>Thread Question
Has Christmas/the holiday season ever played a role in your game? (beyond just taking place around the timeframe)
>>
>>97239803
I've actually never really had a holiday episode in any ttrpg, not just WoD. I wouldn't really know how to work that into a plot or a one shot.
>>
>>97239803
>Has Christmas/the holiday season ever played a role in your game? (beyond just taking place around the timeframe)
Not in WoD, no. The longest chronicle I played in ran for over 90 sessions; but we only got through a couple of in-game days per session, so we only got through the spring and summer. Malifaux and Dark Heresy are the only campaigns I can think of where we had distinctly Christmas-themed stories.

I'm not someone big into Mage so I must ask: How do the different traditions interact even in the same player group? Don't their paradigms contradict each other and accrue paradox or is that decided merely by sleeper consensus? Do they all somewhat hate and mistrust each other as much as the kindred clans? I can't see a Celestial Chorister caring much for the Verbena's crystals and voodoo nonsense, or an Etherite what those cooky religious wackos are cooking in the face of Enlightened Science and Progress.
>>
>>97240113
>I think you're fucking insane but you do somehow wield magic despite that, and the men in black are trying to kill you just like they're trying to kill me, so let's work together? Enemy of my enemy and so on. Just don't try and convince me to do any of your healing crystal bullshit, or I'll punch you in the fucking nose.
>>
>>97240113
Reality is determined by the consensus, not much else matters. They mostly think the other traditions are ignorant idiots, and they're all just working together to not get smashed in by BIG SCIENCE. Even in the event that they win, the traditions are all planning on going to war with each other when they feel comfortable enough.

But this the general sentiment. People are individuals outside of their magical allegiances, and with magic being personal and unique in the first place, the idea of "factions" only extends as far as a mage can spread their ideas to the naïve or free-minded.

Like, for example. If a Dreamspeaker communes with the spirit world, a Chorister assumes they are simply praying to the One without realising it. If an Ecstatic enters a state of magical high, a Dreamspeaker assumes they are touching the periphery.
>>
>>97240113
Even in canon there's infighting and animosity between the traditions, they're bound together mostly by a shared enemy. For your examples, the chorister might assume the verbena is blessed by the one, god works in mysterious ways. The etherite might believe that those mages are somehow harnessing ether through primitive or undiscovered methods, it's not like scientists know everything about the universe.
>>
>>97240113
>How do the different traditions interact even in the same player group?
Depends on individual dynamics. Some are brought together by circumstances, but joined through common goals, genuine friendship, etc.
>Don't their paradigms contradict each other and accrue paradox or is that decided merely by sleeper consensus?
It's only decided by sleeper consensus. HOWEVER, some areas have different consensus. For example, you can get away with having a laser gun be coincidental in an advanced scientific facility but not in a backwards village that doesn't even have electricity. Meanwhile, dancing to make the spirit of Father Thunder strike your enemies can be a lot more accepted over there than in the mentioned lab.
Clashing paradigms only really matter mechanically when Mages try to use each other's tools and only when they're beyond instinctive. For example, if a Verbena knows what a gun is he shouldn't have a problem firing the Etherite's raygun. Meanwhile, a Virtual Adept may have a much harder time learning how to use Dreamspeaker talismans. That said, they can definitely learn and there's merits to do this easier.
Stereotypically? Sometimes, yeah. But mixed cabals can also be very strongly knit units that understand how their differences make them stronger. Specially when there's some points of agreement.
A Christian Chorister would probably give a pagan Verbena the side-eye. But a pagan, thelemite, luciferian or even hare krishna Chorister? They'd be a lot more chill. And Etherites have "occult scientists" that dedicate their lives to understanding the magick of other traditions and even learn how to integrate it into their weird science (there's a merit for this).
>>
>>97240239
>>97240113
I find the implication hilarious that the nanosecond one Tradition is moderately bigger than the others, they'll just replace the technocracy and the technocracy will become part of the traditions instead as a gay pro-consensus faction by necessity. Or maybe they just stay independent.

In my medieval sorcerer game playtesting a custom nWoD Sorcerer template, for the people (like my group) that don't like Mage but want a proper full template for mortal magic users. we had an arc set during Christmas. The PCs were wintering in an NPC ally's hometown, right after a wyrmish rite had blighted that year's harvest. Our intrepid wizards had to stave off a full-blown outbreak of bane possession with limited knowledge and keep the town from literally eating itself. It culminated with a battle against the fomoricized parish priest at midnight mass.

>>
Isn’t there a hypothetical consensus that can allow for all consensuses? Even if it’s contradictory you can just hide out in your isolated paradigm bubble?

I find mages weird when they aren’t being as scientific as they could. The hermetics are more scientific than the union for the simple reason that they turned pillars into spheres, and there is -always- going to be a successor theory to look forward to.

So, if spheres came after pillars, what will come after spheres?

>>97241289
This is starting to sound like Marauder talk. Surely, you aren't this schizophrenic are you? You can't have magic (lack of logical rules for reality) and science (exploitation of logical rules for reality) at the same time?
>What comes after spheres?
If a cylinder(pillar) is comprised of stacked spheres, then logically the main shape that makes up a bunch of spheres is actually many different rectangular cuttings stacked on and by each other's sides.
All these squares do make a circle after all.
The magic Squares should be the concepts behind the concepts.

