This game had such a kino setting. What is a good system to play a kung-fu RPG that involves a lot of punching?
>>97342608What the fuck is your problem you stupid. fucking nigger? They asked for a badass Kung fu RPG setting, that is on topic. Sorry I don't know of any OP, wish I could help. But have a bump after that supreme faggot.
>>97342668OP might like the tabletop RPG game Feng Shui, it has a pretty cool combat system. you kind of NEED the tracker mat thing, but you could probably print/make your own.he isn't here to talk about that, though. but at least i'm clearly being flippant with my pizza example (although it's something i would genuinely like an answer to, i'd just go to /ck/ unlike OP who wants to discuss a computer game on /tg/)
>>97342668Ignore her.
>>97342702Can you give me a quick rundown on the general flow of combat? My friends have only ever played D&D, so I need some kind of intuitive way to pitch it.
>>97342813She's not going to answer, she doesn't play games and is only here to shitpost. There used to be Panic at the Dojo and Fight! floating around, but I never tried them as that genre isn't really my group's cup of tea. We have Musha Sugyo, but it's more of an arcade boardgame than a true and proper RPG, and it's mainly 1v1. Good enough for a filler session, a longer campaign might need some work. If you want to get deep into it, there's always GURPS with the obvious martial arts, and maybe powers if you want to have some of the styles used in the game.
>>97342554Legends of the Wulin is a cool one i've never seen repeated. you have a pool of d10s (called the Lake), but rather than looking for successes, all the dice are rolled and matching sets are what you're looking for. the number of dice is the 10s column, the number on the face is the 1's column, so if you rolled four 9's, that would be 49. five 5's is 55, one seven would be 17. you use multiple sets as actions on your turn. attacking, using the environment to your advantage, moving, etc. you can use all the results, or you can save a certain number of them in the River on your sheet and add them to future rolls instead of using them. some actions are opposed against the GM controlled NPCs, and others are against environmental set numbersIt's been a long time since I've played, but it's abstract enough for you to do some fun things without worrying about building a grid or anything. the issue i had was getting players that weren't too dnd brained to get into it. if you have players that buy into the kung fu/wuxia and get what you're doing from the start. that mindset will be necessary.
>>97342554I've said it before, and I'll say it again. The best system for anything will be one you and your group decide on and modify to your personal preferences. You have to pay to play, but investment of time refining your game will have exponentially better returns than giving your money to grifting corporations/independent developers.
>>97342608Add more water to the dough and let it ferment overnight.
>>97342554There is a board for video games.
>>97342943There's also /d/, /aco/, and /hm, but that doesn't stop them from shitting up this board anyway.
>>97342813Nta, but I've run a couple of of one shots of feng shui. The players and the opposition roll initiative, and the highest initiative becomes the first "shot." Most actions cost 3 shots. So the first combatant goes, then the next, down the line. It's meant to be shot in the context of film, not guns, so each moment is supposed to be like a cut in an action movie. For some things you can spend more than 3 shots to achieve more/different actions (one of a favorite mechanics is that if you spend a shot and go "chuk-chuk" while wielding a shotgun, it does extra damage.) You count down the shot clock until no one has any actions left, then reroll initiative and start back from the top. Most will get probably 5-8 actions on the shot clock, and most combats are meant to last around 3 rounds. In most fights, most of your opponents are going to be mooks, which are unlikely to hit and only have a single punch themselves. Atlas has a utility on their site that prerolls a shitload of mook dice for you, so you really only need to focus on your featured players and boss opponents.Like I said, I only ran a few one shots of it, but I found it really enjoyable. Fights move pretty fast once you get the hang of it, and no one is really sitting around for too long. I disagree with the other anon, you don't need the physical tracker, although it does make it easier, you can just write it out on a piece of scrap paper and drop people's current shot as you go.
>Jade Empire tried to make the Open Palm/Closed Fist distinction as moral grays>Every single CF user is a cunt.>only one OP user is a cuntI think they blew their moral complexity load on the final villain and just forgot to take the entire concept into account.
