You come across a gretchin while taking a stroll in your neighborhood. It attacks you with a moldy plank of wood with some rusty nails and a pipe gun that might work. All you have to defend yourself are an item of the last thing you ate and whatever is left on the sprue of your most recently built models.
How do you fare?

I use NMM techniques with TMM paints. This one, I tried adding black ink to Vallejo Gunmetal as a base, used regular gunmetal as the transition, and highlighted with Vallejo Aluminum. I've done similar things before, but this one is rapidly becoming my favorite.

>>
>>97117480

It is usually the tough guys/girls who are into submissive fetishes. Sometimes those in higher power and stressful positions of authority crave being dominated in the bedroom. Those who prefer to be dominated in the bedroom often have anxiety around sex and would rather have someone else assume the dominant role to take the pressure off them. Submission in the bedroom can be an indication of needing to feel intensely vulnerable and desired during sex, which can often be associated with an anxious attachment style. Conversely, those who prefer the dominant role in the bedroom may be craving a sense of control due to feeling powerless in other areas of their lives, such as work or school, and could be trying to compensate for that in the bedroom. However, that's not always the case, and there are many complex reasons why a person would prefer sexual dominance over submission or vice versa.

>The Dark Angels are one of two factions of Space Marines in Dawn of War 4 and are a fully playable faction in all game modes. Here are the key points:

>During the Space Marines campaign, players will undertake missions in command of both the Blood Ravens and the Dark Angels, and they can pick which missions they want to play.

>The Dark Angels have their own, playable Commanders for the Space Marines campaign: Company Master Astoran and Chaplain Ezrael.

>The Dark Angels have their own unique identity and history. As Space Marines, they share core strategies, tactics, wargear, and weaponry, while still maintaining the distinctive flavor and abilities of their Chapter.

>While the Blood Ravens are often engaged in smaller conflicts that require tactical finesse and sometimes involve stealth, the Dark Angels deploy their full might to the biggest battlefields. Precision strikes vs. all-out war.

So Blood Ravens will have their own unique playstyle. Would be funny if BR were the next Marine chapter after Black Templars, Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Space Wolves and now Ultras to get fleshed out.
And even funnier if they stole tacticool, stealth, Phobos spot from Raven Guard

>Company Master Astoran
I predict he'll either die, go missing, or be interred in a dreadnought. Anything that results in his losing company command. He was at the top of the 3rd company prior to the Indomitus era, but he appears to have been succeeded, so he'll plausibly not pull through in this story. Unless he's pulling a Titus and returning to his old job after some years away.

With allies being so limited now days, what would you think of 40k getting AoS style Regiments of Renown?
If you don't play the other game, each is a small preset group of units that have an associated special rule and a set list of other armies they can be taken with.

This was scheduled maintenance for cloudflare during the lowest traffic hour. It's not anything to panic about like last time.
>>
>>97117725
I dont mind as long as its not a preset named unit, which is just slightly less unbearable than named characters.
If we can have a list of "mercenary" units it would be good.
Something like
>Ork flash gitz
>Ork lootas
>Deldar Kabalites
>IG guardsmen
etc etc

Obviously some factions (Tyranids, Necrons) cant be mercenaries, but I think some factions can have a unit or two available (SM squad in a Chaos army implies a recently corrupted squad, or CM with Tau is them doing a false flag/covert job etc etc).
Also if your army has unique characters, you cant have a mercenar unit. Its to avoid Guilliman fighting alongside a squad of Chaos Raptors and Flash Gits.
But Captain Damios of the Dark Angels may be in the cusp of corruption to have these units in his army.

Just a bunch of niggas, I don't want to weight too heavily into what's meta (more tanks for instance) because I know it's the best way to waste money on models I don't really like and I'm not going to play in any tournament.
My goal has always been since I was a kid to play custom Tzeentch-aligned chaos guys, so I'm still trying to make their somewhat dedicated detachment work (Cabal).
For reminder, Cabal allows Daemon Princes to give AP-1 to melee attacks around them, while psykers give +1S to ranged attacks.
So here you have two blocks of shooty legionaries+sorcerer and rubrics, as battleline units they get a healing strat too
Flamer rubrics in rhino
Melee legionaries and Possessed and Prince as melee niggas
Warpsmith turned psyker with a Helbrute in the back
And a block of terminators with a sorcerer in deep strike
So of course you're going to tell me to run each 10guy as 2x5, but I'd have to paint twice the captains and I'm not really fond of the idea.

