>>97164111You could argue FF beats Tarkir because it didn’t introduce any new mechanics to the game (out of curiosity when was the last time a main set did this?) and it was a very fun set, but it is UB. Tarkir is still a very good plane and Dragonstorm was a great set except for Abzan fans so I agree this is objectively correct.

The only reason FF girls are pretty is because Squenix held a gun to the back of Hasbro and WotC’s head and wouldn’t have hesitated to pull the trigger if the artists even dared to make the characters different without their express approval.

Bernard is probably the best card in the game with so many different ways to build him. I took a different route than all the other decks I've seen and the goal is mostly to spam tokens. Winning is a secondary goal that would probably only happen from someone letting Biovisionary hit the table. Main goal is just to make cookie tokens and as many as I can. If anyone has any suggestions I am open to them as the entire 99 of the deck is proxy made. As I won't spend all that money on a goofy deck where I use a cookie trays a play mat.

>>97164434"we get to choose how you depict our characters" seems like a pretty standard baseline for a contract dude. It's just that for a few of the UW IPs, the owners either don't care as long as they're getting paid (LotR, sadly) or or actively in favor of "the message" (Dr Who)And we KNOW that the other company is the one who ultimately calls the shots since Konami put the kibosh on the monster hunter secret lair that was supposed to be coming soon and forced WotC to go back to the drawing board.

>>97165288The real limitation is "instant or sorcery" only. People doing graveyard things don't like that stifling. So instead they play Muldrotha, because Muldrotha is far more free.
We had a silly end to our game this week. I was playing Velomachus focused on boardwipes, and I was facing off against an Isshin, Torbran, and Narfi, who had a lot of effects that forced the sacrifice of permanents e.g. Smokestack, so between he and I not much stayed on board for long. After about an hour and a half, Narfi and I were both at 3 life, he had a decent number of lands whilst I had a couple and some treasures, and the other two had basically no permanents. I had nothing useful in my hand and was ready to concede, but I topdecked a slagstorm and cast it, killing both myself and the Narfi player, so the match was then between two people with almost nothing going on between them. The Torbran player won in the end, the Isshin player didn't get enough land drops to do anything meaningful.
>>97166045Kess it gives you only one spell per round while Emet gives 4
>>97165001CONSUME
>>97165065This is a Sigarda lite, nice grabbing it for my enchantment deck
>>97166078In order to do that, you have to reliably get your opponents to lose life, which requires either additional setup on your part to proactively engage, or your opponents forgetting your board state.Think of it this way. With Kess, if she survives a rotation, I can double-up on my Demonic Tutor immediately for the price of a Diabolical. Before my combat starts, I am threatening to end the game on the spot. If the first one is countered, I can recast it for no additional setup and pivot my gameplan, so often my opponents will just hold up the counter for whatever I tutor for, which I prefer since it allows me time to accumulate my own counters since the game is now on my pace (especially since, and this is a huge one, if I want I can double-up a counterspell on a later turn). The only chance they have to kill Kess and disrupt me after I cast D-tutor is while D-tutor is on the stack. (If that fails, I can always just play Underworld Breach.)With Emet, if I cast a D-tutor, the state is similar, except your opponents have a bigger window to disrupt it. In order to use the effect, you're either investing an additional card to force a lifeloss, or you're betting on one of your creatures connecting (presumably one of the other ones, since he lacks evasion). This gives your opponents a huge window to respond to your coordinated gameplan, and if they counter your D-tutor, then you're not even guaranteed a cast!I'm not saying he's bad. I'm saying that the setup required is limiting when there's other commanders that immediately let you get a cast with more potential flexibility.
>>97165885If it wasn't for the farting dude sounds like a cool guy. Im in Utah and play with Mormon's often, buncha pussys
>>97164350Extremely based
>>97166201Yeah I got what you're saying for sure. He certainly requires more setup than less and you have to shift your deck to build around it. I guess I see the potential in Emet more because of what you gainThe discount is nice of course but I'm really intrigued by the timing window allowing you to board wipe on your opponent's turns for example Everything you said is valid though and definitely things to take into concern when building the deck. He's definitely more interruptible than Kess. I think the way I'm viewing it is that Emet has a higher floor but also a higher ceiling
>>97166306I don't know if he has a higher ceiling based entirely on him lacking access to red. There's also the other thing where if his effect is procing every turn for a rotation, you both have spells in your graveyard and your opponents are consistently losing life, which signals a win-more state to me.He's still interesting, though, and I'll probably pick up one to slot in the 99 for one of my decks.I would be a dickhead with him, if I were running him at the helm, and make the deck about cloning Orcish Bowmasters or some other punishment creature instead of toolbox.
>>97166360>>97166306Having said that, I do now kind of want to brew a Pox/Stax-lite build with him since, even though he seems too unreliable for a spellslinger/toolbox, there are a lot of pox/edict effects that I don't necessarily care about doubling-up on and don't warrant an immediate answer, but would be annoying for the table to deal with on their turn, and since incremental lifeloss would be the gameplan I wouldn't need to have too much of the deck's focus shift to turning itself online.