>>97342943/tg/ - Everything But Tabletop Games
>>97342891>I've said it before, and I'll say it again.>hasn't learned that people like getting suggestions to investigate, learn and bring to their game group as the gm This is because you are a nogames faggot sprouting nothing 'advice' to feel good about supporting a game culture you're secondary to.
>>97343040You could still treat it like a way to show that the two are often enough just used as an excuse to justify your actions. You can go as deep as you want, that doesn't mean everyone wants to.
Distilled, only the useful parts are left. Not a bad thread. Asked for suggestions, got the answers. Good job (almost) everyone. This is what we need.
>>97342813Yeah, I can. The fight is tracked in "shots" - as in the shots of a movie. Highest initiative sets the number of shots for the round and everyone goes in descending order. Anything you do costs a certain number of shots, at a baseline of three. So if you act on shot 23 and you take a three shot action, the next time you get to act is on shot 20. For anything you do, you roll two d6's. One is a positive, one is a negative. You add 'em together to get your Swerve, combine that with whatever Action Value you're rolling for and you get a result that you compare to a Difficulty the GM sets.In combat, named characters and bosses fight like PCs. Nameless mooks that the PCs are expected to mow through are best handled with a sheet of action results you can print off the Feng Shui site and just start ticking through. Five guys attack you? Miss, miss, miss, hit, miss. Okay, next shot. The system itself rewards creative fighting through bonuses for 'stunts' and can handle hand to hand and ranged combat for any era because it's played fast, loose, and cinematic as possible. In one of my games, a guy took out a bunch of mooks and pinned down a named underboss by ramming through them with a forklift. The mooks were a bunch of future-mutants in ape masks, but the boss was a gun-toting cyber-ape. It's a wild setting, Feng Shui, but can easily play by the numbers action movie if you want to leave out the magic and supernatural.
...why is this on /tg/?
this game is awesome, great taste in games OP, i love level 5. anyway, here's a really good tutorial for making sourdough bread with the coil fold technique:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QC-6rskOq8Ii'm thinking about putting it in my game system for my game.
>>97343099The best experience you're going to get is through actually playing games, and the first thing people are going to tell you when you have an issue with a game is to rewrite it to taste. It's more efficient to skip the middleman and not waste time and energy on systems you either can't work with, or would have to change so much you may as well be building your own system.Someone who mindlessly spouts "nogames" at what he disagrees with wouldn't understand the benefits of practical play over parasitic begging, though.
>>97343220you're in a nogames thread. even if OP was discussing, say, literary settings, that would go on /lit/. at least the /tg/ movies thread is trying to be about /tg/-related movies, same way you could discuss that Midnight Syndicate D&D music album or something.this is a /v/ thread about a video game. plain and simple. and now it's become a meta-thread.
>>97343169/tg/ - Everything But Games
I'd rather have a dozen tangentially related threads than one single wannabe janny spouting off about no-games.
>>97343220>>97343236>the autists don't understand communication Yes, you're bad at it, we know. People can ask for recommendations. That's a normal thing. That you're trying to be board police is pathetic.
>>97343517No, I remember a /tg/ where the tangentially related threads got folded into /tg/ in interesting ways and made for fun discussion and reading. But you wouldn't get that.
>>97342668>nigger>faggot>>>/b/
>>97343523>That you're trying to be board police is pathetic. So why is it okay when you do it?
I WAS HERE FOR THIS
>>97343529i was the guy who suggested Feng Shui.it's an off-topic thread. you know this. of course you could spin anything into /tg/-related, but that's true of any board. it's off-topic, it should be deleted (ideally with OP banned).let's not play dumb, because that just gets tedious. https://4chan.org/rules#tgdoes this thread fit this rule, y/n?
>is a thread asking about what system is better to play a game relevant on /tg/?You're better when you play dumb.
>>97342668You say nigger, but you still refer to OP as 'they'. The woke mind control really has done its work, huh.
