Here's the song I referenced in the thread edition, since I figured not everyone might get it... and it's a great song:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63VI5g61HIATQ adapted from >>97307442 's suggestion.

Strat would be tough infantry to hold the line while heavy hitters, war machines and skirmishers handle weak troops. There's not much answer to tooled out enemy characters other than mounted heroes.
Saw this video and it got me thinking. How can GW make terrain/geography/weather become actually important and have serious effects on gameplay in TOW 2e? Would players even want or tolerate something like this? Perryfag and his imitators are right in this regard that TOW tables are seriously simplistic in terms of terrain and it's function on the battlefield. What are some rules (You) would implement if you were on the design team?
Thoughts on this list?++ Characters [319 pts] ++Master Necromancer [160 pts] (Hand weapon, Wizard [Level 4 Wizard], General, On foot, Dark Magic)Tomb Banshee [90 pts] (Hand weapon)Wight Lord [69 pts] (Great weapon, Heavy armour, On foot, Spellshield)++ Core Units [330 pts] ++25 Skeleton Warriors [165 pts] (Thrusting spears, Light armour, Shields, Skeleton Champion, Standard bearer, Musician)25 Skeleton Warriors [165 pts] (Thrusting spears, Light armour, Shields, Skeleton Champion, Standard bearer, Musician)++ Special Units [145 pts] ++3 Crypt Horrors [145 pts] (Filth-encrusted claws, Crypt Haunter)++ Rare Units [205 pts] ++Black Coach [205 pts] (Spectral scythe, Iron-shod hooves (Hand weapons))I'm using the old Bone-chariot as my Black Coach to stick with the skele theme, and my master necromancer is modelled as a Liche. My "crypt horrors" are animated trees to give the army a bit of a haunted woods feel
>>97341919Get rid of the banshee, wight and crypt horrors and add more skeletons, probably the necromancer too
>>97341936More or bigger units of skeles?
>>97341829I would agree, but I don’t think it works in TOW - purely because of the scale of the game; at 28mm, on the board the size that it is, I don’t think you can have the kind of environmental effects you would want to shape a battlefield.
>>97341829>How can GW make terrain/geography/weather become actually important and have serious effects on gameplay in TOW 2e?Warhammer has two problems that get in the way of this:battles are way too small: both because the tables themselves are small to make the game more accessible to more people, because the scale and size of the models is significant, and because the combination of threat ranges, line of sight, lethality and chances to manoeuvre are such that the battlelines have engage as fast as possible to make a game work in a timely manner. the moment you add bogs to a table you bog down the game while adding very little in truth, if not just an extremely asymmetrical advantage that makes the game snowball in one direction with no real recourse, which brings me to the second point: armies are not symmetrical, some armies are meant to be fast moving, others to have static gunlines, some armies have a lot of supernatural or exotic elements, and all this makes balancing a weather system way harder than it is when in a historical game you end up having roughly similar combatants with roughly similar interactions the way to make weather systems work in warhammer, I think, would be to place them ahead of the choice of scenario and of army building, with a known certainty or at least likelihood of the modifier having an influence in the next game, so you decide not to bring gunpowder to a soggy battlefield, or chariots to a muddy one, or dragons and fliers in the eye of a hurricane but, similarly to how a bog adds little of interesting and interactive to a game and it just bogs things down, those limits to unit types are just that, limits, not really opportunities, and it is particularly damning in a fantasy game compare to a historical game because the fantasy units are highly specialised, and they're also a larger investment and a bigger draw to play the game you would be playing in the first place
>>97341829Buy an ad slopper
>>97342039and this is all aside from the issue of wanting standardised games because Warhammer's popularity has the side effect that many people get into it on their own, without a dedicated group of likeminded roleplayers, and will look for a standardised way to play with random people to speed up things with people you usually don't know enough to coordinate well with making weather things part of spells, magic items or army rules fits well often enough, given the fantasy nature of the factions, balances the asymmetry with an associated cost, and is generally sufficient for the desired mental images
Anons, help me with a question.Unit A is near the Impas. Its front row moves slightly forward. The opponent sees this unit, and their Unit B is on the flank. Then the following happens:1) The opponent charges Unit B onto Unit A.2) Unit B has enough movement to maneuver, and after moving, it finds itself in contact with Unit A, touching the corners of its bases.3) After contact, Unit B turns, ending up in this position.Question: Is this possible? And another question: if there's another unit instead of the Impas, will it just move an inch?
>>97341829Why does an AI piece have an artist's signature on it?
>>97342071Any player that tries to do retarded slimy moves like this that are super unrealistic but technically "allowed" in the rules is a faggot and should not be given the privilege of playing a game with you.
>>97342071even if rules would support the idea that unitA has to move forward to maximise contact to the charged flank, at least in the edition I was most familiar with (I can't be sure tow is worded the same, but it likely is), I'd say the purpose of moving the unit next to the impassable terrain is to cover that flank, and consider it a gamey abuse to argue in favour of such a charge on a small corner.
>>97342146some genuine artworks get an ai makeover to further spread and normalise slop, and the slop's algorithms see that signatures are a common element and so they replicate them.
>>97342146Because real art usually has signatures and AI just copies real art