>>97166958>>97166962For far too long, fantasy, as a genre, was used as a way to reflect the worldview of those in power. It leaned into stereotype and reflected how the privileged wished the world was. Modern fantasy is more reflective of the actual world, which includes the wide variety of life experiences that exists. Trans people, people of color, and women playing a larger role, are all part of modern fantasy because they’re all part of the actual world, and it’s important that wotc's stories and world building be reflective of that. >i want to return to a time where we could ignore the existence of certain elements because I was happy living in that ignorance!!Not an excuse to deny real people and their real life experiences. Entertainment is at its best when it lifts everyone up and isn’t used as yet another means to ignore certain people’s reality.

If everything goes right with Emet, you used a spell, your opponents lost life, and you got two turns out of it. Great! Same "one additional card" clause with Kess, though, and we cast Increasing Vengeance on Temporal Manipulation. I get four turns out of that (because I'm sure as Hell going to cast Temporal Manipulation from my graveyard on one of those turns). When determining a card's color identity, cards with hybrid mana symbols are treated as having multiple color identities, one for each color of mana represented by a hybrid symbol. During deckbuilding, only a single color identity need be considered in determining what cards can be in a deck with a certain commander. The other color identities are treated as though they didn’t exist.>(The rule on commander color identity in the absence of a commander, which was previously rule 903.4f, is moved to 903.4g)>903.5e. If hybrid mana symbols appear in your commander's mana cost or rules text, any rule or effect that refers to your commander’s color identity refers to all of its combined color identities. >playing with randos at lgs last night>guy 1 super quiet and was like a a slow computer only thinking on his own turn>his turn would come around, he'd sit in silence pondering, tapping some cards for a few minutes then act it out super quick barely explaining as he goes>I countered a spell of his and he froze for 30 sec thinking before letting it resolve>guy 2 took 10min turns playing solitaire and a million triggers>I had no idea what he was up to and could also barely hear him since he was on opposite corner from me in a loud room, just kinda went with it>guy 3 was chill, was returning player although I was playing Vren where all creatures go to exile instead of graveyard. He just put all his creatures in the graveyard and was recurring them. I asked about which creatures where exiled when Vren was on the field and he wasn't sure what was meant to be anywhere but it's not a biggie. Also remembered I had Dauthi Voidwalker on the field for a while and everyone put all their stuff in a separate pile for it but it got killed off and guy 2 just played that shit like it was his graveyard

>>97166723This deck isn't even optimized at all and just suddenly kills everyone because "lol I cast meltdown for 0 while having 20 artifacts out" and shit. >>97169827>basic>not basic
>>97169800How is it described? In detail or no?
Should there be a one mana of any color symbol and a commander color identity mana symbol
>>97169722>Whenever a noncreature artifact is sacrificed or destroyedThis whole time I thought Jaws was just whenever an artifact is sacrificed. Completely forgot he's also counting destroyed. I heard that putting a commander in a hidden zone (hand, library) has different rules from public zones (graveyard, exile) that make stickers persist if you put them into the command zone, is that true?
>5 costLiterally unplayable
>>97169942I thought stickers just always stayed on? I can't say I ever read up on them
>>97169469We will get another D&D set eventually. Hopefully they are in there.
>>97169066Impressive. Very nice.

