you still have to fucking pay for the privilege of blowing your own shit up so unless you're somehow cheating the costs it's minimum 3 mana per aura on top of getting Three Dog and your creatures out.
>>97011090it really is hilarious how bad samefags are at pattern recognition. That or they intentionally trying to bury the lead, but i doubt they are that smart.
>>97010170What's going to kill the game isn't UB or power creep, it's going to be "complexity creep" when nobody can play a card without someone having to look up what the fuck these keywords do or sit there and read out a novella of reminder text explaining how "Manifest Dread" is different from "Morph" and "Disguise" because nobody except no lifers can be bothered to remember what any of that shit is. Even with reminder text on some cards, whenever I play a card with unfamiliar keywords I can already see everyone elses eyes roll back as soon as I announce what the card does. What have we all gotten in the last year alone? Fucking warp and lander tokens and mobilize and endure and frenzy and renew and harmonize and omens and behold and webslinging and air/water/fire/earthbending? And TMNT and Lorwyn are barely spoiled and they're already showing we have shit like sneak and mutagen and mutavault on the way. People are going to get rapidly burnt out on new mechanics.
>>97011427>frenzyif only...
>>97011427sneak is just ninjutsu with a cast trigger because blue apologists need to be able to counterspell everything.
>>97011445I'm a phonephaggot and it autocorrected Flurry to Frenzy for some fucking reason.Flurry is probably the most egregious example because it's not even an actual keyword. The only thing creatures with Flurry have in common is that it relies on casting a second spell, each "Flurry" does something different and there was zero need go put it on the 12 whole cards they made with the word pretending like its an actual mechanic instead of a bunch of different abilities. I've said it before and I'll say it again: MaRo and Gavin and the rest of the team fucking suck at design. Every decently designed card they've shat out is 100% accidental.
>>97011427You have a point. There really is too many of these keywords that are just the same as another. But I think for the most part that's a problem that's almost solved by the players themselves. People just naturally don't run those cards. No one, not even people who bought the precons for Edge Of Eternities, have used a warp card or landers. I think to some extent players, even if it's only unconsciously, don't bother once the complexity of keywords is beyond them and it helps mitigate these issues. I think the only one we'll probably be seeing with any regularity is the bending stuff since, unlike the majority of keywords or abilities we've gotten over the years, a lot of the commander options from that set have them built in more core to their identity. No, it's not a good solution that the players just chose to completely ignore what was supposed to be the unique set gimmick, but it's something holding the complexity from getting too ridiculous. I think what really keeps things in check is that people will just say their cards do a thing and people roll with it.
>ward - gift a creature
>>97011505I was wonder what felt so different about it. Should have realized it was for bliggers.
>>97011564punished for not blocking during combat? Nope! counterspell that sneak cast! Why care about about any phase that isn't your upkeep.
>>97011563Absolutely punishing for tall decks and a nothing cost for wide decks. I don't know if they'd so directly give a triggered ability creature steal though. If they did do something like that it would probably give 1/1 fish or something. Maybe like Kazuul and give 3/3 ogres or a copy of a creature on the battlefield.
Bad Dog 1WInstantGift a fish.Tap target creature. If you gave the gift, destroy it instead.

>Ward - Discard your hand, mill your library, sacrifice every permanent you control, exile your graveyard, and lose the game.

>Ward—Suck your opponent's cock until he or she cooms
>>97011427What's really cool is that they will keep shitting up the game with this at a rapid rate indefinitely because blocks have been abolished and reusing UB mechanics such as waterbending is extremely difficult if not impossible. These mechanics just have no staying power and thus will be even harder to keep in your head.
I have a confession, I have no idea how energy works. I just nod my head and pretend I know what's happening.

