>Demiurge or Guevasa Tau auxiliary?
Former would be a more pricier but more tanky breacher unit that is more suited for taking objectives, even if slower.

Guevasa would be a more flexible unit that would essentially allow you to soup breacher/strike/pathfinder heavy weapons team kits as the unit's "ability". Would also allow for you to buy multiple kits to get effective all-human versions of standard squads.
>>
>>97048337
Seconding what that other anon said, I don't think anyone said you need to finish the unit.

Now its just those last few things, and then all the freehanding that's left to do. Do you guys think I should leave the stitching lines black or do my initial idea which is to paint silver lines within them, as metallic stitches?

You guys think GW could release a tactics heavy supplement for certain factions? Kill team style but more rules and details. No hit points but you calculate armor thickness to weapon force and determine body damage from the impacts, aim chances for certain sections of the body or creature, blast plate along with wind direction for chemicals, different fighting tactics when in close combat, individual model actions in fights, aim penalties not for night fighting but calculating the light levels as the turns go on, fuel reserves for vehicles and certain weapons, and so on. This way thet can sell more dice, more equipment, and get the autistic wargamers who love measuring bullet fall off.

Dark Angles or Black Templars. Depends on if you want noble knights or crusaders
>>
>>97048618
Dark Angels are Arthurian “Secret Order” Knights
Black Templars are Crusader Knights
All Marines with swords have a knight feel to them like the BGV’s, but ultimately the previously mentioned chapters are the easiest picks for that feel
>>

All space marines are functionally knights but for an explicitely medieval aesthetic you have 3 main options
-Dark Angels: Gay Knights
-Black Templars: Psychopathic Knights
-Gray Knights: Schizophrenic Knights

Black Templars are black armor with lots of surcoats/tabards hanging out, blood angels are also somewhat inspired in late maximillian armor via Bram Stoker.

Thanks, slowly learning how to paint cloth with all these veterans lel
And think so, this GSW ember orange is pretty much the perfect hot red-orange for the new scheme, now I'm going schizo over the lighter grey on their bodies reading as white no matter how much darker I go with it lmao
>>
>>97048657
Black Templars would be closest seeing as they're themed around crusading, also just the generic "oath of moment" mechanic is pretty knightly in lore, but feels generic in execution.

>She fought the urge to clamber back into bed and pull the coverlet over her head. Instead, she decided to dress, and began to unlace her nightshirt. It was a little strange having Eremenitas in there, but there was no chance of impropriety. Eremenitas wasn’t a man any more. He’d carved away all those parts of himself so as to better be able to think. For many Martians, sexuality was an unwelcome distraction. She only used the masculine pronoun in Gothic to avoid confusion. Gender was a matter for more biological beings than they.-Archmagos

Deapite trying hard to thin my paints and not go over any areas again before the first layer dries, I stj have significant texturing on my current model(albeit much less than my last one). What can I do to troubleshoot? Thin even more? Shake paint bottle more thoroughly?
>>
>>97048947

It could be your primer layer or the paint really needs more time to dry or the paint is really thick/have large pigments (a lot of white paints suffer from this)
>>
>>97048957
I don't thinj I can meaningfully capture what it looks like with my camera and current lighting. The paint in question is mephiston red. Primer layer, at the very least, felt very smooth to the touch and looked quite good as well.

Maybe happened because it was a little cold outside when I was priming and things stuck together, who knows.

Am I the only one who gets less and less interested in xeno factions the more I get into this game. I've never had any interest in things like chaos or orks, but even species that I did find cool like eldar, tau and nids seem to have less to offer the more I learn about the imperium's possibilities. Knights are lowk just more badass than battlesuits and all the other tau shit is just fish twinks with guns. I like nids in theory with the massive monsters but they all just look gross the longer I look at them, and Eldar, while having some of the most interesting lore, all look like a bunch of faggots with their models I'm ngl