Anywhere I can find unit symbols? Or at the very least a list of unit types?
Am I the only person who wants to be able to aim at a specific spot instead of specifically the middle of a unit with bombard weapons like stone throwers?
>>97342824Probably, yeah. That's what cannons are for. Let cannons and catapults have their own mechanical flavor.
Brehs... Would you ever play a multiplayer campaign like this?
>>97342901>me in the bottom leftholy shit would I ever! Are they being extra autist with wind direction?
>>97342901try some historicals, they're far more enjoyable
>>97342910>extra autistwind direction is a given in each naval game ive played, its the complexity which varies
>>97342824to do what exactly? You can't snipe charactes with it unless they are alone or large target, in which case it works fine, and the middle of a unit is always going to be the best place, while you need to pick a model to centre it on otherwise there's debate over how many models the centre hole might lie on.
>>97342936And the lore is better too
>>97342994considering most history regarding battles is fictional that tracks.
>>97342901>tfw no mildly homely french wargaming gf to love and cherish and game with

WoC MTO next week>https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/dcuclxww/sunday-preview-angron-transfigured-stares-down-the-new-skitarii/
>>97343026I'd even settle for non-french.
>>97343026This is actually my dream wife. An uglyish face but a girly and feminine (not fat) body. You get to avoid all the unpleasantries that come with a beautiful face and you know she will be low self esteem so much each to keep in line
>>97343096Funny models. Fortunately I need none of them.
>>97343118that's a boy
>>97343070>teleport through multiple unit while fleeing>control unit positioning to the millimeter>can't use physics to reliably launch a stonehilarious
>>97343118>feminine (not fat) bodycancels >low self esteem so much each to keep in lineyou're deluding yourself
>>97343096That mounted chaos lord is very expensive on the second-hand market. Maybe this will bring down the prices a little bit. I'm still annoyed they're selling those three sorcerers as a set. I already have one of them and unless I can arrange some back-room deals with people at my LGS I can't be bothered to pay for all three of them. The single sorcerer is pretty cute, both aesthetically and because the undivided sorcerer from the Mark of Chaos computer game is based off of this exact model, but he's readily available second-hand so this MTO isn't really worth it.The chariot is lovely, but I already have one and the thought of painting another is going to give me an aneurysm. Dogs are dogs. They're not very good right now and GW is probably going to charge an arm and a leg for them. Not worth it imo, but they are stupid expensive to buy second-hand, so make of that what you will.
Do you declare Scout(s) at some point? If I have a Character with Scout do I say I will be Scouting him when it is time to deploy characters?
>>97343042>uses star of david watchadoin rabbi, but seriously isn't this impossible outside of scattering anyway because it always scatters if you can't see the target?
Man I went to my local game shop today and asked when they do a TOW night and got laughed at, they said everyone only plays 40k, AoS and star wars legion or w/e the fuck its called where do you guys find people to play this dead game?
>>97343537I found people to play the game with by first attending a tournament back in 2021 and then finding a store to play at when I moved out for university, which happened to be right near where that first tournament was held. Is there another store in your area? Keep looking, anon. Don't be afraid to go to organized events even if you haven't played the game before, in my experience people are very friendly and are glad to have new people to play with. Just read up on the rules beforehand, make sure your models are painted, and you'll be alright.
>thread filled with discussions around an AI slop video and something about boats>no one answering the TQ>only one (1) king actually posting models.Absolutely grim. Why do I even bother posting in these threads, or even posting the threads themselves.>97343537Nice try tertiary, but no (you).
>>97343533You want it to scatter. That's the point. You don't know which way, but it land on something unless its a mad ass scatter of 10 specifically up in the pictured case. Where as if you targetted the top unit, and it did deviate there is more than 50% chance it completely misses. The pic will deviate and is very likely to hit something
Next week the Chaos MTO will be for sale. Will you be getting any, chaos-players?

