since Witcher got aborted I'd prefer Heroes of the Wastes: Mutant Wasteland MCYOA rework V3.0, does any anon have the files that featured the multiplayer rework for it? It was posted an age ago and I remember people made OC for it. But the specific multiplayer rewrite for the general thread was different from what's been saved in the imgchests, and had more choices. The only problems I remember is there was no big bad or overaching conflict and the starting locations by choice meant only 1-2 characters were even within proximity of each other for miles without a real reason to interact. So it sounds like some general ground rules need to be set like what was proposed with Witcher.

Some get taken over, but Itsuki's so badass and has such strong willpower, that even with needles piercing him all over (and one puncturing his eye), he still overpowers the control and manages to kill the Irate Object.>Kurobane Group's first major encounter with the HLA, They hold up well enough, but Itsuro and/or Kentaro are too fucking strong and are whooping their asses. Itsuki barely saves Reiji from a serious attack, but gets hit with it and downed. He just starts getting whailed on mercilessly, Kenji and Rin blocking rescue attempts while Itsuro or Kentaro try to put him down. Eventually the Student Council and/or Fujiwara Senki break onto the scene and force the HLA to retreat (likely having accomplished whatever their main goal was). Even with healing, Itsuki is seriously injured - notably, one of Itsuki's orbitals was totally crushed, and he lost an eye. This also gives him motivation to go after the HLA.>Scrap the Idea World entirely, lean into the Real World becoming more of a threat. The Yakuza are still pissed off after the events of Violence Breeds Violence, and start becoming more of a threat in Kageoka's underground. They are misinformed about Itsuki's (past) allegiance to the Fujiwara Senki, and capture him. They torture him for information for a while, and after threatening to cut off a finger, Itsuki taunts them or spits in their face or something - resulting in them taking an eye instead. He's left to bleed out, and discovered by the Kurobane Group or Yaya (Scout III).Feel free to ignore, just throwing out suggestions.

A common plot point in this kind of setting is exactly that, that the characters grow overconfident because they keep fighting the small fry and remain unaware of the fact bigger problems lie on the horizon. In other words, it's normal for the stakes to be low at low levels, they will rise exponentially when we start fighting gods.

Love and the Russian Winter for example wasn't ever about who'd live and who'd die, it was about if the census club would stay or be dissolved, and I think that was a smart conflict to build tension around.For the most part though it's a dirty rat race with no good solutions, because everyone wants different things.
