You can thin it with water, so you just need a tiny sausage of it laid into the gap and then you can squish it in with a tool and smooth the top out with a wet brush. I like greenstuff for big gaps because it has more structure but it struggles when you get to doing tiny details on a slippery surface

Next edition should rework deatchments into something like the 3rd edition armylists. It's way better for balance and allows adding extra armylists for any given army at any moment without impacting the existing armylists while also having room for more flavourful rosters.