>>97012277If only there were two sets packed full of hybrid cards being released very soon.......
>>97012225I hate green. One of the many reasons I think Trinket Mage is retarded is because he insists tutors are good because they create more dynamic games because you can tutor for anything, and that the problem people have with tutors is what card is tutored for rather than the tutor itself, but doesn't realize that your tutor will get the best card in your deck 9/10 times regardless of what that card is. Just because you aren't tutoring for Thoracle combo does not mean you are tutoring for something that isn't the best card in your deck. Trinket Mage says you don't always have to tutor for the best thing in your deck, so his argument is "If you don't play efficiently, they aren't bad." but if we're ignoring all the rules and structure of play then it doesn't matter what plays you sequence at all because you're more interested in "dynamic gameplay" than you are the actual gameplay itself.I have a friend who runs picrel and he complains about how samey his games are because he always tutors the same vehicle first every game. I told him to take that vehicle out and he said "But then I'll just get (this vehicle) first instead every time instead." and this guy still agrees with Trinket Mage somehow.

>>97012280Cart before the horse, anon.
>>97012280Avatar? The hybrid cards in it are ass.
>>97012281Your friend isn't very bright either.
>>97012281Tutors DO create a more dynamic game because they let you tutor answers you need. It's more interesting when you need to play around stax and removal. But green players don't understand that so they asked WotC to ban MLD even though nobody had a problem with it as long as it was only used to stop green players, until brackets came out.
>>97012306>Opponent has Rhystic Study on board.>I have a tutor in hand.>I should two for one myself by tutoring an answer to their Rhystic Study instead of getting my own Rhystic Study.
>>97012326Obviously you should tutor farewell and get many-for-one
>>97012306eeeh it kinda just becomes a game of getting to the combo piece first the higher in power level you go.
>>97012117I played against this guy at Magiccon. He is a game journalist level player and he would repeatedly king make people while claiming it was an interesting choice while talking about how creative every non-staple card that got played was. Completely insufferable "that guy."
>>97012281german here, I have read this post 2 times now and I'm convinced that this is some incoherent schizo ramble that doesn't say anything
>>97012363You could say this about the whole polycule which has their heads so far up their asses they self-report and don't realize it >Trinket Mage joins Spelltable lobby labeled "no infinites">Mindslaver locks the table>Gets into argument on how he's not doing an infinite
>>97012277Yes and among those there are very few who would be played in decks that didn't already have those two colors because the natural synergies of the card just don't make much sense in 90% of decks in a different color identity or would simply not be any good due to being very pip heavy in the one color you do have. Still, there are several niche cases where certain cards will 100% be wanted in decks that normally wouldn't be able to play them, and above all those cases will apply to mono-colored decks which will undoubtedly be the ones that are affected the most by the change. Still, the point is not that the change has a fairly small impact given the hybrid cards that do exist, it's that the change has potential to have a very big impact given the hybrid cards they might print in Lorwyn and future sets.
>>97012369>This rule change is bad because of things that might happen in the futureWe should ban colorless cards because they might print a 4-drop that gives you protection from everything and draws your whole deck.
>>97012326I tutor my tyranid board wipe every time because my opponents don't play blue and let me get away with literally anything
>>97012335It's not actually, cEDH players are starting to learn that if you have a tutor in your starting hand you should use it to fetch one of your main value pieces rather than saving it for when you want to get a combo piece. But you're right in saying that the way you described is how tutors were mostly used in practice for a long time, but that's only because cEDH players who never played competitive mtg formats are fundamentally unskilled players so a lot of what was considered optimal play was actually dumb garbage.
>>97012383>I have never played cEDHIt's been midrange value hell for the past five years.
>>97012383cedh never looked like a game of skill to me, it was always prebaked loops everyone was just playing out and hope they hit first, with actual interaction always being who had the few best counterspells in hand as they tried to perform the same loop again.
How much dedicated interaction do you think you should run in your decks? I think ten is the maximum for me usually, but I tend to stay closer to five.
>>9701241011 cards at least
>>97012400>It's been midrange value hell for the past five yearsif cedh was a midrange hell back when dockside jewlotus and crypt were still legal then cedh now is a midrange apocalypse

