What other wargames do you build, paint and play?
What do you enjoy about them that you don't get from Warhammer Fantasy?
>>
have you ever met a sane beastmen player?

I've never met a beastman player in general, and I've been playing since 6th

I play lion, dragon and Xenos rampant with my 6-year old son. They are fun and simple wargames that allow me to use the models that I have and get a reasonably big game wrapped up in an hour or so without me having to leave the house. There is also less to memorize, as all rules for units are contained in the same volume, so there aren't really any "gotchas". However, these are not really tightly balanced games, but beer-and-pretzels affairs.
Another drawback is aesthetic, the game systems do not really support blocks of infantry and cavalry, the visual spectacle I expect from TOW. The playerbase is also tiny compared to TOW, which is a small game by GW standards.

frostgrave, gaslands
> and play?
bold of you to asume any playing is happening

>What do you enjoy about them that you don't get from Warhammer Fantasy?
gaslands for the obvious car kitbashing and junkification, frostgrave just to see if i end up playing something, its also a cool (pun intended) setting

Not much, just whatever looks cool. I used to make a shit ton of Maschinen Krieger kits but miniatures distracted me from it

star wars legion, i have a solid force for all the armies available but my pride and joy is my separatist army. really fun game. i like the gameplay a lot and it's my sci-fi wargame of choice as i hate 40k.

>What other wargames do you build, paint and play?
There's no building or painting involved with them, but I play GMT hex map wargames.
>What do you enjoy about them that you don't get from Warhammer Fantasy?
You get the operational level of warfare which is different from Warhammer. I also get to play them with a different group of people, mainly the history nerds in my family, while Warhammer is something I do with friends.

A bit of a tangent but I'd LIKE to play other miniature wargames, I just don't have the time. Painting up my warhams takes all the time as it is. I have a little conspiracy theory that James has been upping the details on their miniatures with pointless bits and pieces that anyway get drowned in the noise of the model and you won't actually notice them when you have an army on the table. I believe this is done deliberately to rob people of their free time so they are more locked in on Warhammer and don't get the opportunity/time to try something else. I'd be curious if anyone else had that same thought.

Only other game I play is Necromunda, but thinking about getting into Blood Bowl.

Here’s a picture of my most recent Battle March game, my friend finally won with his Goblin Confederacy, I made a bit of a meme list and shoved a rune of immolation on my cannon bc he always goes straight for my artillery. Despite the loss, the explosion took out two entire full strength units, which was a very fun moment.

Post your recent games.

I play a range of things which inevitably get cycled out as people lose interest and never play them again
>ASOAIF, good rank and flank game with alternating activations and a great minigame with the politics board. Killed because Asmodee can’t distribute shit so people can’t expand their armies
>bolt action, good skirmish level WW2 and 2nd edition is my most played wargame. People utterly lost interest with 3rd edition after it overcorrected issues
>Bushido, amazing skirmish game with a great deception mechanic in combat (you hide what dice you’re using for attack and defence). Only one other guy played it regularly and lost interest
>Frostgrave, nice little narrative game but hard to get a full campaign running. Only play with my Mrs now.
>Trench crusade, still playing this one for a year now but starting to see the cracks in it. It’s fun with friends but a lot of factions aren’t fun to play a full campaign with
Everything ends up coming back to 40K and WHF though, they’re the only immortal ones

christ why did this general die so hard the past year

Bloodbowl is god damned amazing fun. It's quick once you know the rules (90 mins most games), exciting and challenging. And I can't think of a valid competitor in the football aesthetic models. They are just fun to look at.

Raaroo bitches
I can't find my full chaos team pic. Just the Minotaur and cheerleaders.