Hunter doesn't have the high level stuff we want for mortal mages. Deviant is a different flavor entirely IMO and its powers don't follow traditional "magic" conventions. I also wasn't a fan of second sight's magic as merits thing.

Basically I started with HtV Witchfinders as the basis. Then I made Gnosis an actual 1-10 power stat following the standard rubric rather than a merit. Waived the Gnosis rec for certain mysteries, then backported some Paths from oWoD Sorcerer like Summoning and Binding. Then, because Mysteries can be a little too narrow, I worked out a devotion-like system for combo spells. PCs can come up with their own and in fact should, you want your magic to be customizable. Lastly, the big problem with Witch Finders is almost everything is an instant action, so witches ain't great in a pinch. My idea was that Sorcerers should be the kings of power flexibility, while still being mortal in many ways. I baked in metamagic-like stuff to the template, letting you spend extra source to modify the spell when you cast it, such as quicker casting, longer durations, more dice for overwhelming large resistance pools, etc. More oomph if you need it at the risk of burning out quick. Rituals are similar to VtR rituals but without a mandatory sacrifice, have over 5 dot rituals (prereq is Occult + Gnosis). Generally have longer lasting or further reaching effects for cheaper at the cost of slower cast time. Sorcs can cast rituals together and even benefit from non-sorcerer assistants if you wanna go cult leader. Made magical item creation rules including that for constructs. Since I'm also the VtM to VtR2e translation guy it's fairly easy to convert the not explictly vampire-y blood magic over. Was a fun game.

Can't criticize too hard because my table runs an extremely homebrew table. Vampire is mostly oWoD but little to none of the Revised Metaplot made it in, and with several dashes of Requiem thrown in to boot. Not really the primary stuff like covenants, but the peripherals like Larvae, Pseudovampires, that stuff. Also no Kuei-Jin. Not racist just don't like em.

But I gotta admit, I've never seen a V5 plot beat I liked at all, let alone enough to use.

NTA but I like some of the stuff they did with the Coalition. I think Chronicles did the lodges better but I like that humanity actually got its shit together on at least a regional basis.

Plus when you remember that WoD is a ridiculous sci-fi setting with vampires taped on as the only thing not part of it, it's nice to have people besides Pentex and Mages to throw at your players that are 'dudes with equipment/powers that shoudn't exist'. Shovelheads aren't scary, but Shovelhead Spetnsnaz might give your Coterie some pause.
>>
>>97241694
That's fair. It hasn't really affected our story too much, another Lasombra became Aino's bf and he was Sabbat. Asides from that Finland is pretty minor for vamps asides the Gangrel and Aino does her best to staybin their good books. She's not a big fan of Helsinki's prince but he's a Ventrue so that's a given

That's not Tzimisce behavior. Tzimisce behavior is turning the hoes into pocket pussies against their will. It does make me curious though, there's nothing really stopping Vampires from learning hedge magic right? And I know Tzimisce have Koldunic sorcery too. You don't need to be a magiclet unless you want to be.

>NTA but I like some of the stuff they did with the Coalition.
I won't post my full anti-SI screed because it's Christmas, but they're actually my least favorite thing in V5.

On its own, I would agree that humans should be genuine threats in a VtM game. Problem is I can't stand how they did it with the SI. They homogenized everyone, have crazy plot armor, fetishize the intelligence community (which is nowhere near that competent), and just make the vampires look retarded. I'm a vigilfah through and through, that game does threatening hunter groups right. SI is a tour de force in how to do them wrong.

I would also disagree with "WoD is a ridiculous sci fi setting with vampires taped on" because I don't like most of oWoD outside of vampire so that doesn't apply to my table. I'm fine with reasonable hypertech like what TF:V has, the SI takes it into dumbass territory.

>>
>>97241832
There's a few Blood Sorcery paths outside of the Tremere's but most of them are from Dark Ages, so using them in Modern Nights (Or other eras after DA) would need your Kindred to learn it from somewhere. Lasombra just have it easy in that regard.
>>
>>97241868
Don't let the Tremere know, they're contentious people.

For the combat people in world of darkness I have a question from lack of perspective. How much stamina do you need to survive in combat?

For example, as a werewolf you can regenerate health level per round if you're lucky. Vampires can get extra soak with fortitude. Mages can buff with enough time or spheres. The other splats are niche enough they have a benefit as well.

So how much soak you need in general to just survive most combats without getting flatten. I know offense seems to be better than defense.
>>
>>97241721
>NTA but I like some of the stuff they did with the Coalition.
Bro, they're a generic blob of different spooks, literally anti-sovl. They took Project Twilight and downgraded it in terms of actually making sense.
>Sure man, the CIA is going to work hand-in-hand with the FSB and maybe the vatican will suddenly share it's literal decades of secrets. We're gonna make sure they all look the same and we'll give them infinite resources, manpower and perfect intel
>>
>>97242359
Probably a question of killing before you get killed and ambushing, but likely around 3 I suppose? You probably don't want to take fights with a 1 stamina PC
>>
>>97242359
Ambush. Best to drop your opponent before they get to swing. Prep time is a literal superpower
>>
>>97242338
How does a Necromancer get a Tzimisce's castle?