>>97012400It's actually looped back into turboslop again.>>97012402It's not, but not for the reasons you think. It's actually because the only real skill involved is in manipulating people into playing to your advantage and forcing ties whenever that doesn't work.
>>97012498It counters Farwell, you need anything else? If you do, there's Null Brooch.
>>97012545Fuck, forgot pic.
>>97012550Gimme a CC instant "counter target spell" dammit.
>>97012410It really depends. Is your deck consistently trying to be aggressive from that start? In that case holding up interaction can just be a tempo loss and counterspells and/or stuff that protects your board is more important.Does your deck usually take a while to get going? In that case you might want more removal, but if you find you usually spend the first few turns ramping and playing other noncreatures spells it might be better to run more wraths than spot removal. There's always obvious shit like if you're playing white you're playing swords and path unless you deliberately don't want to play those cards because whatever, sure, but aside from that you need to take into consideration the play patterns of your deck. That being said I try to run 10-15 pieces of interaction spread over all types (not counting board protection), and now that you have so much interaction stapled onto lands the opportunity cost is really low.
>>97012410the golden rule I learned from anon is ~20 points of interaction in the deck. that includes board wipes and protection.>5definitely too low, even if you are talking about removal only. you should run a mix of very cheap interaction, and interaction that synergizes with your deck (like creatures that fight/destroy/deal damage on ETB for rampy/cheaty decks).>>97012567what this anon says. 15 points of interaction is solid, and most decks can reach that easily.
im looking to start playing with a friend group that has been playing for a whilewhat precon(s) do you nerds reccomend?
>>97012622The simic duskmourne one. Zimone, Myster Unraveler I believe is the commander.
>>97012622Depends on what you have available to you. The Final Fantasy precons are good, so are the ones from Edge of Eternities and Tarkir Dragonstorm. Quick Draw from OTJ and the black/red one from Duskmourn are also very good. The Warhammer 40k precons are also very strong right out of the box and have insane value, but good luck finding one for MSRP.
>>97012622any recent one that looks cool to you. personally, I liked tarkir dragonstorm , especially the azban armor set was easy, fun mechanics.>>97012655this. warhammer necrons are probably the easiest one to play, and tyranids have an extremely strong alternative commander with magus lucea kane, which also also extremely easy to build.
>>97012593>15-20Fucking how? I generally run like 5 at most. Are you using every counterspell known to man?
>>97012691>UBslopper thinks interaction strictly means counterspellsLmao faggot
>>97012498You have to play blue if you want counterspells.
>>97012622The lotr aragorn one is pretty good and easy to pilot. Still pretty cheap on Amazon I think Get the mh3 eldrazi one if you really want to dunk on your friends
>>97012691interaction means interacting with the stack AND board. this guy here is interaction.
What's the best commander for a good ol' Jund valuepile? I miss playing a super grindy strategy.
Why run removal when I can just run the stuff that needs to be removed instead?
Anyone ever print any decent proxies at staples? I printed a test batch but they came out a bit fuzzy.
>>97012831Ulalek is a goofy mess right out of the box. Zhulodok is far more consistent, but he also requires work to get all the trash out and replaced with the titans.
>>97012907In that case you run removal for the things that make you lose the game dingus. If you're playing, for example, a go wide tokens deck and you go why would I run board wipes? I'm the reason everyone else needs board wipes! Then your entire deck folds to a Ghostly Prison and then you come here and complain about gay tryhard stax players rather than run enchantment removal.
>>97012905Depends on the flavour of value pile you wanna play. Korvold, Henzie and Lord Windgrace are all good candidates.
>>97012907that works against bad decks. good decks will remove your shit while they continue to drop their game enders unchallenged.

