Following your Dao is a way to grow in general so a technique that capitalizes on that doesn't sound out of place. How strong it is would depend on a combination of the benefit and how easy it is to do. If just wandering around and helping grannies cross the street counts as justice and makes you grow it's a common rank. If you need to topple evil kings to grow it's heaven rank. Of course one would be slow and steady while the other would give big boosts and probably also a lot of secondary benefits in exchange for being hard to do. I think being a general vigilante type characetrs and beating bandits would fit being earth rank, with the greater the evil you beat the more you grow.

The other kind of karma bonus is also on the table if you want something more subtle, the more you do good deeds and act like a hero the luckier you get. It could also have drawbacks if you start acting evil or immoral and even more bonuses. A danger sense but for others so you know where you are needed for some utility, or maybe being able to travel long distances without tiring. If you wanna go defensive then being unable to die as long as you have something to protect or the ability to teleport to the side of someone that is about to be attacked. These all feel fitting, and depending on the degree of intensity of each one I think it makes sense to have at least a couple.

As I'm going for more wuxia than xianxia character (who nevertheless will have to function in the xianxia world after), I'd rather avoid too obviously supernatural elements, so teleporting might be a bit too far. I already have a luck factor as defensive treasure effect, because it makes it so that attacks are more likely to strike the parts covered by the armor rather than those unprotected (partially because the faceclaim I found lacks a helmet and some of the arm protection). Tje tiring effect os partially covered by my movement technique and pseudo treasure vessel (although that one I've made clearly supernatural now that I think about it so I might change it still...). The drawback karma variant might not quite fit, because I wanted one top-tier heavenly treasure as a McGuffing for the cultists, and I've made it one that protects from attacks on the soul, and the bad karma causing him to weaken sounds like something that might get interfered by that. Im also not sure how often the bad karma would even come up.

If you have proportional gains based on the danger/evil you face then it would be very top tier Yellow to middle tier Earth rank, you can make it work as both. It's technically secret hours time.I've been wondering, since PMD has been tried repeatedly, what would a pokemon mp play like? By that I mean playing as pokemon trainers, either traveling from place to place and battling whenever we meet, or settling down in town as a gym leader or starting a business and being visited by random adventurers from across the lands.

>>97130413I don't think a pokemon MP would work. It's esentially a setting where you have to make 7 characters or more and they keep increasing as time goes on. Pokemon are not just fighting animals, they have full on personalities as has been proven many times, managing at least 6 NPCs each is way to much of a mess to work properly. It could be somewhat mitigated by having some people play the pokemon, but then we run into the Fate issue, and pokemon have less agency unless we all make a bunch of Ash's Pikachu likes.

Second, that changes nothing, starting with 2-4 NPCs to manage and adding more later is the same as starting with 6, you still have a lot of stuff to manage.
