Is it chalcas to unjam your firearm on your own instead of bringing it to a technician? Are technicians allowed to load, clear and fire weaponry to ascertain functionality or must they have a warrior accompany them for those steps?
Is experimental equipment produced by scientists or commissioned to trusted merchants?
Would hunting dangerous wildlife for food and resources fall under the purview of warriors, laborers or merchants?

We know it exists in the Federated Suns at least.

This is apparently from Shrapnel #14's "Great Work", where a Ghost Bear is complaining about an Osiris they captured from a Federated Suns pilot.

Your favorite Clan will NEVER be featured in a game as anything but a stepping stone or namedrop.
>>
>>97337992
What? No, don't be an idiot. Battletech has used the same ruleset for 40 years, with an increasing number of subsystems and special rules grafted onto it. Doing a major rules overhaul every 40 years is fine. It's not what GW is doing at all.
>you weren't applying the +1 heat for attempting to stand anyway, so who cares if they get rid of it?
>>
>>97338321
asf is rare, conventional fighters are cheap
>>
Looking into it, isn't the Mechbuster actually relatively rare since it looks like it only had 1-2 manufacturers towards the coreward of the Inner Sphere? Wouldn't you be more likely to get a Meteor instead?
>>
>>97338342
Yes, but for a force coming from outside ASF is better because it can be used on every step of the invasion. Conventional fighters can only be used after you have already reached the planet surface.
Mercenary handbook also mentioned conventional craft must be adjusted to differences in atmosphere so they might not be available right away.
Definitely a good choice for garrison forces.
>>
>>97338330
Anon what are you talking about?? Jade Falcons get plenty attention?
>>
>>97338384
They'd be good for a low end merc force that hasn't been able to even hope for asf support. Medium strike fighters are surprisingly cheap and can carry enough bombs to support objective completion.

Thank you for clarifying, anon! I'm only getting up to speed with modern Battletech since I got the agoac box and a Battletech manual for Christmas and I am not that familiar with cgl. I have not played in a few years but the newest edition I have is from the 2003 Classic Battletech box and before that a 4th edition agoac. I guess I can get a new rulebook when it releases or just keep using the rules we have always used

Got a couple questions regarding the Cluster Hitter ability as we are doing a campaign and i'm running a sort of long range HAG sniper.

First question for example if i hit with the aimed shot with a HAG-20 and hit center torso is all the damage consider 1 hit or 4 5 point hits in the center torso?

2. It says use all the rules for the Marksman rules so I'm guessing I get benefits from Targeting Computer when I do so?

3. If it works that way does the benefits apply to Missile Weapons and LBXs?
>>
>>97338334
>you weren't applying the +1 heat for attempting to stand anyway
Wait. Thats a rule?
>>
So I learned today that the opfor can hit a force deployed to the AO more than once before it returns. I now get to enjoy a fight with damaged mechs, but fortunately no wounded pilots. Additionally my support elements are caught up in it although I plan to just flee my salvage trucks. Honestly I am pretty stoked.
>>
The Sai and Defender are shown using the same art, but both are really different since one is a missile conventional fighter while the other is an energy aerospace fighter. The art all shows being missile fighters, so does that mean the art should be for the Defender and the Sai is TBD, or something else?

They get cybernetics, it's a stigma, not a ban. At least on most worlds. Also, medically necessary cybernetics are a lot less disliked than elective enhancements.
>>
I took a break from playing Battletech to play XCOM again. I didn't forget that XCOM is a harder game, but I forgot the feeling of how much harder it is. 2 game overs on the 1st mission already and this 3rd playthrough feels like it's going to be a loss now that I've had a full party wipe. Lost both of my new Corporals. Battletech made has made me overconfident.

Cyber limbs to replace a missing one? They're ok
Cyber limbs to "improve" your body (aka chop your arms like the mechfags and iron hands of wh40k)? Degenerancy, even for clanners

>>
>>97340289
One box of Alphas Strike and one box of Scouring Sands are enough to play all the Scouring Sands missions.
SS comes with a pretty good amount of hills but it also has a single bridge and river system, and you might want two of those for setting up your own scenarios.
SS also comes with tokens to represent turrets, conventional infantry, and transports.

Yeah the Scouring Sands and Alpha Strike terrain is very good for what it is.
>>97340294
Scouring Sands is the first “Aces” boxed set for Alpha Strike, meaning a solo/co-op campaign packaged with terrain, an opfor (in this case, second line CJF remnants), and a card system for automating the opfor.
Scouring Sands is themed for the Hinterlands or Tamar Rising books (can’t remember exactly which, but both books are about the CJF OZ as abandoned by Malvina). The next Aces set will be themed for Dominion Divided (focusing on the CGB civil war triggered by Alaric rejecting the Rasalhague Dominion joining the IlClan).
>>
>>97340300
that's why i'll need two boxes. i want to play terrain dense maps, lots of hills and buildings and shit. i like the challenge of 'hard' maps.

plus that really changes the dynamic from gauss and ppc walling on an open field boring.
i went out of my way to pick up one of those token and building etc. packs too. since they were selling them separately as well as the full AS box.

>>

That is a painted pre-production model. The commercially available models will much smaller (I think most if not all Abominations are smaller than Assault ‘Mechs).

Yeah just FYI (may not matter to you) but the tokens in that expansion pack are IMO better than the ones that come in the AS boxed set because they have numbers printed on the TMM tokens (the boxed set ones just distinguish between ground, jump, sprint, and stand still). I mean, I prefer the dice but just in case you didn’t know!
>>
>>97340323
>commercially available models will much smaller
They really fucked up with no construction rules or Kaiju sized aboms. I dont think anything would have made Gothic "viable:. But CGL isnt really helping themselves.
>>
>>97340309
>>97340323
And I almost got excited
>>
What if they release a big abomination like that Stone Giant eventually?
>>
I had great luck with my AC/20s this game, I cored two almost pristine mechs by AC/20 to the CT
>>
>>97340356
I'd prefer if it was a new abomination with new stats since the Stone Giant already has stats. A Kaiju sized abomination would be buy worthy if they use superheavy rules to stat it. If they were really nuts they'd make an abomination using mobile structure rules and make it mech scale. That'd be prohibitively expensive, but it'd be really awesome.
>>

I quite like Gothic and, with the Abomination ForcePack supposedly en route, I am very happy with it as a thematic side project.
>>
>>97340356
They would have to make it a new unit type since the current ones have no provision for being multiple hexes in size.
Wouldn't be difficult, we already have big support vehicles and mobile structures, but it would be more work than just throwing up a new set of stats.
>>
>>97340397
I do think there's neat stuff in Gothic, but I just wish more energy was spent on putting neat things into the base universe
>>
>>97340415
To me, I am more irritated in that regard by the likes of Fox Patrol than Gothic.
I don’t have much of an axe to grind against Fox Patrol either. But I dislike it a lot more than Gothic precisely because it is mainline BattleTech.