I always preferred the heresy to be either full mythical, as in heavily redacted/changed over the years into "god casted satan I mean horus into hell with his legions", or letting the traitors be... Traitors. Actual bad guys.

It's frowned upon to write straight up bad guys, people think it's unrealistic, when reality is even stranger/worse than you can think of.

Horus getting corrupted because he was greedy and wanted more power? Thought he could use chaos and got used?
Nah he was good but wounded and corrupted, poor horus :C

Angron can't just be a raging maniac who loves killing, it's not like we had the Age of Strife with technobarbarian a few decades prior.

Lorgar can't just the think the emperor "betrayed" him over things he made up in his head when he was told he was too slow and his religion pointless.

etc.

You can't have all the primarches be empathized/understood AND have half of them betray the emperor and join chaos, it has always been retarded.
And then the cherry on the shitcake is the "all according to plan" bullshit with the emperor they added on top.

>Ok, bro. I think you're a god but I understand the need to rush. We'll build churches later.
I like the idea that the primarchs being galatic conquerers, and so had the ego of galatic conquerers. decades spent seperate from the rest of imperium or meeting the Emperor in person, decades spent being bigger, taller, smarter, faster stronger with absolute authority to everyone they meet. It would corrupt anyone. think of the size of the egos of ancient kings who conquered a few villages and ruled less than a million people who called themselves 'immortal king of the universe' and other silly titles. The primarchs wre this but conquered billions, indriectly ruled trillions, had billions of soldiers as they conquered the galaxy
>Emperor told me to stop building churches but I want to build them so you build them in secret as a side project you enjoy to let off some steam, relax from the complicated nature of leading a crusade fleet, hidden from the Emperor.
>Emperor finds out and burns the planet and makes you kneel to remind you whose in charge

>It would corrupt anyone.
Contrary to popular belief, power does not corrupt, power reveals.
There isn't a causation between power and ego/corruption, greedy/selfish/egomaniacs "love" (crave) power, and so seek it exceedingly more than others.

This is why in History you'll see an enormous amount of corrupt individuals in power, not because of the power itself but because they sought it, at all costs.

>power doesn't corrupt people, people corrupt power
ANon I get your point, power like money can amplify personaility problems already present. I also got your arguements that its power hungry freaks who seek power. HOWEVER we know that being in such a high authuoirty figure and treated like it for long periods of life does alter how your brain works. to the point that merely being referred to by your first name and not a title can take you off balance, seen in police 'interviews' of powerful people to take them off guard and feel less confident. Being a galatic god king conquering the galaxy for CENTURIES would alter who they were before they met the Emperor , however subtle or obvious
Thanks for coming to my TEDx talk

Wrong the coruption comes from being on top and not having any one police you. You are the police. You are the law. Its a lack of stead fast chracter. Only because you can means you should. No matter the means and endresult. Some people are only good as long there is some higher power keeping them in check, once that gone they are unhinged. Thats the coruption that seeps in. Slowly. Even steadfast people that think they are that uncorptble fall for it. You wittnes this crap your self each day if you pay attention. Here you are anonimus, no laws or regulations apply, you write nigger post gore stuff you would not do infront of other people. In the car your safe space you swear like a soiler scream speed and act like a animal, once outside you tame. In your car behind the wheel your god and no one can touch you. In discord teamspeak or what eber your buddys are unhinged animals but when you meet them.in real life most of the time you hear, you act diffrent here.

When your on top you are the consequence. Once you understand that a people you understand the coruption thacomes with power.

There's ego, then there's petulance.
Lorgar got warned multiple times to stop dicking around. If he has ego, which is normal for most primarchs, he would either confront the Emperor about it or rebel then and there.
Him blowing a gasket after being punished is like a kid being mad to finally get his tablet taken away after being told multiple times to turn down the volume.
I'd expect that reaction from a kid, not a worlds conqueror.
Talk about idiocy, Leman Russ blindly following Horus's orders to kill Magnus is truly a shining moment.