>>
>>97049746
You have a good attitude about you. I think one of the reasons we get better painters here is that you get to actually talk to the painters, whereas other socials you tend to have people just looking for "number go up" engagement. Even if you get a response to a question you had off someone on a traditional social media page, it tends to be harder to have longer conversations which are how you really learn stuff
>>
>>97049754
That's how I look at it. If you buy an 100 pack of brushes for 20$ and 30 of them are dogshit then you've still saved money and synthetics can be repaired and fixed up fairly easily
>>
>>97049723
I don't think this is actually true in lore. Ofc there are differences between chapter masters. But I can easily imagine someone like dante using his jump pack to simply zip around too fast to get pinned down by their numbers, on top of the fact that with his vastly above average ability and his incredible wargear he'd probably be killing 5+ fodder enemies a second when he is fighting them

But representing it that way on tabletop would be retarded, hence >>97049734

Realistically most primarchs would probably defeat a warlord titan in a 1v1 duel but that would make it so you would never be able to play with your primarchs due to the points cost they require so they end up being about as valuable as a tank
>>
>>97049783
>Realistically most primarchs would probably defeat a warlord titan in a 1v1 duel but that would make it so you would never be able to play with your primarchs due to the points cost they require so they end up being about as valuable as a tank

NTA but yeah the game is abstracted and for good reason, unless you want marines to be able to insta kill base humans on an advance roll
>>
>>97049783
>I don't think this is actually true in lore
Controversial unironic dogshit opinion timee:
It is. The game is the ultimate measurer because the game has to play fair in all directions and approximate the stats between factions in an arbitrated way without playing favourites or doing too much nicities
>b-b-but le game is le... BROKEN due to meta!
It doesn't matter. Take any unit, sum up its stats throughout every edition and then take the average. Its gonna total to something similar either way, no unit ever went from 3 toughness to 10 or whatnot, the most "outrageous" example would be marines going from 1W to 2 and that's pretty much it
>>97049788
It is abstracted, but it is as much abstracted as it could be. It is still an abstraction of SOMETHING and that something is very much "real" and exists
If marines were as "hyper" as some BL novels paint them, they'd have custodes-grade rules before custodes even existed. Same rationale can and should be extended to primarchs. But they, in fact, don't have rules like that because the creators didn't deem them to be speshul enuff, they're merely strong enough to meet measure of one of their many opponents
>>
>>97049803

Non sequitur
If primarchs could have Knight/Greater Daemon statlines they would because those already exist. If marines could have custodes statlines they would because those already exist
>>
>>97049803
>The game is the ultimate measurer because the game has to play fair in all directions and approximate the stats between factions in an arbitrated way without playing favourites or doing too much nicities
That very fairness is what makes the game not a good indicator of the actual lore. Sure, you might say a lot of lore wanks the faction its about, because it does, but the game still flattens the powerlevels to be more or less even, unless you think orks, termagaunts and regular-ass imperial guardsmen actually all take the same amount of damage before going down
>>
I dislike power level autism in 40k because the setting is not consistent or well defined enough to actually establish anything. Its just a waste of time.
>>
>>97049826
Except primarchs do explicitely have knight and greater daemon stats in the actual books. They make them weaker in game because they know primarchs are popular and don't want them to be so prohibitive to take in your army
>>
>>97049832
>actual books
Your codex is the only "actual" book
>They make them weaker in game because they know primarchs are popular and don't want them to be so prohibitive to take in your army
No, they make them the way they are because that reflects the real state of things
See: DAEMON primarchs, which actually DO have statlines comparable to Greater Daemons. Ask yourself why loyalist ones don't have statlines like that?
>>
>>97049723
100... could solo... Are you one of them retarded folk? What do you think "solo" means?
>>
>>97049827
>but the game still flattens the powerlevels to be more or less even
I mean IMO it does because the powerlevels, on ground level at which 40k takes place, are more or less even, even if the scope is different (i.e. there are far more boys/termagants than there are guardsmen)
>unless you think orks, termagaunts and regular-ass imperial guardsmen actually all take the same amount of damage before going down
I mean, kinda? You're also being slightly disingenuous because ork boys historically have more toughness than the other two
And as a nid autist, yeah termagants aren't that tough, they're approximately mass-produced leopard golems with SMGs

