Necromancy Edition

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not
TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

>How do I get started?
All the files are free online:

They used to be split between the website and the discord, but no more. For posterity's sake, the old mega will still be kept active even if it's unlikely to need updating: https://mega.nz/folder/70QH0BBa#Eg-blxYQKkY_C02wErnFTQ

What do you listen too, read, look at, etc, for your TC inspiration?

I look for inspiration in my heart, anon

Historical recollections from many battles in history, Band of Brothers, Generation Kill, that one documentary on the Arab Spring.

Apparently there's a vidya game called Hunger (not to be mistaken with The Hunger, Fear and Hunger, or Hunger Games franchise). The premise is napoleonic era zombie apocalypse, remnants of mankind keeping the hordes at bay with faith and experimental weaponry. Which is admittedly a bit of a stretch from WW1 of the faithful against assorted spawns of devil's asshole, but I feel like there is a bit of a similar vibes there anyway.

>TQ but reversed

I finished reading Between Two Fires over a year ago and first heard about TC while looking online for discussion about the book and similar media. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re on the hunt for a book in the same genre/vibe as TC

In terms of media related, A Roadside Picnic/STALKER gives a distinct Trench Pilgrim feel,
Desperately trying to deal with supranatural forces you barely understand.

I let things come naturally. In the end, you just happen on something you might want to use as your inspiration.
I recently was looking for info on griffins, and ended up learning about demon Malphas. I've been considering him as the patron of my heretic warband.
Since he's associated with forts, architecture and betrayals (especially of those who have made a pact with him), I'm thinking of army where everyone is expendable pawn. Defensive positions where the troops are left to die, the whole point was just to slow down or divert the enemy's attention for a mere moment.