>Leman, the Emperor Himself told you to just arrest Magnus. As his personal bodyguard since before you were even conceived, I was there to witness the order.
>But Horus later told me 'nvm bro, the Emperor told me to tell you to murk Magnus'.

A non braindead human would probably check back on the Emperor for the order. I thought BL writers would have a better reason for Horus's trickery (Leman getting hallucinations, Horus impersonating the Emperor, Magnus going berserk and attacking first as the SW arrives peacefully).
But no. These superhumans with centuries of battlefield experience on the galactic scale is as gullible as toddlers.

>>But Horus later told me 'nvm bro, the Emperor told me to tell you to murk Magnus'.
I have never read the HH burning of Prospero stuff. I was under the impression that since it was post Horus being made Warmaster, he is the law. He told Leman to kill magnus and Leman was just a loyal dog who did whatever he was told and Horus was within his rights to order him to do it 'in the emperors name'. I thought the whole event pivoted on the idea of the dangers of following orders unquestiongly even if they are legitimate orders and full legal orders.

>>Sure thing, sir. I understand there are levels to the urgency.
Bro, the reason Morty climbed that mountain when he did was because the Emperor gave him an ultimatum to either finish the liberation of Barbarus immediately or accept being conquered by the Imperium. And he said that when he knew Morty still wasn't ready for it. If he wanted to he could have just killed the overlord and reached out to Morty without waiting. But the entire point of the exercise was to let Morty get his ass kicked so he'd be sworn to surrender himself and Barbarus to the Emperor. And the Emperor admitted this to him. Morty got the impression that the Emperor was an asshole because the Emperor was very clearly being an asshole. But Morty still stayed true to his word and did his job.

Do you think its that simple to hijack an order?
>Horus, I had the order from the Emperor Himself to apprehend Magnus, not kill him. I will need to confirm with the Emperor if the original objective changed.

I prefer the take where Horus and Co are actually not evil at all to start with, and the whole 'Heresy' was genuinely just a civil war on who deserves to rule the galaxy. The Emperor, or the Great General.

It may or may not have spiraled out of control to varying degrees. But it's just been so re-written and mythologized and now it's the heart of a religious belief baked into the legal system of the imperium, there's no way to really know it's not this grand mythology, and no way to question without being immediately crucified for being problematic.

I take it you're new here? Welcome, Newfriend! In any case, let me explain. 10th edition was said to become more simplified, but not simple. However, a lot of the time these "simplifications" have resulted in things becoming less simple, while removing complexity from the game. A good example of this is wargear, where certain loadouts are locked to certain models, and where the datasheets look like complete ass as a result. GW had to give Crisis suits different names to price their wargear correctly, as points per weapon has been removed. Another example is GW adding keywords, but at the same time adding special abilities for every unit, often with the same function as another unit, but with a different name. The list goes on. I'm sure somebody else can help me with other examples. It's shrimplified, not simple

CSM already got their additional detachment. Space marine subfactions already get a glut of detachments and so don't deserve any extras. So what it's actually going to be is:

IG - Grizzled Company
Emperor's Children - Something that somehow makes them worse and also references a unit they can't actually use.
Death Guard - Non-Terminator Characters become Battleline and you're not allowed to take Daemon units.
World Eaters - Masters of Execution become Blood Surgeons with an aura but the rules are terrible and you're not allowed to attach him to units.
Thousand Sons - They get the old 7th Edition Invisibility power
Eldar - You can spend Battle Focus tokens for re-rolls.