Nta but I'd argue that mimicry isn't really speech. Even the smartest birds are really only good with association and there isn't much coherent meaning being placed behind their words unless they're being reminded of it. For example you can teach a bird to say he wants fresh water, but if he makes the connection that you come and visit his cage and give him attention when he says that, he will just start saying it to get what he wants amd the word will lose its actual meaning to him over time. A bird picks their own context behind words, and there isn't really a way to correct them on that if they don't like the new context more.
>>
>>97050001
>A bird picks their own context behind words, and there isn't really a way to correct them on that if they don't like the new context more.
Which works just fine for the concept of speech. Cats don't have a unified cat language, they each develop their own unique dialect on the fly to fit the person they are trying to communicate with. Give them complex vocal chords and I'm sure they could go the distance.

not specifically for the Gorgon, but there is an instance in a novel, i cannot remember if its one of the Ciaphas Cain novels, or in one of the Baneblade novels, where a Stormlord takes a mortar bomb straight to the troop compartment and it wipes out all 20 dudes in the back.

They could do it with an errata, they aren't too far off;
> Inquisitors can take an Ordo keyword and actually get wargear options
> Add Stormtroopers, Valkyries, Land Raiders and Razorbacks
> De-Legend Daemonhosts, Crusaders and Death Cults
> 'At All Costs' now applies to all IA detachments as an army rule
> Navy gets a new thing to fill the gap
> New Detachment that let's you take a certain amount of inducted IMPERIUM units
> Ordo detachments expand in scope so they affect more than the bare minimum units

That is because in order to like the Eldar you actually have to have pretty refined sense of aesthetics, whereas marine fanboys have basically zero taste when it comes to what is actually good looking. Only chaos has worse aesthetics in 40k than Space Marines and that is largely because all chaos stuff tends to be is space marines but spikes and other crap stamped on the already ugly as sin looking marines.

Hello everyone. It's time once again for the collage anchor posts. This month's theme was model/unit that can fly. I will as always check the archive too but the best way to not be missed is to submit your entry in reply to the anchor posts.
Deadline is midnight sunday the 30th.

Here is the link to the december vote:
https://strawpoll.com/GPgVYwK2Ena

I read a suggestion earlier this month about the december collage and I'd appreciate your thoughts on it. He suggested that seasonal themes like halloween, christmas and such could be an optional bonus theme for their respective months. For example, let's say bikers/cavalry win. That would mean that you could either do a biker or something festive(or a festive biker). What do you think?

ADB had been the creative lead of 40k for the past few years. They just confirmed the new lead is Phill Kelly (who had been creative lead of AoS since their second edition). We also know Cruddace (the rules lead for 9th and 10th, don't remember if he lead 8th aswell) isn't around anymore since the last WarCom video had a different guy and he just signed for a different company.

I'm gonna be honest there's little positive to talk about these days. I still hate primaris, still hate what they've done with the IG reorganizatin, still hate 10th edition and the prospects of the rules not doubling down on shit I hate are at an all time low. AdMech still gets cucked by superior 30k sculpts and they replaced the cool global campaigns from 3rd edition to disappointing "plot moving" end of edition campaigns with 4 books that are boring to read and have zero player involvement (which is something I don't get because Malign Portents was fucking amazing and that was in 2017 so not that long ago). Imperial Armour remains dead and all the cool FW models and units have either been squatted or locked in 30k. Xenos are eating good at least and I'm glad for them, hopefully next summer is the Ork refresh.
>>
>>97052048
Man If they do an Ork refresh I don't think I could stop myself from buying in.
>>
>>97052057
I'm torn about it. I've wanted to start an ork army for a few years but the half assed boyz "update" made me reconsider because they are gonna update the basic kits and I don't wanna be 60 boyz deep only for the new ones to come out and clash way too much with the old ones.

