I think the southern chaos wastes offer a wonderful canvas and can be made to be way more interesting than just being the same as the northern chaos wastes, but with no human presence and no invasions ever coming from there.

Maybe a corner of Osterland? In fact, let's axe everything outside of the Empire and some of those minor human realms. Everything needs to take place in the protagonists' lands.
(I'll concur with >>97136233, that looks like a great place for a campaign. Worst case scenario one can give it Kenshi vibes outside of the chaos midget areas)

The Drakwald could make for a good campaign book. It has obvious hooks for multiple factions, forest-fighting is an interesting alternative way to play, and it's vague enough that you can probably justify any faction being there.
Also has 4 easy AoIs:
> Middenland/Cult of Ulric
> Drakwald Beastmen
> Black Pit Forest Goblins
> Eonir Wood Elves

>Isn't that place filled with beastmen?
Yes and no, since there were no humans when the catastrophe happened, they are not really a mixture between man and beast, but rather beast and demon
somehow

and also there was the funny incident in one of archaon's books where the mutants he encountered mutated from a bestial look to a more humanoid look, the further they were mutated, contrary to how stuff usually is with humans mutating towards bestial looks.

But as far as I know, despite the misconception of that being a gimmick of mutants in the south wastes, it was actually a weird effect of traveling through the southern portal to reach the northern one.
But even if it's not canon, it's an entertainingly uncanny thing to implement.

kinda the opposite it's a large buy-in at the start but single model characters are pretty cheap at least in TOW, AoS and 40k it's a bit different
>>

>>97136745
Its a special unit from the beastmen arcane journal called a wild herd brought back from 6th edition.

In the lore they are the most fanatical beastmen, think they are the savage orcs to the bestigors black orcs, and on the tabletop half gor and half ungor gives them benefits from both eg the frenzy from Gors and Ambush from Ungors. Fun unit but unless you run a specific army of infamy does not count as a core unit for your list.

How come? I'm one of the guys that complains about the state troop sculpts a lot, but I love the knights (and the archers). Some of the faces are a bit wacky, but if you use the regular closed helmets with the feathers you can paint some gorgeous miniatures.

>>97136721
Nothing from GW is cheap anon. The army boxes actually tend to be alright for most races in that they offer most of the regular units you really need + one or two 'vehicles' (steam tanks, gyros, chariots). Heroes are overly expensive for just one model. Depending on the army you can use proxies from other companies. The Empire and Bretonnia both got lots of non-GW options as several producers jumped into the gap that GW left + high medieval knights and 16th century Germans are popular unto themselves.

The horses just look old and derpy next to any more recent GW horse sculpt - whether its the horses pulling the war wagon / war altar, empire general, bret horses, or even just the (now) older chaos marauder horsemen ones, and especially against the new cathay lancers

The riders are also very old and you can tell immediately when they're next to any other horses
>>
>>97136837
>you can tell immediately when they're next to any other horses

I meant next to demigryph knights
>>
>>97136765

Cheapest option is to print. The problem with so many ranges being so old is that third party models are actually better than the official ones and have a coherent aesthetic because they weren't sculpted over literally decades.
Highlands Miniatures do most TOW ranges and only lack Chaos and Beasts. Avatars of War do a spectacular range of greenskins.

For GW minis? Probably Chaos warriors, decent 2nd hand market, good conversion potential for some units (forsaken, chosen, etc), very high individual points cost. 3D printing makes the question a little moot though, especially with ranges like Highlander minis or Fabazel etc that put out wonderful sculpts.

Looks like the sword is on top. As for what they can do, well, I think the swordsman could try a slicing cut towards the orc's neck or hands. Probably while stepping back out, being that close to someone with arms about as thick as your torso likely isn't the best idea. The orc meanwhile doesn’t seem to have a whole lot of options to really block anything done by the sword here with his axe, so trying to grab the sword's guard or the man's arm instead, or depending on the timing simply pre-empt it all and with a tackle, grab or smashing the swordsman in the face with his right fist.
If the axe is on top then the sword poses little immediate risk to the orc, so leave at least one hand on the axe to keep things that way for the next few moments while going fort punching/kicking/tackling/grabbing/headbutting.
>>
Ok so we want to introduce one of our friends to old world. He's been a 40k player for a long time but recently sold most of his minis because the game is apparently a mess. He was a skaven player back in 6th. So we want to get him aos skaven models for TOW. What would be the best option?
>christmas box
>half skaventide
>start collecting (or whatever it's now called)

I know my local only bothered to get tomb king skeletons and cav, high elf infantry, and night goblins and only the core rule book. A lot being online only probably isn’t helping, but stores seem to have bad habits in terms of good ideas on what they should stock.

>They trust everyone aside from the Warhammer players apparently
That's funny, here the only stuff locked up is singles in display cases and then booster boxes for TCG's (locked up as kept somewhere in the back). Never heard of a Warhammer heist done in my city. People keep stealing cards tho, this one poor LGS in my city has been hit 11 times since September lmao

CM Games has/had the second best stock for GW shit and paints, but they just discontinued their TOW stock. basically their whole SGS section, really.

For all I know it might also be risk assessment by the store.
Sure a big RC. Kit might cost a few hundred to a grand or more and a big historical kit might cost over a hundred bucks.
But that’s not something you slide into a coat pocket. Compared to a single character box, a ten man squad, or a randomly valuable part of a kit which might cost the store less, but if it cost the store a decent bit to actually stock those items and they are easy to steal I could see it beign preemptive

Fellow beastbro you will tell me where that middle shield is from right now or by Allah I will sneak into your house and clip it off your little goat mans arm

I'm convinced it's two or three guys astroturfing them, beastmen have always been the redheaded step child of chaos.
>>
You only see a couple of different beastman paint styles so it's definitely just a couple of goons having a laugh. Either way if GW ever decides to nerf the Viletide + Hagtree Fetish interaction we'll go back to the normal levels of one Beastman player per continent.
>>
>>97138429
They wouldn't really need to nerf Viletide + Hagtree Fetish, they'd just need to nerf the monsters it takes out.

That combo still deletes elite cav and infantry.

>/wfg/ convinced themselves fimir were coming in 2025
They're coming to 40k in 2029
>>
>>97138657
Wouldn't that just be Gensetealer Cults
>>
>>97138657
Space fimir would be fun as fuck
>>
Fimir are never coming back. Too much controversy which makes no fucking sense in a setting that has goddamn Slaneesh and Beastmen but for some reason Fimir really fucking trigger people.
>>
>>97138630
List from that rumor was so fucking kino.
Thats how you know it was false - gw would never put such effort into their product.
>>
>>97138708
Yeah it is weird that Fimir, an army that had implied rape in one sentence back in 1992 is considered untouchable but in 40k they have an army whose entire thing is "We take over planets with rape." (Genestealer Cults)
>>
>>97138727
It's the fact people get triggered over rape in general in fucking Warhammer, a setting based on brutal grimdark violence. Like what the fuck is Slaneesh doing when it takes over cities? Having tea parties?
Fimir being weird rape hive monsters is their thing. It's terrifying, it's dark as fuck, it's what makes them interesting and not just another set of Beastmen/Orcs.
>>
>>97138429
Yeah we need green furred beastmen that would be rad.