>>97343763you could do this about any subject in the world, though.it's a silly argument but there are practical rules (and we're on a board dedicated to games that have rules) so what do you THINK the rule should be?i feel like that's the most blood we'll get from this particular stone. that's the /tg/-esque way i can see 'a thread about a thread about a video game' going. like, what if the website was a game etc, how would you word the rule if the game was refereed RAW?
>>97343529Quests were more than tangentially related to /tg/, progressed in interesting ways and made for fun discussion and reading. But here we are, almost eight years later since they were deemed nongames. You going to continue defending the nongame topic with that line of fallacious logic?
>>97342668anger is not a downvote. bumping is not an upvote.this is an empty post, essentially spam. please go back to >>>/b/
>>97343852The rule is fine as is, pushing for enforcing it on on-topic threads is not. People coming to ask about adapting any piece of fiction they engaged in was fairly common and to be expected. There's definitely a market for such things, as the many systems based on existing IPs prove. So my question is: why is this a problem?
>>97343908this makes me more sad about the decline of /r9k/ than /tg/. shiny new "original content" board, OK cool. Ruby Quest guy tries some EFG-on-Steroids gimmick, nobody cares. whole board quickly deteriorates into ">tfw no gf"given some of the uh, unusual boards they've added in the past few years, they should straight-up add an /rp/ board. for full-on *notices bulge* type RPing.
>>97343941my problem is because there's a trend you and have both noticed where people want to discuss non-/tg/ things on /tg/, because the /tg/ userbase is pretty cool (seriously, you guys are great).sometimes it's softcore/borderline porn, other times it's shit like this. i never post on /v/, i have very occasionally lurked there and yeah it's a clusterfuck.you know where's actually decent? /vr/. popped in there a few times lately and yeah, they're chill. i think Xbox is 'retro' by their rules now, why not take it to >>>/vr/ instead of /tg/?
>>97343959Surely you realize that if he asked such a question on /vr/ they would rightly direct him here.
>>97342608>>97343003 >>97343065>>97343124>>97343517 owned lol
>>97343967i mean they have long threads about the worlds of Final Fantasy or some obscure PC Engine RPG.why do you think they wouldn't discuss it there, where it's (unquestionably) on-topic? it's not like they direct people to /lit/ lol, "that's where discussion of stories/settings ought to go (or /3/ if you meant the visual design)"
>>97343978the thread is still up so it's the mod who's being owned/taken for a fool.(or anons are deleting their own posts, hurr durr how clever.)
>>97344000>the thread is still up so>when I exclusively quoted posts that got yeeted for whining about the threadRetard.
>>97343993People playing the video game are not guaranteed to know about tabletop RPGs. Discussion of the game and its mechanics are off-topic here, discussion about what's the best system or the best way to adapt it are on topic. The setting itself can be at home on multiple boards, and setting discussion have been a long established part of the board. As long as we're not here discussing what's the best build for the video game, it's fine.
>>97344032...which just means there is a mod/janitor and they've left the thread up. like how there's >>97332525read the OP text. it's very subtle, anon, but i think there's intentional trolling/irony a mod may have overlooked!(in THIS case, they've made an active decision regarding THIS thread rofl, nice precedent there lads)
>>97343817If you used your brain for something other than finding dicks to eat you would know that singular they has been around long before retards started crying about the woke boogeyman.
>>97344078OP is posting about a video game on the fa/tg/uys board.identify as whatever. go get surgery if that's who you are. but we should use 'he' by default when it's obvious OP is a he.
>>97344096It's obvious you are a retard.
>>97344121> you are a retard.true. but OP is a male until proven otherwise. so anon is right that he/him pronouns are appropriate. it's more 'un-PC' to NOT assume this, in a way. /cgl/ thread about buying a corset, "they need to decide what their budget is and what type of corset suits them"...?
>>97344305Imagine being such a cuck snowflake that you allow yourself to be bullied by the English language. Seek help.