>>
>>97052017
Phil Kelly the Tau guy? I’ve heard he’s quite the divisive figure for Tau lore.
>>
>>97052097
Special characters have always been around they aren't the problem. The problem is the way they design their special rules. In older editions those characters would have quirky and niche abilities that make them a bit unique compared to the generic hqs but not the buffbots many factions are balanced around that they are in 10th.
In general the design space in 10th is very poor. They've restricted themselves to the same 5 to 10 effects and every single special rule in the game just grants one of them.
>>
>>97052134
Good point, maybe thats why they feel so oppressive compared to the past.

I want to play MY GUYS god dammit, but so many are Must Take it feels.
>>
>>97052129
Yes. But 90% of the time the taufags that complain about him haven't actually read the 3rd edition codex or the Taros campaign. None of the things Kelly explored later were pulled from thin air, the seeds were there from the start.
>>
>>97052022

That's a workaround but it isn't a substitute to the powerful customization options that existed in, say, 4th, between the unrestricted wargear access characters got and the subfaction rules many codexes got.

Yeah I never had any issue with Kelly stuff to be honest.

Annoyed my army's fucking faction leader got off-screened by an imperial assassin though.

There is no narrative, "Decalfag" is not even a real person at this point. It has become an amalgamation of different schizo thread lore ideas that hold no basis in reality.

Suggestion
Flesh out /yourdudes/ to be in an area not occupied by the main storyline, or have /yourdudes/ be a force intended to relieve other parts of the astartes so those factions can participate in the storyline. Sortve like a group of temps that come in and tidy things up when guys like the blood angels, or wolves, or dangels need to go fight over some other system in order to provide fluff for their model release

This doesn't invalidate anything I've said. You CAN proxy named characters with your kitbashed dudes but between the way characters have been designed in 10th and how much they've butchered customization for generic characters the options are very limited. My smashfucker has not been the same and I wouldn't count him as Dante because I'd have to build around him with blood angels units I don't have nor want.

9th fixed a ton of stuff fromm 8th and while it didn't have the quality of core rules of 4th, the stuff around it was pretty cool. Especially by the end when things had been properly balanced. 9th had tons and tons of fluffy rules and customization that just vaporized in 10th wnen it only needed consolidation.

You can use them. They're really good at shooting once and then getting blasted to death. The move might be throwing brutalis dreadnoughts at people with stormravens but outside that they don't have much use
>>
>>97052324
You have people upset that boarding actions doesn't get seasonal updates like the mainline game in this very thread
>>
>>97052321
Here's the thing, they can release another big box and make revisions of the codexes (like they did in 3rd and like DnD does) without having to change the entire edition just for shits and giggles.
>>97052324
So those people will buy things regardless.
>>
>>97052333
I'm upset because boarding actions doesn't have proper listbuilding so it needs GW to give it an update if I want to use a different unit. That wasn't an issue with the old zone mortalis rules.

The most fun I ever had wargaming was aos 1ED before there were points and it was just people putting things on the table and stopping when it seemed fair because nobody really had a perfect understanding of the best synergies yet. I hope 11ed 40k is shrimplified even more and is so different to 10th that nobody knows how to play anymore and has to learn from scratch

kill team is one of GW's best skirmish rulesets that could easily take the roll of boarding actions if they were brazen enough. It has list building and could already be applicable to 100% of 40k infantry models if they cared to make enough proxy-able datasheets and more factions. GW would never though.
>>
Nid bros, are the raveners really that good?
>>
>>97052410

Most of the time they're just dying outright though, the apothecary is primarily there to aid living brothers and recover geneseed

Depends. They can enter suspended animation but it's not the default response to injury. Usually they just keep going normally until their body completely fails and they just die. They would only enter sus-an if the danger is already gone. Apothecaries then go and take their balls.

My paint is just sloughing off the edges of the plastic minis I'm currently whenever I accidentally lightly touch them. Wtf have I done wrong with the primer to cause this, never had it happen before
>>
>>97052858
Is it all the minis or just a particular set or kit?

1 kit: possibly mould release residue on the model

More than 1 kit: trouble with the primer or paint(if you're getting down to bare plastic, probably the primer). Potentially also if you are using a chemical thinner it could be disrupting the existing paint (too much airbrush thinner or flow inprover will do this to certain brands, though usually doesn't affect the primer too
