Aces is really fun. I’m inspired to create my own scenarios using the automated opfor. I also really like how there are tools and ideas in Scouring Sands for more than straightforward shooting at each other.

I've considered making a Lance with my own heraldry since it fits. Fighting lions are based.

I'm not sure to be honest. You got a 6/9/5, two 5/8/0s and a 5/8/5 sharing a berth. It seems to me like a odds-and-ends type general purpose patrol lance. It's not quick enough for recon or pursuit, it's not got enough hops for urban combat and it's too XL heavy to reliably brawl.

Give that lineup, I'd move the Clint to a faster lance and have the Komodo babysit a medium fire-support lance with a B configuration Cobra. I guess some Clints would fit in there just fine though so long as the goal is direct fire with another element keeping opfor back.

Its a general purpose lance yeah.
The real thing was putting C3i to match the Cobra since its an IS variant. the idea was that doing that makes it, at least in theory, decent at blasting things while another lance holds off the opfor or the komodo runs in to get in range with those lasers getting everyone the ability to blast things with their longer range weapons.
The real challenge was keeping it under 5k BV

There's no way that specific point of the decline of sci-fi is true. Mass Effect was a late 2007 release. I think it does have more to do with online discourse getting more commonplace and accessible. They received more written programming that mechs bad, so they started relaying and parroting it as expected in order to continue fitting into the herd, especially if randomly asked by another member. It just so happened that "mechs cool" was the "standard" opinion of the time and so the ackshually counteropinion was the opposite, so it stuck that way instead of some middle ground.

And to follow up on this, I use paper clips for pins, so what I do is glue the whole clip into the part A and then cut it off at the length I need. Then I dry fit to part B to find the exact place to drill and basically just keep drilling into that until it fits up snug.

It looks like credits from Clan Sea Fox may ultimately take up the same role for sphere-wide transactions since they are taking over Comstar's role. It's currently operating under the name Fox Credits, but the name will probably transfer over to being C-Bills due to inertia for what sphere-wide currency is called, and the name "Clan-Bills" can justify the abbreviation.

Oh, that's your problem. The absolute minimum BV for a lance after 3050 is about 7500BV. Light Mechs need it that high so they can have good enough pilots to be relevant, and heavy and assaults Mechs are just that expensive. 5k BV is a value for playing introtech, not legitimate Battletech.

We've been averaging about 4000-5000 for our games in 3060. Then again, my group (Of about 6 of us) doesn't tend to take clan shit either and I even try to avoid XL engines when I can. My last lance was a Ostsol, Merlin, Crusader and a Quickdraw and it went well.

5k is definitely going to lean you strongly towards skirmishes between recon elements in 3060. I respect the hustle, but even for more low-to-ground skirmishes you can probably afford to pop up to 6k.

At least notionally I think 5k is good for lance on lance action in introtech, with 6k more appropriate around CI and even FCCW. In Jihad I can see 7 to even 8k being appropriate with Dark Age being either 'cool toys hour' and staying up there or back to poverty mode in the 5-6k range. I'm not sure what to make of Illclan yet, but 8k might still be rather fair. It does depend strongly on the feel of the scenario.

Basically, 1.5k to 2k a mech opens up pretty reasonable options while making people still have to make choices and tradeoffs with their BV.