>create saga creatures >create perfect commander for them>include numerous alt art treatments for the creatures and commander including an expensive holiday box card>make 12 total saga creatures the commander can use so you can't even build a full deck with them Wizards are so retarded
>>97169844>Should there be a one mana of any color symbolI've legitimately have wanted this for like 20+ years. Eldrazi have the colorless mana symbol, we need a "can only be paid with colored mana" symbol
I want to build a deck around this. What commander?Xavier Sal comes to find first
>>97170024This won't happen, by the way
>>97170078These are your only choices, unless you wanna go with a generic "tokens" commander
>>97170088None of these are green man.,
>>97170065There are SO FUCKING MANY "specifically geared for a very niche idea" commanders that don't have the correct/not enough colors, so they can only be played in the 99. I fucking hate the design decisions they make so much
>>97170095Yep. Exactly. Welcome to skeletons, been like this for almost 30 years
>>97170078none sadly
>>97170078>can't even cheese it with token doublersThe pain never ends, skelebros
>>97170125Did you forget doubling season and Parallel Lives exists?
>>97170065I still like this better than the other yuna with the focus on enchantment creatures from duskmourn
>>97170078Xavier would probably bet the best at the moment yes since populate is the closest to more skeletons please that there is right now while hitting MOST of the colors for all skeleton cards other than the rare few red ones.
>>97170138Can those be your fucking commander, you dipshit?
>>97170078Xavier does feel like the most likely option. He's got the populate thing to make more skeletons and sacrificing for his effect means more skeletons as well. He's also a pirate and there's a couple skeleton pirates so that's fitting. Skullbriar feels in spirit but he's a zombie which detracts a bit.

>>97166730>Unless I drop it as a final push for gameThis is only real reason I will drop it onto my board. Although I have had four games where I’ve dropped it turn 1 or turn 2 with mana dorks which I can then use to get out Captain Sisay (if she’s the Commander and not Karametra) and/or other creatures. Being that early in the game where everyone is still building up it can really help with getting me ahead.
I want to apologize to my podI won because I rite of rep'd a sun titan but it was only an hour after I left the store that it had a SOFI on it under that massive pile of equipment and aurasI also want to apologize for locking out the table with zur's weirding lol I didn't realize it would be that oppressive
>>97170065You can still make a pretty good enchantress deck with Yuna if you include cards like the Theros gods, Constellation creatures, all useable Saga creatures, etc.
>>97170327I do not wish to apologise to my friends when one of them played their Breya deck and dropped Mycosynth Lattice, then I followed up with Karn, the Great Creator and locked the table out of the game. One of my four friends and I thought it was hilarious.
>>97170203Yuriko is a solved deck my man. There's nothing left to optimize.
>>97170336>>97170169Yeah I wound up padding her out with enchantment creatures, which again there's only a hundred or so to choose from in WG with most being hot garbage so my choices were all basically made for me.I just don't get why they insisted on pushing her when you can't (yet) make even a 20 saga creature deck with her yet. We better not have to wait to next year or whenever the fuck they release the new FF set to get some more summons.
>>97170203This reminds me yet again of WotC's dumbassery>completely rework/errata companions TWICE>yuriko hasn't been errata'd even though they said Commander ninjutsu was a mistake
>>97170360what about zero rare or game changer yuriko
>>97168482Because why not?
>>97170415heterosexuality
>>97170387They could make commander ninjutsu require paying command tax and she would still be extremely strong.
>>97170464Nta butHonestly I'm shocked they haven't done that. I built her before I even realized that she dodged the tax because she's the best ninja Commander by far. What I really think they should have done is erattad all ninjutsu to work from the command zone but have it be subject to the tax. That fixes not only yuriko but the other commanders with ninjutsu too
>>97170386Sorry man but this version is just better. Works even better with stuff like the ozolith and works great with the summons
>>97170490I just hate 3 color slop decks so much, especially when an entire color is so hard to justify. Why do I need blue when the vast majority of counter support is Selesnya. She doesn't even do thing draw card. Gavin and co just use 3 color/wurbg sloppa as an excuse not to make better cards for individual colors and to keep game fundamentals like efficient draw and ramp trapped in their precious Simic.
>>97170386I think WotC were thinking that she’d be more of a normal format creature. I gave Arena a spin when FF came out and to see if my opinion of 1v1 Magic had changed (it didn’t; it still sucks), but I did come up against a few decks wheee the strategy seemed to be dumping the FF Saga Creatures like Bahamut, Knights of the Round, etc. into the grave, then dropping her and getting them back for free. Think this idea also caught on for RL for a time as from my Bundle and the pre-release I pulled 3 Yunas (2 extended art, one normal) and a work buddy bought them off of me for $100 dollarydoos because he wanted to use them in his standard deck. Nonetheless, I don’t think FF will be the last time we see Saga Creatures.

Still I wouldn't have complained if she was simply Selesnya
>>97170685He made a factually incorrect statement.
>>97170697The majority of counter support IS in selesnya. The existence of graft doesn't contradict that at all.
>>97170703Simic is right behind it
>>97170703>The majority of counter support IS in selesnya. Not by much. I don't know why anon is complaining about 3c slop when you can play a 3c counter deck that has just as much synergy as a 2c one without getting into random generic goodstuff.