>>97013096yes lmao
>>97012914Yeah. Use a better image and make sure you scale it properly

>>97013253literally no one is confused.
>>97013264you haven't been reading enough posts and comments, some people are definitely confused
>>97013253The color is on the card
>>97013335what are you trying to say here
>>97013217Ink is for photos because the intent is to look nice, catch is that it's not as economic.Toner is for documents because you don't care about things looking that nice, but it's cheaper.Go watch just about any video on making nice proxies, they all use inkjets for a reason. If you feel overwhelmed or confused you're probably better off throwing money at your problem rather than your time.
>>97013315Cool, you tell the person once and now they know. Just like with extort, firebending, etc.The solution shouldn't be to make things dumber (that's now we're littered with morons here), it should be to make people smarter.
At least they finally print more hyperspecific hybrid cards.B/G- Destroy target artifact creature, enchantment creature, or creature with flying.
>>97013426You can't make people smarter but you can make them more knowledgeable. So unfortunately we have to make things dumber.
>>97013390For >>97013315

>>97011427This is partially WOTC being autistic I remember in the original dragons of tarkir, prowess wasn't evergreen yet, but it was in Kahn's of tarkir and fate reforged. So they didn't want to include the word "prowess" in dragons or tarkirSo instead they printed multiple cards that effectively had prowess, but the card didn't actually have the keyword "prowess". This was when I first started noticing how retarded they were and even despite the keyword system they were already collapsing under their own weight. They have done this countless other times with mechanics like flashback or ninjutsu, all sorts of things really To add further irony they made prowess evergreen shortly after.
>>97013716literally no one thought thatfirst of all, it was incredibly obvious when we even just HEARD of the set that each bending style would have an abilitysecond of all, the very first card we saw of the set mentioned those abilities

>>97012622>preconsthere have been some good ones recently, all of the Dragonstorm are good and have different playstyles/flavour, so those would make a great start imo.If you're new and want to improve before you get into more complicated stuff (no shame in taht) I'd recommend the white/red/black deck and especially the green/blue/red deck.

Hello everybody. I need help with my deck:https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/flying-monk-enlightenment/I need to cut 24 cards, but I'm not sure what to cut. The idea is:Plan A: Approach of the Second Sun + Scrying with Siani (or the various draw effects)Plan B: Fly people to deathI really like the flying hate-creatures, so I may have gone overboard on them. I also have a lot of flying monks and Ojutai, because this started off as a flying monk theme deck. Rune-tail is a pet card of mine, but I think it vibes well with the attacking-for-scrying idea, and with the vigilance enablers helps keep me from getting beat down too hard.I always suck massive ass on gauging how many mana rocks I need, and how much removal/interaction I'm packing. I tried to add a lot of bounce, as that boosts ishai. Doesn't have to be the greatest deck in the world, but I'm trying not to make a big pile of shit. Any feedback (even adding additional cards) is appreciated.
>>97014088TEARS INCOMING
>>97014010Thanks anon, but I meant the act of selling it more like, does it need to be graded or do trading people just accept it as long as it looks fine without any visible problems?I realise (and accept) I won't get 100% of the price it's listed as online hehe
>>97014104>does it need to be gradedif you want is as a long term "investment" yes>do trading people just accept it as long as it looks fine without any visible problems?the people that will pay the prices for these kinds of cards know what to look for to avoid being scammed so you can go that route too

>>97014104Just keep in mind if selling it online shipping expensive things, especially fragile ones theres some precautions to take, and you can buy insurance for the product if you want which is usually a % of the insured value.I don't know much about selling expensive individual cards myself though, so good luck.Korra didn't deserve to meet Iroh.
>>97014096I really like this deck. I always wanted to make a WU flyer aggro deck. I looked through most of the non-creature cards. Propoganda and Ghostly Prison stick out to me. You already are creature heavy and have lots of removal and bounce. Do you really need these two to protect your from attacking creatures, while drawing a considerable amount of hate from the pod?Maybe cut these two and add two more mana rocks.
>>97013911nice, I'll add sozin's comet when it comes in. I ended up going slower and removed all of my double triggers.