>>97343688nou
>>97344382i'm not disputing singular 'they', it's valid English (as much as you can have correct language when it's all descriptive and whatnot). i even said earlier in the discussion: people can and do identify as whatever. OP could be a transgender woman for all we know.i'm saying assuming 'he' is fine. and it's actually a disservice to women if you think they'll faint in shock or something. more likely:>oh yeah, this is a predominately male board and a male subject matter. but i'm actually a woman.and then we all start saying 'she'. wow!
>>97344305>OP is a male until proven otherwise. If you are retarded. At most OP is anon until proven otherwise.
>>97344686https://4chan.org/advertise>Demographic>Gender: ~70% male, ~30% femalei'm willing to believe there are more grills on the 4chans than ever. but 'anon' isn't some sexless blob. the actual human who posted the thread is a male.you have two legs. it is entirely possible you lost a leg in an accident and do not have two legs. however, you have two legs.
>>97344818Yes, we can tell 100% of the inside of your head is penises.
>>97344410>No, I know what the rule is, but the rule makes me feel bullied, so you have to go by this other rule I made up, so I don't feel so bullied.Dog, just get up. Go play a videogame. You're letting yourself get bullied by pronouns.
>>97344843i think you've mistaken me for that first guy, >>97343817, or something.i'm not being 'bullied by pronouns' whatever that means. i think the pronoun is fine, of course you can use singular 'they'. if an author uses it, they've done nothing incorrect.OP is a he. i am a he. you could say 'he's being bullied by pronouns!' and that's all well and good. if i was a woman, i'd say 'actually, i'm a woman.'at a yoga class it would be exceptional that i'm a man. some admin could say, 'oh a new member, what's her name?' and...i dunno, i wouldn't explode with how offended i am, shit would make perfect sense.
>>97343817Nigga your a fruit who is actually mind controlled by wokeism. You literally can't see someone using "they" in its singular form with out frothing at the mouth about trannies. Go back to whatever pisshole you crawled out of.
>>97344865tbf it is a bit of a shift in culture. nobody would bat an eyelid at 'they' in say, 1995.but the preference for it over 'he or she', 'he/she' or even (in a relevant context like here) simply 'he'...yeah, that's all changed. nowadays people INSTINCTIVELY use 'they'.does the new wave of gender ideology have something to do with that? of course it does! but i still think it's a step in the right direction (and quicker to say/write).
>>97344890Faggot shut up. You literally seethed about a word like the supposed trannies you mock and now your trying to dig yourself out of the cringe hole your in by being a baitfaggot. Just stop posting and let it die.
>>97344078>>97344865Disingenuous wokies. It's amazing how you give yourselves away immediately every time. I am the anon you were replying to, by the way, none of the other people you have been arguing with were me. You can tell, because I would not waste time explaining things I know you already know.
>>97344958i am not bumping the thread, you are.once again, i am fine with the word. i think singular 'they' is 100% acceptable. please reread the previous sentence until it sticks in your brain.
>>97344964The retarded faggot says while replying with a dumb whiny post. Singular they existed for 100s of years. If you knew that you would not be acting like a retard in this thread.
>>97344000Someone has been getting so booty blasted by /tg/'s decreasing tolerance for lazy shitpost threads that he's begun trying to fake being one of the pissed off fa/tg/uys to try and make it look like the people complaining about the abundance of shitty threads are the real problem.
>>97345039you might want to look at the timings. the No Country for Old Men thread, the Predator vs Avatar thread, and the...Fallout New Vegas (???) thread (especially), it's been going on for days.you're naive if you think this is just one person. the Fallout guy is clearly taking the piss, though, which is just funny.if OP was a crafty troll who was so DEVIOUS he made an on-topic thread instead of a disguised /v/ thread on /tg/, then he'd just be making a /tg/ thread. great!
I based this colour scheme for cathay off that game.
>>97345007Yeah, you definitely aren't the guy looking like a retarded faggot here.