It's more the fact that making primaris even bigger is such a weird decision. Marines are already fucking gigantic, even if the models didn't show it. If you're fixing the scale, why go out of your way to make them even bigger with a shitty lore reason? It just comes of as trying to downplay the classic marines.
Same shit happened in AoS. Chaos warriors already towered over regular humans in WHFB so when they made stormcasts (order warriors) they went and made them bigger than chaos warriors for no fucking reason.
>>
>>97119239

>>
>>97119303
Because both chaos warriors and space marines are already upgraded warriors. Doing upgraded warriors +1 comes off as lazy and narcissistic if it doesn't have something to compansate for it which custodes have but neither primaris nor stormcasts do.
>>
>>97119307
You can get rid of that effect by turning on anti aliasing

>Primaris are 8"7'
no, they aren't
>>
>>97119341
It does when it makes one of the existing slots completely redundant. Custodes existing don't make space marines redundant even if they are better in every single way because custodians are even harder to make so they have an even smaller number. Terminator armour doesn't make normal power armour redindant because it's slow and cumbersome as fuck so it fulfills a different niche. A primaris is just a better marine with zero drawbacks so there's no actual logical reason to have anything but primaris.
>>
>>97119341
Bigger batman
>>
>>97119121
That's saying it's less than 8.2
>>
>>97119331
Anti aliasing is just a process to smooth the edge of a rasterized image, in other words, an image that's made out of pixels instead of made out of vectors or in the case of videogames, calculated as 3d points in space. The screen of a 3d printer is made out of pixels so those edges need to be smoothed or they'll come out jagged same as in videogames.
>>
>>97119360
That doesnt make sense though astartes existing doesnt make guardsmen redundant

>That doesnt make sense though astartes existing doesnt make guardsmen redundant
Well yes for the exact same reason as custodes don't make astartes redundant, they are harder to make so you still have a need for guardsmen. If primaris are better than firstborn in everyway and are just as easily made then why would you ever make a firstborn over a primaris? If you could make space marines just as easly as you draft guardsmen then guardsmen wouldn't exist, you'd just make trillions of space marines.

The mortality rate was stated only when Calgar did it and then stated to be reduced when they had more experience it after doing it a few times. And that's just to turn a firstborn into a primaris. That fatality rate doesn't exist when making one from a neophyte so every single neophyte from that point onwards would logically be a primaris because why the fuck would they not?

>>
>People still dont understant that primaris is a models update for Space Marines, and the lore is just a justification for GW to have both models line at the same time as to not liquidate their SM stock overnight.
You guys a bunch of idiots.
>"But why didnt they just do a strict upgrade?!"
If they do that nobody would buy the older marine models, and there's a lot of them in stores and storage collecting dust and taking precious, expensive, storage space.
>Why didnt they just stop producing firstborn kits and sell their remaining stock?
Then nobody would buy firstborn as they know the line is discontinued. Also SM are THE big seller. Losing the profit of firstborn SM sales overnight would fuck the GW stock prices.

They have to do this slowly and gradually. They have to keep selling firstborn kits (without this they would lose money), but have to little by little give more shelf and storag space to primaris.
GW cant afford to either lose money by abruptly stop selling firstborn kits, but nor can they afford to pay for stock for both firstborn and primaris.

So they made a lore of both existing simultaneously so people still buy firstborns.
But they made primaris better in lore so people would buy primars MORE.

>>
>>97119485
>Old astartes arent going anywhere though
In what way? Sometimes there's a creative that keeps it faithful like Astartes or Boltgun and uses a classic mairne but 99% of new books, games, art and 100% of new models are gonna be primaris and at this point there's only 3 classic units left in the codex (not counting terminators or scouts which got faithfully updated thank god). So I'm stuck not being able to enjoy anything new about this setting I love and being told to go play 30k even if I don't want to abandon the setting.

Skitarii pylgrims are great though. They are basic skitarii but with sicarian legs and shotguns. Makes sense to me. Thralls are fine, not sure what people have against them. This guy? I can try a better pic of him later, but he is in fact an old pewter Van Saar dude, one of like 5 minis that didn't get stolen several years ago (I lost everything I had collected since 2nd edition, probably about $5000 worth of pewter at the time, and the reason I stopped playing and painting for a while). So now, that guy, with an old cadian helmet, has been pressed into service with the Guard. The campaign is on an agri-world that fish-farms the 90% ocean, so the air is only nasty and not totally toxic, so the gasmasks are more of a luxury than a necessity.

