You need evasion and anthems to make Markov hold his own (which thankfully vamps have a fair amount of) but if you're not filling out the deck with the better (and more expensive) vamps and Mardu tools, you're going to have a small board of a dozen or so trash pieces that will struggle to do chip damage.