>>97342576I finished this fella on Friday and I'm so proud of him that I'm posting him again. It's not really obvious in a photograph, but his mount's white wings really stand out next to the rest of my warband. He will serve as a fine daemon prince until I can get my hands on an actual daemon prince model, then he'll be relegated to either being a chaos lord on a chimera or a daemonic mount. It was nice painting something after taking a long break over Christmas and New Year's. As for what I'm working on next, I've got some 5th ed chaos champions and two chaos warriors on my desk right now and a very special delivery is on its way, but I don't know how I want to paint them. I've been having a hard time justifying painting even more undivided models for a while now, it might be time to start painting mono-god models again. We'll see how it goes.
>>97343677I am a fool who forgets to attach pictures to his posts.

>>97343537Regardless of what some people here would like you to think, TOW isn't a widely played game. It's still super niche compared to AoS and 40k. You won't find many TOW players if you just go into random shops. I'd look for specific groups or clubs to play more niche wargames. Look for tournaments as well, those are quite often organized by said groups or clubs so they could be your foot in the door to finding people to play with.
>>97343683This is how I imagine the guys who chaos ex machina'd Archaon out of his 100v1 with the Grand Theogonist in his dogshit origin book. They were described as mega-mutated Chosen with boney wings.
>>97343683I am having a very hard time telling what this model looks likeIt has 3? heads. The wings are coming out of the hips? The guy is sitting side saddle? Are you able to show a different angle?
>>97343683Like the other anon said, I have no idea what I'm looking at.
>>97343537You join a club and start a TOW playgroup. Not that hard.
Just a warband with old minis.
>>97341539based saxon enjoyer
>>97343728He's a chaos renegade (specifically renegade 1, or 070327/8, without a backpack because I didn't have any on hand) riding a chimera (specifically the CM1 chimera with a snake tail, and dragon, lion, and ram heads). The model's silhouette is all kinds of fucked up because it was a spur of the moment conversion (for lack of a better word), I had to use greenstuff to make a saddle so the chaos renegade would fit and I still had to bend his legs a lot. I also used greenstuff to fill some gaps around where each part attaches, which I sculpted to look like scar tissue and painted fleshy pink. He's not really a mutant or anything like that, the posing is just awkward by necessity.
>>97343788Okay, that is infinitely more than I expected out of your first pictureIt's janky but in the oddly charming way these ancient models are
Am I losing my mind? So many pieces for years I’ve seen credited to Dainton or Kopinski is a guy named Alex Boyd?
>>97343741NTA but if you're just going to join a club why would you join a TOW club? If it's as easy as just joining a club you should go all on and join a fully narrative campaign or historical club that commits to serious projects. TOW is really meant for pick up games, not exactly a club game