How are Aspect Shrines organized? Do the Aspect Warriors of different shrines come together under a senior shrine when multiple craftworlds combine forces, or do they operate only with their craftworld's autarch?

The reason I ask is because I'm not sure how to paint up Aspect Warriors. Do they all have the same universal color scheme, or do they customize them and show off the lineage/heritage of their craftworld?

Why did GW have to get rid of cultists for Death Guard and other chaos armies?

I don't understand the issue. Lots of 40k kits can be taken by several armies (spawn, tanks, lords etc). I liked having cultists and see no reason why GW should remove them like this. They also did serve a purpose. They existed to hold objectives while providing small arms fire. Poxwalkers have a purpose too, but it's different. It's not as if cultists are somehow broken or something. They cannot even claim it to be lore reasons and the only Death Guard focused book revolves around the experiences of a captured guard bloke and chaos cultists.

Why wouldn't they be able to maintain a rotary cannon or any other weapon system? Hundreds or thousands of years of muscle memory and hypno indoctrinated training doesn't disappear just because they've gone insane and grown horns. Nevermind the uncountable number of slaves they have. Do you think all the lobotomized servitors on the chaos ships just stop functioning? Its pretty easy to assume chaos marines have plenty of time to lube his weapons up and still have tech priests on their ships. Plus even if a little pin or spring from the feed tray or something gets lost or damaged, the warp could just grow a little daemon in there to take it's place. Orks needing magic to make weapons work takes way more mental gymnastics than chaos using a gun designed 40000 years ago

Few reasons:

>40k is translated to 12 languages, 30k is only in 3
>until very recently 30k was a dozen times more expensive and required FW kits while 40k was sold in 3rd party retail stores (which makes 70% of GW's sales btw)

>The Cosmic Serpent was said to have a unique relationship with Cegorach and his Harlequins, the serpent befriended the Laughing God and freely gave his aid, even allowed him to ride upon his back. The Harlequins name their vehicles for the Serpent's brood, the Weaver Serpents: Starweaver, Voidweaver, and Skyweaver.
Also the namesake of Saim-Hann and the father of the fire dragons. A Harlequin vehicle detachment seems super niche, so I'd guess this is more of a transport detachment buffing those vehicles and the Falcon and Wave Serpent too

>‘Ke,’ he whispered, just loud enough to be heard over her searing torch. ‘There is a matter I wanted to discuss. I saw you eating in the command gallery. Did you steal those rations?’

>Ke’s cheeks warmed. ‘I was hungry.’

>‘Did you not think of the wretched examiner you stole them from? If they would be hungry?’

>Ke wavered. ‘I suppose I didn’t, por’vre.’

>‘I thought as much. If you had, you surely would have offered some.’

>Ke lowered her arm. ‘What?’

>Orr tossed a hand. ‘You would have stolen some for me, too. I happen to like stolen food.’

>‘I wouldn’t have turned it down,’ Jules said.

>‘Who could have?’ Orr said. ‘Sixes, how do you appraise this young engineer’s selfish individualism?’

>By the window, the reflected gold from the street lumens glinted in Swordlight’s helmet lenses. Her helmet link clicked. ‘I only eat stolen food.’

>Ke paused, glancing between them. This was not like when her engineering enclave mocked her. She felt like she had a place in this humour. She simply didn’t know her part. ‘Is this how you jest?’

>‘This is no jest,’ Orr said. ‘This, young Ke, is a matter of grave–’

>‘What is this frivolous discussion?’ Yor’i interrupted. ‘Are you four so idle?’

>Orr softly cleared his throat, the hints of amusement evaporating from his tone. ‘Contrition, mighty one. I was merely expounding the importance of–’

>‘Stealing food?’

>‘My sincerest contrition, exalted one.’

>Yor’i’s breathing sounded on the other end, calm and steady and slower than the decay of stars. Whatever words bred in the ethereal’s mind, he left them unspoken with restive tolerance.

>‘That fool’s wit serves you well,’ Swordlight said to Orr.