>>97242060
No. That's like asking if The Kiss is cheating or if bloodbuff is cheating.

Sex is more than just physical pleasure though. It's why most people seek out romantic connection rather than just serially fuck for pleasure. Passionless sex feels good, but it's not the end all be all. Passionate sex with a real emotional bond behind it on the other hand is something else entirely; it's not surprising how sometimes it is likened to magic or the divine. Put another way, no physical sensation can quite be equal to or greater than true lovemaking. Which is why the low humanity Methuselah Helena was hopping on the same dick for over 4000 years without complaint.

That and let's be honest, there was never a consistent line on vampire sex. Some writers said hard no, others made them sex pests as a rule, most flitted between. You can take whatever stance you want at your table. My take is that some vampires become extreme hedonists chasing more and more extreme sex to keep up with blood. Others don't engage at all. Some only if they truly fall for someone.
>>
>>97242548
>Some writers said hard no, others made them sex pests as a rule
Some clans have erection problems.
It is know.
>>
>>97242359
>How much stamina do you need to survive in combat?

That depends on how long do you need to survive and what you are going against. You can do some math to figure out how many dots you need by taking the avarage soak successes you need to not die.

For this one too, googling the name you gave only shows a pinterest profile, unless you mean you contacted the artist through it.
>>
>>97242548
I like to think of vampires having their physical functions be significantly more influenced by their mental state than a mortal. To a normal man you could, by pure physical touch, without him enjoying it at all, take him from erection to finish (to clarify this is rape and would leave him extrenely traumatised). While a vamp in the same situation wouldn't even pop a boner. I like to think of it becoming less a physical thing and more of an atmospheric/feeling thing.
Someone who was prone to being loyal would only start enjoying sex with you after fully falling in love with you. Someone deeply sadistic would only enjoy sex if it's done in a way that hurts or humiliates their partner, and wouldn't enjoy it in a "normal" setting, even if the actual physical motions were identical. In this example, learning that their victim actually enjoys the process would be a boner killer.
Does that make sense?
>>
>>97242657
>Lasombra waifu tries to dominate you by putting you in a cock cage or beating you up

But for your example, she could get back into it IF she started genuinely liking (You), specifically. And it would only be with (You).

These were all actually fairly inexpensive as far as art comms go. The most expensive by far was the whole reference sheet, the rest haven't gone above $100.

As for how I afforded, I'd just browse for artists if I had time to kill and just set aside some money for a commission if I could. These were done over a while. As for why her, idk man I think she's neat.
>>
>>97242657
>Does that make sense?
Yeah, I understand the logic. The flesh is dead, but they still have a mind, a will, and a soul, therefore the psychological aspect of sex fully takes the reins. I wouldn't go 100% into it, especially with blush of life involved, but I would lean a similar way like... 70%. I think the beast has enough animalistic impulse to allow for some unga primal stuff.

Chronicle: The Modern Adam - An All-Unfleshed game of Promethean the Created game about a found family of Androids and Synths trying to find humanity
Game: Promethean the Created
Format: Over Voice on Discord with a Roll20 for Sheets
Time: Bi-Weekly Fridays at 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Session 0 is on Friday, January 16, 2026 at 6:00 PM, Session 0.5 would probably be on Friday, January 16, 2026 at 6:00 PM, etc
Slots: 0/6 NOW RECRUITING!
Pitch:
You don’t remember much. You never remembered much. You don’t remember how or why you were made. You don’t remember much of the lab. You don’t remember how you got out. Sometimes you remember a few things. Memories of a fine family and a white picket house. Memories of perfection, memories of the past, memories of the future… But they aren’t coherent. While you don’t remember things you do know that you aren’t human.

Your skin is too plasticky, your vision is enhanced with cybernetic overlays, your heart doesn’t exactly beat but instead whirr, and overall you are too uncanny. Incredibly uncanny. To the point that humanity itself fears you, rejects you. The truth that you can’t fully understand is that you were a product. You were a creation. An android, a test tube baby. A creation made of steel and reborn flesh from dead matter. Where your heart would be is truly a technomagic furnace which burns azothic energies. Alchemically powered automatons of science you are now lost in a big city. Hoping to find the truth.

Contact info/Discord Invite: @Shadsea is running it but to get in you need to fill out the form. Form closes in 3 days and I will be grabbing the 6 people that I like the most so please put your best foot forward.

As I said, I meant no offense asking. Just curious because I can't say I've seen something similar before. I might be a bit too frugal honestly, I never quite feel like I can justify commissions for my PCs, want to save that money. Only one I really have is one a friend commissioned for three of our PCs from a VtM game, and it was a pricy commission. Almost felt bad about it. Have gotten a few drawthread requests filled but none recently.

It's near art, always happy to see people talk about their games, just something I hadn't seen before.