I'm so glad the community all decided this guys shit is slop. It's one thing to be a literal trash pile of bits, but the fact that everything is covered in mouldlines, super glue frosting, nubs and gaps is too much. Yes they squatted the kits that people spent 10 years clowning on and then all unanimously agreed that the 3e sculpts were better. But like anything, there's historical revisionists that will tell you they loved the old designs despite owning none. Very similar to the dynamic we have in 40k with firstborn but somehow the likelihood of someone who owns models complaining about nustormcast is even lower than firstbornlets if you can believe it

>They led a genocide across the galaxy and also eradicated all human societies that refused to submit to the Imperium
Also incorrect.

A Great Crusade fact that everyone seems to forget, is that, going by the stats Horus himself provides, 99% of interactions with rediscovered human worlds do not involve any actual combat.
No shots fired, blades unsheathed, anything.
Even then, the 1% exceptions are just as often "we had a firefight in a warehouse my lord" as "we burnt down their entire world".

It's a big part BL's fault for only focusing on Astartes and providing a biased viewpoint, but the Legions weren't actually the biggest players in building the Imperium.
They were critical players, in getting rid of what turned out to be a galaxy of unexpectedly horrific aliens that regular humans would be wiped out by. But the Legions were a specialist organization that came in to attack pre-identified targets most of the time.

They were not explorers. Only a handful were diplomats. When the bitter, jaded marine sergeant makes remarks about how "All the Crusade does, is crush worlds and kill civilizations that don't bow and scrape before our boots.", it is objectively fucking untrue. It's an unreliable narrator who's not bothered, or is unwilling, to look outside his own very narrow pond and see that, while he deals in death a lot, the events in his life are so irregular to normal events, that they're statistically insignificant.

This. I actually tolerate Sigmarines more now since they stopped being the obvious protagonists of the setting.
Vampires, dwarfs, chaos worshippers, elves take as much screen time as stormcasts.
Sure, they are on the covers and are the face faction. But their weird immortality kinda allows them to get their ass beat quite often.
Even the Celestant Prime, wielding THE Warhammer, got his ass beat and killed in pic rel.

Stormcast are closer to the Chaos Warriors in terms of narrative and story. They're both chosen/ascended for their heroic actions in life. Where they differ is that Chaos Warriors live a mortal life on a metaphysical path to glory, a sort of journey while they walk in the path of chaos. Living in truth with the very forces of the cosmos. Sigmarites on the other hand are continually drained of their stuff of life until they have none. Every time they're defeated, they're recalled and lose themselves a little more. Becoming like a Hollow from Dark Souls, for example. None of this is like the space marines, post-human supersoldiers that were modified after birth by techno-magic and brainwashed into a playing piece for a space wizard's grand game against the universe itself. And anyway, every bit of design philosophy that the Stormcast have inherited from Space Marines, the Marines first got them from the Chaos Warriors. Everything you love about Warhammer, you owe to the Chaos Warrior, Games Workshop's own perfect creation.

Console war faggotry. Tribalism. A lot of people are also exclusively into fantasy or scifi and not both. This leads to people feeling the need to defend their tastes, and the easiest way to do that without saying anything constructive/admitting it's not to your taste is to simply state "X is bad" or "only (people I don't like) play X". You used to see it in video games with the whole Sega vs Nintendo beef. But people do the same about anything, like trying and have a 100% truthful conversation with a stranger about domestic beer, or coffee shops, or clothing, or music, or literally everything where there are multiple stances to take. It's easier to call the other guy a gay retard than it is to try and understand why he likes something from his perspective

Shouldn't you be buying one of the tk and bretonnia boxes that are still shelf warming so gw doesn't kill the game you don't play again

I also really like the Sylvaneth. But I think if I went with an order army at this point, I want to wait and see how Cities of Sigmar shakes out with the elves/dwarves/humans in the same urban fantasy faction. If they continue the elves and dwarves in cities, I will probably pick them up. Their cannons are my favorite artillery pieces out of the setting.

The Ghyran campaign book is so cool, by the way. With custom faction terrain and custom regiments of renown.

Hey now, don't be mean to ToW. That will be a source of new Chaos Warrior projects for me. I want to get my 2026 CW refresh so I can paint more of my favorite models.
